Couldn't pull a 5-degree slope
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The box and included information actually gave the max speed as 9 mph and max range as 8 mi, which is higher than the online info states. The larger tires allow the unit to roll across rough surfaces easier than smaller tires can. As an older adult, I found it only took a few minutes to get comfortable riding the scooter. It was quite fun--as long as you were on a level surface. There was a huge problem on slopes, however. The specs on this scooter given at various websites (Hover-1 showed this model before I made the purchase, but, curiously, it does not seem to show up now--it must be discontinued) states a max incline of 15 or 20 degrees. However, it could not make it up an incline of only 4-5 degrees with either me (200lbs) or my wife (150lbs); and, although I didn't measure it, I don't think the max speed ever approached 7mph. I had hoped the large tires and 500W-total-power motors would allow me to use it off of paved surfaces, but it could not move me on my lawn. I noticed when I took the unit out of the box that the gap along the center pivot point was larger at the bottom than at the top. That worsened when a rider was aboard, even to the point that there was a very noticeable tilt to the tires, where the tire tops tilted inward and the bottoms tilted outwards (see photos). Maybe the unit I received was defective or a previous return. I was dissatisfied with it and returned it. On the plus side, the return process at my local Best Buy store was very easy and quick.

Could be great, but just bad
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Three problems: - poor structural design: thin metal base/axle support resulting in structural failure in less than three months use by 90 lb kid. The wheel axle is no longer supported making the product unusable/not fixable. - electrical glitches during use: product stops during use - very poor customer service: 1) no technical support 2) blamed the customer for problem without considering the details of the problem

Awesome board with lots of power to get you places
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My kiddo just loves this hover-1 hover board. It gets her to her friends house in the neighborhood and back. she just rides this thing everywhere, even in the house. She loves the LEDs that light up and her favorite feature is the bluetooth connectivity to listen to her music. The 10 inch wheels make it easy to ride through grass and the yard. It can go up to 6 or 7 miles on a full charge. That’s without the LEDs and bluetooth on. less battery power once you start messing with those features but that’s understandable. still an awesome hover board. Kid just loves it.

A TON of fun.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first, I had zero interest in trying one of these. But once I did I was disappointed in myself that I didn’t try it sooner. As these are a TON of fun. They take a bit of practice to get used to but once you do it is smooth sailing. The street that my house is in front of isn’t exactly straight and has a lot of bumps, but this thing handled it extremely well with a very smooth ride. Even if I would go flying from time to time if I accidently hit one going too fast. I mostly used this to go get the mail each day (as it is down the street from me). If I owned a large plot of land or a mansion I think having one of these just to navigate those lands or your house would also be a ton of fun. Even though I’m sure the manufacture wouldn’t recommend that for safety reasons. The max speed I got it to at 205 lbs. was 6 mph. And the battery lasted for quite some time. Over all I think it is a solid device. But it’s not perfect which is why I didn’t give it five stars. PROS: - 10” wheels are great. Allowing you to use it in more places without issues while also providing a smooth ride. - Max weight of 265 lbs. I’m 205 lbs. and had no issues. - There are LED lights on the front of the device for flare. You can adjust the color in the App if you so choose. - Petals seemed to work well. I don’t have anything to compare it too, so I don’t know how sensitive they are. - There are different modes in the App such as “Expert” or “Beginner”. So, for first time users may want to install the app first and switch modes to make acclimating to it easier. - App is laid out well, intuitive, and connects quickly to the device. - Weighs 24 lbs. making it very portable. Feels well built. - Max speed is 7 mph. Which isn’t great but not bad either. Normal average running speed for humans is about 6 – 8 mph. So, while that may not be very fast means if you do need to bail you should be able to run it off just fine. In the app you can check how fast you are going. CONS: - Built in Bluetooth speaker is appreciated. But the sound is mediocre. - Recharge time is long (5 hours). - During my first testing (which was about 45 – 60 minutes) near the end I constantly got a flashing red light on the device with beeping which would prevent it from working until I turned it off and held down the power on button until it recalibrated. I believe the device was overheating as when I touched the wheels under the spinners it was quite warm. I tried to look under the errors/diagnostic panel on the app, but it showed everything as n/a. which was frustrating. I haven’t had issues since that time. - The Battery icon on the device looks like it should decrease with time. But it doesn’t so I don’t see the point of it. As when I ran out of juice it started to flash red and then turned off and when I checked the app it showed the battery was dead. - Max incline is 20 degrees which means with most hills it won’t work well on. Really need a flat area to make the use out of it. - If you are riding in a non-flat environment due to the wheels being vertical instead of horizontal it can kind of fling you if you are going fast and one wheel goes down while the other is up. Not really a con as that is just a side effect of this type of design. But something I wanted to mention in case the spot you’re planning on riding is like my street.

Super fun to use!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never used a hoverboard before but I did enjoy my time with this one. Hover-1 - Ranger Pro was fantastic to use and extremely easy to get going. My first-time use ever on one of these and it’s a learning curve but a fun one. The hoverboard isn’t light by any means but it’s easy to pick up to get yourself out of the situation if you near-automatic vehicles. Many times I almost went into the street but once off the board it immediately stops once I step off.. Safety comes first with a product like this and the instructions were good getting me going. Once out of the box they would like you to charge up the device for 6 hours. There is a LED light on the charger that indicates when the hoverboard is charged fully. I ran outside with this one to test the features and so far they have all to be working without a hitch. The wheels are huge (10 inches) and can travel to a degree over dirt and grass, struggles with a wet territory but manage to get off course well. There are RGB lights that can change color within the app to give you a little extra flair and flash or you can simply turn them off. A feature, I like is Bluetooth where you can play your music while rolling down the sidewalk. Gets pretty loud too if you want the whole Neighborhood to know what kinda music you are playing. The rims are spinners. What this means is nothing. They look nice no doubt. But they are just spinners and honestly rather them out more features than spinning rims. They shine like crazy and are just there for more flash but in all honesty, serve nothing. Just bragging rights. I can confidently say they hold up and don’t break as easy as I thought they would. The whole board is steady and can take a beating against walls and other bumps. The app is amazing and works! In fact, they put a lot into the app itself making the product even more worth wild. You can set the Hover-1-Hoverboard to beginner, immediate, and expert within the app unlocking your potential use like going faster. You can check the battery status, power off and on the device, The app also lets you see the route you take around your neighborhood and talk to others with hoverboards. Pretty awesome social app but just a good app in general. Many features take place here and I love it. Once I got the hang of getting on it and using it I had a fun time. Balancing yourself is an act but once I started going it was hard to stop going. This will get me into more hoverboards over time and I can say the experience was cool lol. 5/5 stars. Great hoverboard.

Smooth Ride
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros Smooth ride Self-balancing when not in use Good speakers Large pneumatic tires Works on some grass and dirt Different experience modes to help you learn Lights can be configured Easy to see battery and status lights Handles up to 265 pounds Cons Self-balance only works with no one on it Pneumatic tires lean noticeably with a heavy weight Spinners constantly fall off Fit and finish could be better Design and Setup The Ranger Pro is a higher end model from Hover 1 that can handle some mild off-road terrain. Instead of smaller plastic tires, it has 10” pneumatic tires. The overall look is less flashy than the lower end models with a simpler black and silver look. It has spinner hub cabs that make it look as if the tires aren’t turning when you are riding but they aren’t secured very well. One fell off straight out of the box and they would randomly fall off while riding. In fact, the other one fell off shortly after riding and wasn’t discovered until a neighborhood kid was found running around with it in hand thinking they found a new frisbee. The foot pads have a blue X, but beyond that all color comes through the lights on the front and back. Fit and finish is decent but could still use improvement. The silver paint in the middle section of the board was missing in parts, the paint lines don’t match up, one spinner does not stay on, and the seam in the middle is much wider on bottom versus the top making the board look bent. None of these effects the operation but it just makes it feel poorly made. The side intended to be the front has a single long led light bar and the back has three led lights on each side. There is a battery indicator and status indicator on the top in the middle section of the board. Both are easily visible while standing on the board. Included is an app to control certain features such as the light bars and performance mode. You also can view the trip meter, odometer, and speedometer. Strangely, the odometer and trip functions are reversed from what you would understand from a car. Trip is the total miles ridden and odometer is only the current trip distance. While registration is requested it is not required, but you cannot skip agreeing to all the legal agreements. You also don’t need the app to get started as it works straight out of the box. However, if you don’t use the app the board will stay in beginner mode and will not allow you to level up as you improve or change light colors. Usage and Performance While the documentation calls it a self-balancing hoverboard, this means only when no one is on it. The moment anything touches one of the foot pads it starts moving. While this is normal, it would be nice if it didn’t activate the motors at least until both foot pads are pressed. If the two sides are too far out of alignment on startup it will beep at you and show a red X indicating that you need to line them up better before starting. This is a nice safety feature as some might try to jump on otherwise and cause it to start spinning immediately. Speaking of safety, it seems as if they went overboard on the beep. The documentation says it cannot be turned off or adjusted for safety. The problem is it beeps for nearly everything. It beeps when you turn it on, get on, get off, lift it up, the sides are too out of alignment, you change the operating mode, or even change the colors of the lights. Just picking it up to move it to a different area causes it to start beeping constantly. While it is good to consider safety, the sound is so common that it becomes something you learn to ignore rather than pay attention to defeating the purpose of safety. At the very least it should make different types of sounds so you can learn the more dangerous ones. An option to turn off things such as the beep for color changes would be great. The specs say the pneumatic wheels allow the board to comfortably ride on any surface. This claim is a bit ambitious. The pneumatic tires certainly make for a much smoother ride on a slightly rough road, low grass, or some dirt but for the most part it is best kept on pavement. For one, the instructions say to keep it away from moisture or dust. The other is any sort of give in the terrain and the board bogs down and can’t move. While overall the large tires are nice, the downside is if you are heavier, in the upper 100-pound range, the tires give quite a bit meaning it the board leans more unpredictably in turns. It doesn’t mean you can ride it, but it does mean anyone heavier will have to use it with more care. Overall, it is still fun to ride, and smoother ride makes it much more fun. Beyond just riding, two other additional features are the lights and speaker. The lights are configured through the app with options for a solid color, random color, or strobe of a single color. As for the speaker, it sounds surprisingly good for a hoverboard speaker. It also gets plenty loud enough where if you wanted the neighbors down the street could hear your music with you. Final Thoughts The Ranger Pro is, with a little practice, fun to drive. The soft tires make extended use much more enjoyable than a standard hoverboard. Besides the cosmetic fit and finish issues, mechanical parts felt well-built and easily handle riders up to 225 pounds. If you are wanting a hoverboard for larger kids to adults and want to enjoy a ride more like you are gliding, the Ranger Pro is a good option. Just make sure the board is set on the proper skill level in the app before giving it a try.

Solid board with some decent features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Grab this one mostly for my kids and I have always wanted to try one! So here goes No broken bones or injuries!! I say this as a 42-year-old! It was quite easy to figure out, taking about only 5-10 minutes to feel fairly comfortable. The device is a little beefy and I felt comfortable on it. I'm 6'2" 220 so headed to the capacity limit. The build is robust and solid. This thing has some weight and the larger tires provide some sense of mass under me. I never felt like I was to big nor did the performance decline. My only real complaint actually is the tires. They are pneumatic tires so lots of pros/cons there. Let's discuss Pro: softer ride, adjustable stiffness Con: have to keep inflated(what kid does that or cares), not easily adjustable(valve is tucked on the backside and twisted in, this could prove difficult to access with a standard bike tire pump. I know my kids would not be able to do it. I did feel some "squishy" when i rode and hit a small bump The tires on this model are endowed with "spinner" wheels. I would have not chosen these options - I guess it looks cool but they are simple plastic and bearing. My son has already knocked one-off(popped back on easily) but over time I'm sure they will stop spinning or will get damaged. This model also features a Bluetooth speaker. I was kinda excited for this one but was let down by its performance. I was easily able to pair and get the music going. But a single speaker that fires toward the ground just wasn't loud enough for me. Will stick with my headphones over this one. Kids agreed and just used the phone speaker over the board's option. LIghts!!! There are lights that you can change the RGB/strobe/etc using the app. - mostly for aesthetics and not bright enough for path illumination at darker hours. Lots of cool options but serve no other purpose than for show. A couple of notes - the fenders that cover the wheels on the top get scratched up quite a bit. The edges will always hit the ground if you top over I expect these to break at some time. Not sure if they are replaceable. But holding up for now! Power button and charger location. The power button is aluminum and seems tightly sealed but the charger port next to it only has a rubber grommet covering it. I don't think either will ever get overly dirty or exposed to water but just a slight concern with it. would have liked to have seen a cover for these. The app is good for general analytics of your ride like MPH, duration, geomapping. I was not able to find my specific board in the app. But it still worked well. Footpads for control are very large and not overly sensitive. Very well made and look very durable. I expect this device to last a long time! One feature seems to prevent rapid acceleration and just softly tips you off! Probably a great feature. I was able to hit all the markers for speed, distance, battery on my testing! Overall i like the board, expect it to withstand myself and 2 kids for a great while. Nice smooth ride but will require a little maintenance with the tires.

Lightweight and fun hoverboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review._____ *Pros: -It's relatively lightweight at around 21 lbs. Easy to lift and carry around. -The 7mph max speed reduces the chance of serious injury - good for both adults and kids. -7 miles of range is decent and it should be enough for most people. -The app connects to the hoverboard quickly and reliably. -The 10" tubeless tires are supple, can easily ride over most road imperfections, and are pretty quiet. -The Bluetooth speakers surprisingly sound good and are pretty loud. -The custom LED lighting options are nice. -The hoverboard can be ridden without the app. -Battery life is pretty good and the board charges up quickly. -Simple and easy to operate. _____ *Neutral: -Compared to Hover-1's older models, I found the foot sensors to be a bit too sensitive and twitchy. _____ *Cons: -None. The Hover-1 Ranger Pro electric hoverboard is the third product I own from the company (I also own their Switch 2-in-1 electric scooter/skateboard and the H1 hoverboard), and I find myself with mixed feelings about this late-2021/early-2022 offering. My previous hoverboard from the company - the 400W H1 hoverboard with 6.5" solid rubber tires from 2019 - offers more speed (9mph) and more range (9 miles) for the money. Yet, the older H1 hoverboard wasn't very ideal and user-friendly because the tires were made of solid rubber and smaller in size, which led to more noise and rougher ride quality in general. The H1 couldn't be ridden over grassy fields and I had to get off and pick it up when transitioning from a smooth surface to a curb. Ditto for gravel and dirt tracks. The largish 10" pneumatic and tubeless tires on the Ranger Pro is definitely a HUGE improvement as it has translated to more stability, suspension comfort, increased safety, and less noise when out riding on the streets and inside parks. The larger tires also enable the Ranger Pro to traverse more rugged terrain such as rocky dirt pathways and grassy fields. These 10" pneumatic and tubeless tires are nice, but it also means that you are more likely to suffer from flats and have to know how to replace them when that inevitable time comes. Still, it's a worthy trade-off and I would choose pneumatic tubeless tires over solid rubber tires any day. Setting up the Ranger Pro was super simple. After charging it fully, I turned it on, connected my smartphone to it from the phone's Bluetooth settings, opened the Hover-1-Hoverboards app, and configured the board with my own settings. Since I have experience riding hoverboards before, I changed the Mode to Expert for the fastest speed and quickest response times. There is a tracking option within the app that records your route and reports the total distance traveled and average speed. I don't use that feature, however, because I just use the Ride with GPS app, the same app I use for my bike and e-scooter rides. The app was sort of buggy as the Diagnostics screen showed no values and all the readings came back as Unknown. I'm not experiencing any issues right now but if a problem crops up later, it would be difficult to pinpoint the issue when I call customer service. Hover-1 will hopefully update the app more frequently and fix these bugs. I get my real exercise from riding my mountain bike but I like to use this hoverboard when I'm walking my dog around the neighborhood or exploring new places such as parks. The ride is comfortable and quiet, it's easy to accelerate and brake safely, and its relatively low weight makes it easy to carry around. At its current price of $279.99 (as of 2022-01-20), I think the Ranger Pro is worth the coin for those who enjoy electric mobility. The 10" tubeless pneumatic tires are a BIG plus, as is the machine's agile and quick responsiveness and decent speed. 4.5 stars.

A Blast to Ride even for an Old Guy!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I received the Hover-1 Ranger Pro hoverboard for review. I really thought it was cool. I have some younger nieces who visit me and thought this may be something they could do when they come but I never thought it was something I would enjoy or find easy to use! Well I was wrong. I got my out of shape 240 lb self (below the 265lb limit) on this board and within 2 minutes was whizzing around my office making maneuvers easily. The board has all terrain tires and is able to travel most anywhere. Top speed is 7mph you can travel in style with LED lighting of multiple colors single color or random, strobing or solid. There is a Bluetooth speaker and you can play music through the speakers while riding along. The app even includes a map feature so if you decide to go somewhere on your board you can track yourself and use it to find your way. The app includes a speed and distance display and led controls. So needless to say I am now a self proclaimed Hoverboarder! So if you see some old overweight guy whizzing past you with Aerosmith don’t stop me now blasting it may be me!

Our second Hover-1 and it is great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this is the second Hover-1 Hoverboard we got for our kids and so far they are loving this one. We didn't get the go-kart seat attachment thing yet but will probably get it eventually like we have for the other one. This thing is bigger than the other one they had, I didn't realize it until I set it down behind the other one and saw just how much bigger. This one has the larger 10" tires that actually have good tread on them to get through dirt/grass if needed. It is very stable and two of our kids were on it and racing around within minutes. The spinner wheels are also a cool effect when they are zipping by and come to a stop and the rims keep spinning. Lights are pretty cool and connecting to the board via the App was simple and straightforward. I didn't see this particular model in the app yet so could be just because it is so new. Connected my kids phone to the speaker via Bluetooth easy enough so they can annoy the neighbors as they race down the street. Overall very happy with this as our second Hoverboard, not sure I will be getting on it anytime soon but it is rated for up to 265lbs I believe so I always have the option.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I brought this to the park and it goes faster than 7mph. Its not good for beginners. I actually had to jump off coz it was going too fast ;D Its hard to stop when it goes too fast. Don't get me wrong I like this, coz of its durability and the Bluetooth connection and the lights, but its not for beginners. ALSO THE SPINNERS COMES OFF TOO EASY.

Great overall hoverboard
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my daughter and ended up keeping it for myself. Based on the great sale price I thought it was for a younger child, I purchased it for my 7 year old daughter and it was just a little too big and powerful for her. Battery is great, speed is good, speaker sounds really good and much better then expected, the app feature is a cool add on to change the lights and set the skill level on it. Would recommend for sure.
