We already own an Ecobee thermostat and it has been great so why not add an Ecobee doorbell camera, and we do really like this doorbell camera for different reasons, mainly because it is easy to install and easy to use. The installation is easy, if you already have an old doorbell with its own power then it is basically just replacing it, and Ecobee offers plenty of information to install it in their website as well as on the application that shows you step by step and according to them it takes about forty five minutes to do so. And in the box it comes with the hardware, mounting plate with option to tilt to the right or left, the necessary connectors and the app that makes it much easier to get the installation done. The 175 degree of the camera covers a large area in front of it and it works day and night with a clear video of what is happening. The camera has very nice resolution at day or night. I really like that it can withstand the weather because I have this one in front of the house and I will be installing on in the back where it does not have anything covering it so it will be exposed to all the elements during the year. When we get packages they usually ring the doorbell and with the camera I know exactly who it is. And when they do not ring the doorbell I get also a notification for the motion detection which is also adjustable to get more or less alerts. The Ecobee app also controls the thermostat and now the doorbell: other options are cameras, sensors, contact sensors, switch. The subscription is optional and it is something to consider because with no subscription we have two way talks to the camera from my phone or the smart thermostat premium. The person detection and the live view are also included as well as the snapshots. And with the subscription, it does keep the videos for 30 days; it also detects packages being picked up or dropped off and lastly the push notifications. Something else to consider is that they work with Android, iOS, Alexa as well as Apple HomeKit. Overall, no more guessing who is in front or the back of the house, we can see who is or was there and with the subscription there are more features offered.

I'm already using the Ecobee premium thermostat, and this doorbell works great with it (Although it's not required). The hardware on this camera is great. Images are clear, wide angle with image in a portrait orientation, so one can see a full body image while holding the phone normally. The front of the camera is all black. The big doorbell button has an LED ring around it that plays a circling pattern when someone approaches.. The sides of the camera are white with the mounting bracket black, It also comes with an angle adapter that tilts the doorbell around 15 degrees. It all looks very slick. Installation was fairly simple and went about as expected, however keep in mind that if using a physical doorbell like in my case where I have a mechanical doorbell, one has to install a small power adapter that goes inside the doorbell and in my case it fits just fine. It then uses the doorbell power (20V AC in my case). The doorbell comes with all the necessary hardware to install in a flat surface like the trim around the door. In my case I needed to install it in vinyl siding, so I had to get a custom mount elsewhere. This was very inconvenient but I knew I'd have this issue. This is the same for every other doorbell camera on the market. Once I got all the pieces, it takes about 30 minutes to install. It also comes with cable extenders and the whole process is documented step by step on the Ecobee app very clearly. The rest of my house relies heavily on Apple Home (HomeKit) and we also have a bunch of Amazon echo devices. Integration with both systems works great. With Apple Home, doorbell notifications can be received by both Ecobee app and Apple Home, and able to answer the doorbell with two-way audio by holding the notification. Any HomePod in the house can be set to play a chime as well, and it works very fast, right after the physical doorbell. Any apple TV will show live video from the doorbell and on-screen notification of someone ringing at the door. With Amazon Echo, every Echo device can play a chime, and it's configurable with several pre-set sounds. Echo show will also start showing video from the camera as well, and it also integrates with FireTV. However, notifications via Alexa sometimes are played too late, not very consistent. Then the Ecobee app does all of this as well, and if one happens to have a compatible Ecobee thermostat, it does a lot more: Our Ecobee premium thermostat will also show the doorbell on its screen, with two-way audio (One has to press a button on the thermostat's screen to talk back). Ecobee offers a home security subscription, called "Smart Security" which uses the thermostat as an alarm panel. The auxiliary temperature sensors are also movement sensors and there are optional window and door sensors as well, and an indoor camera completes the offer, hardware-wise. The doorbell camera can record and has package and person detection, but these functions only work through the Ecobee app with an active subscription. Apple's HomeKit Secure Video functionality is disabled with this camera, no the person detection and iCloud recording doesn't work, only live video. Even with an active subscription, package and person notifications only work via the Ecobee app. Overall it's a great doorbell with solid functionality if planning on subscribing to Ecobee's cloud security offering, otherwise it’s limited to real-time video and doorbell notifications, since basic functions still work without the subscription. I really like how well it integrates with the thermostat as well including video feed from the camera as well as announcements. The doorbell comes with a 60-day security service trial. The service itself is interesting. There are two tiers: The first only covers recordings and notifications with one camera and the second tier covers unlimited cameras (The doorbell and Ecobee's indoor camera) and offers a professional security service that's connected to 911 and can potentially be used as an insurance deduction (which could potentially pay for itself).

Video doorbell’s are really a great way for families to keep an eye on what’s going on at their house without having to invest heavily in wiring cameras all over your home. The new Ecobee Smart Doorbell is a great product so far but works even better for those with an Ecobee Thermostat and iPhone users. PROS: - The look itself of this Ecobee doorbell is really nice. The button is big, but the doorbell looks very modern and sleek. - Installation of course requires some degree of wiring and using a screwdriver, but the app takes you through step by step and it was really pretty easy for me to do. - Once setup, there are a few configuration settings to make but overall you are ready to go! - The Ecobee App is pretty easy to use and makes sense. It has settings like what zone of the video do you want detection in, can show you a log of all the videos it has taken, and will even play a doorbell chime through your other ecobee devices as well if you want. - The video quality is really pretty good! It is clear, has nice zoom features, a nice wide angle from feet to head, and has great night vision. - If you have an Ecobee Thermostat, this doorbell is even better. you can use the the thermostat to view the video feed at any times and when the doorbell is rang, the video feed automatically pops up on the screen. Really nice complimentary feature! - The Doorbell also works great with Ecobee’s security system, an inexpensive way to DIY your home security needs. - Lastly, it has Apple HomeKit integration which is just awesome! That way I can control the camera from HomeKit along with my other HomeKit items or I can view the doorbell camera on my Apple TV as well. CONS: - All of my concerns are around the software itself so I have faith they can all be fixed via software updates, but at the time of this review here they are… - The doorbell only supports Person, Package and “motion” detection. So no detection for vehicles or animals as of now. - Notifications only showcase people or packages, it does not notify you of “motion” as of now. - Every single clip it records is 2 minutes long. So if the video is just the UPS person dropping of a delivery for 15 seconds, it records a whole clip for 2 minutes. It’s kind of odd because really I just want the short lead up to the clip, the clip itself, and the short ending to the clip. - The app itself can be a big laggy on loading the live feed at times, which is weird because when I load it through my thermostat it boots right up but through my phone I sometimes need to force quit and reload. - You do need to pay $5 per month (or $50 per year) for some added benefits like rich notifications and cloud recording. BOTTOM LINE: - The Ecobee Doorbell is another excellent choice for video doorbell buyers. It offers easy installation, crisp video, and a nice app to go along with it. There are some needed software updates on the doorbell to make it simply the best, and you definitely benefit from it more when you have the thermostat too or are an Apple user. But that being said, its still a great choice and I have all the faith that Ecobee will continue to make this doorbell great and their whole home security system great!

This smartdoor bell is a great add to any household. I have used competitors doorbells in the past and have had a hard time installing and even setting up the app and singing up for their cloud storage plans. This doorbell has not given me any of these issues since day 1. The companion app links great with my existing thermostat (same brand) and the install was simple. The app does have a buy-up option that I am yet to utilize but I do intent to explore at least the free trial in the near future. A noteworthy points around this doorbell is the camera clarity and angle of view. My old camera seemed to provide a very narrow camera view, while this camera give more of a fish-eye view. This was a major deal breaker for me as my front door has a little bit of a jog/corner to it and my old camera did not get the best view compared to this one. Installing was easy, as the back of the unit has a nice mounting to it allowing me easily replace my old doorbell with this new one. All in all, we all know there are plenty of video doorbells out there and selecting one that fits you best is tough. I can attest that this doorbell give a great picture, has a friendly app and is easy to set up making this a highly recommended option to add to my household smart devices.

This camera is exactly what I’ve wanted from a doorbell camera. Can zoom in/out, picks up voices from across the street and the picture quality is outstanding. Way much better than the guy with the black hood mask product. The fact that it integrates with Apple Home Kit made it an even better investment. If you have an Ecobee system, this is well worth your time to upgrade from whatever other brand you have. Installation took about 40 minutes, and was painless. The app basically walks you through every little step. Only complaint I have is the doorbell adapter does not tuck in too well to the doorbell housing and cover. However that does not take away from how great this product is.

Good image quality, solid build, and east install. App works okay- the notifications and loading the camera takes a bit. However, if using the Apple Home app, the camera loads instantly. No HKSV, but again, does work with Apple Home. I use it with my Ecobee Premium Thermostat and two Ecobee security cameras. The doorbell chime sounds on those devices and the live feed shows up on the thermostat. Pretty cool, would recommend this smart doorbell camera.

I was really looking forward to this since it has HomeKit compatibility. My previous camera doorbell was not compatible and this one is, My first observation is I really like the look and design of the doorbell. It is modern and sleek and fits nicely with the exterior style and colors of our home. Installation is really easy, my only issue was making sure I had the correct circuit turned off in my circuit breaker. I really wish it had its only dedicated breaker. This unit does require very specific doorbell transformers so be sure to research what you have at home before buying You will need to use the mobile app to set up the unit, which is pretty common these days with all IOT type devices. The app is good and walks you through the detailed steps to set up the device. As part of the setup you will get a 2 month free trial to the security monitoring so you can give this a full test drive and see if you want to continue that service later. You likely will need a philips head screwdriver and maye a drill. Otherwise all other parts for installation are included in the box. You can connect via 2.6 or 5.0 GHz to your home wireless. Thankfully mine main connection is right by the front door, even though my home is stucco, the signal was strong enough for the unit to connect without issue. I am really impressed with the video quality. I can see very clearly my front porch area, people are clear and it shows packages nicely too. Great job on the video. The camera show more of my porch than my previous one, it is nice seeing my entire porch now without part of it being cut off. You are getting 175 degrees vertical view and 115 degrees horizontal view. Great field of vision. I am very pleased and look forward to many years of use with this Smart Camera Doorbell.

If you are looking for a high-tech solution for securing your home, look no further than the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired). This device is the newest addition to the growing list of home security gadgets, and it is definitely one of the best. As an avid tech and security enthusiast, I was thrilled to get my hands on the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired), and I am happy to say that it exceeded my expectations. Firstly, let's talk about the design and installation. The doorbell camera comes in a sleek and modern design that I found to be very pleasing to the eye. It blends in seamlessly with my home's front entrance, and it's not obtrusive in any way. The installation process was a breeze, and I was able to do it by myself in about 20 minutes. The device comes with a bracket that I used to mount it on the wall, and then I just had to connect it to my existing wires. Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired) is designed to work with low voltage wired doorbell chimes, so there's no need to worry about compatibility issues. Everything you need for installation is included in the box. When it comes to features, the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired) is packed with them. It has a 180-degree field of view and an advanced motion detection system that uses a combination of motion and audio detection to alert you when someone is at your door. The device can differentiate between people and objects, so you won't get false alarms when a car drives by or the wind blows a branch into your camera's view. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection or set up custom zones to monitor specific areas of your property. The Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired) also features two-way audio, which means that you can speak to whoever is at your door from your phone or tablet using the Ecobee app. This feature was a particular highlight for me since I can communicate with delivery drivers and anyone who comes to my door without ever leaving the comfort of my couch. The app is easy to use, and you can view a live feed of your camera's view at any time. You can also review recorded clips from the past 14 days. Another great thing about the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired) is that it integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant. You can use your voice to control the device and receive alerts on any compatible smart speaker or display. For example, you can ask Alexa to show you the live feed from your doorbell camera on your Echo Show or Fire TV, or you can ask Google Assistant to disarm the camera's motion detection when you're expecting a delivery. These integrations make the device even more convenient to use. All in all, I highly recommend the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired) to anyone looking for an advanced and user-friendly home security solution. It's packed with features, easy to install, and integrates with other smart devices in your home. The motion detection and two-way audio features are particularly impressive and add an extra layer of security to your home. With the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (Wired) installed, you can have peace of mind knowing that you can monitor and communicate with anyone who comes to your door, no matter where you are.

First, install was quick and easy. I even went through and did a factory reset on it to change the network I configured to a network with better signal. There are only a couple issues I have with this doorbell. I'll get to those shortly. One is with the app the other is with compatibility. The build of the bell is really considerate to something I would never have thought of. The holes align prefect with the size of a standard brick so you can make holes thru mortar rather than brick. A definite bonus there. Well designed hardware and thoughtfully put together. Attaching the remote/ringer to the pre wired house bell was very easy and I had that done in a couple minutes. Attach two wires to the chime box and you are set there. Required loosening two screws and crimping the wires with included twist caps to the wires that were removed. Attaching the doorbell was almost as simple. Two wires removed from old doorbell and connected to the new. Hardest part was finding the right breaker to flip off and remembering how the old smart doorbell came off the mounting base. I would say it took about 15 minutes to get everything installed. Now why did I drop a star and what are the issues. One affects me, and probably a large portion of the potential customers. As of this writing the Ecobee doorbell does not integrate with Google Home Assistant. It works with Alexa and Apple, allegedly with Smart Things but I need to confirm that one as I found instructions but not from Ecobee. Speaking with support a feature request has been submitted on my behalf to have that Google added. The second issue I have, the app for Android will not allow you to zoom in, rotate the screen to landscape, or really change the view of the live camera nor recordings unless you download the video and play in another app. There is no full screen view I can use. The cam can do a wide screen from the preview, but I can not see that view from a live view nor recording. This should be fixed in future app updates. Basically, after they fix some issues in the app and add functionality (Google) this is a keeper of a doorbell. Presently if you are Google Home, you will rely on the Ecobee app. That may be a deal breaker. But before dismissing the Ecobee Doorbell, check to see if Google integration has been implemented.
