Filing your tax return is never a fun experience, but H&R Block takes most of the heavy lifting off with an easy to use interface, and a fairly straightforward process. Once installed, and the app launched, you'll find a welcome page with some simple tasks to get you started, and on your way to filing online. If you're stuck, the Help Center does a good job of explaining the required fields, or clarifying some tax questions. I appreciated the easy to find "Help" options to speak with a Chat Agent, and even chat with a tax pro. Although, I did find a bit of a wait time to connect with someone (likely due to peak demand). From the welcome screen, you can "Start A Return," update the software, file an extension, and even check the status of your filed return. Your saved returns are displayed at the bottom for easy reference or to continue filing. The only issue I ran into, in the setup, was importing my previous year return using PDF. I kept getting a 400 error (Bad Request) while trying to upload a clean copy of my previous year return. When attempting this method, the import would take several minutes, only to return a pop up with the error. This necessitated me entering the information manually, from the PDF file. I'm not entirely sure why this was the case, given it's only a couple of pages, on a federal form, with no watermarks. This failed to work even after restart of the app, and making sure the PDF file was readable (no password, etc). I even printed to PDF a copy from my online tax return from the previous year, with the same result. However, if you've used H&R or TurboTax software last year, you can "import" the tax file (saved with either a T18 or Tax18 file extension). I didn't see a way to import from the online filed portal, so this import session wasn't the greatest experience for me (resulting in a knock down from 5 stars). Outside of that issue, I didn't experience any other trouble, and the step by step method of entry made this easy to finish out my return. Being a homeowner, I was able to find a couple of other deductions to take advantage of, which was nice! The electronic filing was error free, and I'm already waiting on my return to be accepted by the IRS. I live in a state that doesn't have an income tax, but the software does a good job of making sure you didn't have income in another state that would require filing. Overall, aside from the import issue, the software was easy to use, the informative help center made answering questions easy, and the app made sure I didn't have any errors prior to filing. The price is similar, if not lower, than other tax filing solutions, making this an easy recommendation.

Great software and inexpensive too. I’ve been using this income tax return software for over a decade. It is very easy to use and much cheaper than TurboTax.

I have used this software for a few years and it is easy to use and it even has a deduction finder. I highly recommend it.

I had a few more quirks than usual with my long time Quicken so just to feel at ease I put the same situation through with this one. Results - Exactly the same! Although it uses slightly different questions than Quicken which give it what seems a different slant (and less businesslike) in approach it was easy to interpret. I did not compare it's explanations of examples to be fair as I already knew them for Quicken. The E-Filing only took 7 days for it to reach my bank account.

I am very pleased with this product. I have a fairly complicated tax return and the software does most of the work. The only drawback is that it takes a little while to figure out how to call someone if necessary. The really nice thing is that much of the information can be uploaded from prior years so that eliminates a lot of the required entry.

H & R Block tax software has been my go to tax program for many years.... I started out using Turbo Tax the first few years but they raised their prices on the 'basic' addition. Switched H & R Block and have always been able to complete the filing process with ease and confidence of their support should there be a problem. Works well with Mac OS too.

Been using this a long time but had to switch to TT because it cannot auto download my stock trades due to maximum number of trades it downloads. More than the maximum, it advises you to see their tax preparer. Still recommend, but not for day traders.

I've used H&R Block basic for several years running. I can transfer information from year to year with no hassle. The software is pretty user friendly, although the tax regulations and forms required can be confusing at times. I file electronically and have had no problems.

I love using H & R Block for my taxes. I am able to share the e files with my family members as well. Anyone can use this and do there taxes. You answer easy to follow questions and have never had an issue. Be your own tax person, stop paying $$ to others. Do it yourself!!

Been using H&R Block for several years now. Seems very user friendly and have never had any problems figuring out my entries. Granted, my tax situation is pretty stratight-forward, but I recommend it.

This tax software is organized, easy to understand, and leads the user through a structured series of questions that results in an error free completion of your past year tax return and the internet filing process.

I have used this software package between 5 and 10 years. I have been pleased with it. I have pretty simple taxes. My only complaint is that it has you figure some tax items yourself, that is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

I found the software easy to use. If there are unconventional entries, it warns you and allows you to proceed after double checking.
