    Broke After A Few Months

Used it a few months at most after waiting to set it up, got a paper jam, carefully cleared it and now it makes a loud noise when printing. It sounds like the carriage continues to keep going after the job is done. This happened within 24 hours of cancelling extended coverage with Best Buy. I basically threw away over $300 bucks. There was no reason for the jam on my end. Huge disappointment.

I have used nothing but HP printers since 1998. They have always worked flawlessly for me, and were work horses. I bought this new one hoping to save on ink. Biggest mistake ever. Sure I might be saving ink but this printer has been the biggest piece of crap I have ever had. It loses connection with WIFI constantly. Everytime I go to print something I have to go through the trouble shooter to reconnect and find the printer. I would not recommend this printer to anybody. I wished I had never upgraded in the first place.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry that your printer has performed so poorly. It’s easy to understand why frequent connectivity difficulty would quickly become exasperating. I want to help you resolve this problem, so I’ll suggest some resources aimed at making that happen.

First, if you’ve not done so already, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including wireless connectivity. You can find that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

You can also find troubleshooting guides specific to your printer, including ones on connectivity, in addition to user manuals, how-to documents and software updates here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-smart-tank-7000-series/2100178735

If connectivity does not adequately improve, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the quickest route to a resolution. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

it does not work as a printer as it will not communicate with my desk top or lap top. I had to replace it once and 2nd one works no better than the first.

    I'm done with HP

Set up was complicated. Connecting to wireless was a headache. It also had trouble connecting to wireless internet network if I also had bluetooth turned on for my wireless speakers). Wouldn't stay connected for more than 20 minutes and I had to keep resetting or "forgetting" printer, then restarting the connection setup in the HP "not" Smart program/app. There's no standby mode for this printer, so you can't just print something from another room or when you're not at home/office (which is supposedly a new highlighted HP smart feature). You have to go to the printer every time to turn it back on and wait to see if it can find the wireless network. By end of 2nd day of trials, it just stopped printing from other devices altogether... it would make a "prepping" sound as if it received a document to be printed, but then never actually printed. Start of 3rd day, it wouldn't even copy what was already on the scanning bed. Packed it up and took it back. Paid too much money for this to be such a big headache.

HP says warranty expired, prior to my purchase! It keeps locking up; have reset to factory defaults, reinstalled software etc. Never buying HP again. HP Smart Print software seems to conflict with regular printer... there are two installed, even after removing all drivers, and reinstalling.

All I can say is that I hope I don’t have to give it any stars. I had this printer for two years. Only used it less than ten times. Never liked the quality of the prints, and mostly used it when printing out the test page to see if I could get a better print. I thought I’d try it again, and now it says I’m out off paper. Well I’m not,and have been trying everything I can to get it to work for two days. The warranty is up, and now you have to pay HP for answers. No thank you. I will never use Hp for a printer again.

I've hated this thing since the day I bought it and wish I had returned it. First, this printer is ridiculously complicated to set up and use. The setup process kept failing. The required HP software is buggy. You can't use the printer software without being logged into an HP account. You cannot scan documents without being logged into an HP account. The HP software keeps thinking the printer is offline when it isn't. The buttons and screen on the printer are pretty much worthless. Everything has to be done through the PC or mobile app. My printer is not dispensing magenta ink. I don't know why. There are no errors. I tried using the HP software to clean the printhead. It keeps displaying an error that there is a print job in progress. I reset the printer to factory defaults. Same thing. Because the printer is "smart" and there are no printhead errors the only way to access the printhead to check it was to unplug the printer while it is doing its startup checks. I have magenta ink sitting on the printhead yet it is not printing.

      Hi, Austin.

I’m sorry you’ve had such a dreadful time with your printer. Your exasperation comes as no surprise, considering you’ve endured a troubling setup process, software difficulty and the inability to print magenta ink. I want to help you out of this dilemma. I hope the resources I’ve listed below guide you to that end.

I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

I bought this with high expectations and it turned out to be a horrible purchase and I returned it. First, it wouldn't set up and connect to wifi with any of 3 iphones and ipads that I tried. I have great wireless coverage in my office and I have no less than 15 other wifi devices here with no issues -- but this printer would not connect. I added another wifi access point and finally managed to get it connected using a windows laptop. I thought I was in the clear now -- but this device goes to sleep after a few minutes and won't respond. Pull up the HP Smart app on my phone, the printer status is offline. Press various buttons on the control panel, no response. I had to turn it on and off to get it to come back online just so I could print, and then it would go back to sleep mode and not wake up. This was a nightmare purchase so I returned it. I went with the epson tank printer and it has been a dream in comparison.

      Hi, Steve.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve encountered such difficulty with your printer. I can easily understand why a difficult setup process, contradictory paper-jam error messages and firmware problem would add up to dreadful start to ownership. I want to help you remedy what you can and get the most from the device going forward, so I hope the resources below will guide you to that end.

Regarding paper jam messages, as you’ve unfortunately discovered, sometimes these can be real or false, meaning the printer can report an error when there is no jammed paper. I recommend referencing the steps in this document to troubleshoot real as well as false paper jams:

For more help solving problems, or to learn more about your printer and all its features, you can find user manuals, how-to documents, troubleshooting guides and software updates on our support site here:

If you need further assistance, we're here for support. Please contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can guide you through the proper troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

The printer was printing blank pages after 10 days. I tried changing the font colors of a document because i was thinking that the black printhead was the only one affected or clogged, but it still prints blank pages. I tried deep cleaning it 4 times but it did not do anything. Returned the item while it was still in the 14 day return time frame and bought anlaser printer on sale. Took me 2 hours to install it on a mac bec it wont pair with my wifi

Horrible printer. I need to change my internet password and there’s no way to do it. Seems like something that should be easily done but no. Everything is done through an app which is not user friendly and of course there’s no way to get a live person on the phone for help. They tried to do too much with attaching this to an app. I left Epson for this upgrade and regret doing so.

This printer worked well for about 4 months. One day it decided to stop printing and gave a paper size mismatch error. Our printer had 8.5x11 paper loaded, but detected it as 4x6 paper and would only print a 4x6 area of the 8.5x11 paper. While it seems like a nice feature to automatically detect paper size, I wish that I could just set it manually so my printer still worked.

You have to register for an account with HP to print, scan, fax, etc. with the app that is shoveled at you on every other page of the manual because apparently paying exorbitant amounts of money for printers with planned obsolescence and overpriced ink isn't enough.

We are Epson users but they only had this in stock so we thought we’d try it out, took us 3 days to try to set it up and HP support was the worst. We are now about to return it, if you are planning on buying it will probably be a good product as the ink is really cool but our experience was really bad.
