Excellent 4K HDR Picture Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The H8G series comes in 4 sizes, all sharing the same specifications. The most significant change from the earlier H8 series is the addition of Quantum Dot technology that was only available in their top of the line H9 series. It is still an LED screen, but without getting all technical, Quantum dots simply results in brighter, more saturated, and more accurate colors. Other key features shared by the H8G series are a bezel-less frame, more local dimming zones (up to 90, depending on size), Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos sound, and HDR10+. The interface is Android TV with Google Assistant. The unit reviewed here is the 75" verson. Out of the box, the H8G set to economy mode, and frankly the picture left a lot to be desired. Immediate and significant improvements were gained with a simple switch from economy to Theater Day Mode. While the ambient light where the TV is placed differs will require a bit of playing around, once I started turning off all the dynamic options and interpolation features, I noticed improvements in the picture with every feature turned off/disabled. Turning the brightness down to 70-80 resulted in very good black level and very vibrant and accurate color. Again, your mileage may vary depending on the the particular lighting conditions of the room the H8G is placed in, my results were very accurate colors and very black blacks. I am sure with proper calibration the results would be outstanding. This was my first time using Android TV, and while I'm used to Samsung’s interface, there's a lot to like here. The interface is clean and for the most part self-explanatory, displaying a row of favorite apps at the top and various "channels" below that which displays apps for access from your home screen. There's also a Play Next section, which groups all of your apps together and recommends things to watch based on what you've been watching. There’s a good selection of apps available, including all the big names like Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, and Amazon, and s whole host of varied, lesser known apps are available. Chromecast is built-in, as is Google Assistant. Just press the button on the remote and ask it to find a movie, or even control living room lights and room temperature if you have those smart home devices installed and configured. Whatever you can use your Google Assistant on your Android phone, you can do from your TV. The performance is fine overall, though I did run into noticeable lag now and then. If you have a soundbar connected via eARC, however there is a noticeable lag in response when adjusting the volume. The H8G comes with 4 HDMI ports, but it does not list in the specifications whether they are HDMI 2 or HDMI 2.1. I’m assuming they are NOT 2.1 as while the H8G supports ARC (making the addition of a soundbar with ARC support simple), it does not support eARC, which, using the higher bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 supports lossless Dolby audio. This is not necessarily a “bad” thing, as HDMI 2.1 is generally only featured in most manufacturer’s premium line of televisions costing two to three times the cost of the HG8. Overall the design and build quality of the H8G is pleasing, although it is a bit “thicker” than I would like. I really like the bezel-less screen, which allows edge-to-edge pictures along the top and sized, with a very narrow bezel along the bottom. I don’t like the remote, which while having all the functions, looks bland, dated and cheap. It is contrary to the aesthetic of the television itself and looks out of place. Despite a few drawbacks, overall the H8G is an exceptional TV, offering a gorgeous 4K ULED panel with Dolby Vision and HDR+. Android TV is a clean and functional interface. When you put all of that together with the more than reasonable price, you end up with a very good value. What I liked: Gorgeous picture with vivid color and decent black Andoid TV is a clean, easy to use Operating System Dolby Vision and HDR support Goggle Assistant and Chromecast built-in Not so much: Remote looks dated and no illumination Android TV can be a bit slow Lack of eARC

Gorgeous Dolby Vision/HDR10 Picture
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far my experience with the Hisense H758G has been extremely positive. Up until now, I was a bit hesitant owning a less well known TV brand. Prior to owning this TV, I would never have deviated from owning one of the major name brands. Although this is certainly not an OLED, it's as close as you'll get in this price range. I've spent the last week watching everything from your standard cable broadcasts in 1080i/720p to 4k UHD Blurays with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The 4K UHD source was a well known mid to high end 4k UHD HDR player. The subsequent image fidelity left me somewhat speechless. I will be covering aspects of the TV that I find the most critical and relevant; especially for those who are likely hesitant of purchasing from an "up-and-coming" brand that in the past has been associated with providing budget friendly options over high end displays. With this TV, Hisense is getting closer to bridging that gap. Picture & Audio Quality: Hisense, you have my attention. When setup correctly, this display will output a gorgeous image. As mentioned earlier, I paired this TV with a well known and reputable mid/high end 4K UHD blu-ray player that supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. This TV supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 (Dolby Vision is a form of HDR that typically produces an even better image than standard HDR10). I also paired this with a high quality & high speed HDMI cable. I played back movies such as Harry Potter Prizoner of Azkaban in 4k HDR10, Last Jedi in 4k HDR10, Annihilation 4K in Dolby Vision, and Despicable Me 2 in 4k Dolby Vision. I was extremely impressed by the color reproduction, the deep blacks, lighting uniformity, and the level of image detail. Much like a high end gaming monitor that I own and that I'm very accustomed to, this TV also uses FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) as the technology to produce it's backlight source. Although OLED is still my favorite when it comes to panel backlighting (which also comes at a much higher cost), FALD is a close second to me. In my opinion, FALD achieves very deep blacks and maintains very good black uniformity that is right up there with OLED. I can happily report that this was the case with this TV when playing back my 4k HDR/DV sources. FALD is, of course, not without it's drawbacks. Blooming seems to be an inherent property of using FALD. I am also happy to report that this TV rarely sufferes from any noticeable blooming. When I watched a movie or a broadcast it was not noticeable. The only time I ever noticed any slight blooming was when turning the TV on or OFF. During movie playback, I also did not notice any banding, black crush, or pesky artifacts. Although not perfect, skin tones seemed organic and natural. And that may just require me sto spend more time with calibrating the TV and trying different picture settings. At this price point, Hisense has done an OUTSTANDING job of incorporating Quantom Dot ULED+FALD. The image that this TV produces easily punches twice it's cost. With 700 nits of peak brightness in luminiscence, whenever I was confronted with a ray of sunshine in a movie, an explosion, or violent enraging flames, they appeared incredibly bright and realistic. Again, really impressed with 700 nits especially at this price point. Hisense is really coming out swinging. If you're going to be pairing this TV with a 4K Blu-ray UHD Dolby Vision/HDR10 source using HDMI, which I assume is most, please make sure to enable "Enhanced Format" which is listed under "HDMI 2.0 Format" in the picture settings. I have included a picture. This will need to be enabled in order to properly play back HDR10 and Dolby Vision. This is not on by default! Another thing I noticed is that you'll definitely want to play with the picture settings. Out of the box, the TV comes in an "energy saving mode" for standard broadcasts and an "HDR energy saving mode" when playing back HDR sources. I found the Vivid and Standard pre-sets to be my favorite. Although I do not have a 7.1 or a 5.1 surround system, I was able to pair the TV with a dolby atmos capable soundbar. It was impressive. Beautifully detailed seperation from the mids and highs. Design & Build Quality: Easily five stars. I think most people will agree that overall picture quality is the most important aspect of a TV. In this case, Hisense hit it out the park with build quality and design. Much like the outstanding picture quality this TV produces, the build quality was also very much on par. The TV boasts a very minimalistic design with an almost bezel-less trim. I love that Hisense decided to use a futuristic gunmetal gray. In my opinion it looks so much better than the traditional dull black that several manufacturers are still using. The feet for the TV feel extremely high quality and are solid metal. Once installed on the TV, it's very sturdy. The beautifully angled feet coupled with the minimalistic look of the display creates a symmetrical beauty. I really don't see how else Hisense could have improved the design or build quality here. It's impeccable. Smart Apps/Ecosystem: For me, this section is best summed up with three words; Android Smart TV. I was delighted to see Android OS on this TV and not another Roku platform (although Hisense does make Roku OS driven TVs if that's your thing) or a proprietary OS. Hisense includes an ethernet port on the rear panel if you prefer a wired connection, instead of wireless, to get the most stable streaming experience possible. I simply logged in with my android playstore account and started downloading my apps. The fact that I've been an android user for some time and utilize premium services such as Youtube Premium and Amazon Prime Video was the icing on the cake. Since it's on the Android platform, there is no clunkiness or slowness. The menus are incredibly snappy and fluid. I love that I have all my multimedia apps at my fingertips and can enjoy the paid apps and premium services used on my other mobile devices directly on this gorgeous TV! The remote seems pretty intuitive for interacting with your apps. You get a netflix, youtube, amazon prime video , and google play button. I love the layout and feel of the remote. It's basic, simple, and doesn't feel cluttered. It's also equipped with a voice sensor to handle all your voice commands. I tested launching my apps and starting services with no issues. My only minor gripe is that the remote is not backlit. Final Thoughts: If you're looking for a 75 inch 4K Quantom Dot TV with Dolby Vision/Atmos in this price range, I really can't find another TV that touches it; especially considering all the modern tech you're getting. It's also not just a bunch of tech that Hisense included to tick off checkboxes on a spec sheet for the sake of marketing, but tech that significantly affects the signal output that you're getting. After spending a lot of time with the 75H8G, I am certainly a believer. While most of my time was spent testing 4k sources HDR sources, 1080i broadcasts from my set-top box looked good. (Note: Please make sure that if you're connecting a set-top box to this TV that you go into the cable box settings and ensure that the output is set to 1080i. I recently signed up for cable TV service and the output of the STB was set to 720p as default!). Also don't forget to change the power mode settings that this TV comes with by default. Enable "enhanced format" in the HDMI picture settings in order to watch Dolby Vision and HDR10 capable titles. The only thing left to see is how the TV will hold up over time. If it does, I have no doubts that Hisense is going to become a very strong player in the industry.

A lot of TV and Functionality for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nicely sized 75” 4K ULED TV. The picture quality compared to more widely known brands is completely on par in terms of clarity. A pleasant surprise was how useful the adaptive video and sound were in changing to what you are watching. The sound and video settings change based on the type of programing you are watching such as sports versus movies. One of the biggest surprise I have seen in these thin TVs is the sound quality. The amount of bass this TV produces is very surprising and at times makes me wonder if the sound system was on or not. Using Android TV build into this TV is a dream compared to using Roku or FireTV. With access to the Google Play Store, the TV can become a giant Android phone. The ability to use IP Camera apps allows me to quickly switch apps and view my security cameras. The picture quality while using a XBOX One X is amazing and smooth. Even the underpowered Nintendo Switch looks and feels amazing. The Google Assistant is integrated seamlessly and allows the user to use their voice to navigate and find content for the TV. I do hope that replacement remotes will be available in the future because it seems like the remote is very important in the usage of the TV. I would highly encourage anyone who buys this TV to pick up a Google Home device to allow you to expand your Google Assistant usage without being tied to the remote. With Google Chromecast built in, casting videos from Youtube on your phone to the TV is simple and natural. Having an internet connection for this TV to work is essential and with the amount of streaming this TV is capable off, running a wired connection is best, however I have not seen any problems with the Wifi built into the TV. I was not too wild on having this TV be on the included stands because at this large size, the TV has a slight wiggle when some wind is blown on it. I solved this by immediately mounting this TV onto the wall. Mounting this TV on the wall is definitely a 2-3 person job because the VESA mounts are on the bottom half of the TV so it is top heavy when placing on a wall mount. At this price point, this TV is the perfect value for functionality how much TV you get. For the average home viewer, it would be hard to find another TV that is a better value.

Nice picture, good sound, Google Assistant
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first time trying a Hisense television. I didn’t know what to expect but the performance, while not without some hiccups, is better than expected. Setup was easy and I was prompted to install an update afterward. The update only took a few minutes to download and install. I’m a little paranoid about security, so I disabled ACR, wake on LAN and wake on wifi. During setup, a screen advised that the TV will collect and use my data, however, the URL given to read the full privacy policy landed on a 404 error page. I had to accept a privacy policy, sight unseen, before being able to use the set. That was part of the reason why I disabled most of the potential snooping features. After completing the setup, I had a little trouble getting the TV to recognize my cable box. It kept displaying “no signal” before I eventually discovered I had to set the HDMI 2.0 input to enhanced. Doing so also defaulted my picture settings to Dolby Vision. I was initially underwhelmed by the picture quality. Video was too bright, washed out and grainy. Color reproduction was also bad and some colors, like bright red, looked fluorescent. After a few days of break-in and a lot of fiddling with the picture controls, picture quality greatly improved. It still isn’t perfect and is a little warmer than I typically prefer but looks very good. Of all colors, black is particularly impressive. It’s deep, uniform and free of clouding and light bleed. It’s one of the best looking blacks I’ve seen aside from plasma or OLED. Some brighter colors still look a bit fluorescent in certain content, mainly cartoons or guide menus. Motion blur is minimal with no major noticeable blur during fast action. I watched a few football and basketball game replays and was satisfied with the image quality during faster plays. I’ll likely have to wait a while to see how it handles live sports broadcasts. Some of the video features can behave a little flaky. For example, I had to disable active contrast after it kept flickering nonstop on certain darker screens. It behaved as if confused whether to switch between darker or lighter. The LCD panel generates considerable heat and easily raises the room temperature of our large enclosed room by a couple degrees (F). Sound from the built-in speakers is about what you expect from your average LED TV speakers these days. The set does sound very good through my sound bar with Dolby Digital Plus active on the set. It sounds louder and generally better overall through the same bar that was used by the 55-inch set this replaced. If the built-in speakers are the only option, the set has some additional sound enhancing features, including an equalizer. The features are disabled if external speakers are used. The smart features are powered by the Android operating system. There are several preinstalled apps like Netflix, YouTube, Pandora and Google Play games, to name a few. The set can connect to the Google Play store where additional apps can be acquired and installed. The set can also connect to Google Home and was automatically detected over the network by our Google Home device. We added it as a new device through the smartphone app which enabled us to control the set through both the app or voice control. The Bluetooth-enabled TV remote has a built-in mic and Google Home Assistant. As advanced as the remote is, it’s glaringly missing an exit button for exiting menus. I either have to keep hitting the back button or click home and then TV. It’s a relatively minor yet frustrating issue at times. This set is a pain to wall mount. The VESA holes are positioned inside four deep cavities which aren’t compatible out the box with my Janus mount. The user’s guide says a wall mount is required but not included. The language is a little confusing because it’s hard to tell if it is referring to the actual wall mount or an adapter to make the set compatible with a wall mount. My mount can handle sets up to 90-inches, so it’s capable of mounting sets this size. I couldn’t find the correct screws among two VESA screw packs, so I eventually settled for using the stands instead of wall mounting.

Exceptional Picture, Easy to Setup and Use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hisense 75 H8G is a Quantum Dot Android TV with full array backlighting and Dolbly Vision HDR and HDR 10. It far exceeds all expectations for a tv in this price range. The tv is easy to unpack and install the legs or hang on the wall. It is very attractive with a bezel-less design. The outer edges are a dark matte grey which has a premium look. The tv is a little thick at the bottom at 3.3", however that is where the two 15 watt speakers are located. They produce a crisp clear sound which was much better than expected. I did end up connecting a soundbar as the tv is located in a very large room. When you turn the tv on it will prompt you to setup which is extremely fast and easy and can be done with your Android phone. It comes preset to Eco Mode which does not maximize picture quality. I changed it to Theater Day mode which gives very accurate color and a pleasing picture across most sources. The backlight is preset at 100. Despite the fact that the tv is located in a very bright room with floor to ceiling windows, I was able to turn that down to 80 when watching HD tv from my cable box. However, from most other sources, such as Netflix, YouTube, Prime, etc., I left it at 100. Android TV and Chromecast are built in. This effectively makes the tv another smart device in your Google Home app. You can turn the tv on and off using any Google speaker and through the included voice remote you can perform any Google search and it will appear on the tv screen. Android Tv has the Google Play Store so you have access to many apps and the ability to add them to you home screen. response to voice commands is very quick. Chromecast also all allows you to cast any app or video directly to the tv. The remote is comfortable in your hand and very intuitive. You can also connect a bluetooth keyboard and add a browser to the tv. Just keep in mind that there is only 4gb of memory, so if you start adding a lot of apps make sure to delete the apps you no longer use. The picture is bright and color accurate in HD sources, such as the cable box, but it is truly spectacular with a native 4k source such as Netflix, Prime, YouTube, etc. The screen has excellent light uniformity with no banding. Blacks are truly black and there is no noticeable light bleeding or blooming.. Off angle viewing is also excellent. Overall, I am extremely happy with this tv and would highly recommend it.

Theater at home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shipment box included: 75H8G TV Stand + screws Voice remote 125v power plug 2 AA batteries Manuals Unboxing: Especially because of the size I had help with handling the HiSense 75H8G tv. Not having any assistance would of greatly increase the likelihood of me damaging my new tv. Experience and setup: I followed the manual’s instructions to get the information I needed to properly install the HiSense, so the setup was easy. I had the tv laying on the couch with the screen facing the soft cushions to install the legs/stands. No HDMI cables are included but FYI the HiSense have 4 HDMI ports. When I powered the HiSense 75H8G for the first time it walked me through the main steps of the setup such as network, Google and a few extras. Fun stuff: Must I say more after it is 75 inches of screen? This TV is picture perfect especially because I have the right setup, with a sound bar and a tv stand that holds it up like the trophy it is. I can download apps from the Google Play store because the HiSense 75H8G is powered by Android. My sound bar supports Dolby Atmos so I get the theatre sound because the H8G has it built in. This is the Quantum Series I get to experience more pixels in Dolby Vision HDR quality. This tv is a true smart tv because it uses artificial intelligence to adjust the picture and sound all while I’m watching. I can see more upgrades coming out for the H8G because of the OTA update capabilities and the chipset it has that is powerful enough to handle future upgrades. With streaming being so popular I can have all my apps downloaded and have access to them right from my main screen layout or I can use simple voice commands because the tv have the Google Assistant built in. I think this tv is fully loaded for the price compared to many other 4K ULED tv manufacturers. After a week of viewing I know many people will love it like I do. My favorites: -Size and the picture quality. I’m going to show off this tv proudly because it is definitely worthy. -Google Assistant feature. I’m a big user of the Google Home and this is a plus. -Small bezel. This is ultra thin and I feel like I get more screen. My dislikes: I’m not a big fan of the remote. Feels like as soon as I drop it, I’m going to need a replacement. The legs of the tv is too tall for my setup. I would of prefer for it to make the tv closer to the tv stand. Final thought: I think this is a bargain tv for the price and what it has to offer. I do wish it holds up with no issues with the quality but I can now say after a week I’m very happy with my new HiSense 75H8G Quantum Series tv. This is my personal review of it but please comment with any questions.

H8G Quantum Series - An outstanding 4K TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hisense H8G Quantum Series 4K ULED with AndroidTV is an impressive TV at an even more impressive price. Pros: * Quick and easy setup - The TV was packaged nicely and well protected. The provided legs are thin, sturdy, and sleek looking; however, I chose to mount it to the wall. With the TV being so new I was worried I might have a hard time finding a compatible mount as many of the companies do not have this TV listed on the compatibility checker. I ended up purchasing a Sanus premium wall mount from Best Buy based on the VESA size. Of note, you must use offsets since the back of the TV has a slight curve. The TV provides four mounting offsets but I did not use them as the mount I purchased did not have the right size M6 screws for them. I ended up using the mounts offsets instead. The TV is very thin and relatively light but I would recommend having a friend or family member help you lift it due to the sheer size. Once attached to the wall I powered it up and went through the setup. I was able to connect it to my WIFI without any issue and downloaded a firmware update. I really like the thin bezel and modern look. * AndroidTV - A cool feature added to the TV giving you the option to download apps (1000's in the app store) without the need to buy a separate streaming device (Roku, Apple TV, etc). I have not had any issues with it lagging; however, I did need to force close Netflix one time when it got stuck on the search page. I used the provided Google Assistant button on the remote to ask how and it pulled up the instructions immediately. You can also use the voice control to open apps, search for shows, change inputs, etc. * Picture - By default the TV ships in Eco Mode. The picture in this mode is very underwhelming; however, it comes with several preset options which are great if you are a novice and don't want to tinker with manual settings. These presents can take the TV from a bland budget appearing picture to a rich and deep picture. It has a peak brightness of 700 nits which is great and I found to be especially helpful since the TV is located in a room that can get very bright during the day. Its full array local dimming algorithm is refined allowing for minimal blooming with light moving objects on a dark/black background. If you want to see this in action, download and play a video of a white box moving across a black screen. Do this on several different TV's and you will see the difference. Lastly, the Dolby Vision HDR picture and Dolby Atmos audio is great technology and when supported really gives the home theater experience. * Game Mode - I hooked up my Nintendo Switch and tried out several games including Mario Cart, Zelda, and Super Smash Bros. There was no noticeable lag and it worked great. While I do most of my gaming on a dedicated gaming rig/gaming monitor, I appreciate the smooth refresh rate and low input lag. The nailed it. Overall, this TV is an amazing product and offers the user a premium experience at an outstanding price. Pictures cannot do this TV justice. Go see it in person!

Size Matters!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UNBOXING: Definitely 2 people are needed. You will need to open the top and remove any Styrofoam and items that may be on top. Next you will remove 4 clips (2 on each side toward the bottom of the box). Simply slide the box up over the TV…making sure you have plenty of head room to get the box all the way off. STAND or MOUNTING: All you have to do is screw the legs onto the TV. If your TV stand is not long enough to have the legs near the edges, there is a second spot to mount the legs which is closer toward the middle. SETUP: Read the instruction booklet, then turn on the TV and carefully follow the instructions on the screen. If you forget something or need to skip an instruction, you can simply go to the Settings Menu and find whatever you need. Setting up the soundbar was a matter of just plugging it in to the HDMI jack. HDMI-1 is the ARC plug, if you have a soundbar requiring that. CLARITY/COLOR: 4K is amazing on this TV for clarity. Colors are bright and vibrant. I always adjust color by skin tones on live shows, such as the news, to get real true color. I didn’t need to change a thing. It is perfect with no adjusting. SIZE: You need to take into consideration that 75” is a lot more than you may realize for a TV. Depending on how close you are, you almost feel like you are right there in the picture, which for some may be too close. Let me just say that I have a 24’ x 40’ great room and you can easily watch TV from anywhere in the room which is REALLY nice. However, the living room part of the great room is approximately 16’ x 16’ and about 14’ distance to the TV. I feel this is a perfect distance. REMOTE: The remote pretty much is typical. It has a few shortcut buttons for things like Netflix, YouTube, etc. APPS: The great thing about having an Android TV is that you can easily go to the Google Play Store and download all the apps you need. GOOGLE ASSISTANT/ALEXA: Simple setup by just following the directions in the beginning of setup. There is a Google Assist button on the remote. You just need to push the Google Assist logo button (no need to hold it in) and talk toward the remote. With Alexa you don’t get to do quite as much as with Google. I have them both and really, really like using the Google Assist better. If you have other Smart TVs, chose the name for this TV wisely. I have another in the bedroom and if I just say “turn on TV” or “turn off TV” they both will turn on or off. There is no need to say “Okay Google”, pushing the button takes its place. RECOMMENDATION: If you have the room for this 75” TV, this is definitely for you. I don’t know why I waited this long to get one, especially with all the bells and whistles this one has!

No excuses. This is really my only true negative. The other negatives below are just downsides but I'm glad hisense spent their money on providing an awesome panel and cut where they did. -Built in Android tv is slow and has frozen a few times. Doesn't matter, because all built in tv interfaces suck. Get a nvidia shield or that new google chromecast with Android tv or fire stick/roku etc. -Tin tiny built in storage. Don't install more than a few apps. Leave some space for the cache to prevent further slowdowns. -Remote is very dated, large, typical tv remote plastic, and doesn't have backlit buttons. Pro's: -Awesome auto Backlight -Awesome auto contrast -Awesome auto picture mode -Awesome local dimming zones -Awesome Panel -Awesome HDR -Good build quality. Doesn't feel or look cheap. -Very sturdy -Good port selection and location My tuned settings for gaming/movies/tv/computer: Local dimming: high Contrast: 50 Brightness: 50 Color: 50 Tint: 50 Sharpness: 0 Hdmi 2.0 format: enhanced format Color temp: low Motion enhancement: off (always turn off) Motion clearness: off Noise reduction: off Digital noise reduction: off Active contrast: high Color space: auto Gamma: 2.2 Apply picture settings: All source Sound mode: auto mode Audio output: ARC dolby atmos: on Summary: I used other user reviewers calibration settings and professional reviews elsewhere online to calibrate this tv then adjusted slightly for my personal taste. I kept backlight, contrast, picture mode and dimming in auto because this tv actually does a decent job at it. I was surprised. I turned off all motion enhancements and noise reduction. Not needed, increases lag and slows the tv down. The processor in this tv should have been faster but this is a cheaper tv so this isn't a big deal. It does a good job at upscaling and local dimming though which I think is more important. Speaking of local dimming, yes there is a noticeable glow around bright objects on black backgrounds, but you forget about it when watching content. It is not distracting. It does not lag noticeably on fast content. It has enough local dimming zones to be quite useable. Blacks are as inky black as a non oled tv can get. I'm sure if you take a more expensive non-oled tv with a better panel and stick it side by side to this, this will fall short, but no one watches media like that in daily use. If you want infinite contrast and true black, go OLED and don't expect that with this tv but this tv does produce awesome inky dark blacks with auto local dimming on high. HDR is phenomenal. This tv can get very bright. Colors also explode in vibrancy while not being oversaturated. This is a budget tv for the same visual performance as found in higher cost TV's.

Went black on me and died
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tv went black within Best Buy warranty. So thankful it happened early, after digging around online, this is a common problem. Otherwise liked the TV, but having it go black and not turn on for minutes initially, to hours now is terrifying. No thanks, I’ll upgrade to an LG or Samsung. Cheaper long term

Great Quality 4K HDR TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hisense 75H8G is a great TV for the money. This is a ULED Smart TV using Quantum Dot Technology that produces over a billion colors. It features Full Array Local Dimming up to 90 zones to offer great contrast and color accuracy. It also features Motion Rate 240 which offers smooth motion and reduces lag. A nice feature is Dolby Vision Atmos that offers a fairly nice sound quality; however, if you have a sound system, I recommend using that. If not, then the TV sounds is much better than I expected. Set up out of the box was very easy and did not take long at all. Once you turn the TV on, you are prompted through the initial set up which is very intuitive. I do have a complaint that I was not able to connect to my Android phone during the set up. I still have not been able to figure it out and decided to give up on it for now. The build quality of this TV is very nice. It has extremely thin bezels that are a nice grey/silver color that outline the TV very well and put a great focus on the screen itself. It is a little thicker on the bottom half (3.3 inches) but that is also to house the nice sounding speakers as well. It does not detract from the TV quality or design at all. The inputs are nicely located on the left side and are easily accessed. There is also another set of inputs on the back of the unit. The legs are a solid construction, extremely sturdy, and easy to attach. There are two positions you can mount the legs; a wide mount and a narrow mount. The narrow mount does seem to have a bit more wobble than the wide. My only complaint about the legs are how much they add to the footprint of the TV. They just barely fit on my TV stand. If you have a way to secure the TV to a stand, I would recommend (especially if you have younger children). Picture quality is fantastic. Out of the box, it comes set to an economy mode which is definitely easy enough to change to improve picture quality. There are preset modes to choose from depending on what you will be doing with your TV such as movie or game modes. It has a 700 nit peak brightness which helps to make the overall quality really nice in differently lit rooms. 4K, Dolby Vision HDR, and HDR10 combine with Quantum Dot Technology bring you an exceptional picture quality that is found on TV’s that carry a much higher price tag. Colors pop, Blacks are inky, and the Hi-View chipset brings brights to a great realistic quality. The upscaling qualities are also really nice for non 4K HDR material. The Android platform is actually really nice and offers you lots of apps through the app store. It is also really cool that you are able to pair this with a Google Home device and use voice control with the TV. I think I will still use the remote as that is simply easier than remembering voice commands. I was also really happy to note that the Android platform was not as clunky to work through as it was in previous versions. Overall, I am extremely happy with this TV especially at the price point and would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget friendly 4K HDR TV.

75" on a Budget
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want to spend more for the high end TV's out there that will what the Jones's will do. But, from all of the research that I have done there is no real reason to go high end if you aren't Pairing with all the high end options that are out there. Also most of the programs that you are watching aren't even ready for the TV's that are being made at this point.... But, you be you. Great picture, easy set up, fantastic colors, blacks that are detailed, and easy android system. Hoping to maybe get a calibration at some point to see what we might be missing. But, at this point can't be happier.

Even my wife who is always like I can't tell the difference was blown away!!! Is the an OLED TV absolutely not but for 1,299 and free delivery I would put it against some TV's that retail for 700 dollars more! Android TV is awesome and the setup was super easy. If you can spare the 1400 after tax do it you will not regret it!
