Great Build with almost all the bases covered

The HP OMEN Obelisk is a really nice machine with a modern style case, interior lighting, and nearly all of the components you may ever need.
This build has a very nice i7-9700 processor, that runs at 3.0GHz, 4.7GHz in Turbo mode. The operating system (Windows 10) is installed on the 256GB M.2 SSD while you have a 1TB 3.5 HDD for all of your other storage. A single stick of 16GB Kingston HyperX DDR4 RAM sits on the motherboard leaving a second slot open for expansion. nVidia GTX 1660Ti graphics card, a newer release from nVidia which has been amazing in all of my gaming sessions thus far. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wireless plus all of your usual I/O.
As mentioned above, the nVidia GTX 1660Ti has been great at running the games in my rotation at this time. I am able to run The Division 2 on Ultra while sticking right around the 60FPS mark. Gears of War 4, State of Decay 2 and Beat Hazard were all very enjoyable. I had a little fun trying to get Apex Legends and Final Fantasy XIV running because of an issue with ActiveX continuing to fail, morely this is an OS issue and I can't verify for anyone else with this build if they experienced the same issue. Once I did get them installed it was all smooth sailing. With my current layout I played all of these games on wireless and have to say network performance was great and I did not experience any lag.
I gave this machine a 5 star, because for most, this is a solid build, with simple improvements available that would be easy to complete yourself. The one downside is there are not very many PCI slot (if any additional, didn't remove the GPU). I count that as a negative because when I started getting into computers I purchased a prebuilt machine and overtime opened it up, replaced components and added additional HDDs and cards getting me comfortable with repairing things myself. (This was before WiFi was included so one of my upgrades) For a lot of people this isn't even a factor so I didn't ding the machine because this is just a negative to me.
With my small complaint, I am happy with this machine, those that purchase this machine would have everything needed preinstalled, checks pretty much every box off. You have a keyboard and mouse to get you started, it's very simple slimline on both, I tested them briefly before swapping them out with a gaming keyboard and mouse. This machine has high enough specs to handle your gaming needs, with the ability to upgrade key components down the line if you choose to.
**Box has a little wear from shipping, however packaged very well nothing was damaged even the glass panel. I also included photos of the Motherboard and I/O Panel incase anyone was curious.

Initial inspections and glances made me feel confident with this desktop. HP clearly did well and will continue doing so if they improve on products such as this. It’s outer case feels sturdy and not cheap. Out of the box, the desktop comes with: keyboard, mouse and power cord. I don’t game everyday, but I do intend to use it for medium gaming. I saw that because I don’t plan on “pushing” the limits of the computer, but will enjoy things like Fortnite, Fall Out and Borderlands.
Pros:
Easy fast setup
Super Fast Boot Time
Connected well with my wireless mouse
Connected well with my keyboard
My Alienware headphones synced nicely.
Doing basic things like search the web is very fast.
First game played – Fortnite and wow!
Fast load and install time
Perfect for Streaming
Sturdy build
Cons:
Two USB ports on top
Can be little loud
Serious gamers might need a cooling fan or something soon
No DVD drive
To be honest, I highly recommend you upgrade your gear and don’t use the keyboard and mouse that comes with it. I’m not trying to be snotty, but I’m sure most gamers already have their own gear or something far superior than the basic. If you’re using this more for family situations or the occasional game, then no worries.
Overall:
This is a great gaming computer. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but it allows you to upgrade where you see fit. At $1,200+ for no DVD drive is a little disappointing. I get we’re in a digital age, but it’d be cool to have Bluray capabilities with this device. It’s a simple fix to get an external drive to plug in, but that’s more money out of the pocket. Streaming gamers will really enjoy it.
I noticed when I really pushed it; it got a little loud and warm to the touch. I suspect I’ll have to invest in some cooling device if I ever become a hardcore gamer. But I’m sure hardcore gamers prefer to customize their computers. I haven’t experienced any issues or lag when I’ve used this computer, but I have heard some people have.
Overall, I highly recommend for the average gamer. If you’re a serious time gamer, there are better products out there for you.

Great Gaming Rig

When I look at the feature of what makes a good mid-level gaming rig, this set up checks all of the boxes. The main reasons I recommend this PC are the following: Specs, Noise Levels and Sturdiness.
Specs - This rig comes loaded right out of the gate,16 gig memory, 1 TB storage on a silent solid state drive, and an i7. The graphics card GTX 1660 is also a great level card to come standard with any PC. If I were to look at this setup and compare it to any games minimum requirements, it would exceed most, if not all. After popping the hood I was also able to see that this rig is build to upgrade if desired. This pc is build to stream right out of the box and has all needed ports to do so, even some conveniently located on top of the box, opposed to the bottom as some towers have.
Next comes the noise levels of the PC. The SSD is quiet, and i mean super quiet. I compare this to my previous pc and it is equal to comparing a rocket taking off to a whisper quiet hum. I was blown away by this feature as I, oddly enough, have never owned a SSD.
Lastly, but least. The build of this rig is sturdy, its not flimsy. When opening the case to see, first hand what upgrade options i had, I was pleasantly surprised that the fastening hardware was not cheap, it was well built.
All in all, if you are looking to attain a solid gaming rig that can stream right out of the gate, i recommend this set up as a first option!

Purchased an open box version of the Omen during black Friday, essentially stole this thing, and I'm in love!!! I will start by saying Ive been a console user all my life, specifically xbox. Setting this thing up was essentially as easy as plugging in your new Xbox and signing into your account. Next, the performance, I don't know if this will satisfy the highest end PC snobs, but if youre coming from console or an outdated PC this thing is a beast! I usually play on my Xbox One X and am stunned graphically, but I would say that this product takes the ball even further! Not only does it run beautiful HD games with a deep color palate, it also runs them at high framerates keeping the in game motion buttery smooth! I ran The Outerworlds (The Newest Game in my Library) at max settings just as a test for this PC, runs it great, steady 80-100 FPS the whole time! I initially purchased this with the intent of it being a VR machine, but its looking like it may convert me to a PC gamer as well. Thanks Best Buy, and thanks HP. Great product. Great Christmas present if any parents are looking for a reasonably priced gaming PC!

I had to replace my computer. But I didn’t want to price out individual parts or piece it together from a boutique site. So I decided to get a premade. I think for the price it’s a good compromise of performance. I like that it’s a small ATX form factor.
I do a bit of gaming and so far it’s been really good at handling them. I could have opted to spend $500 more to get the nvidia 2080. But, I was coming from a 1080, so the 1650 was plenty of an upgrade.
It lists that it comes with an SSD, but fails to mention (specifically) that it’s an M2 SSD, which is awesome. Windows starts up, literally in 2 seconds. It’s blazing fast.
There’s not much going on inside the case. Cable management from factory is acceptable. I added a 3rd hard drive to the hard drive bay (there are two bays), and the cables were right by to plug it in.
As with a premade, it does come with some bloatware. Namely HP software. It’s minimal, but it’s there. And it’s integrated into Windows Shell... so good luck getting rid of it.
I’ve had it for a couple months and have had zero problems. I think for $1000 it was a pretty good deal.

I usually build my own systems, but this one had everything I wanted and cost less than what I'd spend to build it (I got it on sale for around $1,000). For this price, this is a very fast, very capable system. I'm not much of a gamer, I just play a few games occasionally. Performance for my use is outstanding. I imagine for a hard core gamer, that might not be the case. I do use the system for a lot of graphics and video work. The system performance with those applications is excellent!
As mentioned in many other reviews, the case provided has some limits on expansion. Access to the inside is extremely easy - push a button and the side of the case opens right up and comes off. There is one open hard drive bay (SATA and power connections are already there). No tools required, so it's very easy to pop drives in or out. There is also an open mount at the top of the case for liquid cooling or you can install a 120mm fan there. (More on that later). Other than that, you have no other options for adding anything to this system. However, one of the great features of this system is HP has made it very easy to upgrade any of the installed components.
Cooling/System Temps - This area is addressed in many reviews, with several reviewers stating their system runs very hot. I have not found that to be true. My system temps are: GPU 37°/CPU 56° at idle - GPU 39° / CPU 63° at load (running GTA V along with 4 videos playing, or while doing heavy graphics work). Those are actually much lower than I would expect of any system. I haven't changed anything in the stock system (i.e., have not added additional cooling or changed anything else).
The bottom of the case is vented and sits very close to the floor. The power supply and graphics card are both at or near the bottom of the case. I suspect if you place the system on carpet, this would be blocked and may create an issue with cooling. No matter what, it is likely raising the system up off the floor a bit would be a benefit. As it comes with very small rubber feet, even on a hard floor, the system only sits about 2mm off the floor.
Although I don't have any heat issues, based on everything I've read, I decided to install a 120mm fan at the top of the case to see how what it might change. Surprisingly, with the fan installed to blow air into the case, or install to suck air out of the case, my temps went UP. Obviously, I uninstalled the fan and left the stock configuration. Noting that, I would say if you're pushing this system hard and need additional cooling, liquid cooling would be the best solution.
This is not a hardcore overclocker/gamer system (and it doesn't cost $2,500 or more). What it is, is a kick as, fast, capable system at an awesome price. Even at the normal price (around $1,200), it's well worth it.

I bought this PC with the intent of editing 4k footage which suffice to say has been nothing short of excellent. The PC comes with a software that isn't advertised that can boost your network speed and be able to allocate where to devote that speed to. Overall, great experience.

This is my first prebuilt gaming pc. I usually buy the parts and put it together. But I’ve been busy and not much time to fiddle with parts so I decided to get this one.
I bought one that’s Open Box and Geek Squad Certified. It’s practically brand new. Fast machine out of the box. Might replace the gpu, not that it’s slow, I just prefer something else. Definitely replacing the stock cooler since it can get noisy when gaming. And the case looks fantastic in my opinion.
A few cons:
-Case could use front intake fans for better airflow.
-Cutout for cpu bracket access.
-wireless adapter antennas weren’t properly connected (then again, those things disconnects easily)
Other than those, this is a great value of a pc!

I got this as a Black Friday deal at $899 in Store which is important to know for context reasons. Basically, I couldn't have built this machine myself at this price, and the way this machine looks, and how well it is put together just cements the value in my book.
I was upgrading from a 3rd Gen Core i5 build with GTX 1070Ti, and the only downside was the fact that my GTX 1070Ti wouldn't fit in this case so I am stuck with the GTX 1660 Ti that came with this machine, and I have to say I am mighty impressed. I play Planetside 2 and COD Modern Warfare (2019) and both are silky smooth at 1440p and look incredible. (I'm using nVidia recommended settings) so not having my 1070 Ti hasn't been an issue and in fact I re-sold that card for $220 so I have a bit of cash back in my pocket.
The lighting system on the case is fantastic and fully configurable. (I have it cycle through all the colours of the rainbow), and as I said above, the quality of the build, components, cable routing etc is great.
You do get some pre-installed bloatware, but it didnt take more than 5 minutes to remove it all, and the machine is lightning quick to boot up and is very quick, regardless of what it is I am doing.
During gaming the fans do spin up and without Headphones you do notice the additional noise, but with headphones, you'll barely hear it. For regular desktop stuff (spreadsheets, web browsing etc), the system is basically silent for me.
The only issue I had was that the inbuilt WiFi was finicky with my Netgear Orbi RBR50 Router and Satellite, in the location my PC is used. I didn't have this problem with my old PC which had a PCI WiFi card with 3x external antennae, so I ended up routing an Ethernet cable instead. Not a major pain for me, but a slight inconvenience all the same.
One last thing, apart from being able to add 1x more stick of RAM, you have no option to add anything else on the be-spoke HP motherboard that comes in this build as everything is taken already. (There are loads of USB ports through - A and C)

I am generally nervous about purchasing PCs from the major brands due to the bloatware, markups, and unnecessary frills, BUT, despite being HP branded this PC minimizes all of those concerts.
Bloatware is minimal. Just a single HP support app that actually seems somewhat useful. McAfee is installed but something about it the version here is just less annoying and resource intensive. Even the Omen command center that allows you to adjust colors inside the case, etc. is kind of cool and hardly noticeable unless you want it.
Performance is good. This thing is very quiet and the power supply is actually adequate vs. many of the comps. The SSD and HDD are both helpful and everything loads quickly. Games run smoothly. Plenty of ability to add peripherals such as a Blu-Ray or DVD burners with USB-C. I’ve done some editing and publishing and though not working on 4K ultra HD, I’m satisfied considering the price.
The value is there as a similarly specced custom rig will run about the same price- but this ones ready to almost immediately.
I’m satisfied after a month of near daily use including work, vid editing, programming, and gaming. Recommended!

I needed something so I could edit a lot of videos in Premier. I overlooked some of the crybaby reviews and bought it based on how it performed in the store. I've now had it 3 months and it does everything I need it to without any issues. Very speedy and very pleased. If you'll do a lot of video stuff, you'll run through 1TB pretty quick. I ended up buying a backup external drive. Also, it doesn't hurt to plug in a SD card/USB hub thingy as this doesn't have many options on the front. Everything else is great.

If I could, I’d give it 3.5 stars, but I’ll skew it up. The PC works fine and is a solid performer. I only have a 1080p monitor and so far all games run pretty smooth on fairly high settings. The down side however is the actual build. For starters, it only comes with a single stick of ram. Which wouldn’t be horrible, as ram is a fairly cheap and easy upgrade, but you cannot buy another stick of HyperX memories with the same CL19 timing. I ended up purchasing a stick from another manufacturer with matching specs that seems to work in dual channel. The second issue is the case causes it to run on the hotter side. There is only on small, maybe 80mm, exhaust fan. Do not put the case on carpet. The bottom of the case is vented and carpet blocks that air flow. Also, glass side of the case has very small vents that get clogged with dust very easy. I ended up mounting another 120mm exhaust fan on the top of the case. I’m still contemplating replacing the cpu cooler with a better air cooled one or possibly a 120mm air. So in short, buy knowing it’s not perfect out of the box

I bought this from the local BB on 11/8/19, and have had a great experience with it over the last month of use. It has twice shut down unexpectedly, but I believe my daughter was hitting the surge protector on the floor, so I just replaced that with another one that has a more protected button. The PC itself is great — very snappy, and easily configured. I replaced the included 1TB HDD with 2 existing 2TB data drives that I already had, but otherwise, I installed everything from scratch. I customized the chassis colors, which makes for a nice bonus feature!
I don’t game, nor do my kids, so the PC is mostly for hosting media, light internet browsing, and my daughter’s steady stream of BNHA-inspired YouTube videos. I had an HP laptop that I bought last year, and this is a nice compliment to that...
It is my first store bought PC since 1995, as I have always built my own, but the specs of this for the cost (especially for my usage level) was tough to pass up @ $899!
Highly recommended!

HP Omen is a superfast PC and with the included hybrid drive, it restarts pretty fast. It has all the power needed for Photoshop and video editing. I don't play much video games, so can't comment on that but the video card displays graphics very well. Change default drive to 'D' for saving files, otherwise, the 'C' drive gets full very fast.

I am not a gamer, but I wanted performance. I also wanted something that would last, so I was looking for an i7 9th generation processor. This computer has that. I am moving from a 4th generation i5 with a 5400rpm hard drive to this machine with an 256GB SSD, so start up and shut down went from minutes to seconds. My only complaint: The Best Buy where I purchased this PC had the display model set up with an HP gaming keyboard and mouse. I really thought that was what I was getting. I read other reviews before purchasing. They said that the keyboard and mouse and were about as basic as possible. After trying them at the store I thought wow, these devices seemed pretty good to me as a non-gamer. The reviews were correct.
