Great GPS at an afordable price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GPS works very well. It has lifetime map and traffic updates. The traffic updates depend on traffic cameras so they aren't accurate for locations and routes that don't have them. Overall it is a great deal that should last a long time.

GPS and more
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a gift for a friend who didn't want the cost of built in GPS in his new car. He uses it often as he is s notary that does mortgage refinance closing. Gets him there safe and 98% right. One thing we noticed, until you are use to the display getting from one screen to the other is a bit confusing.

Great GPS for Driving Car, not so much Truck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GPS works really good. I especially like the Trafic alerts, for example, I was on my way back to the city and there was construction that would cause a 30 minute delay, the GPS said there is an alternate route that will save you 15 minutes and only add .01 miles to the route. For me time is money and this saved me some money.

Outstanding product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this GPS to replace an older Garmin product with outdated maps. Used it for a nearly 2000 mile trip from the U.S. to Canada and this GPS performed flawlessly - even when we got to the dirt roads in the "middle of nowhere" in Canada. I initially had a bit of trouble getting my voice commands to be recognized but as time went on, that improved. (It seems that the key is to reduce background noise as much as possible.) While this isn't the largest screen size available, I feel it is the ideal size to not block too much visibility. Pros: Live traffic (Re-routing saved us a great deal of time) Voice command (after I used it for a while) "Up ahead" feature Size Cons: Bluetooth - while connecting to my phone was simple, the poor sound quality is enough to make me not use this feature.

Perfect for travel
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this GPS whenever I have to rent a car in other places. It is easy to pack and to set up in the rental car. The screen size is large enough for a clear image that can be easily seen while driving but not too big to fit well in a brief case or in a pocket when not in the car. It can be connected via Bluetooth to a mobile phone for hands free calls, so no need for another device. The speaker gets garbled some at high volume, but otherwise OK. It will also use your contacts information in your phone for calls and addresses. Lane guidance is great for travel on unfamiliar highways with multiple lanes. Data from a previous Garmin was easily transferred to the new GPS.

Did everything it was supposed to do.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nüvi 2589lmt 5 worked right out of the box. Easy to use and understand. Large display that changes when light lever changes. Love the blue tooth option to link to my phone. The hands free voice command is great and convenient with this model. Some issues with getting it to understand a town or business but those are few. Love the directions like Turn at the stop sign or make a right at the Shell station. Displays the current speed limit almost to the foot as you are driving. Only issue is changing the route if you want to take a different highway or alternate route. Probably just not knowing how to change it. The way it shows the Interstate Exits like a Picture not just a line drawing is most helpful when you are traveling in a lot of traffic and / or in a new area. That really takes the stress off of being in the correct lane etc. Overall great many other options, like elevation, whats coming up, closest gas station, hotel, restaurant, etc. that really are too numerous to mention in detail.

Voice Command is the future
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this Gps for my roommate who needed one. The traffic updates is a bonus and a time saver. Being able to tell the Gps what I'm looking for makes searching time a sinch. The Bluetooth allows you to tell the gps to call anyone from your phone contacts without touching your phone or gps. This is a must for drivers.

Awesome GPS Capabiltiy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just love this unit. I use it mostly for work. Comes in handy trying to find out of the way places that you could easily pass by and miss. The only downside is this unit will not spell correct a (name) address that is given to you by someone else (second hand knowledge) and provide the correct option. It will just come back with either a no address with that name or will give some names likely in another state from the one you are looking for. I like the screen look, it really looks slick; very much similar to the smart phone screens. As a new user I was once confounded when my unit did not appear to turn on (this was after a few days of not using the device). And what I found out after experimenting was that in such a case you have to plug the unit in and the unit will come to life in a few minutes (I guess it has to replenish it's charge a bit; such a device probably uses a significant amount of power to access the GPS data. And when you think about like today's smartphones only last a day or two before needing a recharge. I also find it handy that the device will pull up a photo picture in advance of an exit (on your route) that you must take. Really helps in the area familiarity. This device will also sync your phone to it using Bluetooth but I have not utilized this feature yet, but it looks very useful in regards to hands free. Overall I am more than pleased with this device and would recommend it to anyone in need of a GPS device for travels.

Garmin GPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Garmin GPS. Nice sized screen. Bluetooth capability. Voice commands. Split screen for clear vision of upcoming exits. Overall a good GPS product. I travel 80% of the time with my work and a good GPS is a necessary item in cities where I am unfamiliar with the layout of the cities roadways and highways.

Greate Garmin - nüvi 2589LMT GPS for anyone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this very convenient unity just before I went to Florida in April this year. A little pricy but it was worth! I went to parts of Florida unknown to me plus the ones very well known also - all without any hiccups. Just punched the address in the GPS and it took me there and back. It found restaurants, parks and all site seeing locations. This GPS is very easy to use and update maps at anytime for life.

Initial Unit Problem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first unit I received did not work after two days and had to be replaced. The store was very helpful in determining that there was a factory issue and immediately replaced the GPS. I have had no problems whatsoever since then. This is my second Garmin and they are the best. The only reason I even replaced the one I had before was for a slimmer design and larger screen. It is 10 years old and still works like a charm. Passing it on to a friend who needs one! Great product. SUGGESTION: as I was loading all my addresses into my new device I deleted them form my old devise to insure I didn't miss any! I would NOT recommend doing that until your device has been up and running for a week or so. It was a pain to recreate all the stuff on my previous device.

Solid GPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this GPS to replace an aging TomTom that didn't include lifetime maps. The key features I wanted were lifetime maps, traffic and the ability to use voice commands. This unit offers these and more. Navigation - 5 stars The unit finds the satellites quickly and re-routes quickly if you miss a turn. The lane assist feature works very well for complicated traffic exchanges. The native voice speaks in a more natural language, which makes it easier to follow the directions. Traffic - 4 The traffic feature works, but not as good as Google Maps. I wish the GPS gave me options of routes versus just selecting the route it thinks is best based on traffic. I've run into a few issues (traffic jams) because of this. Also, I wish it showed the traffic on the route ahead in a different color similar to Google Maps, as I find it helpful to prepare for the stopped traffic. On the plus side, I've had the traffic feature warn me of delays in areas that I didn't think were covered by the traffic service. Bluetooth (voice commands) - 5 Using voice commands via Bluetooth to interact with the GPS is well thought out and executed. The voice commands that work best are entering an address, searching through the recently found list, making a phone call, and adjusting the volume. You activate the feature by saying "Voice Command". Bluetooth (phone speakerphone) - 4 I ended up buying a 2nd unit for the speakerphone for my wife, because she had been using the speaker in her iPhone7. The sound quality of my voice for the person I call is very good (almost as good as my Plantronics noise cancelling hands free device). The sound quality coming out of the GPS wasn't loud enough for me to always hear it on the highway. It possible that's a function of my car and not the GPS. Searching by name - 3 This feature is spotty. Sometimes, it works great. Other times, the choices it returns are so far off that it's comical Communicating with your smartphone - 1 This feature is buggy at best. It was very difficult to get the app to connect to the GPS. It's awkward that it seems to use a second Bluetooth connection. Using the app to find things is significantly worse than the GPS. I haven't successfully been able to send any information from my phone to the GPS. In my eyes, Google Maps is the gold standard as far as smartphone navigation. If you have used it or others like it, you wont ever want to go back into the Garmin Smartlink app after your first use. I hope this helps.

Worth Upgrading to This Model
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this unit to replace an older Garmin GPS because we liked Garmin and wanted the new features. We next drove on a tour of more than 9,000 miles in completely unfamiliar territory for us – New England and the Maritime Provinces – and found a lot of things to like about this device. Voice command and touch screen work really well for us. The display is easy to view both day and night, and the side-by-side display combines nicely with voice prompts on tricky interchanges. School speed zone warnings are very helpful and so is the traffic conditions alert. Bluetooth is a very useful enhancement. Some routing was adventuresome at best because the “fastest route” route in rural New England is often not the shortest route. Garmin seemed to prefer shortcuts via one-lane roads and mind-boggling turns and climbs. Access to some of the functions and features changed between the previous model and this one, so we experienced some learning-curve frustration there. But overall, this is an excellent navigator.

Great GPS device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very happy with this purchase! I started a job where I drive around quite a bit, and after a few times using my cell phone constantly for directions, the battery on my phone would drain very quickly. For that reason alone, I decided on getting a dedicated GPS. I've had a Garmin device previously, but hadn't replaced it after a few years due to it's battery being completely shot. I wanted a GPS device with lifetime maps and traffic, and received both with this.

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started using the GPS right out of the box. Very easy to use. Before using the Voice command to find an address it's best to find the address before you start your travel. The voice command sometimes gives a list of address options and asks you to select a line number. You need to look at the list so it's not safe to do that while driving. This model has Bluetooth for your phone so you can talk hands free and has Free lifetime map updates.
