Takes a while to assemble but overall it’s a very nice filing cabinet that matches our office design perfectly!

I was not expecting this file cabinet to be so nice. I only gave it four stars because it was really a pain to put together. A lot of the instructions were clear, some of the instructions were very confusing. It took hours to put it together. As far as functionability so far it has held up with the folders I have put in.

Love the style of this cabinet and the size it’s well worth it. Very spacious and appealing.

I am always weary of purchasing furniture online. Will the color match? Is it sturdy? Are the instructions wonky? This cabinet is absolutely beautiful and exceeded all of my expectations! I’m so happy I purchased this and it’s a perfect match to my home office.

This file cabinet is exceptionally good quality and well-made, even the packaging ensured the product arrived safe and undamaged. The wooden pieces are thick and solid, all the holes line up perfectly, and even the back panel is rather thick. Building it was a breeze and I was pleasantly surprised that they actually included spare parts. The assembly instructions were easy to understand and straightforward. One thing I absolutely love is the style of this cabinet, it is just what I was looking for and the size is perfect as I was looking to replace my old metal file cabinet that I had in a nook. The drawers themselves roll out smoothly and quietly. One thing to take note of is that they have a 1/4” clearance so any papers that stick out of file folders beyond that will get bent or prevent closure. There are two optional bars included that allow for file section according to file size and needs. I found this perfect to separate files with sections for organization purposes. A great design aspect to this cabinet is that it comes with safety mechanisms designed to allow only one drawer to open at a time, thus preventing it from tipping over. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this file cabinet and enjoy how it elevates the aesthetics of my office space.

After three hours of work building the cabinet, I placed the top on and noticed the damage to the top. It looks like it was dropped in warehouse and someone still placed the piece in the box for shipping. I contacted the manufacturer, hoping to get just a replacement part without success. Best Buy was no help. Customers are unable to speak with local stores. After spending my afternoon assembling the cabinet, I didn't want to just return it and then assemble the replacement, so I have chosen to buy some wood filler and make my own repairs. 160.00 and I need to make my own repairs.... Is this the future of consumerism?

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package on this cabinet and found that Insignia did not cheap out and use MDF for the entire build as is common at this price point. The sides and most of the plates have actual OBS in them. This is the same type of wood used to sheath a house to increase stability and keep wind out. Not a strong as plywood or solid wood, but then again this isn't in the 4 digit price range. As for the item itself, it's well designed and thought out. The railing hardware is pre-attached, so you're not trying to get those lined up just right. While the drawers do have thinner wood on the bottom, they're reinforced with two very solid wood bars in case you plan on storing anything besides hanging files in here. As for myself, I plan on using this is a bed side dresser. The height is right and it's very sturdy. Now for assembly, I would rate this a 4 out of 10 for difficulty. I've assembled many entertainment stands, desks, and what not over the years and this went together relatively easily, but there were a few parts that didn't go as planned due to poor diagrams and I had to take it apart twice. I'm including a few photos to help those avoid my blunders. For starters, you'll really want a Phillips #2 screw driver for this. That's the type that looks like someone ground the pointed tip down a bit. If you try with a pointed screw driver, you'll just end up stripping screws. Also, while this wood is tough, I would avoid a power screw driver. Some of the holes had just enough grip and I could have seen them stripping with mechanical force. For step 1, part 7, pay extra attention to how the front lip is attached. The screwed in pieces and the front lip should all be pointing up, leaving a flat top on the under side (the grooved edge). For step 4 which is assembling the two sides together, board 6 (top support) should have the KD cams facing towards the outside of the unit. You'll need to be able to access these to attach the top after the back plate is in. If you put the KD cams facing in, the back board will block access. The last tip is for assembling the drawers. I found it easiest to attached both underside support boards to the back piece, then place the liner in. From there, lining up the side pieces and front piece were much easier. All in all, this is a great little unit and I love the way it turned out. I think you will too, no matter what you use it for.

This Insignia 2-Drawer Filing Cabinet is a very nice piece of office furniture, especially since it comes flat-packed in a big box. It is very sturdy, looks good, and does a great job of holding file folders of multiple sizes in multiple orientations. Overall I am very pleased with the quality and functionality, and look forward to many years of use from this filing cabinet! ~Pros~ • The cabinet comes packed extremely well in a box that weighs 77 pounds according to the shipping company. Nothing in the package was damaged in any way • The pieces inside are much sturdier than most flat-packed furniture. The bottom and back are particularly sturdy, and I have no doubt this piece will last for many years. • The veneers on the cabinet are robust and make it look very nice • Assembly is fairly straightforward for experienced flat-pack furniture builders, and the cabinet operates as advertised. The drawers are very smooth in their tracks and I never feel like they're wobbly or flimsy. ~Cons~ • Quality construction means weight, and this unit is quite heavy. I would recommend two adults move it. I'm a big strong guy and I carried it halfway across my house from the living room to the office. It was fine, but a bit of a chore. • Even as an experienced builder, it took me about two hours to put together (with the help of a sometimes-eager 8-year-old). The instructions could be a tiny but clearer about the orientation of some of the pieces. during assembly; specifically, note that the top rear support needs to have the holes facing outwards before sliding the back into place. The pros listed above far outweigh the cons, and the cons themselves certainly aren't dealbreakers; more just some things to be aware of. I already loaded this thing up with contents that used to fit in two small filing end tables, as well as a bunch of office and computing supplies. I am very impressed with this cabinet and looking forward to many years of having by the side of my desk.

This 2 Drawer filing cabinet by Insignia is a solid piece of equipment that will last for years. This is a 2 drawer system that can accommodate 4 sections of letter size files (2 in each drawer) or 2 legal size (1 in each drawer) or however you like to set it up. The top of the cabinet can be used for your office equipment such as your printer or other office supplies. This filing cabinet does not look like your traditional filing cabinet but more like a piece of furniture that can easily fit anywhere in your home or in your office. The drawer system will require assembly and is not difficult to put together. I was able to assemble the cabinet in about an hour by myself. The cabinet has a safety feature built-in where it will only allow you to open one drawer at a time, reducing the risk of the cabinet tipping over, but to even further reduce that risk the cabinet can be anchored to the wall with the provided anchors and screws. I only had one gripe about the cabinets and that is the drawers are not lockable. For me it was not a big deal since I will be using this for my home office but for others this might be something to consider. Overall, this is one solid and sturdy filing cabinet that will look beautiful in the home or even in the office for years to come.

The reason why I bought this, was solely for the color… it matched with my coffee bar that I have at my home office. Once I got it, following the instructions to put it all together was a breeze. I have zero to no patience but this was really not hard at all… or maybe I felt creative? Ha ha, anywho IT IS A BEAUTIFUL filing cabinet. It is wider than I thought (I did not read into the measurements) the drawers and super spacious and slide in and out with ease. Very great product.

I purchased this file cabinet due to good reviews and received it yesterday, but I just opened the box and found out, missing hardware of J-Plastic drawer face bracket (4 pieces) and V-4x22 mm screw (28 pieces). Insignia said they don't have availability of these hardware and gave me option either to return the item (there is no way I can return this due to almost 80 pounds with 69year old woman) or request missing hardware escalated. The fact I don't appreciate is, they sent it out knowing, they have no availability of the missing hardware. The escalation department will either call or email me to let me know when they will be sending out the missing hardware in 4 days. At least all the parts are not damaged. They should at least as a courtesy let the customers know that they have no availability of the hardware instead of waiting for the customer to call.

I needed a larger cabinet for my office and this one perfectly matched my desk. It's heavier than I expected (I couldn't carry it by myself). And the directions were pretty straight-forward (there was only 1-2 steps that had inaccuracies). I was able to assemble it right the first time, and it looks and works perfect. A very nice sturdy cabinet that feels like it can hold a lot.

This is a very nice piece of furniture. It arrived quickly and without any issues. All of the pieces and hardware were in the box. The directions were mostly easy to follow, although there was one section that had me scratching my head for a while. I was able to assemble this by myself fairly quickly. It’s very sturdy and attractive, and I suspect it will last a long time. I’m pretty happy with this purchase!

Heavy and sturdy. It's a large piece of furniture. Assembly was time consuming and not easy for just one person. It is large enough for all of our files. The drawers can be configured in several different ways depending on your needs. Very happy with this product.

I love my new Insignia 2 Drawer Cabinet. I’m a crafter so everything I need fits, I’m surprised how deep the drawers go. Very sturdy and I love how it locks every time it closes.

I think this looks pretty good now that I have it together! There was quite a process to get it assembled, and it is much heavier than I expected. We warned that it is press board.

I bought this while it was on sale. Good deal for the price. The drawers are deep and have plenty of space. It's a good looking piece of furniture.
