I bought this because I love the type of ice it makes. When it is at its prime the ice production is fabulous and quick. However, if our when the machine malfunctions it makes a squealing noise that is annoying to say the least. For the price you pay you'd expect for the machine to work for the long haul. The price point is on par with that of a deep freezer basic fridge. I need more bang for my buck. It is absolutely beautiful though.

This has a large side tank. The bin is usually filled with nugget ice. Cleaning and descaling is relative easy, This is the best ice for making frozen margaritas. I love this ice maker. I would suggest getting insurance on it. This is an expensive appliance to replace if it breaks.

This is even better than the original 2.0 - with a much larger (1 gallon) side tank. It makes the best ice and you will be addicted - just like ice at some chain fast food places (you know what I’m talking about) - with making the same ice at home. The app to schedule when it starts is great! Beats the crushed ice from your refrigerator… Buy this one, but make sure to get the BB Geek Squad warranty (totally worth it).

This thing is perfect. Purchase with Best Buy online was dead easy. Shipped earlier than promised! Game changer for ice. Will ruin you from any ice-maker you own in the future. Makes perfect ice. App is great. Maintenance is easy. I suggest get an after market "float rig" to keep the water always topped off by plumbing into the fridge water line.

I first purchased the XPIO13BCBT model over 2 years ago. The ice was soft but not Sonic soft. I only used purified water (15 ppm), with approved Ge filter, clean cycled weekly and descaled monthly. Unfortunately it started leaking from the bottom a little over 2 yrs in. I purchased the 4-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection and Bestbuy replaced it hassle free with the GE Profile™ Opal™ 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker With 1 Gallon XL Side Tank model XPIOX3BCBT. This model makes perfect soft Sonic quality nugget ice. I hope to get many years with this machine, but if not, I rest assured BB will take care of me.

My kids absolutely love the nugget ice it makes. Easy for my kids to use and refill with water. It's a must have in your kitchen. 10/10 great addition to our kitchen.

This machine has been an all time hit in our house. Bought it for my wife for Christmas 2023. Had read and watched a TON of reviews before buying it. It was about 60/40 on positive and negative but the positive were GLOWING! And Best Buy is "THE BEST" when it comes to returns with faulty product so I went for it and man, am I glad I did. Works perfect and the ice is delish. My wife & kids are dipping from it daily! Awesome product!

With having a 1 gallon water capacity and getting “Sonic Ice” from this awesome piece of equipment, you never run out of ice. We got 5 people who go through ice like crazy and nobody is ever left waiting.

I am obsessed with nugget ice and as such I have gone through three of the cheaper models within a year and a half! I refused to buy another one based on principle, but my dear husband knew I was sad over the death of the last one and he surprised me with this beauty for Christmas! I was so happy! So essentially we should have purchased this in the beginning and saved ourselves $900. Do yourselves a favor and buy this instead!

I absolutely LOVE this ice machine! We debated on getting it for quite a while because of the price, but now I drink more water than ever before. It sounds silly to love ice this much but this thing is a game changer!

Works great. I just recommend buying the filter sold separately of course. If you keep up with cleaning it every so often and changing filter it will last a long time.

This thing is like a tank. I like how much ice its able to make on one tank. I hate refilling stuff like that constantly, my only conplaint is that it came with a funky seal, and i had to get a replacement through G.E. However the ice makes up for it. Ive tried the cheap machines. Theh all died in a few months. I fully expect this to last years to come. One of my buddies gas had the gen 1 for over 3 years now. Its stilll running solid. Anyways the build quality is where the money is. Its hard to justify the price until you actually have this thing in hand. Its HEAVY, and its easy to see why. All of its panels are stainless steel, aside from the tank. But I bet there is a really high density heat exhcanger in there. Anyways aside from the quality, the ice is amazing. Id compare it to Chick-fil-A ice but better. If you love ice. If you love chewing ice, this is for you. its not clear ice, But its amazing. This is a high quality investment. Skip the cheap machines, and save for this. Its truly amazing

We entertain a lot and our friends and family are super excited about this when they come over. Great build quality, very sleek looking as well. It’s expensive but if you entertain a lot it’s well worth it!

Love the nugget ice it produces. Definitely like Sonic. As long as I use the distilled water. When I used my tap water it wasn’t as good. Not bad but using distilled is best!!! Would purchase again.

This is my second Opal in about 4 years. When it works, it is awesome. You get tons of the ‘good ice’ you love. You can set it up to wifi and use the app to set a schedule so it only makes ice when you need it and you don’t have to remember to turn it off and on every time or after power outages like other ice makers. However, once it starts giving you issues, then it makes you want to throw it off the roof. I have had this one for 5 months and it is starting to give me issues already. Just like with the old one I had, sometimes after running the ‘cleaning’ cycle (I often wonder what it is cleaning and how well, because it is so short and I see very little water running through the machine), it can take days before it realizes it has water and starts to make ice again. You keep trying to turn it on only for it to continuously say ‘add water’ no matter how much water is in there. For how much this costs, not only should all the parts be dishwasher safe (side unit and ice bucket), but you should get many years of ice, not just 5 months. I love it when it works, but this is my last Opal ice maker, unless they bring the price down to $150 out less so I can afford to replace it twice a year.

We love our Opal ice maker. The reason is that you can buy a separate water filter to filter out the hard water. We recommend buying the separate filter because the filter that comes with the ice maker is a screen filter. The water filter cost $20 and you can buy it through the ice maker app.

Nope! For the price I expected better quality. Started making the most unbearable noise within 3 days. I mean screaming at us from the kitchen. I looked it up on YouTube and eventually everyone who owns it runs into this problem. Had to return it.
