Bought GE profile cooktop just about one year ago. Burners are great, cleans pretty easily, BUT the material they use for the stainless steel finish is easily scratched and feels cheap It was okay for a while but after some use there are fingernail scratches all around the burner controls. No one in this house has long fingernails. It's just normal daily use and wear. These are permanent scratches and will not come out so I guess got to live with them till the next cook top purchase. Also starting to lose some of the print text around the controls. I only clean with wet sponge and mild thorn detergent So it's really just not a durable finish

To clean the stainless steel surface, use warm sudsy water or a stainless steel cleaner or polish. Always wipe the surface in the direction of the grain. Follow the cleaner instructions for cleaning the stainless steel surface. Removal of oxidized stains and even “surface rust” can be done by using a paste made from baking soda and water or a cleaner that contains oxalic acid, such as Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanse. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. GE_Appliances

We replaced a 4 burner GE gas top with this 30inch and it looks amazing. Completely upgraded the look of our kitchen. We love that the grates take up the entire 30inches, it really gives it a big custom look!

Quality cooktop. Love the grates, lit knobs to show when burners are on, and large center burner for boiling water. Would prefer rubber bottoms on the grates themselves to better prevent scratching of the stainless.

Love, love, love this cooktop. Replaced a cheaper GE cooktop as part of a kitchen remodel and what a difference!! Burners light immediately and have a strong, steady gas flow. Burners reach a much higher temp than the old cooktop and maintain a consistent temp while in use. I like the lighted knobs since they keep me from "forgetting" to turn off the burners. And it's also just plain gorgeous!! Makes our "dated" oak cabinets look good.

We decided on this 30” cooktop because we liked the burner locations and the location of the light-up controls. This GE cooktop not only looks attractive, it is very functional.

While the cooktop works well, the material looks very lightweight and prone to scratches. Moreover, within a month the front knobs have started melting. Not happy about it at all, seems like a design flaw

This certainly isn't expected. Please try using barkeepers friend or Cremabryte on the stainless steel parts of your cooktop. Love this new cooktop, this replaced a GE 30" 4 burner black glass cooktop. I feel like it is much larger it is amazing the difference in moving the knobs from the side to the front. Much easier to clean than the black glass. Plenty of room for several pots on the cooktop. I have a griddle that I am able to use again because the left 2 burners are the same size. The only negative is the knobs are made of plastic and I don't see them lasting long.

    Great cooktop, suboptimal installation.

The GE cooktop is pretty nice as it cooks well, cleans up good, and has a nice touch with the LED lights under the knobs. The range has a little bow in the front of it and it does not lay entirely flush against the countertop. Or so I think the bow is in the cooktop, where the entire experience for this purchase was suboptimal is the installation. The GE literature does not lie in that it will fit in the place of an old cooktop, I was pleasantly surprised at this. However, the gas regulator on this model is much bigger than the almost 14 year GE cooktop that I replaced and that is where the issue is. The installer hooked everything up quickly but he did not and would not install an elbow pipe to move the regulator away from the rails for a drawer that is directly under the cooktop. Instead the installer told me to take the rail off of the drawer and cut it shorter so it would not hit the regulator, this is clearly suboptimal as the wheel on the rail would make the drawer sit lopsided in the channel when closed. Additionally the gas line ended up just being bent multiple times to make it fit behind all of the drawers in the cabinet instead of using a shorter gas line. The delivery was prompt, the haul away of my old unit that shorted out was easy, the cooktop is great (minus it not sitting flush but this could be the issue of the regulator up against the drawer rails), but the install really left a lot to be desired as I know have a cooktop that is not flush and a drawer under the cooktop that I can no longer use because the regulator hits up against the drawer rail and restricts free movement of the drawer. Due to COVID-19 and that rough period in late March through April where no business or anything else in life seemed to be functioning normally I've just been dealing with this. Unfortunately it seems like I'll have to pay another plumber to make the hookup right or else tackle it myself so I'll essentially have paid for installation twice.

PROS: 1. higher BTU's than most 2. 5 burners 3. lighted knob when burner on 4. easy to clean around burners 5. best option I found in a 30" cooktop CONS: 1. grates VERY heavy 2. wish rubber tips were on the grate rather than the cooktop: then the grate could be set down on countertop when cleaning and not worry about marring the surface (ok, it's quartz - but I still worry!) - also easy to mar the cooktop surface when replacing it 3. knob placement: the 2 in front on either side are positioned such that a pan can easily run into them - also when taking a large pan out of oven and setting it on the cooktop. This is a problem because the knobs aren't stainless, so could be easily damaged. There's plenty of room in the center front for the knobs... wonder why they didn't place them there - out of the way of any pan??? perhaps there's an issue with wiring them so close??? I notice this placement is common on 30" tops, so perhaps it is a wiring issue. My previous cooktop was 36" and knobs were more logically placed so they were never an issue.

Overall nice range, love the power burner, seems more precise cooking than last range. However, knobs are just cheap painted plastic, and have been scratched to reveal the white plastic underneath. Didn't take much and have no idea when it happened. Should be more durable for something in the "Profile" line. Backlighting is cool. Fit Guarantee is JUNK! Had a 30" GE Profile range with downdraft, which apparently means it has to be deeper than this one, so now I have a hole in my countertop behind this range. Even worse, the GE rep on the phone told me I would have to contact a steel fabricator to get a trim piece to cover the hole since GE doesn't make one. Seems ridiculous to have a fit guarantee when you're not making every style of 30" range the same dimensions. Check ALL of your existing dimensions before ordering, and do not rely on their "fit guarantee" that has ended up being worthless for me.

Bought this cooktop when our other one gave out. So far so good. We upgraded from a 4 burner to this 4 burner and I’m glad we did. The space on this cooktop is nice and the ease with how it lights makes this cooktop my favorite.

I had a black glass top cooktop until it cracked. We purchased this to replace. It is beautiful and gives your kitchen into a professional chef look. But the stainless steel is harder to clean than the glass top, the metal is so soft that it scratches easily, even just placing the grids on can scratch the metal, the rubber protectors pop out and get lost, and finally the knobs are plastic and the tops of the knob have melted TWICE. If the frying pan handle that gets hot is not in the right place it will melt the knob. Ordered extra knobs and rubber stoppers to have in stock!

Compared with our decade old previous ge stove top, the new stove to had one more burner and more power per burner. Stainless steel should be more durable than porcelain. Mote distance between cooktop floor and grill top means less clearance between stove top and hood. We ended up getting a new thinner microwave to restore the clearance we thought we needed for our taller pots.

Had old GE Profile stove top and replaced with new look after 15 years. Looks much better, scratched a little too easy with a paper towel on the front. I heard the knobs are plastic so being careful not to hit them with a pan and burn them. The backlit light under knob when burner is on, is a neat feature. The flames are even and heat up quickly. My old unit, everything was on med-high, this is much more hot at medium!
