I doubt that anyone would refer to a Garbage Disposal as being something exciting. The “excitement” occurs when your garbage disposal becomes inoperable, and you need to replace it! One of the things that I like about Insinkerator garbage disposals is that they are easy to install. If another Insinkerator disposal is being replaced, the installation is even easier as long as the sink flange still looks good and will not need to be changed out. Insinkerator also provides an In-Home Warranty which covers both parts and labor, so I never have to worry about removing the disposal and sending it for repair myself. The Badger 5XP is included in the Insinkerator Power Series, which is a step up from the Standard Series models. The Badger 5XP is a powerful ¾ HP disposal rather than being only 1/3 HP or ½ HP. The Badger 5XP is a continuous feed model and includes the pre-connected power cord. The Badger 5XP single-stage grinding chamber is constructed of galvanized steel components. For even superior longevity, Insinkerator disposals with stainless steel grinding chambers are available. The step-by-step, illustrated instructions in the Instruction Manual are clear and concise and make installation easy and straightforward. Most Insinkerator garbage disposals use the same mounting flange, and have the same mounting dimensions. This means that replacing an Insinkerator disposal with a new unit does not require any modifications or adjustments to any of the drain plumbing. Again, if the old unit’s mounting flange still has a good appearance in the sink, the flange and mounting ring beneath the sink do not require replacement. Replacement is as easy as disconnecting the discharge tube from the P-trap and disconnecting the dishwasher drain line from the disposal and disengaging the disposal body from the mounting ring tabs. Installation of the new Badger 5XP is simply reversing the process. If a dishwasher drain line is being connected, the drain plug in the disposal needs to be punched out before the unit is mounted. With the Insinkerator “Lift & Latch” Mounting System, the new disposal just requires being lifted into place, rotated clockwise and hung by the three mounting tabs. Turn the mounting ring clockwise using the included Insinkerator “Wrenchette” tool (which is also used for unjamming the disposal, if it is ever necessary) in order to latch the unit in place. Reconnecting the new discharge tube to the P-trap with no modification needed, and connecting the dishwasher drain completes the installation and the new disposal is ready to be plugged in and used. If you intend to install the new Sink Flange that is supplied with the disposal, you’ll need to remember to obtain some plumber’s putty for sealing the flange to the sink. The hardest part of installing the Sink Flange is removing and replacing the snap-ring that secures the flange. The Insinkerator Badger 5XP is not a sound-insulated unit, so I did not expect it to be especially quiet when running. However, its noise level is actually much lower than anticipated. My wife and I, and the neighbor who happened to be visiting when I test ran the disposer were very pleasantly surprised by how relatively quiet the Badger 5XP was when running. It is also not so large that it takes up excessive space under the sink. The Badger 5XP measures only about 6 3/8” wide, and it extends about 12 5/8” from the bottom of the sink to the bottom of the disposal. The compact design leaves plenty of room for all the “stuff” we tend to keep in the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink. The Badger 5XP appears to be very powerful with its ¾ HP motor. We know better than to overstuff or overload any garbage disposal, so in daily use, including feeding it batches of scraps, peels and the like, the Badger 5XP never seems to struggle or load down. The 4 Year In Home Service Warranty for both Parts and Labor is a nice plus! The Insinkerator Badger 5XP Garbage Disposal is a good unit with lots of power. The easy installation process and In-Home Warranty add to the reasons for liking Insinkerator disposals.

I wanted to update my garbage disposal for a new one that was powerful as well as quiet. The InSinkerator Badger 5XP is the one that I picked. It has ¾ horsepower so it is heavy duty and is plenty for my kitchen and I really like that it is quiet. The installation was easier than I thought, I thought since I had another brand before this one I had to do a lot of changes but I did not, I basically took the old one off and just replaced it with this one, and it comes with a tool to lock it into place. And I like how the instructions are very clear and they come with illustrations on how to do it step by step. I have an outlet for the garbage disposal but the instructions also include how to wire it directly. The size is great, it does not take much space to do a great job, I did connect my dishwasher to it and it is working flawlessly. The disposal also comes with a reset button at the bottom just in case you need to reset due to overload. It also comes with the stopper. Overall my family likes it and did notice the difference, it is quiet, works great and I like also that it easy to replace it. It is functioning great and if there is something wrong with it in the future I have 4 years of the manufacturer’s warranty to count on.

TL;DR: The Badger 5XP is a solid garbage disposal unit that perfectly balances power and quietness. The install was easy enough that someone with no experience can install it in less than an hour. I was surprised just how easy this garbage disposal was to install. With no experience, this install took me about 30-45 mins, and I'm sure it would be even faster if you had a plumber install it. Instructions are super clear and have many images so even an inexperienced idiot like me could install it. The power of the Badger 5XP is impressive considering just how quiet this thing is. They really striked a great balanced between power and noise. I would say this amount of power is more than enough for the average household. My previous household had a InSinkerator and I was more than happy with it. My new house had a very weak disposal and I was super excited to replace it with a brand I'm familiar with. I have easily grinded vegetables and other small items with no problem so far but im sure this could handle even bigger items like small bones.

I've been using this garbage disposal for about a week now and I haven't had any problems with it. It's powerful and has no trouble getting through breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was super easy to install because I already had an InSinkerator garbage disposal prior to this one so the mounting was the same. I just twisted off the old one and twisted on the new one. It literally took less than 10 seconds to hook up. If you have to install everything that comes in the package, the instructions are very clear and look very easy to follow. You still have to connect the plumbing to the actual garbage disposal so it takes a little longer for complete set up but it's still an easy task. Overall, this garbage disposal gets the job done and I'm hoping it could give me a few years before having to be replaced but if I do need to replace it, it's going to have to be an InSinkerator since the install is so quick and easy. This model is also a little bit quieter than my previous garbage disposal which I definitely appreciate!

Insinkerator Badger 5XP is replacing one of the older badger that was installed around 7 years when we moved into our new build home. We wanted to go with the same brand for its reliability and the easy of installation with its lift & latch connection to the existing plumbing. What’s Included: Disposal with power cord preinstalled, hardware (screws, snap ring, wrench, discharge tube, flange, bolts, gasket), stopper, sink flange, fiber gasket, backup flange, mounting ring). This garbage disposer is very identical to the previous gen Badger5 other than its compact size, great warranty of 4 years with in-home full service limited warranty covering parts and labor and the powerful motor. It’s made of galvanized steel construction with ¾ horsepower dura-drive induction motor that’s powerful for most household requirements. Due to its small footprint, there is more space to store other stuff under the kitchen cabinet. One of the advantages of this unit is the quick lock mount (3 bolt mounting system) provides easy installation and replacement with most previous incinerator models. You don’t need to change the flange or modify pipes and that means you can do it yourself in less time without having to call the handyman or plumber for installation and that will save installation costs. Also, other con getting this unit is it comes preinstalled with power cord unlike other units where you would end up getting power cord if you are connecting to the power adapter under the sink. This saves you few dollars and saves time on the install. When it comes to reliability this brand always tops and it doesn’t fail that easily or leak after years. With its top-of-the-line warranty its no brainer to get this unit compared to others on the market. The Badger 5XP is a trademarked InSinkErator ¾ HP garbage disposal with a 4-year in-home full service limited warranty that covers parts and labor. It is not the quietest model that Emerson makes, but when installed correctly, it is very quiet for a garbage disposal. The Badger 5XP is constructed of galvanized steel and designed with a single-phase motor that allows for continuous feed. It is approximately 12 5/8” in height, 6 and 5/16” wide and has a 26 oz. grind chamber. This model can either be purchased with or without the electrical cord attached. The model that I am reviewing (79326A-ISE) already has the electrical cord attached. It simply plugs into an outlet that is installed under my kitchen sink that is wired to a switch above the sink/counter. The disposal uses approximately 3-4 KWh Per Year and is estimated to use one (1) gallon of water per person in the household per day. It is fairly easy to install once the discharge tube, hose to the dishwasher, sink flange, mounting ring, backup flange, fiber gasket, etc. are installed. Because it then installs by lifting and twisting into place until all three notches on the lower mounting ring slip into place, its final installation is to lift it into place and lock it. If the disposal becomes overloaded for any reason, there is a reset switch on the bottom and if it becomes jammed from something that should not have entered the chamber, there is a tool that can be used with the unit unplugged to manually rotate the blades to dislodge and retrieve what has stopped the motor. It is important to read the warranty and all of the directions before use. Cold water should be run before turning the Badger 5XP on and removal of all bones, heavy vegetable sprouts like the stalks of broccoli, etc. should not enter the grinding chamber because it is designed to have one grinding stage. It does an excellent job if large chicken bones, hot water, large amounts of stalky vegetables, etc. are not put into the grinding chamber and forced to be ground. InSinkErator and Emerson has built a name with Badger 5 XP, and these are built to last. They usually last a lot longer than they are warranted for if care is taken to follow the use directions. I would absolutely recommend nothing else but this product to a friend.

Overall - Easy to install in most scenarios, the lift and latch setup for these is great ! It took about half an hour to replace a six year old badger with this new unit. We have fairly harsh water and disposals tend to last five to seven years before corrosion eats the grinder unless a full stainless steel unit is purchased. Once installed I tested this out with some old leftovers that were haunting the fridge. It's not too loud and does the job ! If you are planning on DIY'ing this to replace an existing unit here are a few tips - *** PUNCH OUT THE DRAIN PORT FOR THE DISHWASHER IF APPLICABLE !!! *** First - make sure you have plumbers putty / thread sealant on hand for the replacement lift and latch drain collar and possibly the disposal's outlet pipe. If your drain is into PVC, you may want to replace the crush gasket on the connector for the disposal's outflow pipe. Those are generally re-usable provided no one named THOR has tightened it in the past. Second- unplug your old unit and check that power is off. No one likes to get electrocuted. If applicable disconnect your dishwasher drain line - zip tie it up high if there is any water held in it. Third - Remove your old unit - watch out, it is heavy. If it failed and has food stuck in it, have a trash bag ready for the inevitable spillage. Fourth - Install collar then install the new unit, the disposal WILL turn on the collar to set the final orientation EVEN IF the latch has been fully locked in place. To achieve "Full lock" - use the provided disposer wrench in the loop on the collar to turn. Notably the drain collar bolts will "bottom out" to their specific tightness. Finally, Snug up the outflow line and attach the dishwasher drain if applicable. You DID punch the restiction ? Right ? Plug it in and check for leaks ! Things I love - PRE-INSTALLED CORD - Thank You ! Good installation instructions. Not so great / things to consider - "Galvanized Steel Grinding Components" = Shorter lifetime versus stainless if you have really harsh water.

Out of the box there's literally barely anything to this! They made the install process super simple. Taking minimal effort and only a few steps and this garbage disposal is up and running in no time! I initially thought there was going to be a hassle with installing the drain and lining everything up as well as how intense the attachment would be. But none of that, the main motor and housing simply connects and spins locking the drain hole into place with ease. The power cord is conveniently attached at the bottom. The hardest part which wasn't actually hard at all.. was fitting the side pipe to the kitchen drain and then wiring it up to the power switch. It's a nice setup and worked really well. From time to time I cut up vegetables for salads and now instead of putting the excess in the trash drawing those annoying fruit gnats that never seem to go away, this little God send will eliminate that headache all together! Because of the sheer simplicity of this and the install I'd definitely recommend it to others

Much more powerful than my previous one (same brand) so now I don't have to AVOID putting things into it! I'm super happy that I followed the advice of the Geek Squad amazing woman who happened to pick up my call! She gave me the best advice, pointed me to the exact right product AND got me set up with an appointment right away. Installation crew did a great job as well. Best Buy made me happy with this one!

Quiet and powerful garbage disposal. Had an InSinkErator in another home and it performed flawlessly, so I expect the same here. The Geek Squad installed it quickly with no problems.

This is an upgrade from my previous garbage disposal. It is not too loud. It goes through pretty much anything that is organic with ease. I have nothing negative to say about the product. It does its job.

My garbage disposal stopped working. I ordered a new Insinkerator with more power. It is very quiet when I use. The Best thing was going online to Best Buy, selecting what I wanted and then I was able schedule a delivery and installation.
