Unusable out of the box, defective scanner

Total Failure, EPSON is joking with this product. Let me explain: 1) The scanner doesn't work out of the box, and the screen gives error code 100016, which doesn't exist in the manual or any piece of documentation. By the way, the documentation is on the EPSON support website. 2) This error doesn't allow the printer to be configured from the computer, so I had to (forcefully) use the app. It took me two attempts to complete the process but I accomplished printing a test page, even with the scanner error still on the screen. 3) Even while using the app, I had to download all the software from the EPSON website. It asked for a firmware update, which took three attempts to install since it interrupted itself two times at different points of progress. 4) Updating the firmware didn't solve the scanner issue, which renders the printer unusable from the setup screen since it blocks access to the commands/options section. 5) I looked online for information about the error code and sure enough, I found out it's very common for this model. It requires opening the printer to access internal parts and re-insert a gear that gets easily out of place (the scanner can't move). 6) Fun fact: NONE of the more than 3000 reviews or 500 questions at the Best Buy website mention this error. I don't think it's a coincidence, no wonder it has a 4.5 star rating. A waste of time and money, I ended up printing at Office Depot paying premium price per page. The printer is going back to Best Buy tomorrow.

Do not buy this printer. I work in IT, i bought this for personal use. Its great if it doesnt have one of the 40,000 formware updates, paper jams, and God forbid you have to cancel a print job. Because that process goes on for insane amounts of time. Could be 29 seconds couldnben3 hours. And you cant print until it stops flashing. I cant tell you how many times i have needed to print relatively quick and have to wait 15 minutes. It is a printer, it shouldn't need more updstes than a PC. And no option to bypass, you wait. I printed a eulogy one night. Made a few changes. Next day 30 minutes. There are no warnings, no bypasses. If you never are in a hurry, get it. I was always told not to purchase Epson and i didn't listen. You won't save on ink either. That is a scam.

Fatal Design Flaw - Can't Remove Paper Jam!

Printed about 20 pages before the first paper jam. Oddly, this Epson printer does not open from the back - where paper jams take place. You can only access the jam from the front and try to pull the paper through - which did not work - because the paper is jammed from the back of the roller feed. Super poor design for a printer!!! The other Epson printers have clips on the back to quickly remove the back and remove a paper jam. Took this back and purchased a different printer that is on sale.

Worked great at first. After the waste tank fills up the printer insists that you have to have it serviced by an authorized service person or company, despite the fact that the waste tank is easily accessible at home with two screws. Parts can be easily found for around $10, but they wont work because they have it software locked and has to be reset by them. As with everything tech wise it can be circumvented, but I shouldn't have to go through all of the effort for such a simple part swap. Epson is just as shady as HP, they just do it differently.

I have this printer for about two weeks and I have had to reset it five times now. We don’t print often, but when we do, our devices cannot find the printer even though it was reset earlier in the day. When we go into our devices it shows we’re connected but it still won’t print. The Epson program always searches and never finds the printer. I will never buy Epson again and this will printer is getting returned. I was hoping they had improved their products since the early 2000’s, sadly thought they have not.

Poor Prints featuring Grey Blacks and Flat Colors

I was excited to try an Eco Tank Printer, however my excitement was short lived when I saw the print quality. Photos were grainy and colors were off on every single print even with high quality paper. I also experienced lines in my prints. Text documents never printed pure black and were not sharp. I was extremely disappointed in how soft text printed. For a printer this expensive I expect prints that don't look like they came from cheap 10 year old printer. The ink is cheap and you get what you pay for. I'm sending this back and I will be purchasing an inkjet HP printer with an ink subscription. If quality is important to you then I would stay far away from this printer

Printer failed catastrophically the same day Best Buy would no longer accept a return. Printed/copied at most a few dozen pages over just a few weeks of extremely light use. Won't feed. Won't print. Locks up due due to non-existent paper jams and error messages that won't clear. Just freezes and says to contact Epson support (no help, of course).

Absolute garbage. Unless you like to clean the printer head every single time you want to anything. Need a recipe, oh don’t forget to clean the printer head first. Need to print a return label, if you want more than 2% of the image, ya better clean that printer head, again.

This printer is worse than the $50 Epson printer my boyfriend has. The only reason I give this one star is because the ink lasts forever, but it also hardly ever prints, so that's probably why. This printer is EXTREMELY slow. Like the sloth in the DMV in the movie Zootopia slow. Need to print a few pages? Get ready to wait an hour while the printer prints one or two lines and then needs to rest for several minutes. Everything is connected how it should be, I've uninstalled and reinstalled and reconnected and updated firmware and I'm currently on minute 15 of waiting for ONE page to print. Most of the time I try and print and it tells me the printer is not available. Then I go to the Epson app and it says everything is fine. I was also not aware that for nearly $200, this printer does not print double sided automatically... again, my boyfriend's $50 Epson printer surpasses this printer as it prints double sided, all by itself. This is the worst printer I've ever owned by far and is going in the dumpster as soon as I can afford a new (and different) printer.

Do not be fooled into thinking Epson makes good products. Epson is garbage. After they replaced my ET-5150 under warranty it worked for a while but now it does not recognize the maintenance box. They will not fix it again. Will cost more than it is worth to send it to one of their service centers. EPSON = S#*T. DO NOT BUY. STAY AWAY. WILL NEVER BUY AN EPSON PRODUCT AGAIN. Wish I could give negative stars. Now stuck with extra ink and maintenance boxes.

We purchased this printer two years ago. Shortly after the warranty period, it stopped printing in color. When I ask for color printing, I get yellow and grey. I tried taking correction measures I accessed on the Internet, but none have worked. I have been using it for the past year to print, but only in black and white. The concept was good - I was excited not to have to buy ink cartridges every time I turn around - but it has failed to work for me.

I got this printer to replace my ET-3760 model that stopped working after 4 years of daily use. I was trying to save money and purchased the ET-2800 this time around, and I regret it big time! I never had issues with the 3760, it was the easiest printer I've ever owned. The 2800 has given me nothing but headaches...constantly having to restart it for no reason, colored pages are not printing in correctly even though the ink is full, constant paper jams, and loses connection to my laptop frequently. I also did not realize that you can't print double sided when I ordered it, or that would have been a deal-breaker. The paper feeder does not hold a lot of paper, so we are constantly refilling it. Overall, the lesson I learned was spend the extra $100 on the higher model!
