Excellent GPS easy to use!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very happy with this GPS! I'm happy it Does Not Say "recalculating" every time I choose a different street, other than what was recommended. It just gets you there Via your new selection, or Your Lost Selection! The voice is pleasant, not Wierd. This GPS is very Good and I'm liking it more and more!! And a great buy for the money!

It's helpful to have
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple to use and screen display is clear, easy to see while driving. Always direct the route to highway even though there are local route. Have to intentional not follow the device and it calculates again. Only gives one step at a time, wish getting a little more clue for the next step ahead.

Love My Garmin Nuvi
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect size for my car, great visualization, clear voice, easy to program, gives points of interest and places nearby. It has gotten me to many places easily. I had an old Garmin that I loved but I think the heat in the car (Florida) fried the battery. So I purchased another and I try to remember to take it off the dashboard before exiting and closing up my car. My husband bought a large screen Magellan for the RV it was supposed to come with free maps - impossible to figure out how to get them!!!!! So I think my little Nuvi is going to put on it's big-boy pants and take it's place on the dashboard of our big bus!!! (Garmin outshines all GPS's - don't waste your money or time on anything else)

Great GPS Unit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought the wide display would make this GPS cumbersome, distracting and hard to use, but that certainly hasn't been the case! It tucks nicely into a corner or hangs out of the way on the windshield with no problems at all. Navigation directions are easy to see on screen and clear when spoken aloud. With the included lifetime map updates, we'll be using this unit for travel well into the future.

A true "BEST BUY" for Mobile/Automotive Navigation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Garmin navigation system for Best Buy store pick-up in order to make a week-long driving trip using a rental vehicle. I can get lost just walking to my car so having a navigation unit is more than just a "security blanket" for me. Purchasing this car navigation unit for under $100 meant no $15 to $20 per day navigation system rental fees to the rental car company (and I get to reuse the Garmin unit for future rentals and can use it in my older car without integrated navigation). I decided to purchase this Garmin unit after doing about an hour's Internet research - about 45 minutes spent on the Best Buy web site. I liked the Garmin's stated features at the under $100 price point (screen size, lifetime free satellite updates, mounting kit and chargers included). Having this Garmin unit for a week during a trip where I drove a total of 2000 miles in four states and three major cities was a life safer. I was familiar with this Garmin unit's interface since some rental car agencies employ Garmin navigation systems similar to the one I bought from Best Buy. I bought from Best Buy instead of another source because Best Buy had competitive pricing and had this (and other) Garmin unit in stock for same day in-store pick up (a big plus for procrastinators like me). This Garmin unit is easy to set up (I connected the unit via USB port to my laptop PC for Internet download prior to picking up the rental vehicle) and to install in the vehicle. I used the windshield mount allowing the driver to easily glance over for moving map views and other important data (such as your vehicle speed and the speed limit on the road you are presently traveling on). The power cord (with car cigarette lighter charging connector on one end and a USB connector on the other end) is long enough to reach from the windshield to a low on dash cigarette lighter charging port -- I rented a Chrysler mini van and the distance from the middle of the windshield to the cigarette lighter charging port is over three feet -- the supplied Garmin charging cable reached with no problem. The Garmin unit performed flawlessly during my week long trip which included long stretches of Interstate driving, in city driving, driving near and at airports. The color display has great resolution, is large enough to see clearly at a glance, and provides an uncluttered display of map data. It was easy to program destinations and the unit kept me constantly informed as to distance to destination and estimated time of arrival. The unit displays vehicle speed accurately and shows the vehicle speed in RED if you are exceeding the posted speed limit. I highly recommend this unit.

5in display, free lifetime maps, short sync cable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(thought I already posted this but they are asking me for a review... sorry if it is a repeat) We needed a new car and could not afford the packages that included navigation systems. After all the test drives, I found the GPS in them intuitive and wanted one. I bought this on sale with a gift card & points, so the price was right for me. All of this is not news to regular GPS users or cell phone app people, just me. I recommend going to the Garmin website and looking at the actual manual before turning it on with the simple-drawing instruction pamphlet included with the device. My brother had a very old handheld GPS and was impressed at the reception on this device and that it included free Lifetime Map updates. In using the device, it is eerie seeing exactly how "on the grid" we are. We've had cell phones for years with GPS in them, but actually seeing what lane you are travelling and indicating lane changes to make -even on a long underpass and some tunnels in Boston, was astounding to me. Speed limit tracking, elevation, and I've only just started using it. NOTE: I was NOT driving. I was a passenger watching the device. There is a safe mode setting to prevent drivers from making modifications while the car is in motion. Cable and Case Recommendations: The included sync cable is about 19.5 inches from tip to tip. My CPU is on the floor and that short a cable didn't allow me to put the GPS on the desk. The first map sync took over 3 hours on my sluggish connection so having the new GPS sitting on an open desk drawer was not appreciated. There is only a car-jack for charging. I would recommend a longer USB to mini-B cable that can be plugged into the PC for syncing but also into a USB wall charger plug that I already use for my ereaders and cell phone. After one misstep, I ended up buying a bit bulkier Eddie Bauer case EBWAXG-BLK-000. It zips a bit tight on the corners but because the full zipper length runs half way around the case, it is usable. There is room for the cables in a zip compartment on the other side, a stretchable mesh pocket on the outside, with a convenient wide wrist strap. It is more bulky than a nice slim case, but it is not as large as some more expensive cases, especially some of the hard shell. It did NOT fit in two other cases that said they fit "most" 5 inch devices, one was a Garmin sleeve case Model 010-11793-00 the fit was so tight that my device turned on a couple times when inserted/removed. The Swiss Gear model GA-6315006F00 was also too tight and only zipped along the top. To get the fit right, I ended up in a store. I learned on a product like this, the "interior" measurements online do not necessarily reflect reality when faced with the actual product.

Good Replacement GPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Garmin to replace an aging Magellan which was in need of expensive updates. My wife and I are taking a trip to the far west this year and up to date information is a must. I picked the 52LM for the 5 inch screen, 2 inches larger than my old Garmin. It is much easier to view and we can both see the information on the screen better than with our old unit. The programming, once I got use to the differences between it and my old GPS, is simple and quick. I especially like the built-in speedometer and the fact that the program tells you the speed limit where you happen to be. This may save money on traffic fines! The bracket which came with the machine works great and although the 52LM is larger than my old GPS, it can be located a bit further down the windshield which makes it unobtrusive when driving. About the only thing I do not like about the unit is it can be a bit difficult to install and remove from the bracket. I will keep working on that. The lifetime updates which came with the unit are a great feature. With my old one, it was going to cost almost as much as I paid for it to do updates, so I never did. Great unit and trouble free so far.

Great Device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super easy to use. It's very accurate but having lifetime maps is essential because it is easy to keep updated. The screen is large enough to see easily. Highly recommend.

Works Great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have found this GPS to be easy to use and like the accuracy. I also like the option to get lifetime updates since maps change over time. This GPS is less annoying than one I had previously that would keep telling me to make a u-turn after leading me in the wrong direction. I couldn't update the maps for that GPS.

2nd One
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My second Garmin. 1st one lost. The best gift ever for me. I like the bigger screen. I think the window mount has been improved, it looks like better design. Be sure and tweak your settings for better routes. The split screen at junctions is a God send when your traveling. My only regret is I did not get the Garmin with Bluetooth and voice recognition. The only minus on this one is it seems to need a lot of battery life to find satellite signal.

Easy to use and view GPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The large viewing screen of this GPS and clear, verbal instructions that include street names make this an easy-to-use device for navigation. Lifetime maps feature ensures that it will remain current as roadways are modified and new roads are constructed.

Good basic GPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does the job without a lot of bells and whistles that might be on more expensive GPS, but can't say I need that. What is a problem and I don't know if other ones can do any better, when you first turn it on, you have to drive a bit before it knows what direction you are facing, so starting up you may not be sure which way to turn or have to make driving adjustments until you and the GPS are in sync. Sometimes when I am in a familiar area I realize the GPS hasn't picked what I would consider the best route, I don't know if a different GPS would get it better, but this is probably rare. Of course when I use it in unfamiliar locations I wouldn't know the difference. Overall at least it gets me where I want to go. One other disappointment, there is nothing of Canada included. Recently took a trip to Niagara Falls and even just within a few miles over the border, no help at all. I can understand charging more for the whole country, but really they could help out for short distances from US border. Overall fine model for a decent price, have to say all my GPS have been Garmin, don't know if another brand does the job better.

Easy to use and performed very well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This replaced my 10 yr old dependable Garmin in our trip vehicle that had a small screen and no lifetime updates. Best Buy had the best local price and was as good or beat online dealers. And I was able to get it within 10 min after I left work. The same size screen Tom Tom was about $25 less but I got the Garmin because the screens seemed easier to use and I was very happy with my previous Garmin. This acquires the satellites very quickly. The window mount works ok., but on the Chrysler minivan the long slant of the windshield has it farther away. Old one had the bean bag dash mount that was ok but sometimes would slide. I like the speed limit indicator. When I took the county blacktop to bypass Waterloo rather than the main highway through town that the GPS planned it never said "recalculating". It just redirected me TOWARD my destination over to the planned route without wanting to backtrack to the planned route like the old one did. Allow plenty of time for the initial map update download and install.. I think it was about 15 min or more. I presume that subsequent updates would take less. The slim size makes it handy to use away from the car and the battery still had plenty of charge after studying various routes, places and features while in the motel. It took me a while to find the power button since it blends right into the top left edge of the case.

ever reliable gps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good gps. Not so complicated to use. Very easy to use and just right screen size. I hope there are accessories sold like the mount specific to 52lm model. I left my garmin's mount in a rental car and was not able to find an exact garmin brand replacement.
