Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the ease of use, print quality, and reasonable price of the DeskJet Plus 4155 printer. Many appreciate its compact size and quiet operation, while also finding the scanning functionality user-friendly via the accompanying app. However, some users experienced challenges with WiFi connectivity and clarity of the setup instructions. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and print quality outweighs the negative comments regarding setup and connectivity.

Great if you like to spend hours on one print job

This printer is possibly the worst investment I’ve ever made.. Literally every single time I’ve ever tried to print, it doesn’t work. It takes me HOURS to get one document to print. EVERY time. I have connected my wifi, connected to the direct wifi connection, set up the printer email, but NOTHING maintains a valid connection. It says “ready” and then “printing” when nothing at all is printing, then it’s finished! If I cancel it, then it tells me it’s busy for the next 45 minutes every time I try to print again... It’s loaded with paper and ink, connected to wifi, and I can’t troubleshoot because it stays “busy” or “cancelling” or “processing” for hours and won’t do anything else, including troubleshooting the problem. I would’ve saved myself so much time and money, stress and frustration if I would’ve just opted to use a third party printing service instead, paid by the job, and drove to pick it up each time instead of buying a printer that I’m contemplating smashing on the ground, at least that would be cathartic, since it does not print.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed so poorly. I can wholly understand why spending hours troubleshooting and waiting to print single documents would quickly go well beyond frustrating, so I’ll offer a resource and some information I hope will help.

I can’t tell from your review what’s causing the issues you describe or whether they’re related, so I recommend that you call us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

Must Trouble Shoot Every time I Print

HP has really gone down hill. This is the 3rd HP I’ve had in 6 months. The 4100 won’t stay connected to the internet. Every time I want to print I have to spend 20 minutes on the HP website trying to connect it, and trouble shoot it. Do not waste your money on this. Last night I spent 30 minutes trouble shooting and it still won’t print. The display reads that it is connected to WIFI, but when I go to web site to print says it’s off line. Maybe it’s the requirement to have to do everything with HP’s website now. Its to much of a hassle will definitely take it back. I’m ready to go back to Brother for a printer.

    Works Well For Home Setting

The HP Deskjet Plus 4155 Wireless All In One Instant Ink-Ready Inkjet Printer has many good qualities - it's compact, pretty quiet when printing, can scan, copy & print, can run wireless (didn't work well for us) & with a cable to connect (not sure of the name?), prints from my iPhone, has access to Instant Ink program. It is not complicated as it has very few buttons but speaking as a legally blind person the buttons & screen are very very small for even those with 20/20 vision. I have had to memorize the buttons but at least there aren't many!!! Loading the paper in the back is a little tricky and it only holds small amounts of paper. You can feed your documents through the top of the printer which can be a time saver. It is a good printer for the price and if being used in a home setting where there is not too much printing going on - it's probably perfect. (It works for us.) The best part is definitely the Instant Ink program which we are getting free for 3 months to start & after that I believe will save us lots of time & money. The quality of the print has been good so far. I do have to say getting it installed remotely took pretty much most of a work day, was frustrating & then had to be fixed just a few days later after it would not print at all! We had to connect it both by wi-fi and cable - now it seems better. Tech support could have been better but they were swamped & had problems with the install to my Dell computer. I would recommend finding someone to install it or if you are able - go for it! I wish I had paid for the in home installation. Overall I am happy. Nothing in life is perfect - especially technology.

Good All In One for the money

Overall, this is a pretty good printer for the value. We bought it to replace another HP model that finally up and died. Setup is a little clunky trying to get all our smart devices to recognize the printer. The one downside, there is no way to hook up to an older computer via any wires and my old desktop (where this is located) does not have bluetooth. Not a big issue as I'm 90% on my laptop now anyway, but something to think about before you buy.

Print quality great, but you can only connect this printer through WiFi and it disconnects from my network randomly, for no apparent reason. Next time I'll get a printer that gives you the option of using a USB cable if it becomes temperamental about WiFi. Guess HP wanted to save money on manufacturing cost by leaving out the customary USB connection. Bad idea.

Purchase an upgraded model. It took 5 hours to set this model up with tech support. they were unable to figure out why THEY were unable to link up my laptop to the wireless printer. Then they charged me almost $40.00 for 7 days worth of tech assistance, they tried to sell me a years worth of tech experience but I refused The printer is loud and slow. I have only purchased HP printers with out a problem However this one is terrible. Thankfully this is our Back up printer so we don't have to walk all the way across the house to use the primary printer

Bigger than I thought it was going to be but it works. The quality is pretty good just for doing regular printing. I have not done any photo printing. I signed up for the instant ink and haven’t gotten my starter kit yet but look forward to not having to worry about running out of ink. It comes with two starter ink cartridges, which didn’t last me very long. At first the printer didn’t want to connect to my WiFi. The next day it worked and printed out the page that had my printers email address on it which can be changed. It did not come with a wire to plug into those devices that do not support wireless printing (I have an older laptop). The only annoying part is when you shut down the printer, if it is connected to WiFi, the printer will “sleep” when you push the power button, but the power button blinks and it’s annoying. I just cut out a circle of electrical tape and put it on top of the button.

Is working fine at the moment. Bu I didn’t realized that it doesn’t have the ability to connect an ethernet cable. It’s only wireless. I wouldn’t buy it if I realized that, prior to the 14 day to return it. But overall is a good printer.

Printer is okay. I am having difficulty setting printer up, very slow internet where I live and the directions for set up are very sketchy. Maybe HP could make the set up less stressful by addressing the actual printer not just a generic set up for all printers.

The printer, itself, was fine. The application/location of use was the issue. I planned to use in a 2nd home condo. We share a wifi address in all condos. This forced me to have to use PRINTDIRECT wifi setting to print; log out of wifi used to obtain document, log into Printer wifi, print, then log back into condo wifi....too much trouble. NO DIRECT connection port available on this printer. This should be more clear in the description.

Was a little difficult to get setup by Geek squad. It wouldn't connect to internet. However, even though the printer report says that, I have been able to print from my phone and laptop (though the laptop still needs some setup). The Geek Squad is coming back to finish up everything.

Well, I did read the reviews which said that it was going to be difficult almost impossible to connect wirelessly. Well, the reviews were right. I wasn't able to connect wirelessly so I had to purchase a USB cord which is not included just in case. Other than that it works pretty welll so far.
