    Convenient Scanner

My new Epson RapidReceipt 60 scanner is convenient. I am replacing a printer/scanner combo. With my printer/scanner combo, it would only scan one page at a time and only scan to a jpeg (photo) format. I would have to then save to pdf file and then have lots of separate pdf for one document. Not, with the RR-60! I am not tech savvy and need step by step directions. This scanner is almost plug and play. There are directions and on the website better directions with cartoon graphics. You have to plug the scanner into your computer to charge it. And to be honest, I think that is they only way to turn it on. I can not find how to turn it on/off. I thought I read it was supposed to be wireless, but I do not see how to do that. The instructions show the other model RR-70W being able to scan to a cell phone, so maybe it is that model that is wireless. You can only scan one sheet of paper at a time, and it is one sided only (not duplex scanning). But that is ok. The scanner is fast. And you can rearrange your scans so if you scan pages 1, 3, 5, 2, 4, 6 in that order, you can later numerically order the scans to be in order: That screen allows you to crop, delete, rotate, and organize the scans in any order you want; there is also a zoom feature so you can see the scan’s detail as well. You can save in pdf, word, and even in powerpoint format. The negative is once it saves, it becomes a blurry/fuzzy pdf. It is no longer clear and crisp. You can also scan and organize your receipts. I started scanning my receipts. The scanning of a 8X10 document is easier than receipts, you will have to make sure you are giving it a tiny push to get the receipt to be sucked in. There is a “review invoices/receipts” feature that you can organize into categories and even upload it to certain tax preparation programs. At this time, you can scan to quicken and turbo tax. Although I employ a different tax preparation software, I find the receipt scanning very convenient; it still organizes it for me compared to my shoebox of receipts I have now. You can also scan photos too! This so much more convenient than the printer/scanner combo I already have and the product is a little bit better than taking a photo with your cell phone too. But the finished product (jpeg) still has a slight blur like the pdf. I would give this 4 stars out of 5 because of the slight fuzzy/blurry finished product once it is saved to my computer (Windows 10 based). This is a review for the RapidReceipt RR-60 Mobile Receipt Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

This scanner does its job. It is best to scan one receipt at a time. When I tried 2 side by side, it would pull the other to the left, crumpled up

It does the job fairly well. The quality of what your scanning definitely is degraded in the process. For me it’s receipts. So try to do them as soon after as you can.

The RR-60 is a great little all-in-one that has become a integral part of my office. Small enough to sit on my desk and powerful enough that I don’t need to get up and head over to the full-size scanner across the room. In comparison the larger scanners, it’s very fast with no doors to lift/open. Just place a document in the slot, and off you go. I have used this for receipts, full sized documents and even cards. Great reproduction at great speeds. For the receipts, I keep auto feed on so I can keep the scanner on the ready for easy filing. Scan and toss. Been waiting years for a device this seamless. The software that comes with the unit is a great counterpart. From Epson, you get the Scansmart suite which basically has everything you need to scan, refine, organize, stitch and file your documents within minutes. The second in Nuance Power PDF. I’m am still discovering all this can do, but so far, it is a great alternative to Acrobat without any additional cost. Sort, edit, modify, create searchable, etc. The software alone makes this product top notch. Here’s a few cons. Firstly, the scanner cannot accept batches. I have only found it to be single use. For the size, this is not a surprise, just confirming what may be obvious. Second, for many of my full-size documents, even with perfect alignment, the scan may be slightly angles. Not to the point where information is missing, just as if the scan shifted while passing through the reader. I can easily fix it in the software, but I’d rather the scan be aligned the same way I inserted it. I’ll continue to play and haven’t ruled out the idea of user error. Third, I have checked the software over and over, and there is no option for “double sided” scanning. You will have to scan each side and pair together in software. Lastly, the initial set-up was a bit tedious. The scanner wouldn’t connect to the software. It would time out. The software would freeze. After a few restarts and some repeated plug and play, all those issues eventually dissipated, but noting they were there. All and all, I really like the unit and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to find more ways to get organized.
