First note: the Google Pixel 8 Pro phone refuses to play nicely with many other TWS. Many Samsung and Bose models/varieties became almost unusable, pressuring me into using "Made for Google" compatible gear, like the Pixel Buds Pro. I am still resentful of this, as it seems deliberate... Regardless, all of the feedback below is especially true if you pair with a Pixel phone or related Google device. Overall, they are excellent. They are very small, light, and comfortable buds, and the case is small and well-designed. The fit is surprisingly secure; I use them primarily at the gym while training and in the car. Features and connectivity are excellent. The sound quality is far better than I expected (I'm a pro audiophile reviewer), more than good enough for out and about. Noise cancellation is above average, not the best. The upside is that the ANC is not intrusive or disorienting. Transparency mode is excellent, and call handling and quality are above average. I have minor nitpicks... the white case very quickly picks up scratches and dark marks. With the fit and touch sensitivity near the edges, it's easy to take unwanted actions when inserting and removing the earbuds. More ear tips should be included, and you may have to find better alternatives to ensure you have the best fit and ear tip seal (look to Dekoni Audio for better tips).

These buds are everything I want out of earbuds at this price point. They last a full work day (8-10 hours in my case), the sound quality is excellent, people can hear me clearly on calls, and the transparency mode is more than adequate for my infrequent need of it. The touch controls are responsive and easy to use as well. Finally, they are comfortable in my ears all day. They stay firmly in the ear, without slipping or falling out. I do have a pixel phone, so I can't speak to how they perform without the pixel-specific features.

I thought my Bose quiet comfort buds were the best I ever had but my pixel buds pro paired with my pixel 6 phone & pixelbook laptop are awesome & best ever. Pros: for me are the small size,I can finally wear my NORTHFACE beanie on my head without buds sticking out sides & having cold ears. Noise cancellation is definitely on par with my Bose quiet comfort buds, sound is crisp & base filled definitely loud.Multipoint switching from laptop to phone or phone to bluetooth speaker is what I was missing that my Bose QC's don't have. I get lots of playtime hours & they charge up swiftly. Love the transparency mode it allows me to be observing of my surroundings while out & about while listening enjoying my Amazon unlimited music playlists. Still waiting on my phone to be updated so I can test spatial audio that they do have now &Bose QC's don't have. Lightning fast pairing & no connectivity issues. Cons: If you own a pixel phone you don't have a app to control your buds or to update buds. It's already baked into your pixel phone settings & you need to add this setting on to your screen display which really isn't a con once you add it to your screen giving you instant control. 2.Top of charging case isn't strong & will definitely open if you drop it allowing your buds to come out. So I do advise that you buy a case with a button closure to protect from drops.

Have been waiting for these 1.) Fit & Feel: (Feel more comfortable than previous generations) The unique shape seems to be more ergonomic to ME. The fins are missing but then again I don't think these need them 2.) Connectivity: Rock solid connection! No cut-outs at all, very pleased with this 3.) ANC: Gets the job done! ANC is a tier below the Sony LinkBuds S and better than the any of new Jabra Elite line up (7 Pro, & Active, etc.) ANC is not as good as the Beats Fit Pro but surprisingly close to the AirPods Pro 4.) Sound: This is where I was left wanting more! I went back and forth with these and Pixel Buds A Series, and I feel a little more thump in the bass department with those than these Pixel Buds Pro. Sound is subjective but I feel as if they took the direction of AirPods Pro and wanted to go for a more neutral profile. The Mids are not as present as they are on the AirPods Pro but the overall soundstage blows those out of the water. I really hope they can add the bass boost effect with the slider like they did on the Pixel Buds A, as I feel this would really make these that much better! Overall an above average sound but did expect more 5.) Price: I feel it sits perfect between the $179-$199 mark any more and this would be very hard to justify as there are superior TWS sets on the market. I do recommend, just be aware these are not bass canons, and there is serious competition out there

Comfort: 5/5 I upgraded from the Gen 1 Pixel Buds (the ones with the wingtips) and these are easily much more comfortable to wear for longer times. Despite the lack of wingtips in these, they actually stay in my ear better and don't need to be constantly adjusted, nor give me the "worried they'll fall out" feeling. Sound: 4/5 The sound quality is really good, however a minor nitpick is that I have to bring the volume to about 70% to hear things when watching videos. Battery life: 5/5 I use these during work with moderate use, and I can get away with charging every 2-3 days (instead of every night). Pairing + Swapping 5/5: With the Fast Pair integration (if you're using a Pixel), these will register seamlessly. They also swap seamlessly between my Pixel 7 and my iPad Pro, which is really nice. (Keep in mind this feature is off by default.) And....that's it. These are a really solid pair of earbuds. As of writing this on December 7, there is no Spatial audio, but that has been said to arrive in a January update.

Huge upgrade from my normal pair of earbuds. I love the quick connectivity, the auto silence feature for conversations, and the fit. Speaking of the fit, on occasion I find that they work themselves out slightly, not enough to fall out but enough to break the seal in my ear. I think that when this happens its mostly because I didn't "twist" them in, so more of a user error than a product defect.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro are the real deal. I have avoided ear buds for the longest time. Mainly because I don't like ear buds since they tend to fall out of my ear constantly. Not these. Now I don't use these to workout, but I do wear them when walking and moving around and they stay in place. The technology these buds pack into such a tiny little package for the price ($150 when I bought them) is quite remarkable. The active noise canceling is phenomenal, the switch between two actively connected devices is also fantastic. I can use them while connected to my phone and laptop and the switch between the two when I get a phone call and log into a WebEx/Zoom on my laptop is seamless. My first experience using these buds were in a crowded and noisy restaurant. I had to respond to a work issue and used the buds to contact different people and also used them to connect through a WebEx session. The sound was clear and the noise isolation was perfect. I could hear the person on the other end and the ambient restaurant noise was almost completely canceled out. Also, the person on the other end of the call could hear me clearly and couldn't hear the background noise. They just worked flawlessly. The touch controls work great, but they take some time to get used to. Google Assistant also works well. Not perfect, but works well. When you have so many Google/Nest devices in your house, the buds don't always respond to the commands, but when away from my home, the assistant works well to control my phone and get updates through the buds. This was a solid purchase and Google knocked this one out of the park.

As a Pixel 6 Pro phone user, I already live in the Pixel ecosystem. And while I already own many top rated headphones and ear buds. I wanted to try the new Pixel Pro Buds for the promises they put forth in there Google I/O announcement. So far, they seem to live up to some of the hype, Spatial Audio is MIA. Audio is hiccup free, amazing battery life (11 hours!), touch that works well for rough fingers and fit is far better than expected given the jelly bean appearance. Definitely a set of buds to consider in this price range. Great for those who work with noisy equipment like mowers. Fit: SUPER Light and Comfortable. Even without fins and no notable sign of what will hold them in your ear. These fit great and very comfortable for me, a man with sort of small ears. Just insert in ear and rock them down to lock in place. They are effortless to pop in and they stayed put for several hours of yard work string trimming and mowing (walking and riding) my property. I did not notice any slippage from perspiration, though, I never noticed very wet ears from exertion or exercise. If inserted with the proper tip and rocked down into the ear fold. These stay put. Sound: Easily in the top (might climb to number 1) of my favorite ear buds. Plenty of audio range for the everyday music I listen to from country to pop to rock. Bass is pretty good even though there is lack of slider EQ settings. Google went with "Volume EQ" that tweaks audio based on volume level. Works ok, but I would prefer to also use a standard slider EQ in the native app. As for Noise Cancellation. The Pixel Buds Pro are in the top tier for me, while mowing they did tend to let a touch more engine noise from my commercial zero turn. Now this is likely an extreme use to expect the buds to keep out. But, I have a pair of buds that do. So, if I can hear just a tad bit of engine from a loud mower, MOST will find these more than sufficient for noise environments. Features: Touch response is very good. I have rough hands and fingers and touch controls and screens often are not perfect for me. These have never missed when I catch the touch surface correctly. Simple taps for advance and previous tracks and long hold for assistant or toggle noise cancellation. Even the slide forward or backward for volume has been pretty reliable. All work better than expected for me. I will say that the wireless charging case is nice, BUT, the Buds are a bit fiddly to remove from case. They go back in far easier. And if you forget/refuse to learn the controls. There are voice prompts to help learn new features like calls and notifications as they happen. Final thoughts: I hope Google releases an update to add Spatial Audio soon. It is missing as of August update, but promised soon. Please add slider EQ to app please. For those with Pixel Phones. The app for the Buds is likely already installed. But odd to me, it is not visible. You need to add a widget to see it (long press on home screen, Widgets/Pixel Buds/Place on screen).

    Well-designed noise cancelling Android earbuds

I chose these earbuds because I wanted something small that did not stand out in my ear and due to the great quality of the other Google devices I own - even if they have a few quirks. I have used these earbuds around the house listening to music, online meetings and for a few long calls. I really expected to use them mostly for music, but they have proven to be extremely useful for multitasking at work. The subtle design means I can wear them without too much attention. I can focus on my meeting using noise cancelling, but quickly toggle to transparency mode to answer an in-person question or say hi. Pros - Sound quality is very good, but the lack of a true EQ might be an issue for some. Max volume is loud with no distortion (I normally listen at 60-70%). Even without adjustment the sound is generally well balanced/natural and clear. I even noticed a few details I had missed in some of my favorite songs while listening to these. What keeps them from being truly great for me is that the soundstage feels too narrow and there is not enough emphasis on highs and lows - making some music with a wide range seem flat. Google may have read my mind, because one of the other features I have hear they plan to introduce later is spatial audio and I can’t wait to try it. - Noise cancelling is very effective, cutting background noise significantly with nothing playing. At even moderate volume, the tight seal in the ear and active noise cancelling block out all but the loudest background noise. - Transparency mode is a great feature that is the opposite of noise cancelling. It helps you hear background noise, blending it in to what you are listening to, so that you can talk with people in person and hear things around you (like hearing cars when you are on a walk). - Works well as a headset for online meetings and phone calls. Audio was clear on my end and people I called said I sounded as good or better than when using my cellphone. - Great battery life. I used these for about 6 hours a day for 2 days without charging the case and still had 100% for the buds with 21% remaining in the case. This was with noise cancelling ON, which does reduce battery life by a third or more. -I like the clean white design of the case, which recharges the earbuds and protects them. The case can be charged via USB-C or wireless charger. I have a wireless charger on my desk, and it is very convenient, but Google does not include a USB-C cable or charger. The case has a single, color changing LED to indicate battery level and connection status, but you can also view the battery level of both the case and earbuds in the Google Pixel Buds app. -Good fit. They feel secure and are comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time. I used the pre-attached medium ear-tips, but Google includes a small and large size as options. -They can be paired to 2 devices at once and switch based on which is active. This was not perfect for me, sometimes I had to force the first phone to disconnect to hear audio on the second. When it works it is great and I still liked being able to toggle between two phones without having to re-pair every time. -They work well with Google assistant to cover basic request and commands without picking up your phone. Things to Consider - A lot of features require the Pixel Buds App, which is only on Android. I have used them with my work iPhone and the sound is good, but it would be frustrating if I did not have access to an Android phone to change touch controls setting and enable multi-device support. Not to mention the app has some cool features like a test to confirm you have a good ear seal. - Even with an Android phone, the app settings and functions are limited. No equalizer or adjustable music genre modes - the only sound settings are noise cancelling and Volume EQ (which adjust the sound for better response at lower volumes). No customization for touch control short cut commands you control by touching each ear bud (swipe back and forth for volume works great, but I hate the double tap to hang up and wish I could change it - single tap is answer so don’t miss!). You only have the option to set the long press touch control for each bud to either Google Assistant or Noise Cancelation/Transparency/Off. - No high resolution/HD/lossless audio support in this price range is disappointing, but not a deal breaker since I mostly listen to streaming audio and only have a few lossless files.

Overall the device is fantastic. They fit well and are relatively comfortable over long periods of time. Love being able to control the use of noise canceling and transparency mode by touch. Touch controls can be a bit sensitive when running and wiping sweat off of your face but you can disable the touch controls for that situation. The only con would be the max volume could be a bit louder but the bass install sound quality sounds amazing.

In the box you get the case, earbuds, and three sized ear tips. Case feels solid and is easy to hold and small enough to carry in pocket. Size-wise the earbuds are a tad bigger than the Pixel Buds A series. I have included a picture of both for comparison. Note there is no cable or power brick in box. It came pretty juiced up but to charge them you use a existing usb-c cable or wireless charging is supported as well. I got charcoal but all the color options this year look great. Connecting to my Pixel phone was as easy as it gets. I opened the case after unboxing and my phone just prompted me to connect to them. I then proceeded to go though the setup wizard and updating the firmware to latest version. There is some customization in the pixel settings app as well. The fit in ear is right on for me. If I shake my head around they do not fall out. One thing that does annoy me though is that I am constantly taping the touch buttons when I put them in my year which is usually changing the volume and what not. I guess I need to get better at putting them in without touching the end of the bud. The touch controls and in ear detection is very responsive. Pause, volume up/down, skip, and trigger google assistant. They have three modes. active noise cancelling, transparency mode, and off. Each one changes how you hear surrounding sounds and each one has a purpose for the environment you are in. Weather thats in a noisy place or out in public and need to be more alert of your surroundings. One other thing thats starting to become more popular with newer headphones/earbuds is you can pair them to multiple devices. In my case these are paired to both my phone and pc so I can switch back and forth depending on what I'm doing. The integration with the Android eco system is where the functionality really kicks in. You have notifications, google assistant, and they work with Google Translate. They can help you interpret a language you don't speak in real time! As for sound quality I was surprised. They do sound really good for small ear buds. Better than my galaxy buds and the previous gen pixel buds. But not quite as good as some others that cost a bit more. That's the catch here. From what I have used, these are the best sounding ear buds in this price range. I was a bit disappointed I couldn't customize the EQ but honestly they sound just right to me out of the box so I'm not sure I would make any adjustments anyway. Overall I think these are the pixel buds we have been waiting for. They fit well, sound great, and integrate with Googles Android OS. These are the best Pixel Buds yet!

I think Google might have perfected the ear bud fit. These are the best fitting ear buds I have ever tried. For Android users, they are easy to set up. They sound good. In my opinion, they have the best gesture controls. Wireless charging and a great travel case are icing on the cake. They’re not the loudest ear buds I have ever owned, but audio has been good. For the moment, there is no spatial audio, EQ options are limited to a volume equalizer, and there is no hi-res audio. But, to my ears, audio was clear. Sounds were recreated well. Music and voice calls sounded clear. The built-in microphones pick up the speaker’s voice well and do a good job filtering out background noises. If you’re an Android user or locked in to the Google Ecosystem of devices, I think these are very easy to recommend. Setup: In the box you have the buds in the case, small and large bud tips, and a small instruction pamphlet. There is no charging cable, but the case supports USB-C charging. I have a Google Pixel 6 and a Samsung Galaxy S22. On the Pixel 6, the Pixel Buds App was built-in to the interface. On the S22, you will need to download the app from the Appstore. After opening the case for the Pixel Buds Pro, I got a pairing request on my Android devices. Expect some firmware updates out of the box. Experience: The buds fit great. I used the default ear tips. I’ve lost track of the number of earbuds that just slowly work their way out of my ears. I really love the gesture controls on these earbuds. “Hey Google” integration has worked great. The software interface is easy to use. Audio quality has always been a sticking point with buds. I think these buds sound good. They’re not the loudest earbuds, but I found the volume to be loud enough. Audio was never uncomfortable or shrill to my ears. I wish they supported high-res audio. Spatial audio is a feature that will be coming later. So, for the time being, no Dolby Atmos support. Still, audio has been super clear. Highs and lows have generally sounded good. If you’re listening to more acoustic audio, you can make out fine audio details. They may not support high res audio, but they still sound pretty good. Active noise cancellation works well. Transparency mode did a good job letting ambient noise into the earbuds so you can hear your surroundings. Noise cancelling was effective without being disorienting. Sometimes, noise cancellation can make me feel dizzy like I am suffering from an inner ear problem, these did not do that. You should know that noise cancellation comes with a battery life hit. With Noise cancellation turned on, you will be looking at around seven hours of battery life on a full charge. One feature I was eager to try out was having Google translate in my ear. And, it worked, but it wasn’t as simple or easy as I thought it would be. It works, but It isn’t automatic. You have to hold down whichever bud you have set to your Google Assistant. You speak and the app translates what you say back. That worked. I never could figure out how to get the process to translate foreign languages I was listening to. And if you have to switch back and forth in the app from which language is being spoken and which language is being translated, it all gets a bit cumbersome and confusing. Still, cool idea and I hope it keeps getting better, simpler, and more intuitive. In terms of durability, the buds aren’t waterproof. The IPX4 makes the buds splash resistant. But don’t go submerging them in water any time soon. The buds can be added to “find my device”. Conclusion: I really like these buds. The overall package is impressive. I feel like audio quality is good but could be a bit louder. High-Res audio support would be nice. But, audio is rich and detailed I love how these buds fit and their simple and intuitive gestures. I’m pretty sure I will compare every future set of buds to these. They are that impressive. If you’re an Android owner, I think these are very easy to recommend. 4.5/5

These earbuds are excellent. In the box, you’ll find the case (earbuds inside with medium ear-tips), 2 sets of additional ear-tips (small and large), and some documentation. The reviewer documentation that was sent by Google stated that the retail box also contains a USB-C to USB-A charging cable… I didn’t see one, but everyone already has 30 of them, right? However, I didn’t even bother with a cable, I just tossed them on the wireless charger. The case reminds me of a slightly oversized, rounded off box of dental floss, and when I opened the top to try the earbuds and unlocked my phone, the pairing/installation process started automatically. I left the medium tips on the earbuds and the fit is practically perfect. The noise cancellation does a great job, and these earbuds (according to the reviewer docs) measure the pressure in the ear canal and can actively relieve it… and it’s very noticeable as far as comfort and wearability goes; some of the other earbuds I have with noise cancellation make my ears feel ‘tired’ after 10-15 minutes, but I’ve worn these for hours and could’ve worn them hours more. I assume the ‘tired’ feeling I felt was a buildup of pressure… who knew? I believe these are the most comfortable earbuds I’ve ever tried. As far as the sound goes, I listen to music and podcasts, and both sound great. The call quality is also outstanding. I had a friend call me at the gym, which is a rather noisy environment, and he was amazed that I wasn’t speaking straight into the phone. As far as fit goes, I’ve had no trouble with these earbuds at the gym and on runs. Through all kinds of sweat, I haven’t had any problem whatsoever with them even beginning to feel like they were going to fall out. The only issue I’ve had so far is that, out of habit, I’ll reach up to check one of them and I’ll accidently pause playback. Overall, I think these earbuds are a homerun for Google; they’re small, have many innovative features, sound great, and once you put them in your ears, you practically forget they’re there. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
