As a longtime user of TurboTax, I've always relied on its convenience and efficiency in handling my taxes. However, this year, I encountered a significant issue that left me frustrated and seeking alternatives. Despite being a loyal customer for years, I faced an unexpected obstacle when TurboTax refused to allow me to download my software, claiming that my activation code was already in use by another user. This issue not only disrupted my tax preparation process but also wasted valuable time as I attempted to resolve it. Regrettably, the support provided by TurboTax was subpar, failing to offer any meaningful solution even after spending over an hour on the phone. The lack of resolution and assistance only added to my frustration and left me questioning the reliability of the service. In my moment of need, H&R Block emerged as a saving grace. With their user-friendly interface, I swiftly transitioned to their platform and completed my taxes hassle-free. The seamless experience from H&R Block left a lasting impression, convincing me to make the switch permanently. While my history with TurboTax has been generally positive, this recent experience has highlighted the importance of reliable customer support and seamless functionality. Moving forward, I will continue to rely on H&R Block for my tax preparation needs, grateful for their dependable service and support when it mattered most.

Easy to use. Imports data from previous years. Would give 5 stars if it would get me out of paying taxes altogether : )

I purchased this product to do my 2023 taxes. My return could not be submitted electronically despite many attempts. Apparently, there was a server problem with H&R. They initially charged me to submit my return after each failed attempt so there were multiple holds by placed upon my card. Those were eventually cleared but held on my card for many days. Throughout the process, I sought telephone-based help from H&R more many times but after holding for over an hour, i would be disconnected. Likewise, many chat attempted were closed prior to receiving assistance. I never was able to submit my taxes through use of this product. I had to print paper returns and mail them in from the post office on tax day. The company offered me $20 off of next year’s product to compensate me for all of the hassle, but I have requested and am hoping to receive a refund.

I buy this software every year - have been doing so for the last 10 years. I think it is a better value than others available, and prefer to do my taxes on my local computer as opposed to online. It is easy to use. The reason I only rated it with 4 stars is that to e-file your state taxes costs $19.95, which is almost as much as I paid for the software itself! You get 5 free federal e-files, but each state e-file costs extra, and you only get one state tax with this package. So, just be aware of extra costs. I just submit my state taxes on the Maryland website once I prepare them in H&R Block.

Reasonable and affordable price, easy and understandable process, convenient to efiled, fast refund

Very easy to use, will import data from your bank or brokerage accounts. Also you can manually enter your info. If you used TurboTax last year it will import info into your new return. An efile both state and federal return. I have used for several years.

Filing taxes is never fun. But this H&R Block software makes the job much easier, especially if you file electronically. Download the software, run the setup file, and have your tax documents ready. This software will walk you through every step. I won't say that it's fun to use - you have to do a LOT of reading to determine if various situations apply to you or not. But keep going, step by step, and you will eventually finish your federal return. Then, you enter your state, and it downloads the software for your state. Much of the state return is auto-filled from your federal return, making the state return easier. Again, you have to read through many tax scenarios that may not apply to you, but you will eventually reach the end. The software then checks for missing fields, which you can correct. Once both returns are verified, the software then gives you the option to print the returns, or file electronically. Filing the federal return electronically is free. Your state may charge a electronic filing fee (Maryland does), which can often be paid by credit card. Once all those tasks are done, you sign your returns electronically, and transmit. The status of your return will be sent to your email address, letting you know if your return was accepted. I won't say that it's fun, but this is as easy as filing your taxes gets.

This will be my 8th year using this tax preparation software. It does everything I need to file my taxes. It is also much cheaper than competitor Turbo Tax, which is the reason I switched to this product eight years ago.

Very good product. Almost always accurate except for an occasional glitch; worth checking for accuracy. Very easy to use. Tools are there to easily fill out a tax form and seek a rebate or send payment.

Oh boy, getting it from Best Buy is great: last year I got it from the company named after a river in South America and they messed it up - I had to use it on my old windows lap top and not my new Mac laptop. Irritating! Easy to specify Mac (or Windows) and that's what I got. Great program: picks up all details off of the last Tax year (It translated the Windows program file, no problem), just enter the easy answered questions and before you know it, I was done! The great thing is peace of mind as they have a team to help if the tax man has any desire to audit. The IRS return is electronic but the State return is an extra $20. You do have the option to print and mail the State return, which I have been doing- it's easier on the pocket and costs the certified mail cost only.

I've used it for many years now. This year's version was relatively easy...better than some years for initial download and subsequent updates. There were a few minor things, I wish were worded more clearly, but have done it long enough to get by with confidence.

I've purchased H&R Block tax software for years (and before that the Taxcut software). Meets my needs for tax preparation. Had to contact H&R Block once regarding a question on how to complete a tax form and the person was clear in their instructions and I was able to complete and submit the forms. I've been very satisfied over the years with the software and appreciate as I get older that installing it and updating it on new PC's remains a consistent process. I only wish it was easier to access older versions of the software on newer PC's. There should be some type of viewer function to allow older tax forms to be opened on new PC's without relying solely on PDF versions. Sometimes it's nice to go back into the software itself.

TurboTax is WAY overpriced. I have been using H&R Block for years and it has never let me down. It is easy to use, easy to follow and gets your refunds FAST! It even carries over your previous tax returns.

I have been using this H & R Block tax software since it came out in about 2024. It is accurate and saves me a lot of time when I can input my data quickly. And, it also lets me know when I have invalid entries. I highly recommend H & R Deluxe & State tax softward.

I switched to this software after years of using TurboTax, and am glad I did. This software was easy to install and use, and easily made use of my previous years TurboTax returns. The icing on the cake is that I got a fantastic deal on the package!

Very easy to work for first time doing my own taxes and results were were great. No issues with IRS or State tax returns. Highly recommend.

I have used this DIY tax software for the last several years. It’s less expensive than the competing software and, according to several industry reviews, it works just as good.

One of the easiest software I have ever used. I always use it because how practical and affordable it is. I will keep buying and recommending H&R.
