    Good Camera

The picture quality is great and love how it is more suited to see all the area. Installation is pretty simple. Attaching the camera to the plate if you are using the angle piece is a little frustrating and it is also very annoying how you can only use this in the google home app even if you hard wire it. That is the reason for the deduction in stars. If it is hardwired you should have the ability to use the in the Nest app.

I like that it can use both battery and wired. New sleek look. I didn’t see any camera improvements. Can’t use in the Nest app when using battery.

Installs easy works well if you have no wiring as the battery keeps it operational I did not wire to my bell as I didn’t have enough room to mount it where the doorbell button is located I did however wire it to permanent power and use it solely as a camera There are limitations of the app even with the aware subscription if you can wire it go for the wired version

Something to keep in mind, this works outside the nest ecosystem, and app, being this is a nest home device it makes no sense they are staring to fracture the environment, makes no sense. But here are the issues why I might end up returning this device, from not so critical to unacceptable. 1- Will not work with the nest app, so the historical events need to be viewed on Google home app, which is not a streamlined app for historical events. 2- Being this is Google home only you will not be able to use the web browser on your PC to check nest recordings 3- Historical events are not showing under the Google home app, when I go to the events, the app will simply crash and force close. 4- To avoid crashing I need to go into the app, select the doorbell and then I can go to the historical events 5- Several events show on the time-line, but the actual recorded video is not found, is says "video is not found check again later" so if you are trying to figure out if a package was delivered, who rang your bell etc etc this is USELESS. 6- Same issues on a galaxy note S7+ , Samsung note S20+ , One plus 7 I will call google support tomorrow and see if this can be corrected, They ended up hanging the call when they couldn't figure out what's going on. If I get no help tomorrow, back it goes to Best Buy.

Hi there FreddyXZ2, thanks for making us aware of the missing recorded videos with the Google Home app, and for working with our support team. We apologize if we were not able to resolve the issue right away.

Using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools. Also, it provides you with seamless integration with your other Google devices. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

We appreciate that you will try to contact us once more to try and resolve the issue. Please do not hesitate to reach out us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi Kenndee, thanks for letting us know about the app issue with Nest Doorbell (Battery). We're sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing you.

Here are some recommended steps to ensure the best experience when setting up your Nest Doorbell (Battery):
      - Ensure that you are using a GMail account.
      - An Android mobile phone or tablet running Android 8.0 or later, or an iPhone or iPad device with iOS 14.0 or later.
      - Check for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
      - You may also check for possible sources of interference such as the thick walls and appliances in your home.

Please consider contacting our support team if the issue remains. We recommend contacting us for further troubleshooting and isolation here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi there, thanks for the feedback that you shared about the Nest Doorbell (battery), and we’re sorry to learn of your disappointment that the camera doesn’t work with the Nest app.

We understand that long time Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app, however, our priority with this launch was to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays, and to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant.

Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Your feedback means a lot to us. For any questions or concerns, please contact our specialists through our available support channels here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Buyer beware app and abilities lost with new model

Buyer beware! This does not connect to nest app (like previous products), and forces the use of the google he app which is nowhere near as user friendly. This inability to add it to the nest app has a negative effect on your ability to add this device as a “skill” with Alexa. In order for your doorbell to ring I was told I had to purchase another google device to make the audible chime indoors. As someone with 8-10 Alexa devices already, I’m really bummed I don’t have the option to utilize my current devices.

Hi ChrisLongen, thanks for posting your feedback. It’s unfortunate to hear that the new Nest Doorbell (Battery) didn’t meet your expectations. We understand that being able to control the device using Nest App is convenient.

The new Nest Doorbell (Battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams.
