Cold beer...yes.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit is more compact than most, and cools to 41 degrees (wish it would go lower, but that's better than most). My only issue is the motor runs a bit noisier than I would like. But at least I have cold beer in my man cave!

GE Wine Cooler
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surprisingly, the wine cooler seems to be working fine, which is amazing, considering what it looked like when it was delivered. The box looked like it had been drug behind the delivery truck from Salem all the way to Monmouth. It was beat to crap. So far, the cooler seems to be working.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First one we received, the thermostat was broken. Second one received, never installed since it was dented and scratched. With a 15 day return policy and not at the location where it was shipped, and trying 2 hours to get someone on the phone to extended return policy, we decided to go with a different cooler.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this refrigerator in early July. It arrived in a torn box and significant damage. I requested a return and new one. The 2nd refrigerator also arrived damaged. I requested to return and get a 3rd new one. Now I have 3 refrigerators. Still waiting for Best Buy to coordinate with UPS to pick up the 2 broken ones so I can get a full refund. See photos

Broke after a year
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disappointed because I initially loved it. Bought this less than 18 months ago and the compressor broke and is, of course, beyond manufacturer’s warranty. BB couldn’t do anything because we didn’t purchase geek squad. We only paid $600, so if this happened after spending $800 I would be beyond mad. Do not buy. Spend extra and chose better quality. Ps - ours was installed in cabinets, so maybe it works better as freestanding. However the description says either.

Didn’t Lose Its Cool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the longest-standing names in home appliances, General Electric (GE) has been manufacturing stylish home refrigerators for the greater part of a century. With modern refrigeration technology no longer requiring a large, monolithic box taking up a third of a wall, it’s not uncommon to see multiple fridges in a house, with a smaller unit serving as a beverage center closer to where guests congregate. GE’s 125 Can / 31 Bottle Beverage and Wine Center is one such example, featuring a sleek, modern design with a reasonable capacity given its svelte dimensions, but some questionable design choices undermine what’s otherwise a competent, attractive cooler. - Unboxing & Setup As with any large appliance, transport, unboxing, and positioning is best handled by two people. The beverage cooler is packaged with a protective layer of clear film on each side of the unit, which is a welcome sight for people intending to use it as a freestanding appliance. The power cord is stuffed around the compressor and was a bit tricky to unwind, but the bigger issue I encountered immediately was that the door appeared to have shipped locked with the keys inside. By leaning the unit back I was able to reach and twist the lever of the lock mechanism to open the door. Two sets of keys are included. The included instruction manual is fairly detailed and contains measurement specifications to use the cooler as a built-in appliance. Temperature controls are intuitive and easy to understand, so setup as a freestanding beverage cooler was as close to plug-and-play as could be. The initial cooling down to its minimum operating temperature took about six hours. - Design With a stainless steel door trim, black lining, and faux-wooden shelves, the fridge fits in most modern kitchen environments. The door can only open from the left; other models in the range allow the hinge side to be swapped. The door can open a full 180 degrees with appropriate clearance. However, the door hinge or lock mechanism on my unit appears to have been manufactured or shipped crooked, as the bottom of the door hits the lock hook routinely, leaving the door open about two inches and requiring a small lifting motion to close. I found I could bend the hook a small amount to alleviate some of the issue, catching less frequently, but this shouldn’t be necessary with how GE positions this unit price-wise. Another letdown is the lack of adjustability in the shelves. All the shelves can be individually removed, but each of the possible shelf positions are fixed, thus requiring some beverages to be laid down to reach the full advertised 125-can capacity. Actual capacity will be much lower if you require standing bottles since you’ll have no choice but to remove shelves rather than reposition if the need arises. I also noted that the half-depth (lowest two) shelves also fit quite loosely in their slots. I would be concerned about using them for wine bottles. Unfortunately, one of the prominent features of this unit falls painfully flat. The beverage cooler advertises interior lighting as a feature, and with the modern design I was expecting the interior of the door to have an LED strip lighting up all the shelves and the contents therein. Instead, a single incandescent bulb at the top of the fridge is all that turns on when you activate the interior lighting, which is either on or off at all times (no door sensor), and even empty will barely illuminate anything below the top two shelves. A very disappointing finding. - Cooling Performance & Noise Design issues aside, the compact compressor does a great job getting this fridge to its desired temperature and keeping it there. Temperature can be adjusted between 41 and 61 degrees Fahrenheit (5 and 16 degrees Celsius), and the cooling performance is very consistent. Within a couple hours of setting the temperature, my fridge thermometer and the GE Beverage Cooler’s internal display both read the same temperature consistently, and anywhere I placed the thermometer I achieved consistent performance with less than a degree variation from the set temperature. If my unit has cool spots or hot spots, I can’t find them. The anti-condensation system seems to work decently enough, but you’ll still want to wipe down the back of the cooler before unplugging for an extended period of time as the back panel still collects plenty of airborne moisture. The compressor and fan are reasonably quiet when they’re running. In standalone configuration you could hear the fridge running from about ten feet away in a quiet room, but otherwise it was no worse than any other fridge of similar capacity I’ve used throughout the years. - Bottom Line At an MSRP of $669.99, it goes without saying that the design of the GE 125-Can / 31 Bottle Beverage and Wine Center is what you’re paying for. It does have a very attractive fascia but the design choices that both limit its capacity and disappoint on the interior lighting make this a hard sell. There are many alternatives that would do equally well at a lower price if you’re simply looking for a standalone beverage cooler, and for this purpose I can’t recommend it. Of course, as a built-in component of a modern kitchen, bar, or patio, the design makes or breaks the whole ensemble. This is a very attractive fridge that fits in any of these environments, and finding a comparable unit that keeps the compact, versatile dimensions of the GE model would be difficult. Since it performs as expected and does so efficiently and quietly, as a built-in that matches the decor, this fridge does come recommended, though only just, since there’s no strong alternative.

Attractive, but maybe a bit too pricey?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I moved into my current house, the previous owners were [apparently] big wine drinkers, and had a small wine cooler that served their purposes (it was probably around 4.5 cubic feet). And while I like wine from time to time, I’m more of a “beer and pop” kind of guy. And unfortunately, this existing wine cooler was exclusively that—so its lowest temperature wasn’t ideal for a variety of beverages beyond specific chilled wines. Still, it was never high on our priorities to replace it. A quick search on your favorite search engine quickly finds plenty of options in the 4-5 cubic foot capacity anywhere from $250 - $900, depending on size, features, finish, etc. This beverage cooler by GE is right in the middle of that price range, but nice fit and finish to go along with it. The stainless steel finish compliments my existing stainless steel appliances, and the interior shelves are made of bamboo which looks very high class. Once I had the old unit out of the way, this one slid right into its place without issue. The front two corners have adjustable leveling feet for uneven floors, which is a nice touch. The unit also can be locked and comes with two keys, if you have a need to keep would-be partakers away from your beverages. The inside boasts plenty of space (at 4.1 cubic feet), and shelves, but has a couple of shortcomings: first, the shelves aren’t adjustable; if you don’t like the pre-set space between each shelf, too bad. Yes, you can remove the shelves for storage of taller items, but that’s about the only adjustment that can be made. Second, the middle-third of the top shelf has less clearance than the outer thirds of that shelf due to the internal electronics of the unit. This is minor, but still annoying as a small adjustment to the design of the shelf spacing (or the ability to adjust the shelf spacing yourself) could easily fix this. I trust some high level of maths was used to determine ideal shelf height based on standard can and bottle dimensions. The really nice thing about this unit, and a big step up from my previous fridge, is the ability to specify exact temperatures between 41 and 61 degrees. The internal temperature is constantly reported via a digital display in the unit, and the temperature can be adjusted without needing to rely on circular dials that promise “1 - most cold” and “7 - least cold.” The instructions also include ideal temperature settings based upon what you’re storing. The interior of the unit does have a single light bulb at the top, but it has to manually be switched on and off—and it’s a standard incandescent bulb (I would have loved to see automatic LED lights throughout the unit). More than anything else, I struggle with the price of the unit. It retails at $669 which is a touch high considering a couple of silly design changes. On sale, 25% off or greater, it starts to become more reasonable. Aesthetically, it’s a very attractive piece. It could use some adjustments but otherwise functionally is fine…I just hesitate at the price given those few required adjustments.

Show off those beverages - You know you want to!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I had been tossing around the idea of getting a second refrigerator for the garage to hold beverages - mainly to relieve some pressure on the interior of our primary kitchen refrigerator - the amount of real estate taken up by soda and craft beer was ridiculous. I didn't want to have to go outside or downstairs to get a beverage, so this beverage cooler was a perfect addition to our kitchen. We're not big wine people, so we use this mainly for canned and bottled beers and soda. The design of this unit is top notch - it looks great in almost any setting, especially if you have stainless appliances in your kitchen or bar area already. The cooler fit nicely in our kitchen. We ended up setting this at the end of our kitchen counter. Ideally, this unit would be counter height or possibly an inch or two shorter, so it does look a little short next to our countertops. The stainless steel door, wood shelving, interior light, tinted glass, and modern style handle give this thing an appearance that says, "Yes, I am a premium appliance sitting in your home." The wood shelving is a nice aesthetic, however, for storing cans and some bottles vertically, they simply don't sit right and I have to move things just-so to get them to stand up properly when refilling the beverage cooler. If I were storing wine horizontally, this would not be an issue - bottles rest perfectly in the space between the wood slats. The light on this unit is a nice touch, but if you have it full of beverages, the light really only makes the bottles / cans immediately near the light visible. I'm not sure how this could be improved, but it definitely will not be illuminating those beverages in the lower portion of the cooler. The temperature on this unit can range from 41-61 degrees Fahrenheit. I'd like it to go a bit cooler, but in practice, this is cold enough for both our sodas and beers. Even at it's coldest setting - it holds temperature well and I'm not sure I can tell you that I've heard the compressor running - it's very quiet! However, I suspect the coils for this are on the left-hand side, as that side of the unit is where the heat seems to be dissipated. The door does have a lock at the bottom. We don't have a use for it in our home, but the lock is a simple key that turns a square bit of metal in the side. When locked, the door can be pulled open a bit from the top, but the lock is mainly there to serve as a gentle reminder to say "Hey, I'm locked - go away." At its core, this unit is a dorm refrigerator with a nice door, a light, and wooden shelves. It looks great, keeps your beverages cold, and if you can get it on a good sale it's a good value. I'm not sure I'd pay the non-sale price for this unit though.

High End Mini Fridge with Simple Controls
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With at Home Entertainment becoming a larger part of our lives, conveniences like a Mini-Fridge can be a great piece for a room. GE has released this Mini-Fridge and it does nothing but impress! PROS: - The Fridge itself is stunning. It just looks really high end and modern, yet it could fit in many settings. The stainless steel look with the glass is a great benefit given you always know what's in the fridge and it adds to the appeal. The wooden racks on the inside are also really nice, but they are removable if you want some extra height for taller items. - There is little to no set up needed. Just plug in the outlet, place the fridge where you want it, and set the temperature. And that’s it! Very easy process that anyone can do. - It works exactly how you want it to! Keeps the temperature at a nice chill level for whatever beverages you want it in but runs very quiet so you barely notice it. On top of that it can fit a surprising amount of cans/bottle or whatever you need! Plenty of space which is well needed for a mini-fridge. - It's a small feature but notable, the mini-fridge has a lock/key function on the bottom edge of the door. That way you can keep it locked for child safety purposes or whatever reasons you might need it for. CONS: - The Fridge's lowest temperature is 41 degrees Fahrenheit which is ideal for beverages but if your preference is in the 30's for food or beverages, than you are out of luck. I personally wish it would go lowest to about 30 degrees Fahrenheit, just seems odd that it can't go lower given its price. - The light function isn't my favorite. It's a single bulb at the top of the fridge that only works if you open the fridge and press the light on button. If you don't turn off the light before closing the fridge, the light stays on and the fridge will detect the light is on and raise the temperature in the fridge. So it's basically easier to just never use the light since it's more important to have the fridge be at the right temperature than have a single bulb on at the top. Plus I don't understand why the light can't just turn on and off when you open and close the mini-fridge which is pretty common. BOTTOMLINE: - GE created a very elegant high end mini-fridge that will instantly up the appeal of whatever room it's in and impress. It may lack in any additional features besides keeping your drinks cool but really, what more do you need?

Very nice product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GE - 125 Can / 31 Bottle Beverage and Wine Center is a very nice product. It has a modern/stylish look and design, so it can be placed just about anywhere and not look out of place. Unpacking the product was fairly simple, and once it was leveled and the Freon was allowed to settle, I plugged it in. The unit came programmed to 44F, which is fine for the drinks I planned to cool, so after about 30-40 mins, when the desired temperature had been reached, I loaded the unit with beer, water, soda, and some other bottled drinks. The black cabinet and stainless steel framed glass door give this unit a very stylish look, so I had no problem putting it in my dining room beside my wine server. The wooden shelves also add a touch of style as they peek out from behind the glass, although it would be nice if the shelves were adjustable; they're not. The light is a nice touch, but I would've liked to see additional lights incorporated into the sides and/or bottom, and I think it would be nice to have the switch to control the lights somewhere on the outside of the unit instead of inside with the temperature controls. The compressor is fairly quiet, and almost unnoticeable with my placement of the unit in the corner of my dining room. Overall, I think GE has produced a very nice product. It's extremely stylish and functional, and although there are a few small things I would have added/changed, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to someone looking for their next beverage cooler.

GE Beverage Center – Stylish Furniture/Appliance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I was presented with an opportunity to select this GE Beverage and Wine Cooler in exchange for an honest review I was excited. Two thoughts immediately popped into my mind. I thought to myself maybe this Beverage Center would finally allow me to store our wine at the appropriate temperature instead of constantly over-chilling in my refrigerator. I also thought that my Kitchen would be the foremost place to set up this Beverage and Wine Cooler. Right on the first thought about temperature, and wrong on the placement of this unit. Upon receiving this Beverage Center I was immediately impressed with the style and build of this unit as I unboxed it. The stainless steel glass, door at the front of a black, finished cabinet is sleek and stylish. This GE unit is designed to be installed under a counter top, or, free-standing, whatever your choices. Although it is a refrigeration appliance, the combination of stainless steel front and black sides make it a classic and modernistic piece of furniture that can be placed anywhere in my home and blend in with the motif. I am pleased! *** Why do I love this GE Can/Bottle Beverage and Wine Center Cooler? *** * Versatility – Although I am using my unit as 'free-standing' it can be installed as 'built-in' into any standard cabinetry, Kitchen or Bar, with zero clearance on all sides and back. How cool is that? This GE Cooler can hold up to 125 beverage cans, 31 bottles of wine, or,any combination. Is it an appliance or furniture? I experimented and set it up in four different locations in my home. However, after three weeks of moving it around, I decided to place it in my Living Room. It blends right in and is classy looking (see pics). The temperature range is from 41 F to 61 F, which covers the temps of beverages, and, optimal temps of various wines. * Installation – As long as the floor is level this Beverage Center is easy to set up. This GE unit features adjustable leveling legs so an 1/8th inch tilt towards the back insures a proper door closure. I used an 18” level to set my unit up. Since I moved this cooler around several times I let it stand for the recommended time of two hours to allow the refrigerant and oil to settle. As a free-standing unit it can be placed anywhere in my house. It only uses 1.5 amps of power so anywhere a lamp is plugged in – this unit can be installed. WooHoo! GE recommends a 115 Volt, AC, 15 or 20 amp outlet with ground. Overall – EZ Install! * Design – The classic-styled, stainless steel door allows me to visually see all of the contents in my cooler, and, if needed, there is a light switch to illuminate the whole interior. The five oak shelves add a richness to the whole unit plus permanence and strength. If needed they clean easily with just a dampened cloth. Note that the bottom two shelves are abbreviated because of the compressor compartment. Great for smaller beverage items or just several bottles of wine. This GE Cooler comes with two sets of keys for lock-prevention of unauthorized use (kids) . Be aware that the SS, Glass Door is RIGHT Hand Swing only (Not Reversible). * Control Settings – The Electronic Control Panel inside, and, at the top of the cooler is so intuitive. You will find the switch, which allows you to illuminate the interior shelving. And, you can also choose temperature settings, like 'Auto-Temperature' setting, which is 44 F for canned beverages, and is indicated by the 'Auto Bev' indicator light in the upper Left Hand Corner of the Control Panel. You can also set the operating temperatures from 41 F to 61 F, manually, by using the touch pad (+) and (–) controls. Additionally, there is an indicator light, when the compressor is running to cool your unit, is lit. Because I live in North Florida where the Humidity is always High – I love the automatic defrost function, in my A/C controlled environment. It keeps the see-through glass of the front door clear and unfrosted. * Furniture/Appliance Unit – I was absolutely amazed at how good-looking this unit is and how it fit seamlessly into my overall design. Most of my furniture is of a dark to black pattern. This GE Cooler compliments my entire Living Room, and, it blends in without being 'standout'. This unit has a compressor, which makes noise when it is running. However, after three weeks of use, I can vouch that the compressor noise is hardly noticeable. * Conclusion – After three weeks of constant use, I am super-pleased at how this unit maintains its set temperature. We no longer have to deal with over-chilled wine from my refrigerator. YooHoo! The most impressive feature of this unit is how it blends in with my existing furniture. It is energy efficient, modernistic in styling, and a welcomed addition to our lifestyle. I highly recommend this GE - 125 Can / 31 Bottle Beverage and Wine Center. This makes a great gift for that special family member or friend. Buy One, it is quality built and designed.

Nice looking and seems to work well
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GE - 125 Can / 31 Bottle Beverage and Wine Center - Stainless steel Full disclosure: I was given this product in return for a honest and timely review. Unpacking was very easy. The refrigerator was undamaged. After removing a few pieces of tape and the manuals, I plugged it in and set my desired temperature. I checked back in an hour or two and it was at 55° where I had set it. My garage was quite warm, so it was true test of the cooling. This is a nice looking and functional beverage refrigerator. The fridge has five wooden shelves. The bottom shelf is only half depth because the compressor is located behind it in the back. The next shelf up is also half-depth, but it is roughly even with the top of the bump out for the compressor, so you can use it as a full shelf, but with a bump in middle that tilts a wine bottle forward. The shelves are at different heights and are not adjustable. 12 oz beverage cans can stand up on most, but not all shelves. The variety of shelf heights mean you can accommodate several different size bottles and cans, but you will need to plan which shelves you use based on the capability of each shelf. I plan to use it as a wine refrigerator, though it only has one temperature zone. I have a SubZero wine fridge at a vacation home and was amazed at how similar the two looked. GE did a nice job with aesthetics. I’ve only had the fridge about 10 days, so I can’t comment on durability over time. However, it looks good and appears to operate as expected.

Under counter Cooler
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Product once you get it delivered without being damaged. For clarity it is a drop ship and not a BB delivery. I'm not sure what they were doing from warehouse and then UPS delivery but I had to go through 4 of these to get one without a lot of damage to the frame. Once installed it looked fantastic and held the temperature just right for my whites and my husband's beers! Quiet model and solved the refrigerator space issue! It really does work as a true under counter install. Just follow the suggested clearances.
