However, the nobs are plastic and one of them has already shown signs of melting - roughly a week after the unit was installed. If metal nobs are an option, I would highly recommend it.

Hot red grates on a GE cooktop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK Overall good product BUT when you boil a pot of water on the middle burner, the grates turn hot red like ready to melt or to be forged . We contacted GE cares and are waiting for a reply . Is this a defective metal issue and or a safety issue. We had a 5 burner Thermador cooktop before and had no problem whatsoever. This one came with the new home model we purchased 8 mos ago . The builder referred us to GE. SEE PIC BELOW.

Design disappointment

The cooktop does not sit flat on the counter. It bows in the front where the knobs are and in the back corners despite the installers using more straps to strap it down. This is the second one put in out of the box and it does the same as the first. It doesn't look good from the front and because of the bowing it will allow food particles and such to get under the cooktop. Should probably give it 1 star.

For as much as I paid for this I would expect better quality knobs.
