Nice monitor that can be a little blurry
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Assembly was very easy and took about 5 minutes; including unpacking the box. It does include an HDMI cable. Minimal connections on the back of the monitor. There is a cable holder inside the monitor stand which makes it easy to keep the cables organized. The power cord is a little short so I had to adjust its position on my desk. The size is very nice. And it also has a tilt feature. Unfortunately, the monitor cannot be raised or lowered, just tilted. Maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 100 Hz. Low blue light technology helps minimize the blue light and is easier on your eyes. The anti-glare is appreciated. I normally wear computer glasses but this monitor really helps reduce eye fatigue. I will still wear my glasses since they work very well. The 100Hz refresh rate is very good. If you are a serious gamer, you will need a much higher refresh rate. The monitor also has onscreen controls. This monitor is nice but sometimes can be a little blurry. I was experimenting with zooming in and out and maximizing vs. minimizing. It actually seemed blurry when more minimized, but not in all situations. I tested with spreadsheets, photos, surfing the internet and a little gaming. It wasn’t consistently blurry in any situation and about 10% of the time. My husband agreed it was blurry occasionally. This is a decent less expensive monitor. I even hooked it up to my laptop to watch a movie and that worked fine. Colors were vivid. A little different than another HP monitor that doesn’t have the low blue light technology. You wouldn’t notice if you didn’t have them side by side.

Big Monitor with great colors for everyday tasks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Series 5 532sf FHD Monitor is a large monitor that is good for multitasking and enjoying movies. The first impression when I opened the box is the size of the screen; at 31.5 inches, it has ample screen real estate with a sleek design and thin bezel that offer a modern look complementing any workspace. It connects through VGA or through two HDMI ports. It only takes a handful of minutes to put it together; just attach the stand to the back of the monitor and no tools are required. The stand is very basic and only offers tilt adjustments and cannot be adjusted for height and cannot swivel either. The bottom left of the monitor has the power buttons and four additional setting buttons. It can get a bit complicated to maneuver through the settings with those buttons. Thankfully, the HP Display Center app from the Microsoft store makes the process much simpler plus it gives you access to many options to customize it to your liking. Once connected and turned on, it is an easy to use monitor. As expected from a VA panel monitor, the colors are vibrant with great contrast. The Full HD (1920x1080) resolution is good enough for everyday use. Personally, because of the size, I would prefer a higher resolution for sharper visuals. I do video and photo editing as a hobby, and this monitor would not be my favorite because of the resolution limitations. However, it’s a great monitor to watch movies, surf the web and do basic work such as emailing and preparing reports; it has beautiful colors that you can customize with the adjustable contrast, color and black levels. Also, the refresh rate rate can be adjusted up to 100 Hz which is perfect for movies, smoother scrolling and playing light games. Another option I like is the HP Eye Ease that filters out blue light thus reducing eye strain. I’ve used it several times and it really helps. I wish it had integrated speakers especially with a monitor that size; it would have been more convenient than using headphones or external speakers. In my opinion, the HP Series 5 532sf is a well-rounded monitor for everyday tasks, casual entertainment, productivity work and browsing. That large clear display offers a smoother refresh rate, some eye care features, good color accuracy, and a modern design. I would recommend it unless you’re looking for a monitor for professional design work or high-resolution gaming.

Great monitor (low pixel density)
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great monitor for the price, the pixel density is very low, so don't expect a super crisp image, but it looks great on the desk and 100hz makes for super smooth office work. Keep in mind the lack of DP connection.

Not for me, but solid overall!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this monitor. It looks sleek sitting on the computer table, it has great value for its price point vs its size, its refresh rate is solid, and it has ample inputs. BUT! The resolution is lacking and because of its size, it shows. It was a bummer hooked up to my Mac mini as all my eyes kept focusing on was the pixelation of the screen. Some things still looked great such as animations, but while using it for basic things with text, I couldn’t help but stare at the pixels.

My New Best Monitor!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the privilege of owning several HP products in the past, beginning with the iconic HP 1100 laser printer in 1990. I still have it, and it works like it did the day it was brand new, although I no longer use it as my main laser printer. That job has been taken over by another HP laserjet. I say all that to say that I have also owned several HP monitors over the years. I have a multi-monitor setup and all of the monitors are HP brand. So I was excited to be able to add this one to my setup. I was a bit shocked when the delivery driver dropped it off at the house. The box was huge. Yes, the HP Series 5 VA LED FHD 100Hz Monitor is a 31.5 inch monitor, but I guess I didn't realize just how large 31.5 inches really is. But just as surprising is just how light it is for being a 31.5” monitor. And one thing I absolutely love about HP products is the built-in carrying handle on their boxes. You can carry them around just like a piece of luggage. I might add just how useful these boxes can be later on for carrying around all types of things. In other words, you don’t have to throw these boxes away, but you can save them for use later. The boxes are sturdy, and by reusing them, we can go a good way in lightening our footprint on the environment. Unpacking and setting up the monitor required no help from the quick-start guide. It took longer to make a place for it on my tabletop than it did to assemble it and hook it up. Now this might be due to the fact I have assembled other HP monitors. For being over 31 inches, the HP Series 5 is surprisingly light due to it being an LED monitor, so there was no awkward having to hold it, or balancing it to keep it from falling due to its weight. The hardest part was putting on the base, which was super easy, so that just goes to show you how easy it is to assemble. What I really like about this monitor is that it is ready to go right out of the box. That is, once you put on the base and hook up the cables, its ready to use. You don’t have to go through a lot of adjustments to get it ready for whichever computer you decide to hook it up to. Of course, there are personal preference adjustments you can make, but like I said, it is ready to go once it is hooked up. HP suggests downloading the HP monitor app. So much for the setting up of the HP Series 5…how good is it? As with any product, the final judgment rests in how well it does what it is supposed to do. I first connected the monitor to an older laptop. Let me interject here about the silky-smooth tilt function of the HP! With one effortless push or pull of the finger, the monitor tilts forward or backward with ease! The monitor comes with both VGA and HDMI outputs, so it is usable with computers that don’t have HDMI or USB inputs. The images on the HP monitor were grainy, and the lettering wasn’t anywhere near as crisp as I thought it should be. But then, it was an older computer, and that was about the best I was going to get with it. In other words, the resolution had nothing to do with the HP, but the source. I then connected it to a computer I have had less than a year, and I was stunned at the difference. I don’t want to seem over-laudatory here, but there’s just something about seeing such high resolution on a larger scale that makes your jaw drop! The colors were rich and deep, the text is so sharp and crisp. There are no blurry boundary lines, no bleeding of colors. And the black color? For some reason it is difficult to reproduce black colors on monitors…they just typically don’t hit the mark. But just like the other two HP monitors I own, the Series 5 hit a bullseye! When using video-editing software, even under high-stress environments, the monitor outdid itself! There was absolutely no pixelating or glitching. The same with the several games I tried out. I could go on and on, but as I stated earlier, the proof comes out when a product does (or in this case, exceeds) what it is supposed to do. The built-in eye saver technology prevents the eye strain so often associated with long-term exposure to monitors. After several hours, the only fatigue I felt was the normal sitting-in-one-place-for-hours fatigue, when the body begins to rebel. My eyes were still ready for more. The colors of the display are outstanding, as is the refresh rate (at 100Hz) allows seamless and pleasurable viewing and immersion, no matter if its gaming or simply browsing the web. And I can’t get by without mentioning how great the built-in speakers sound. For built-in speakers, they are remarkably loud, clean, and distortion-free. I would have liked for them to have a tad more volume, but again, they rock for built-ins. Is the HP Series 5, 31.5” FHD the best monitor on the market, especially at this price point? That’s like asking what is the best car on the market, or the best house. But for me, the answer is absolutely yes. It is an LED FHD monitor that allows a thrilling experience under even the most taxing needs. It has multiple monitor capabilities, and multiple inputs. This is my new “bestie.” The bottom line is would I recommend THIS HP monitor to my friends, or my family? Yes, yes I would. And in fact, I already have. HP, just keep up the great work. You guys continue to show the rest of the tech world just what a great company you really are! Thanks!!

Very good monitor but DisplayPort option needed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bigger is almost always better when it comes to computer monitors. So if you have the room for a spacious 31.5 incher, you could do a lot worse than new HP Series 5 532f FHD monitor. As the name suggests, the resolution here is full HD, 1920x1080, which is more than adequate for sharp images when dealing with most computing tasks. Its also a VA (vertical alignment) panel, instead the more common IPS (in plane switching) , which means that while viewing angles are limited, color and contrast are very good. Refresh rates of up to 100 hz are supported. Wide viewing angles are usually not important with computer monitors since you generally sit right in front of them all the time. This HP monitor has the same basic design as those of the previous-generation. That means the screen itself is very thin and light, the bezel very small and and setup is super easy. A small tilting riser simply clicks into place and it is joined to an elegant metal stand with a single screw. Even better you don't even a screwdriver to tighten it down. A flip up handle on the screw head means you can tighten it with your bare hands. All assemblies should be this easy. All mointor settings are via hidden push buttons under the lower right corner of the screen. I have never been a fan of this approach, since it makes navigating the various menu options difficult. But this setup is now typical on almost all computer monitors. The range of settings are fairly typical, except perhaps for HP's EyeEase option, which is supposed filter out blue light and reduce eye discomfort. This is of marginal value in my view since recent studies indicate blue light from computer moinitors is not anything you need to worry about. But it's there if you want to try it. For what is worth, I found the out-of-the box image settings on this monitor were excellent and required no additional tweaking. Colors were bright and vivid. Contrast was very good. Images were nice and sharp. Input options on this monitor are limited to two HDMI and one VGA port (does anyone really still use those?) It would be nice if HP would add a DisplayPort option since that is all that is available on some newer computers. But low-cost adapters make it easy to get around that issue. The monitor comes with an HDMI cable. Overall, the HP Series 5 532f is a very good monitor, providing me very little to complain about except maybe the price.

Super thin and HUGE
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the box is the monitor, power plug, HDMI cable, monitor stand and a quick start guide. First impression - This monitor is huge and I am loving the super slim frame. I own quite a few monitors but none of them are this thin. I would also like to mention that when I took the monitor out of the protect foam bag, I notice right away that my hand prints were on the screen. (I constantly wash my hands and apply hand creme, so my hands can be a little oily at times.) The monitor has 2 HDMI ports and 1 VGA port. The buttons for power and the menu settings are on the right side and there is an indicator light that is white when on and amber when in sleep mode. The stand allows you to tilt the monitor but it does not go up and down. On the bottom left side of the front of the monitor, it says 100Hz (the box states 100Hz refresh rate), 3 sided borderless, tilt, low blue light and 31.5 diagonal length. This is great for me because I am constantly looking at a screen and I am definitely going to switch this out with one of my monitors in the home office. The quick start guide says that the maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 100Hz. When you manually turn on the monitor-the setting will be set to 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz and the input is automatically set to auto-switch input as on. The monitor will be able to detect the device that is plugged in and turned on (power save option). The visuals on the monitor is pretty good with the included HDMI cord. I was able to watch videos and use it for work and I love how big the screen is. There is an app for the monitor that is in the Microsoft Store that will allow you make changes to the settings or you can use the buttons on the bottom of the right side (front) of the monitor. I ended up using the buttons on the monitor more because I love how there are arrows and check marks to assist with moving around in the settings menu to adjust the settings. I normally don’t adjust settings on a monitor, so I am learning the different items in the menu. There is a blue light setting which is also new to me and you will definitely notice a change in the view. I would also like to note that when I watched videos, the sound went to my laptop. Overall, I am very excited to have a newer larger screen and I am definitely impressed with the design because there is a bulky back. I would definitely recommend this monitor to friends and family.

Fantastic
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor exceeds my expectations. Easy set up and a cord pass through behind the stand to keep things tidy. After set up I downloaded the HP Display Center which allows many customizations. In the Input tab for instance, you have the ability of switching from the default of 65hz to 100hz refresh rate. Super fast motion. Movies, games etc.. work great. I use this display mostly for music production so the larger real estate allows me to see so much more of my recording software. I have this connected to a HP desktop for my use. There are 2 HDMI ports so you easily connect another monitor for display transfer. There is 1 VGA port. FreeSync AMD adaptive to change refresh rate to match your needs. Anti glare easy on the eyes blue light filter. This is a very thin stylish looking monitor. Adjusting the tilt of the display is very easy. HP includes the HDMI cable and the packaging is over the top. Very well protected as mine was shipped to me. I am very pleased with this product. I have always enjoyed using HP products in general with very little issues. I would definitely recommend!
