TERRIBLE! Defective and almost KILLED ME!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying the management at the Culver City, CA location are great! They were sympathetic to my situation and allowed me to make an exchange for another scooter. Now to this TERRIBLE scooter. I was happy with this scooter for the first week. Commuting 8 miles/day to work was smooth at first. THEN the problems started. It began to disengage the cruise control randomly. Then the area where the scooter folds and locks started to wobble when I rode it. I noticed ALL the bolts and screws were loose where the folding part is. Keep in mind that this scooter comes almost fully assembled except for the handle bars. So I tightened them all and it fixed the problem... temporarily! A week later it was wobbly again and all the bolts were loose, AGAIN! Then the front wheel started to go out of alignment and I would have to turn it to line it back up with the handlebars. Then, after using it for a month, repairing 2 flat tires, and daily maintenance, I was riding it home when I crossed an intersection and the part where it folds and locks completely EXPLODED! The metal piece that locks the scooter neck in place flew off and, while in cruise control, the neck was down and the scooter was out of control. LUCKILY, when it exploded the street had a slight incline so it helped me stop. In the process I ruined my shoe stopping it and had to push the scooter the rest of the way home. If there was a car on the opposite side of the street I would most likely be DEAD! To make matters worse, I emailed Hover-1 to resolve the matter and a week later they responded stating, "We do not cover physical damage." Your product nearly kills me and you don't have the common decency to replace or refund me? They won't even answer their phones. DO NOT BUY THIS SCOOTER if you value your life! It is cheaply made and a very poor design. Luckily, I'm still alive, so I can warn others not to purchase this death trap!

Great Scooter.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This scooter will not disappoint. Great speed and distance. I have no problem going up a long steep hill. I’m a female, 5’10”, 160 and feel very comfortable riding. Handle bars feel sturdy. Great tires and breaking system. Cruise control is an awesome feature. It does have front light and rear tail light which are enough for someone to see you but not bright enough to really see at night. I definitely recommend. I have rented several different ones in Atlant and this supersedes them all.

TERRIBLE SCOOTER! Almost killed me!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that the management at my local Best Buy was great, they get 5 stars. I brought it back to Best Buy and the manager was sympathetic to my situation and allowed me to exchange it for a different brand of scooter. DO NOT BUY THIS SCOOTER if you value your life! I exchanged it for the GOTRAX G4. It’s been great so far.

Great power, range, and features (Cruise control)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This new Hover-1 electric scooter model, the Blackhawk, is probably their best offering yet. It's not perfect, but is well worth the investment. Pros: - Multiple operation modes from beginner, to intermediate, to sport mode where you can let loose on the scooter's full capabilities. - Enough power to climb medium grade hills. Many electric devices can't even handle slight inclines. I was able to go up fairly steep gradients, at a slower speed, without issue. - Cruise Control! This will be your best friend on long rides, as holding down the accelerator can be straining over long distances. - Battery life seems great. I've been riding almost daily for over a week and have half power left from a full charge. The advertised range of 28 miles seems totally realistic. The advertised top speed of 18MPH is also easily reachable if not going uphill. I'm 185 pounds, but this model is rated to handle a load of 220 pounds. - Headlight and taillight for riding at dark! Cons: - Instructions were lacking. You can do basic set-up and get riding without issues. But there are sub-menus to access in order to do things like switch from Kph to Mph for the speedometer but no walk-through of how to do it is provided. It took trial and error. - The kickstand can be difficult to find blindly with your foot in a dark environment. But this can also be a plus as it won't get caught on things accidentally. - Online support is lacking. I had a couple basic questions to ask about the scooter but couldn't find the info I needed in the paperwork or on the website. This could be because the Blackhawk is a new model just getting released. - The biggest issue I had was a squealing sound coming from the rear tire. I was able to find some YouTube videos on my own and get the squeak to go away after improving the alignment of the caliper (pictured). I wasn't put off by this though, as you should be able to do basic/simple maintenance on bikes/scooters if you are going to own one. Cons aside, this scooter is just a blast. The cost is reasonable for what you are getting as the scooter is solid, does what is says it will do, and really has the power you need for a fun day in the sun.

Fun, fast and long range all in one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want an electric scooter that can get you from point A to B and have fun while doing it, this is the one! On flat ground this thing is fast, Hover-1 shows 18 mph top speed. If the speedometer is correct, I’ve had it up to 27 mph on flat ground and I’m right @ the 220lbs weight limit. The scooter has three different power settings. Beginner, normal and sport, you definitely want to get use to it before using sport. With a range of up to 28 miles you can commute without range anxiety. The battery level is displayed on the bottom of the screen with 5 bars. My personal experience over two days of riding (I would estimate 8 miles) on flat and hilly surfaces the scooter still showed 3 bars. When riding at night the scooter has a nice (relatively) bright headlight and a brake light. The scooter weighs in @ 33 lbs and folds up for transporting. One of the best features is the removable battery. This is a huge feature if you live in an apartment or high rise. You can leave your scooter in your vehicle and just bring the battery in to charge. The Blackhawk gives you long range green mobility and fun when you want to let your hair down!

Impressive Electric Scooter
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hover-1 Blackhawk Scooter has been a blast to use. It has amazing battery life and I've only needed to charge it once since I've had it! (About a week and a half with daily use). There are 3 modes, a beginner, intermediate and advanced. D is motorized but at a slower speed and recommended for most who just want a relaxing joy ride. Then there is S, sport mode, and here's where the real fun begins. It has a higher speed and takes a bit getting used to but is the main mode I use. I mainly ride the Hover-1 to close the gap between my car and my job. (I usually have to park far away). So this has made life so much easier. Its my first electric scooter and I'm beyond impressed. The headlight is a little dimmer than I'd like but it gets the job done at night and the break light shows drivers around me where i'm at. The throttle is located right on the handle bar so holding it down for a few seconds will automatically put the scooter in cruise and will go on its own! This makes longer rides a joy and very convenient. Overall it's a smooth and quiet scooter and very easy to handle. One last thing I'd like to mention is that the weight limit listed is 220 lbs and I weigh about 214 but was still able to reach a speed of 19 mph on a downhill slope which is more than fast enough! My only gripes are the kickstand can be hard to kick out and when in cruise mode just tapping the break can cause a slight jerk motion. That said I highly recommend this product and I absolutely love it!

Fun Ride. Great Quality.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never owned or ridden an electric scooter, but have always been curious about them. With that said, I was anxiously awaiting to get the Hover-1 Blackhawk in my hands to try out. Wow. I was not expecting so much fun. BUILD QUALITY Bigger, bulkier, and heavier than I expected. Not a bad thing. To me, it just means that it's sturdy. Materials seem durable and high-quality. RIDE QUALITY Smoother than I expected. You have to kick to start and it picks up speed almost instantly. All you have to do is hold down the throttle to cruise and press it once for manual speed. There are three drive modes: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. From what I can tell, it basically helps monitor how fast the scooter can go. If you are just starting out on this, like me, beginner mode is what you should leave it on. While the scooter is rated at 18 MPH, I've noticed it reaching 19. Perhaps it has something to do with smooth surface and perhaps there was a slight decline in the elevation that I did not notice. Either way, the speed is adequate. AESTHETICS Overall, this scooter looks great. I love the matte black look. While the baby blue is not my favorite color, it's not too much and it provides a nice little pop of color. There are both a headlight and taillight on the scooter. The taillight is perfect, but the headlight doesn't do much. Better than nothing I suppose. The digital display on the handle bar is large and bright. You can easily see the speed, drive mode, and battery level. The user manual indicates that the display can show KMPH and MPH, but I cannot figure out how to change to MPH. Not really a big deal, but I would love to change it. OVERALL I'm thoroughly impressed with the Hoover-1 Blackhawk electric scooter. From build quality to ride quality, it is a great scooter for getting around the neighborhood or riding just for fun.

Fun and fast full-size kick scooter
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very capable scooter with some interesting features: - 10" air-inflated wheels - The 40-Cell Li-Ion battery is removable and held on the stem. - Brushless motor is on the front-wheel, rated 350 Watts. - Disc brakes on the rear wheel, and can also brake kicking the rear wheel. - Aluminum construction. Weights about 33 Lb. The scooter comes ready to use, only requiring to screw the handlebars by hand and attach the brake handle with a simple hex wrench (included). It has a simple display showing the speed an charge remaining. The only controls are the electronic accelerator and the brake. On the accelerator there is a power button and a mode control, which is a speed limiter: Training: 6 mph, kids: 10 mph and full speed up to 16 mph. It comes with its own charger which is a proprietary switching power supply with a barrel connector. Holding the speed button also turns the lights on or off: One headlight and rear lights on the rear wheel cover, which also blinks when braking. There is no phone app on this scooter. Just turn on and go. No phone tracking, nothing else to set up. It's very simple to use. Our teen kids picked it up right away. Learning to use takes a couple of minutes. To start it, turn it on, kick on the base (So it knows you're actively using it), roll it about 2 mph and start accelerating (this so it doesn't take off by mistakenly pressing the accelerator). It had a good amount of torque, and goes up to 16 mph. It does struggle with hills, but it worked on its own on relatively steep roads around the neighborhood. It's fairly simple to fold: One clip protects a lever on the bottom of the mast. It then clips to the rear wheel. To unfold it, press the rear wheel, lift the mast and the lever at the hinge. There is a clip so it doesn't unlock with vibration. The driving range for this would be about 25 miles (ideally) on a single charge. I was not able to test it completely, as my range anxiety made me charge it when the charge indicator shown a bit over half capacity, and I must've driven well over 10 miles. IPX4 rated which means it can resist splashes (poodles, etc.). It carrier an UL safety label for US/CA, which is reassuring. This is a branded version of the Kixin X8 Scooter. Caveats: The warranty on this is only 3 months, which is disappointing for an expensive model. Since this is a full-size scooter with a larger battery pack, it's somewhat heavy and kind of bulky to carry, but there is no secure way to lock this on the street. Not much we can do but having a way to lock it with a chain would've been useful. Overall, I think the speed and power are adequate. More power is always nice but this works surprisingly well. I like that the battery is removable and on the front stem instead of the bottom, which makes it much more protected, particularly over poodles of water. The battery can be charged in or outside the scooter. The disc brake is smooth. Quick stops that are not sudden. While it doesn't have a suspension, the air tires make up for it, keeping it relatively light. It's a lot of fun. My kids like it, and even got compliments from neighbors on the fun factor. Don't be discouraged by the lack of app connectivity. To me it's a plus. It works without a fuss. Turn it on and it goes.

Smooth
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Faster than advertised, I'm 180 lb that actually goes 21 mph on flat surface. Good battery life cheap components though. I thought it would be more powerful for a 350w.. at least torque wise those bird scooters would kick its butt off the line . I broke the throttle hit a pothole doing full speed 21, didn't wipe out thankfully the throttle worked it just lost the spring so you had to manually move it. All in all it's an all right scooter.

Good power, poor throttle design
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will be returning this item. I had this scooter and kept all the boxes because I was skeptical based on reviews. For me this scooter was amazing for my 5 mile round trip everyday. Awesome power up the hills (I weigh a total of 240 with clothes and a school bag thats full). However, the throttle on day 1 made a weird click and it had a lot of play in it. Then a few days in the whole throttle came apart mid ride. I gathered up the pieces and put it in the boxes that I saved. I would not recommend this product until they improve their materials for the design.

Fun fun fun!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having the Blackhawk Scooter for more than a month now, got it on a Deal of the Day, so far so good! It is fun to ride, and good for short commuting. I haven't got a chance to test its range yet, but the Max Speed is easy to reach. There is once the batteries were fully charged, and riding on a flat road, it had reached 20 mph! When I first got the scooter, it occasionally had some noise at the break portion of the rear wheel, but now it's gone, and is quiet as it could be. Would I buy another one, YES!

Fast and Fun!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the Hover-1 Blackhawk delivers on speed, range, ease of use, and space saving storage making it one of the best scooters on the market. I am going to purchase one for my fiance so we can cruise together. Putting the scooter together out of the box took about 5 minutes once all parts were taken out. Hover does recommend charging for 7 hours before first use but once it was put together I tested it out to see if it worked. The battery indicator was at full so I powered it on and took off. There are 3 speed modes. The first and slowest mode let me go as fast as 6 MPH, medium mode let me get to 12 and fastest mode let me get to top speed of 18mph (I am 155lbs). Keep in mind that my brother was only able to get to 15mph because he is over 200 pounds. I tested the scooter at the quickest speed on a 5k route that I take for running which includes 2 long freeway bridge overpasses which contain 6-7 degree slopes and some dirt paths along the way. I was able to complete the journey in 17 minutes and 23 seconds on a very windy day! I did lose one bar of battery on this trip but I felt confident that I could travel a longer distance with this scooter if I needed to. It handled well on the dirt and I tested it on the grass. The foot brake is good for slowing down momentarily and taking corners quickly while the handle brake will allow you to reach full stop quickly. The acceleration after the first initial physical push or kick with your foot is jolting and you take off really quicky! The neat part is that you do have to physically kick first with your feet and travel at a certain speed before the accelerator takes over and the throttle works which is a good safety feature. Another great feature is the light on the front. It is extremely bright and illuminates your path a good distance in front of you. I was also able to ride over small lips from the street onto the driveway and through grassy areas although not meant for it. The scooter has a display to show your speed which is big and bright enough even on a very sunny day. When you reach certain speeds the scooter beeps which is an alert that lets you know that if you let go of the throttle you will cruise at that speed. The brake light on the back also comes on when braking or when you turn on the front lights when dark to alert pedestrians or drivers behind you. A few of issues with this scooter: (1) you need an allen wrench to fold up and down which I literally lost the first day. Luckily I had spares. (2) The scooter is also not very portable if you want to carry it around. It is heavy and will need to be locked up outside if you want to commute to school or go shopping for groceries. I use this scooter for picking up carry out at nearby restaurants less than 1.5 miles away and just to cruise and have fun with. (3) The speed indicator is in KMPH and I could not figure out how to change to MPH. That being said, I would definitely recommend to anyone planning on getting an electric scooter as the pros overweigh the cons by a long shot. You can't go wrong with this one!
