HP delivered, best buy did not

Laptop itself, as in what the hp specter has to offer is incredible and versatile but best buy sold me a laptop that they claimed was in excellent condition and it was (by their own definition fair condition) they made no attempts to make it right other than refund me, which of course they want that, theyd make 600 off reselling this one and id be charged 900 more to buy a new one. Refusing to honor your own sales price at the time of purchase when it was your companies wrong doing to begin with is low. Unfortunately best buy has lost myself and my family and friends as customers one by one... the pictures are fresh out of the box delivered and the box wasnt dented or anything so this was shipped to me damaged like this.

    Terrible thermal issues. Huge downgrade

I have had so many issues with this laptop. On paper, this is an amazing machine that will do anything from web searching to gaming. In practice, I can't use it for anything but basic web browsing. The screen is amazing and the 120hz is nice, but the brightness does not go low enough to comfortably use it in a dark room and the 120hz can't be used in most applications because of this next huge issue. The CPU instantly overheats when you give it any load over 50% usage, then throttles down to a snail's pace for a minute or two. It then goes back to full boost mode. When using this CPU for anything, I get framerate drops down to 7 fps, then they shoot back up to 230 fps. I have a warranty plan through best buy and had them look at the laptop for thermal problems, but they took it for a week and gave it back with the same problems. I have reached out to HP support twice and have received no solutions from them either. Everyone I have talked to on support calls says that this laptop is not designed for games, but it has a RTX 4050 that I cannot utilize with any program because all graphics intensive programs require high CPU clock speed. The last issue I have had is that the keyboard and trackpad get confused and disable themselves like the laptop is in tablet mode randomly, and the only way to fix it is to put the laptop to sleep and wake it up again. This is such a downgrade from the HP Spectre 15t that this machine replaced, and that machine is 6 years old already. HP really doesn't make high end laptops like they used to.

Let me preface this with knowledge that I've been a Microsoft Surface user for years. I mainly purchased this because it had all the specs on paper that I was looking for and I wanted to try a larger screen. That being said. I also wanted to have enough power to handle some gaming and since this had a dedicated GPU I figured that would help. I was completely mistaken. The first one I got seemed to run fine at first with daily tasks but ran a bit hot and fan got loud compared to the surface pro's I've used in the past. Then I tried to run a game, solitaire, and even that had some jitters dragging cards across the screen. Next I tried Disney speedstorm and game that shouldn't be that instensive. I was lucky if I got 15 frames per second. I though OK maybe it's just that game. So I installed Forza 4 an older AAA game and that couldn't get to 10 frames per second. So something was wrong. The specs and price of this laptop didn't warrant this terrible of performance. I contacted HP support they took control of the laptop and proceded to do a bunch of updates from Microsoft, HP and NVIDIA. Still no difference. They proceded to have me a do factory reset. That took a full day. Still no difference. The support rep proceeded to tell me to send it in for maintence. It was only a week old. I decided to live with it for a while and see if things worked themselves out and still no difference. I ended up exchanging it at Best Buy rather than wait a month for HP to fix the broken laptop they sold me. The new laptop came did the setup and things seemed to be working OK. I started solitaire and it didn't stutter. Speed Storm had about 30 frames per second start out bu then 30 seconds into a race and it start dropping frames like crazy. It was like something triggered some kind of throttling. I checked performance settings and changed it to performance mode and that seemed to work better, but it only lasted for a little while. I was able to do a full race with no issues, but the next race the frame rates dropped again. For the amount of money I paid for this thing it wasn't worth the hassle. I finally gave up and returned it. I ended up getting the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2 in 1 instead with the Intel Arc and have had no issues playing these games. I don't know what HP did to this laptop to make it so unusable. The specs on paper should beat out the Lenovo, but it doesn't. Stear clear of this waste of money.

I ended up returning it. I wanted to like it, because it’s overall a very powerful and nice looking laptop, but it had issues right out of the box. It kept randomly locking up and shutting off. HP support was completely unhelpful and just told me to install some optional updates that did nothing to fix it. Apparently this is a known problem with this model and I found lots of other people online complaining about the same issue and having no solution for it. A brand new laptop, especially one THIS expensive, shouldn’t be broken right out of the box!!! Unacceptable.

    Does not run games!

"Offers gameplay at max settings" Copied and pasted that right from the description of the laptop. I tried to play Tekken 8, but I can barely play it under the lowest of settings. DOA 6 won't even run, and that's a six year old game. Hell Divers 2 also won't run properly no matter how much I tweak the settings. My $400 Steamdeck does a better job of running these games. Tekken will run fine for about two minutes, then everything turns to ultra slow motion. Same for DOA 6 and Hell Divers 2. I checked my laptop's power settings, and they're all set to "Game Mode". Tried troubleshooting for days, but nothing will make any game run properly. And if you're wondering why I purchased this laptop instead of a game specific laptop, it's because I do a lot of visual effects work, so the display and touch screen are nice, and I figured the "Offers gameplay at max settings" statement would be relatively accurate. I guess they didn't mention which games.

This was a terrible laptop. I ended up returning it within 9 days to exchange for another. It was locking up, freezing, system crashing. This exchanged one out of the box has the same issues. I’ll be returning this as well for another. Also had a very hard time exchanging- the customer service guy sent me to geek squad to fix, when I don’t want this junk. Geek Squad rep was awesome and helped me exchange it.

I would give it a zero if that were possible. Ordered this computer for my soon to be college student. Upon initial startup we were greeted by a blue screen DOS message that the cooling fan was not functioning. Great quality control HP. Excuse me as I now must take this back.

Although the laptop was equipped with a video card it was unable to be used for gaming as the unit was ill equipped to cool itself. This system over heated and shutdown during game play. Was returned and replaced with a much better ASUS ROG laptop.

I bought a laptop at Bestbuy store nearly 2 weeks ago. They promised to deliver it on time for Christmas but it still hasn't been delivered. I tried contacting Bestbuy and they said it wasn't their responsibility but UPS's. I tried to contact UPS they still haven't scheduled a delivery date yet! Such a scam!

I bought this HP laptop on September 26, and it has already stopped working. It abruptly shut down and now emits a continuous noise. On several occasions before this issue, the cursor would disappear for a few minutes and then reappear. Considering the amount of money I spent, I’m very disappointed.

5 star for the first 6 weeks of use. The screen cracked at the hinge point when opening to tablet mode. Amazing. The 1 star is due to customer service handing this as accidental damage, instead of product defect. What the heck.

    Terrible Laptop, Shop Apple Instead

I've had this laptop for over a year now, and the touchpad no longer works. Thankfully the laptop is touchscreen, so I use my finger. HP only offers a one-year warranty so any technical issues customers face they have to pay for a tech support plan. I do not recommend this laptop or any HP laptops at all. In addition to the failed touchpad, the stylus pen that the laptop came with immediately broke after I tried to charge the pen. HP sells defective products so customers have no choice but to pay their ridiculous tech support plan or buy a new product. I recommend Apple products instead. I am very disappointed, needless to say frustrated, with HP.
