Great Bluetooth speaker for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased both Alexa Eco Dot and Harmon Kardon Invoke with Cortana. I was able to make them both work. Basically Alexa plays music and when needed plays through the HK box. Have best of both. I say “Alexa connect Speaker” to use HK. And when done I say “Alexa disconnect speaker”. Works beautifully. Alexa’s listening is better than the Cortana. I can get attention of Alexa from further distance than Cortana. But for $129 I have a very good Alexa Cortana solution where both use the better speaker.

This is a nice speaker...Cortana! Woohoo
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound = GREAT Bass = GREAT Build Quality = GREAT Setup = EASY & FAST Price = Fair I like this speaker, because it's louder than ANY other smart speaker with voice that I have. It's very nice, and it just looks amazing. The touch controls there, but I always forget to use them. I just give her basic commands, and that's good enough for me. Play music; turn on the lights' turn off the lights; play something from an artist I pick. Cons: You can't use Apple Music, and you have to use premium services for specific songs. I'm currently on Apple Music most of the time, which is the one I pay for. So Spotify and iHeart Radio are my only options for now.

Great sound!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HK speaker sounds great! High quality construction, and looks awesome! I put 4 stars because I had a lot of problems setting up the speaker with Cortana app in iPhone 7 Plus, I think they have to fix that problem. After trying everything for 30 minutes suddenly it worked fine connecting WiFi from the iPhone settings not from the App and so far I liked it! I was between this one and the new Sonos One with Alexa, the reason I chose the Invoke is because Sonos doesn’t have Bluetooth ando think this one has a better looking, other than that I think Sonos is a really good option too. I use to have the SoundTouch 10 by Bose, compared to this one I would say the hi frequencies are very similar, low frequencies definitely Bose wins, but HK Invoke has better looking and is a smart speaker, so far is working perfectly and I’m happy with it!

Harman Kardon Invoke – An MS 'Work' In Progress
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box this is an impressive device. It is a Grey, cone-shaped, artistic looking perforated, speaker tower with complimentary, muted black at the bottom and at the tapered top. It has a heavy 'feel' to it even though it only weighs approximately 2.3 pounds. I like the modern design of this unit. It looks good anywhere I place it in my living spaces. What's In The Box? * Invoke Speaker Tower – Approximately 9 ½ “ Tall. * Power Cord – Approximately 48” in Length. * Warranty Card & Registration Information – Limited One Year Warranty * Safety Instructions * MS Cortana Product Information * Invoke User and Set-Up Guide Being familiar with MS Cortana on three of my devices, I was anxiously looking forward to use the Harman Karman Invoke, voice-activated speaker for test and review. After a week of daily use here are my opinions: Pros With Restrictions: ** Sound Quality – It is impressive with 360 degrees of rich, vibrant, clear voice treble, and full, profound bass. There are three compact woofers, along with three tweeters and two passive radiators driving the dynamics of bass sound reproduction. You can turn the volume up with a twist of the top ring and make the sound as loud as you want. It fills my room. ** Voice – Cortana's voice is consistent over all MS devices. She has a very pleasing voice, as a digital assistant should sound, in your home. What I like is that she responds quickly to commands and questions, and, has a built-in sense of humor with wacky facts. ** FREE Skype Calling - Free MS Skype calling from the US to mobile phones and landlines in the US, Canada and Mexico. Activate by Sept 1, 2018. Limit 2 free subscriptions per speaker. I paired my phone and Invoke through Bluetooth. Then, I set-up my Skype account in the Cortana App. I can now call anyone on mobile, or landline through my Skype and, or, phone contacts using voice-activated Cortana on Invoke, FREE for a year. ** Listening Range – I have my Invoke on a lamp table in my living room. I can go approximately 40' away from the unit in any direction and Cortana understands my voice commands through Harman’s SONIQUE TM far-field voice recognition technology. It has seven microphones, and a 40 watt amplifier, more then any of its competitors. YooHoo! ** Microsoft Account – You need to have a valid MS Account to access after downloading the FREE Cortana App for IOS, Google, or Windows 10. ** Plays both fee-subscription music ( Spotify) and FREE stations (IHeart & TuneIn) also. At this time there is no support for any other streaming music stations on Invoke. - - - However, I paired my phone with Invoke and played other music services like (Pandora and ITunes), but Cortana is limited to volume control, play, pause, and previous/next track using Bluetooth. ** Connects easily to 5.0 GHz or 2.4 GHz, WI-FI, radio bands on your router (need password). You can use your existing Cortana App on your PC, download on your Phone, or listen too Cortana's voice-activated, set-up instructions by tapping the top of unit after powering it up. Additionally, Invoke WI-FI is 802.11b/g/n/ac, primarily made for 5 GHz, and is many times faster than 802.11b/g/n. Invoke will work on 2.4GHz radio frequency also. ** No Commercials, whatsoever, other then those that pop-up on your music stations. WooHoo! ** Ask Cortana Anything - She will give you your answer based on MS Bing searches over the Internet. - - - No other 'search-engines' are supported at this time. ** Calendars - Cortana can connect to MS Outlook and recognize events listed there, add, or change, accordingly, and also MS Office 365 accounts. Cortana works across your devices. - - - At this time there is no support for any other type of calendar service. ** Control your Smart-Home devices. I have a Nest home thermostat that I can use Cortana to raise or lower the temperature by using my voice. Invoke works with, Philips Hue, Nest, Wink, SmartThings, Samsung Smart Home and Insteon. - - - MS is now working with companies like Honeywell, Johnson Controls, etc. for additional services for Cortana. There is a comprehensive list of skills and such compatible with Cortana at the MS home page. ** Simple Controls – Starting at the top is a Touch-Sensitive Pad. Just below the pad is a Volume Ring, which turns in either direction. At the front of the base of Invoke is a WI-FI, status LED. On the back of the base is a Bluetooth Pairing Button, Microphone ON/OFF Button, and a Factory Reset Button. On the bottom inside is the j120V power connection and an Micro-USB for 'service' only. Light displays on top let you know what is happening. - - - There is no 3.5 mm jack for Input/Output to connect an outside music source or another speaker. ** Notifications & Information Across Devices – I synced my PC notifications to my Smart Phone through the 'Settings' in my Cortana App. I turned ON, 'Send notifications and information between devices', and when my phone came up, I allowed it as trusted device. - - - However, Invoke can only handle one MS account at this time, the one it was set-up for only. Information, notifications, and calendars cannot be shared by multiple-users. Cons: * Cortana has difficulties at times recognizing different voices. * Invoke is basically a 'stand-alone' speaker - cannot pair with other speakers in my home. * One MS account, and, only MS support limits the great potential, future use, of Invoke. * The 120V power plug is enormous. It takes up three outlets on my surge protector strip. * If I am using my laptop both Cortana's respond at the same time to any of my commands. * No TV or Gaming control. Not integrated with services like Netflix, Xbox, etc. Summary: Having been a fan of MS for over 20 years, I think that MS Invoke with Cortana is truly 'a work-in-progress'. As a speaker the sound is far superior to the other major, voice-activated, digital assistants I have heard in friends homes. I love the richness of the mid-ranges and full bass in my living room. There is no doubt in my mind that MS will roll out numerous 'skills' for Cortana in the near future even though the competition is definitely way ahead of Cortana at this time. However, you have to consider a year's worth of FREE, unlimited, MS Skype domestic and international calls is a 'bargain' in itself. Even with my listed restrictions, I highly recommend the purchase of the Harman Kardon Invoke with Cortana. It is a FUN device that will only get better in the near future. Go for it!

Broken after 3 years of use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speaker was great at first but once you stop using it and come back to plug it up. The sign in will not work to reset up or disconnect and trying to reinstall it again. I hate I bought this for it now to work after so long when I could have purchased a cheaper speaker one which would have lasted a long longer.

Packs a Punch with Great Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Harmon never disappoints and today was no different. My Invoke looks beautiful on my kitchen counter nestled amongst other tools. The height is great, the crisp speaker grill is sexy, the matted turn dial for volume is smooth and I love that the lights are frosted and not cheap looking. The sound is at the amazing Harmon standard and it has well rounded fullness. Mozart while cooking never sounded so amazing. I had people over while cooking some pasta and the Invoke performed to my liking and was a conversation starter. Great speaker and my only refinement would be the Cortana app that supports Windows. I have Cortana on my laptop and it just isn’t seamless yet. I’m sure time will tell so don’t let that deter you! All holiday music will stream over the Invoke now! I’m quite excited for more visitors to enjoy the Invoke with me.

So Far So Good :) Lot of learning to do ....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A Microsoft fan for life, I chose the Invoke over the competition and I am happy with what I got.. Easy set-up , great sound , solid build and the sweet sounding Cortana. That said, I believe it is still new and learning and I am sure there is more to come with multiple services integration. It will be interesting to see what is there in the journey ahead for Cortana. I wish there was Spotify regular (without premium subscription) …however iHeart Radio and TuneIn are just fine. Skype Calling works just fine. I wish it could look at multiple calendars and accounts … I don’t know, I am still learning though…. Awesome product…you would not be disappointed with the immense capabilities of a smart speaker and Invoke IS good!

Great Sound, Beautiful Design, Easy to Use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loving the Harman Kardon Invoke smart speaker. It integrates very well with my Samsung Galaxy S8 and Surface Pro devices. The Spotify integration is great and I love being able to turn on music without grabbing my phone. I have put one of these in the kitchen, bathroom, and living room. The sound quality is excellent for a speaker of this size, has great tone and good bass. Also, the Skype integration is awesome (it includes 1 year of unlimited Skype calling to North America). I like being able to make phone calls from across the room - my 4 year old loves it the most because she can now call "Granny" by asking Cortana to call her. This will be a great Christmas gift and I am glad it works across Windows/iOS/Android. Looking forward to future improvements to the software.

Great sound quality / Cortana is really good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sale price ($99) made this purchase much easier than the original list price. I had read reviews about it and heard people speak about it's quality sound (being from Harman Kardon). It lived up to the reviews - sound quality is absolutely great. Easily fills a large family room/kitchen area and beyond. Being a Cortana user on my existing devices (laptops / phone), I knew MSFT had work to do to build up the Cortana skills. But I am impressed at the ease of interaction with the Invoke. Cortana's interaction is fluid and consistently good (which is not always the case with my phone). I think this device will have a harder time selling because Amazon and Google have had products out there for longer and are more broadly known. But the sad part was that when I went to the Best Buy store to pick up the Invoke (which I ordered online), I noticed that only a single Invoke was sitting there on the shelf next to many Alexa & Google devices. A Best Buy sales rep was talking to shoppers and the Invoke was never a part of the conversation. I get why, but I think the Invoke actually would have suited these particular shoppers well.

Excellent sound, with limted fucntions...for now
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked one of these up for the holiday sale. I was not sure what to expect as I have a couple of Amazon devices in the house and have used the Echo's for the past couple of years. The sound from the Echo devices is OK, not bad but not great. However once I started the setup of the Invoke I could tell the sound was much better. Listening to music is very easy to use and sounds amazing. The build quality is very good, and overall it is easy to use. The downside is that the features are still somewhat limited and Cortana is a slower at performing actions. I know these are not the fault of the device but more on the service that needs to improve. Hopefully Microsoft will push updates quickly for performance and feature updates. Plus, later this year I can still talk to Alexa from the same device with the Microsoft/Amazon partnership. For the speaker I have to give it 5 stars, but 3 1/2 for Cortana as she is limited in features right now an needs a performance boost.

Good but need improvement
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's start with the positive points: 1. Can be just used as an awesome bluetooth speaker. Sound quality is un-matched and much much better than google or alexa. 2. Cortana has evolved a lot and it has become chatty. I always love the presentation of Cortana. 3. Able to connect my Hue Lighting and Fitbit. 4. Skype calling to mobile free. Cons: 1. Not many apps compatible. 2. People are not too much aware of Cortana 3. Microsoft don't know how to show what is better than others.

We Love INVOKE and Cortana
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I are blown away. Much more responsive and easy to use than Google Home, sounds better than any of the Amazon products. As the skills and apps grow, this could be the best in the market. I wish MS would do a better job of pushing this product. It's never even mentioned in big-box sales, flyers, etc.

Great sound.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound is great, which is the main reason for me buying the Invoke. It doesn't do as much as Google Home or Alexa at the moment, but Amazon (Alexa) and Micro Soft (Invoke) have made an agreement and they will soon share resources, so it will be able to do the same things Alexa does. When that happens, combined with the sound, it will make Invoke special.

Excellent!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, I'm blown away with the sound quality. It fills my large den and kitchen with more then plenty volume. My favorite wireless speaker and I own a few (Sony, Harman Kardon, and others). I'm listing my Google Home on the Bay today! I even bought another. Cortana is under rated...love the integration with my Windows PC's and my Android phone!

Great alternative to Alexa
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was waiting for a good alternative to Alexa/Google because i don't want everything i say potentially being used to send me advertisements or worse. The HK Invoke is a solid piece of equipment and integrates well with Cortana, Microsoft's offering (whose EULA specifically states that no information is mined or sold). Setup was easy and the device works very well.

Great Sound!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality in this speaker knocks the socks off Alexa and Google Home. I have all of them in the same room. Easy to setup and good at listening from far away. The skills are lacking though.

Amazing sounding Smart Speaker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty impressed with this device. First of all, it's very well built and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Plugged it in and "Cortana" (voice assistant) prompted me to type "set up my invoke" on the Cortana app (any smartphone has this) on the phone or PC. I did it on my windows 10 PC and setup was straight forward and easy. Went ahead and linked up Spotify and after set up asked the speaker ("Hey Cortana, play [insert whatever]") and boy was I blown away by the sound. I've tried Alexa but let me tell you, the quality of the sound coming out of the Invoke handily beats Alexa's speaker quality. The smart aspects are pretty good as well, asked Cortana a myriad of questions and she seems to understand everything I say and answers and sets up appointments/reminders accordingly. Overall my wife and I are very happy with our purchase.
