Laptop Deck Gets Way Hot, 125 Degrees in my Case

This is a beautiful and very powerful computer. But, there is a flaw, that does not seem unique to my purchase. HEAT! Running the computer between 50%-75% processor power, creates tremendous heat. In my case: 1. Processors were at 109-212 degrees.... The MAX design limit is 212. 2. The laptop deck reached an astounding 128 degrees, measured with a infrared thermometer 3. The keys themselves reached 119 degrees 4. The track pad was approximately 95 degrees A $1,500 computer should efficient cooling and a 128 degree deck indicates inefficiency or broken equipment. The Spectre 13's heat issue, is widely reported on the Internet. I should have checked first.

Even though I have everything turned off relating to sleep mode. It still goes to sleep and is impossible to wake back up. The computer its self you can see is on the keyboard, lights etc, but not the screen it stays black. Have to hold down power button till it manually restarts computer. Which is not good. Also when I do updates that require a restart the same thing happens. Took it to geek squad and they say nothing is wrong with it. After having it week. I've only had this laptop a little over a month. Hardly even used it. Just bummed at all the money I wasted and the issues I'm having already.

Great package and value for an ultrabook

I was looking to replace my older Surface Book. I looked at this HP Spectre 360 and the new Surface Book 2. The x360 is a really nifty, lightweight package and for the same $$$ vs. the Surface Book 2 you get the latest i7 and 512GB SSD. The only thing I miss from the Surface Book is the 14” vs. 13” display. That extra inch of desktop area is noticeable to me. I’ve only had this ultrabook for a couple weeks but it’s been working flawlessly. I don’t notice the fan noise reported in the other review. USB-C power gives you flexibilty with various, smaller power adapters. The included 65W power brick is pretty small relative to other full-power chargers (e.g., Apple MacBook Pro) but the USB-C cable and 110V power cord are both a bit hefty. I keep my x360 on the kitchen island so I prefer to use a smaller, flat power adapter that is only 45W but sufficient for my stationary needs and further reduces the cabling clutter to a minimum. The x360 still has a USB-A port for easy backwards compatibility and not requiring an extra dongle for those times when you need to plugin an older device. The 4K screen is a bit overkill for a 13” laptop and I run the Windows display setting at 225%. That makes the fonts and images pretty readable and the 4K display is incredible sharp. The HP pen is pretty useless to me and I have no where to keep it handle. However, the Surface Book pen had/has the same issue so it’s not an HP nit.

This computer is really nice to use, with a sensitive touchscreen and satisfying keyboard. The sound and display are both great, and it works fast, with plenty of memory and storage. Also, it's very pretty (although the blue smudges with fingerprints), and light enough to carry around.

The HP Spectre x360 looks beautiful, runs like a gem, and makes being a college student very easy. What are the pros? The 13.3 in screen enables this laptop to fit into small places and it still delivers the same great power. Additionally, the 4k screen looks beautiful and can range from dim to very bright. The i7 8th gen processor fast speed and reaction time. The 360 screen is sturdy and does not feel like it will snap or pull of as you rotate it around. On the same note, the tablet mode is handy for writing with the stylus and reading papers. It is a little large/awkward but not enough to be a con. The battery life is easy to prolong if you are okay sacrificing screen brightness. The keyboard has a slightly different layout but it is very easy to get used to. Keyboards are all up to personal preference, and I like to know that I pressed the key, so having a slight resistance when pressing feel great! Thunderbolt ports! Nothing else to say! What are the Cons? The spectre is equipped with a weak GPU, which will make graphic intense videos and games run slower and uglier. I am going to pair my spectre with an eGPU in order to combat this, but that in itself is another investment. In my experience, it can run a lot of games at the lowest graphics but it does not always run smoothly either. Being an ultraportable laptop, the fans on the spectre kick in when you do anything intensive and they are not necessarily the quietest. However, I find they do not both me so long as the room isn't silent because they begin to blend with the ambient sound around you. There is also different modes on the laptop that allow you to select "quiet," "comfort," "performance," and "recommended." Each with different performance and fan caps. The touch screen can get a little smudgy, and the back of the laptop will show oily fingerprints as well. Easy to clean, but a nuisance to keep perfect. Every once in awhile the Bang & Olufsen speakers begin to crackle during audio. With a little fidgeting in the setting this can be fixed by disabling certain sound enhancements. The audio still sounds great without these. Overall, I would definitely recommend this laptop to my friends as long as they are willing to cash out a little extra. Gamers will definitely want to look at a different option or pair this with an eGPU. The spectre is fast, looks and feels great, and is good quality.

Overall I have had a chance to work with this machine for about a week so far. I am quite impressed. It will not take long at all getting all your programs, files and accounts up and running. This thing is stupid fast! The perfect laptop for a multitude of professionals that are on the go! Performance: This is the best ultrabook/2 in 1 laptop I have ever utilized! The i7 processor and 16gb of ram have been able to handle even the most complex of assignments I can throw at it. I code extensively in acrobat applications and the software runs great when I am debugging. I have found the SSD and Intel Optane a huge boon for quick startups and immediately getting to work. Simply amazing. This thing boots FAST! From pressing power to login I can be up in running in 30 seconds or less!! Craftsmanship and 2 in 1 use: Truly a piece of craftsmanship. It is extremely light, but has an all metal design, by no means does it feel cheap. The 2 in 1 capability is versatile. I already utilize this in all its glory: from regular laptop use, to videos, tent mode for presentations, and tablet mode. This device really is a great and powerful all arounder. Battery: This is a solid performer even with a 4k screen. When setting the battery performance to best preserve the battery while on the go I can easily go through an entire day of work and then some. Overall with out battery preferences changes, I still get around 6 or 7 hours of continuous performance blasting spotify, streaming videos, and programming acrobat reader forms. Minimum Recommendations: Strongly recommend minimum of 512gb SSD or more for local storage peeps! 256 gb model would have not met my needs for as I have lots of programs and files. Overall: Despite the cost, well worth the investment. Keep an eye out on deals!

Disclaimer* I returned the laptop because of a defective touchscreen that would receive inputs to the top left section of the laptop. Had this not been an issue I would have kept it. Assuming that isn't an issue, this is a very good laptop, espically at the price I got them at $1200 before tax. Pros: Good build quality Specs Keyboard Design Thunderbolt 3 Convertible with Touch screen Pen included Cons: 4k (drain the battery quicker, while details are hard to notice on a 13inch) Synaptics touchpad Wobbly hinge Big bottom and top bezel If you don't care about most of these cons, this is honestly a good laptop, and if you can get this at 1080 I would argue it's even better as there is more battery at a smaller cost. TLDR: It's good, mine was defective but if it wasn't I woulda kept it as it had more relevant pros than cons

Great computer! It is amazing how far notebook sized laptops have come. With this model you don’t have to sacrifice anything but the cd/rom and it also has integrated sound and graphics card. Besides that this is a beast. It is up to the task for everything but hardcore gaming. My daughter was starting her junior year and also starting to prep for med school. She loves this computer for how light it is for the long walks across campus and how easy it is to take notes with the touch screen. This is truly a ultra light and portable desktop. Especially once you get a usb-c hub to connect anything and everything you might want.

This laptop is perfect for my needs as a college student. Extremely lightweight, yet still substantial keyboard for typing. The keyboard layout is very comfortable and easy to use. Love the touchscreen feature, it is quite convenient and makes surfing the web a breeze. The 13 in screen is plenty big enough to watch videos on. 4k is so cool, probably more than I need since I don't do video editing, but it's still awesome. Great colors and clear display. Only one standard USB drive port. But there's also the two thunderbolt ports to which you could connect adaptors if you wanted to plug in more than one USB at once. So far the one port has been fine for me. This laptop seems to have a long battery life, one charge and it's fine for several hours. I use this for school assignments, and I am happy with the keyboard layout and ergonomics for typing up assignments. The screen is big enough that you can work on it without straining your eyes. High speed browsing when you've got a good Wifi connection, and I can open multiple tabs on Chrome and go back and forth without issues. Great for multi-tasking! Overall, excellent buy. It's well worth the money and you won't regret it.

I am very happy with the choice. I didn't want a Mac but a top end PC as I am a doctoral student and I need a powerful machine to do analysis and programming. The 2 in 1 functionality is very helpful. It is lightweight and easy to carry around - which is a plus. Overall, the look is classy and keeps me motivated.

Bought for lightness make it easier to travel and carry. Also bought for flexibility to use as a tablet but rarely used for this purpose. Performing well after more than half a year of use. Purchased on sale. Be sure to let the updates cycle through and complete - could take a while - before installing software and transferring files. Be patient.

I would have to say, this laptop is a pretty good laptop. Just like others it has it's flaws. But if you are looking for a fast laptop while you are on the go then this is it. I've been able to use Office on this laptop while bouncing around to various locations, not powering it off, but just closing the lid. The battery power consumption is amazing on this laptop, seems like it could run for days before a charge. It really doesn't have many down sides to it other than you cannot upgrade the memory, and the USB C charger power port did fail on me and it ended up costing me over 400 bucks to send it back to HP to get it repaired. Warning, this is thin and light, buy a WARRANTY.
