Gets The Job Done
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the Combo 10 Max gets the job done and is worth a shot, especially if you can get it on sale. Compared to my old J7+, the navigation and cleaning times are both much improved. Yes, there's random instances where it might take longer to find a room, but it has never gotten stuck to the point where it needed my help. It is by no means the most up-to-date in terms of technology, but it does a good job avoiding obstacles and the cleaning performance is great. Upon reading the reviews on here, there's quite a few people knocking this bot down for the appearance of it and the dock, but in my opinion, it's probably one of the best looking ones in terms of blending in with its surroundings. It's sleek, has a unique design around the sides of the dock, and the top of it can be used as a little table. Appearances aside, the dock works and is super convenient; however, I must say that since there's no heated air drying for the mop, I wish iRobot let you customize the drying time in the app. It was mentioned in a previous software update that they have increased the time, but unfortunately, it still doesn't seem to be long enough. That said, the robot still keeps the mop pad raised even after the fan shuts off, so the pad air dries on its own. Other major wins for this product come from iRobot's customer service and long-term product support. While I have only used the robot for a month and haven't needed to fix any part of it, I know that these are made to be easily repairable and iRobot has replacement parts readily available, along with demos on how to DIY. In terms of customer service, I did have to reach out to support regarding an issue with getting the robot connected to Apple HomeKit, and the support was top notch - it was easy to contact them, the agent was quick to respond, their replies were actually useful, and they were able to resolve the issue for me. Upon researching some other brands, I noticed that customers were not happy because they could not get ahold of customer service easily, and when they did, replacement accessories/parts were unavailable. All in all, it's a solid choice, I knocked off one star only because given the price point, I wish the mapping tech was better, but it still works.

Beta product released for consumer testing.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible product. App is bad. Programming is bad. Obstacle detection is terrible. It stumbles around like a blind drunken turtle. AND it's immensely unreliable. Second day, sensor on bin broke, contacted IRobot, they sent the wrong replacement part after two weeks, sent a replacement robot, after an hour on the phone with them (just asked for the correct part), second robots mop arm was faulty. DO. NOT. BUY. Thank you best buy for making the return process easy.

Research Before Purchasing
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this October 9th, 2024. Probably the biggest waste of money. Is only a good purchase if you have no kids, no pets, don’t wear shoes in the house, and have all hardwood floors with no area rugs. Mine is constantly getting clogged with dust and dirt. Do not let it mop and vacuum at the same time. Do not use if you live where it snows. If floors are wet and it vacuums it makes for a clogged mess inside the vacuum and dust bin and it will not empty properly. Make sure to empty the dirty water immediately. Wash the pad after each use or it will smell bad (it washes/dries itself but still smells). I have a $200 Roomba that vacuums aimlessly that works better. PICTURES ARE AFTER CLEANING - HAVE TO DO THIS 2/3 TIMES A WEEK AS IT GETS CLOGGED.

Worst Roomba yet
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: Vacuum works. CONS: mopping is three tiny streaks, if anything. No liquid is there. This is not approved for the Bona soaps, so if you want to use that idk. I haven’t tried it with the Bona yet, but I probably will because they claim it will leave to much liquid/suds. Im using the Roomba soap now and nothing is there. The robot is rattling like its about to fall apart. The dock has a corner loose where it wasn’t melded together properly. Its also getting confused and repeating the same pattern over and over and smacking into everything although i did a mapping run. For this price, low quality garbage without making sure that it can just do the basic functions with no improvement in their tech. Beware most of the reviews before mine, they received theirs for free for leaving detailed reviews.

Forget the Maid - Buy a iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love my iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot Vacuum and Mop. I purchased this for my husband for Christmas(wink-wink -for me really) (he's a clean freak) and we both love it. It does a great job of vacuuming and mopping our kitchen floor & breakfast room. I have named my iRobot "Hazel" and we love her.

Released too early — Not worth the money!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is very glitchy… We easily have 4 to 6 error messages a day that we have to work through and troubleshoot in order to even vacuum our floors. Definitely release this one way too early as they still have bugs to work out!

Missed the mark
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -vacuum and mop in 1 unit -mop is finding dirt I didn’t think was there -extra consumable parts included -dirt sensor appeared to see spots on wood floor and did multiple passes -obstacle sensor camera effective -able to review images/location of obstacles after cleaning run -finally have ‘careful drive’ option so Roomba doesn’t bounce off every surface Cons: -subpar mapping -dirt bin not emptying completely -fragile mop hinge assembly -long setup time if you need updates -app missing go home, dry pad options -mop not fully wet even set on ultra -areas missed on cleaning runs Full Review: Just a quick background. This isn’t our first robot vacuum. No kids in the house, but 1 pet, a rabbit. About 60% carpet on the main floor and 40% wood and tile floors. As others with rabbits as house pets would know, they are clean and litter box trainable, but they don't always have full control of the ‘coco-puffs’. So having a robot vacuum in the house helps keep them picked up. The Roomba Combo 10 Max showed up in a large heavy box. There was some damage on one corner but during the unboxing all contents were safe. During the setup, everything was pretty obvious and directions weren’t really needed. There were a few stickers and labels here and there to help along, like removing both water tanks and ensuring they are latched closed. The paper print manual included also had some setup notes. The best setup instructions were actually found later in the app after I had this all done and connected the app to the Max 10. You will find a couple extras included, 1 each, bag, filter, mop pad and side brush. I didn’t see any lines on the tank or anything in the manuals about how much to fill the fresh water tank. I guess use your best judgment and fill it as full as you can without spilling all over before you get the latched closed. When I got to setting up the app with the Max 10 I had some issues in connecting. This might have been because I still had my old I8+ sitting in the same area? In any case, after a few tries and rebooting everything I was finally able to get the app connected. Now that things are connected properly I get notices that updates are available. If your unit requires updates, set aside at least 45 minutes to get them completed. Mine required both Max 10 and Clean base updates which were around 20 minutes each. Finally I was able to send the 10 Max out on a mapping run even though I already had a good map from my previous Roomba. Anything dealing with mapping shows where iRobot lags behind the competition. I don't understand why they resist adding Lidar. Watching the Max 10 on a mapping run is painful compared to the competition with Lidar. I watched the Max 10 go back and forth multiple times to the same spot. And when all is said and done, the maps aren’t nearly as accurate. I have an area in a bedroom, a square corner, where the Max 10 continuously shows it as a cut off 45 deg angled corner. Even after multiple cleanings now, and sending the Max 10 out on 2 additional mapping runs, this corner is still messed up. There are no obstructions, the map shows a wall there, and the Max 10 won't even try to clean that area. See photo, there is a dresser angled in the corner in the top left, but the bottom left should be a square corner. My previous i8+ mapped this area properly. App updates seemed to have fixed my previous issues getting room dividers setup. With the map mostly setup, I was finally able to send the Max 10 out on its first cleaning mission. I choose to send it to the kitchen for a vac and mop with default settings. The first thing I noticed was the Max 10 was leaving 3 wet streaks behind it (this was with liquid amount set to balanced), see photo.. Later on I tested mopping with liquid set to Ultra and it still left 3 wet streaks (but with a smaller dry line between them). It was also noisy on the mopping run, sounded like the rubber wheels were slipping on the wet wood floor, or it could have been the rubber beater brushes underneath squeaking on the wet floor? After this first small mop run I emptied the waste water tank and was very surprised at how brown the water was. We keep the house pretty clean, so I'm not sure where the Max 10 found this dirt, but it did! During these first test cleaning runs I noticed the Max 10 spending a LOT of time sitting in one spot ‘thinking’? Moving to another spot nearby, doing more thinking, and back and forth turning vacuum on/off, deploying/retracting mop pad. In general it appears to me the Max 10 doesn’t know what to do and where it is. The logic and mapping just isn’t there to get the job done quickly and efficiently. When I sent the Max 10 out on a mopping run of just the kitchen which had a good map setup it took 4 minutes for it to go from the laundry to the kitchen (which is about 6 steps), because it kept going back and forth between the 2 rooms. When it finally started cleaning the kitchen it took 5 minutes just to clean about a 3x4’ area on a rug. It would wander back and forth turning suction on and off, again like it was lost, didn’t know what it was doing, where it was, or what it should be doing. My Lidar units never had these types of issues. I set up my first cleaning job schedule with basic settings, default, etc just to get a baseline for my cleaning. This first scheduled run started while I was at work. It didn’t take long and I got a message on the app saying the green rollers were stuck. When I got home, flipped the Max 10 over and checked the green rollers, they weren’t stuck but there were a couple ‘coco-puffs’ in the rollers. My second unattended job wasn’t much better. I received an error in the app, iirc something about the mop being stuck. I got home to find the Max 10 sitting in a spot and it looked like the mop pad/tray was broken off one side (see pic). I managed to find the small pin in the Max 10’s vacuum bin and was able to somewhat get this assembly back together, but I can’t tell if it’s broken or just loosely snapped together or what. In any case this hinge system seems very fragile and mine is now taped together after only a couple runs. My third unattended cleaning job was finally successfully completed. It cleaned 617 ft2 in 2:20 time without charge, impressive battery time. Some other notes. -It takes hours for the pad drying routine to finish, and you will hear the light hum of a fan, so you probably don't want to park the Clean Base unit where that might bother you. -After a successful cleaning run and the self empty routine had run on the Clean base. I removed the Max 10 debris bin and found a lot of ‘stuff’ still in there (see pic). There are coco-puffs from the rabbit, dirt, dust and fibers from an entry mat. This was never a problem with my i8+, that bin would be perfectly emptied every time. I even removed the access panel on the bottom of the clean base to make sure nothing was stuck in that self empty vacuum path. I suspect there is some type of air flow issue in the Max 10 debris bin during self empty where that debris just gets stuck in a corner or something. -I wasn’t able to find a ‘go home/return to base’ button or option in the app. Using voice assistant did work though. -I also can’t find a ‘dry mop’ routine in the app. Generally you maybe wouldn’t need this. But I interrupted the Max 10 while it was drying the mop and wanted to continue when I placed it back on the Clean base. The only way to this would be run the clean mop routine again. Conclusion Sorry iRobot but I think you missed the mark overall. In some ways this is a downgrade from my i8+. My next robot vac will not be a iRobot unless I see some major upgrades in mapping. I would only recommend this to friends if they were fully informed of the types of issues I have. 3 stars overall, average.

Solid/advanced 2-in-1 vacuum but only okay mopping
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our third Roomba vacuum...each one has been an incremental step up in capability and functionality. And as much as we appreciate the convenience, I had honestly shied away from iRobot’s REALLY premium offerings because the price tag started to get a little eye-watering. However, when the 10 Max rolled around with its auto dustbin emptying feature and an onboard mop as well, we just couldn’t pass this one up. And, as a robot vacuum, the results were every bit as impressive as our top performing Roomba s9 was—but as a mop...well...let’s just say it’s nice to have the flexibility, especially with automatic and autonomous changeover between vacuuming and mopping on the fly, but the mopping results themselves just aren’t quite as impressive. Let’s start with the good stuff. iRobot has always impressed us with its mapping ability. Once you log into the iRobot app and set up your Roomba on your home network, the robot will start with a “mapping run” that gets the basic layout of your house. The mapping routine is smart enough to recognize stairs and other hazards, and the object avoidance that is now onboard means that the Roomba won’t get totally hung up on a few missed items left on the floor (or a “gift” from your pet sitting on the carpet just waiting to be ground down into the fibers). You even have the option for the Roomba to take still images as it passes throughout the house so it can learn the terrain and more effectively recognize thresholds between rooms or new obstacles/furniture placement. The mapping run on our main floor took about 1.5 hours to get the outlines down...I was impressed without precise the floorplan reported in the map reflected the layout of our house, but the Roomba also continues to learn, expand, and refine the map with every new routine so things only get better from here. Interestingly, the mapping routine also correctly identified the various rooms on our main floor (hallways, entry way, kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, etc.) and even did a pretty remarkable job at estimating where the dividing lines between the rooms should be drawn given that we have a wide-open floorplan. Of course, you can edit the room names and boundaries, as well as specify "keep-out" areas, no mop areas, and even create additional “clean zones” inside of your rooms for a particularly troublesome bit of real estate that might need some attention in between larger cleaning jobs. Our main floor is a combination of large area rugs, tile flooring, and carpeting at the threshold of a bathroom and two other guest rooms. The carpet cleaning routines and results were simply wonderful...even on a medium setting, and the onboard dirt sensors really do a GREAT job of detecting additional debris on the floor or dirt in the carpet and refocusing attention to clean up that spot. We have several large anti-fatigue mats in our kitchen and the Max 10 did a great job of navigating around and over those mats. Battery life was impressive as well—it was nearly 3.5 hours before the Max 10 first returned to its base for a recharge before finishing the “Vacuum and mop everything” program. However, when the mopping feature took over, we were not so impressed. The “mop” itself is really nothing more than a crescent-shaped swatch of microfiber fabric affixed to an automatic arm that lowers the mop into place. Water or cleaning solution (we added some Mr. Clean to warm tap water for the first week) are pumped into the Roomba from the base station which is then soaked into the pad. Once mopping begins, the pad is basically just dragged behind the Roomba as it makes its way around your flooring. Now, it was impressive to see that when the Roomba sensed carpeting or obstacles nearby, it automatically lifted the mop arm up and switched to vacuuming and back again. We were initially impressed at the thoroughness and sophistication of the mopping program that ensured the floor was as clean as possible first before getting things wet. However, on the “balanced” setting, there were really just a few stripes of cleaning fluid trailing behind the Max 10...I had to select the “Ultra” setting for liquid amount and “smart scrub” for repeated passes over sticky splotches to get a uniform trail of cleaning liquid to cover the Max 10’s path across our tile floor. Even then, there were still several dried spills that remained behind requiring hand-cleaning. I could see someone regularly using the vacuum for cleaning—even a deep cleaning...but the mop just didn’t seem to have the same level of oomph and cleaning vigor that the vacuum did. Once the Max 10 guides itself back to the base (which is enormous, BTW—so keep that in mind when you’re figuring out when to place it in your home), all manner of automatic maintenance tasks are carried out...the status of which are handily specified in the reasonably user-friendly iRobot app. First, the dustbin is emptied with a rather dramatic WHOOSH of suction...it’s abrupt and frankly much louder than the Max 10 even on maximum suction setting. While the robot is quiet enough in operation that you could conceivably run a cleaning routine at bedtime, the loud pre-approach noise that the robot makes as it aligns itself to the ramp and the dustbin suction would be loud enough to wake just about anyone up. The robot also does a little dance under the entryway to clean the rollers and mop head automatically...awesome, I hate regularly pulling that kind of gunk out by hand. The Max 10’s water tank is emptied into the waste-water bin and the dock’s liquid tank refills the robot for the next job. The dock will even actively start drying the pad...and drying it...and drying it...and drying it. Now, unlike the dustbin emptying routine, the sound the dock makes during active drying isn’t all that loud or intrusive—figure something on the order of a desk or table fan—but it does go on for a good 2-3 hours. The point is that if you are somewhat sensitive to running appliance noises, there’s enough going on after a cleaning routine that you probably don’t want to locate the base station anywhere near your bedroom. There are a few other gotchas here that you should also be aware of going in, especially if this is your first robot vacuum and you decided to go big with all the bells and whistles. First, the automatic dustbin emptying really is a nice feature—with our other two units, we have to wait for the cleaning routine to finish or listen for the empty dustbin signal on the Roomba or from within the app on our phone, and then manually remove and empty the dustbin and return it to the vacuum. Here, just let the Max 10 park itself and the onboard dustbin is emptied into a small cloth vacuum bag. Unfortunately, “small” is the operative term here. The bag itself is generously sized given that all the debris the Roomba can capture and hold also must ride onboard something with the circumference of roughly a medium-sized pizza. But the vacuum bag is not reusable—there is no zipper or Velcro tab to open and empty the bag, so once it’s filled (noted in the app or by the icon on the base station), you have to replace it, much as you would a traditional upright’s vacuum bag. I thought maybe I could stretch things out a bit by dumping the debris into a trash can through the bag’s inlet hole—but the neck in the vacuum bag is both quite narrow and extends into the bag itself rather than out, so emptying its contents into a trashcan isn’t all that easy or neat (ask me how I know). The floor/carpet rollers and small corner brushes are also consumables, as is the air filter inside the vacuum itself as well as the cloth mop attachment. You do get a few spares in the box—one extra vacuum bag, one 3-armed corner brush, and one additional mop head (which I suppose you could switch out with a wet one if you wanted to let it air dry rather than bake in the Roomba dock for 2-3 hours)--but long-term use will exact a number of recurring expenses, more so than you might be used to, so you need to figure that into your pricing considerations as well. Overall, there really is a lot to appreciate here. The self-guiding, self-mapping, self-correcting, self-cleaning, self-emptying features really are incredible time-savers; I just wish mopping was pulled off with as much aplomb as the vacuuming. We figured the best use of the mopping feature (at least in our case) going forward would be less about thorough floor cleaning and more about floor maintenance after we started with a nice, clean floor that might require a bit more intervention and manual labor. In fairness, the Max 10 did a good job of getting us most of the way there, but it didn’t quite knock everything out of the park, which is a bit disappointing given the premium pricing. If you can live with the somewhat lackluster mopping performance as a tradeoff for not having to run separate machines at all, or even manually having to reconfigure the one you’ve got to switch between vacuuming and mopping, the Max 10 is a really solid, feature-laden, if not somewhat pricey, choice for a nearly total hands-off cleaning experience.

Amazing machine that does it all!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot + AutoWash Dock Summary: Amazing machine that does it all! Use: I have a four-story townhome. We have a corgi and a miniature schnauzer. It takes a lot of effort to keep the home clean. The dogs tracking dirt, grass, mulch, and all kind of other stuff. We have used many vacuums from large ball swivel types to several lightweight cordless, and also a few other robotic vacuums. The handheld ones are great for deep cleans and spot cleaning, but in order to keep the house the tidiest, we use robots to clean daily. We have chosen iRobot because their technology is great, innovative, and the ecosystem is vast. We deployed the Roomba 10 Max onto our main floor. It sees the most traffic and is where the doggies pen resides. The unit's built-in reservoirs for clean water and wastewater AND the vacuum emptying bin allow the MAX to keep working until the job is done without a need to fill or empty the robot's bin repeatedly. The unit is housed in a garage that protects the robot from being bumped off of the dock. I'm glad someone finally thought of this! We used a combination of a separate iRobot mop and Roomba to clean the main floor before getting the MAX. It was a pain having to change out and emptying bins out in between each and every use. We noticed that if we didn't tell it to continue scheduled cleanings even while "full" that the units would leave rolls of dog hair and other debris. With the MAX, the Roomba can empty in the middle of a job and return to it whenever it needs. The "garage" empty cycle is so effective that the Roomba can run dozens of times before having to replace the waste filter. The empty cycle can be pretty loud, but the time required is short and it is a small price to pay for the convenience. I just schedule cleanings for periods where the noise won't be a concern. Pros: * Capacity. The unit's "garage" reservoirs allow the Roomba to perform several full cleaning jobs without itself needing to be emptied. This makes operating the Roomba even easier than before. * Great Looks. The "garage" is pretty large, but it is also thoughtfully designed! It makes fantastic use of every cubic inch. * Performance. The MAX performs marvelously. The standard features of a side sweeper, double rollers, and spatial sensors work as great as they do on other models. Though it is the mapping and the mechanized mop that lowers and retracts takes this unit to another level. * Mechanized Mop! The mop attachment is much more convenient now. On other models, you have to remove the fabric attachment in between dry and wet runs (I own the iRobot Mop, as well). On the MAX, however, the mop moves down from the top of the unit while mopping and returns to its position when done. The unit even features a drying phase that will dry the mopping pad in between uses. While not exactly quiet, it isn't loud enough to be a bother - but it does take a LOOOOONG time to complete. You can turn this feature off if you want frequent (intra-daily) cleanings. * Setup. Setting up the unit is straight forward. Just download the app and scan the QR code on the label included in the packaging. I did try the proximity setup but found the QR code to be faster. Use the app to map your home and then configure rooms. The unit tries to identify rooms for you. But you can change the labels and demarcations as needed. You can configure schedules to run for all rooms, or specific ones. You can disable each schedule as needed, as well. * Mapping. The mapping functionality is superb. I've posted a picture of our main floor. The camera offers opportunities for you to train your Roomba by helping it identify which objects are permanent, or temporary obstructions. It does a pretty darned good job at identifying obstacles, too. Cons: * Clearance. This is barely a con, but it is worth noting: we have stained wooden trim for our banisters. The bases of the banisters are raised and also stained. The Roomba units run over them, and, over time, they wear at the stain and eventually expose the wood. We went in with stain pens, but if you have a similar setup, you may face a similar issue. I wish the bottom fronts of the unit had some kind of softer material that wouldn't scratch raised surfaces/trim. As far as robot vacuums are concerned, there is no doubt that iRobot are on the high end of the pricing spectrum. But I feel that if you're going to splurge on lifestyle convenience hardware, the Roomba family of vacuums should be one of the things you splurge on. They definitely earn their keep and because their ecosystem is so vast, finding accessories and consumables for them is quite easy. You absolutely get what you pay for.

Incredible next generation floor cleaning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have been using robot floor vacuums and mops in our house for the better part of a decade and rely on them to do the dirty work in between running an in-home business with heavy traffic as well as managing our little ones and their friends we commonly refer to as tornadoes. So much, in fact, that we have three robot vacuum and mop combo machines spread throughout separate areas of our house. Unfortunately, our oldest one has been on the fritz and we were in the market for an upgrade that could handle the amount of traffic our house gets on any given day. That’s when we came across the latest iRobot Roomba Combo 10 vacuum and mop with an AutoWash dock that appeared to meet all of our needs in the area we wanted it for which was the highest traffic area. Being that our last couple robot vacuum/mop combos were a couple years old, I was excited to see what the latest technology had to offer for our space that includes mostly hard floor as well as a large area rug. For comparison on our other robot models, to switch between vacuuming and moping, we would have to manually switch between parts for the robot to mop either the hardwood and tile or focus on just vacuuming and, honestly, it’s kind of a hassle to remember to switch them out as well as ensuring the mopping attachment still had liquid available in the small reservoir. With the new iRobot Roomba combo 10, all these issues are no more as there is no need to swap out parts or constantly fill up the cleaning solution reservoir and I will explain why. Setting up the vacuum/mop and auto-wash dock, which was relatively larger than the dock we were used to in our previous robots, was reasonably self-explanatory and the iRobot smartphone application walked me through the process step-by-step including making a few attachments to the robot and dock and filling up the large water reservoir in the dock used for mopping. After the robot and dock were synced with the app and did an update via Wi-Fi, the robot remained in the dock for a full charge in preparation for its initial proprietary mapping which automatically labels room types. The mapping process took about 30 minutes for the area we have the robot located. The robot uses several sensors to map out the walls, doors, chair and table legs, floor type, etc. It was recommended to ensure there was enough light in those areas using open windows and lights, however, the robot also has a built-in headlight on the front which helps with that as well. I was surprised at how much faster the Roomba was in comparison to our other robots and maneuvered efficiently between tight spaces, corners and walls including around chair and table legs which is sometimes a challenge for robots. The only issue we experienced was trying to roll over one of the highchair leg support rails where it would sometimes get stuck and I would have to manually pick it up to continue the job. One of the most impressive features I witnessed was the Roomba’s ability to transform from a vacuum to a mop when going between hard floors and rugs or carpets. The Roomba stops then transforms by moving the mopping pad from the top of the robot to the underneath using a lever style contraption. The Roomba will also ensure the mopping pad is wet before starting to mop so you don’t have one area that isn’t as clean as the rest of the floor. Enabling the SmartScrub option via the iRobot app ensures the areas slated for cleaning get a deeper clean by applying consistent pressure and scrubbing back-and-forth like you would by mopping manually. Using its built-in Dirt Detect technology, the camera on the front of the Roomba can recognize and pinpoint dirt in front of it and ensure it is cleaned properly by making repeated passes before moving on in its clean cycle. After vacuuming and mopping, the AutoWash dock empties the debris from vacuuming into the enclosed bag, washes and dries the mopping pad, empties the dirty water and fills the water reservoir in the robot in preparation for its next cleaning job. After a few cleans, the Roomba predicts what areas need to be cleaned more based on the debris it cleaned up and prioritize those areas in future cleaning. Using the smartphone application, I was able to set a cleaning schedule, customize rooms and areas, as well as tinker with many of the other features the Roomba has to offer. After using the new iRobot Roomba Combo 10 for several days, I was extremely impressed with all the new technology and ability to clean given the amount of traffic we have in our house and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a high-end robot that ensures the job is done right with few issues.

The iRobot with all the bells & whistles
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got my first iRobot Roomba two years ago. It was a game-changer to have this robot/vacuum/mop because of how much time it saved me. Living in a two-story house with a dog and a baby, I decided to get a second iRobot so I didn’t have to move the vacuum/dock up and down the stairs to keep the floors as clean as possible. I kept my eye on the subsequent models iRobot released waiting for just the right one. It wasn’t until I saw the features on the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot + AutoWash Dock that I knew my wait was finally over. The features that convinced me were: • 7 days of automatic solution refill is what makes this product stand out from other Roomba models. In the past, my robot would run out of liquid because I chose 2 passes and heavy liquid. I received notifications on the app, but I couldn’t get home to refill it, so the job didn’t get completed. It is great to schedule the cleaning of rooms while everyone is out of the house and not have to worry about running out of cleaning solution. I can refill the solution once a week as well as empty the dirty liquid receptacle. • 60 days of dirt self-emptying in the bin • More power-lifting suction and deeper scrubbing. This is an option to choose on app. I couldn’t believe how much stuff the robot pulled up from my rug in just one pass. • Auto pad washing and drying. The dock has a built-in self-cleaning cycle for the robot. The rest of the features are what I have grown to love and expect from my robot vacuum. There are: • An app to schedule sessions, monitor progress, receive notifications and alerts. • A combo unit that adapts to clean hard floors and low/medium-pile carpet. • The edge-sweeping brush to get particles in the corner and under cabinets or furniture. • Multi-tasking – vacuums and mops simultaneously. Yet it won’t mop the carpet. • SmartScrub – mops back & forth with consistent pressure to eliminate stubborn messes. • Have a puppy? The iRobot purposely avoids pet waste. • With the app, you can personalize your cleaning. You can group specific rooms, create quick favorites, and set your cleaning preferences: the amount of water/cleaner, how many passes. Similar to settings on your cell phone, you can enable a child/pet lock, modify the lights, and locate your unit by having it make a sound. You can set personalized schedules by room and even clean small areas within rooms. • The app will connect with multiple Roomba robots! Here are some tips I want to share with potential buyers: • Only certain cleaning solutions can safely be used with the robot. Look online for a list of compatible solutions to avoid voiding the warrantee. Don’t use bleach-based products. • While the set-up is very simple, watch official online videos for assistance. • It will take about 3 hours to charge up initially. It then takes about an hour for the initial mapping. At that time, it will not clean. The iRobot will accurately identify the carpeted vs hardwood floor areas. You can section off and label the rooms. • On the topic of mapping, I suggest mapping once a month, so the Roomba avoids objects that you permanently added to rooms. It will even notify you about hazards you may want to consider addressing (i.e., cords). • It has voice command and is compatible with Alexa/Google/Siri. • There is a Robot Health that tells you when you need to change the brushes and filter. As a matter of fact, you get some replacements in the box. • In the box, you get a QR code for directions, a quick start/safety guide, and the warranty information. I suggest you go online to download, (print), and read the owner’s guide. There is a lot of valuable information in there. • There is a dedicated support team you can reach for assistance. Yes, that means you can actually talk with a person! When I make a high price tag purchase, I spend considerable time researching the different models before making the final purchase and I encourage everyone to do the same. I feel very confident in saying that anyone purchasing the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot + AutoWash Dock would be very pleased with their decision.

Rrrooomba! Vac and Mop, all-in-one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been wishing for a robot mop device for some time now. My home's main living space has all tile floors, and the square footage is larger than it seems to clean. Both dry sweeping and wet mopping can be exhausting. So, while I already own an iRobot RoombaS vacuum, I was super excited to now get this "2-in-1" vacuum plus mop combo device. The initial setup procedure was familiar to me from my previous experience with my current iRobot vacuum. You will need to download the iRobot Home app to your mobile device in order to access the customization options and controls for operating your Roomba. Setup will take a while ... connecting the robot to your network, performing the necessary firmware update, along with letting the robot finish charging, before sending the Roomba off to do its initial sweep mapping of your home's desired cleaning area. I needed to look up and refer to the more detailed user manual online for further instructions, as this Roomba Combo 10 Max is a new model in the iRobot brand. Pay attention to what the Owner's Guide advises regarding using a compatible cleaning solution. This iRobot Roomba comes with replacement parts included - a reusable washable mopping pad, filter, brush, and dust bag. So when you need to switch them out that first time, you'll already have them on hand. The power cord is heavy duty, and and the handy cord minder on the back side of the dock station keeps it neat and tidy, off the floor, and out of the way. I was even able to place the Roomba docking station in the same spot where I'd had my other robot vacuum set up at. Needless-to-say, my tile floors get filthy! Between my two dogs, and the dust and dirt from outside that invariably finds its way inside the house, it can be a real chore to keep up with this routine task. Not so much anymore though. I really like that this Roomba can do both - vacuum and mop - at the same time. There's also the option to simply choose just vac or mop. With the app, you can "tell" the robot which areas to focus on or set it to spend time doing a more thorough cleaning. And with the mopping roller mechanism being in the middle underside of the Roomba, I don't have to worry about the mop accidentally squirting cupboards or other things around my home I'd not want to get wet. The upgraded features of this Roombo vacuum are definitely an improvement from my previous model iRobot vac. The Obstacle Detection feature is particularly cool (and useful) with how the robot vacuum knows to not mop the area rug in my living room, to avoid the dog beds and dog food bowls, my workout weights, etc. So I don't have to be as thorough about picking up and putting everything out of the way before letting the Roomba begin its cleaning circuit. Though I will admit that the all-important mapping procedure could still use some improvement. And the robot does often bump into furniture several times before finally moving on. The loudness level of this Roomba Combo vac and mop is on par with how my previous iRobot vacuum sounded as it was operating. It did get much louder once the robot returned to the docking station and went through the dirt disposal process. However, during the mop only operation, the robot made much less noise; including when it returned to the dock in order to clean and dry the mopping pad. As before, while the Roomba is doing its thing cleaning around my main living area, the sound of the robot really bothers my one dog (my other dog is deaf). He just never seemed to get used to my previous robot vacuum either. Of course, worth noting is the high price point of this Roomba Combo 10 Max. While being both a vacuum and a mop all-in-one, it's still a costly high-tech device, which could prove to be a prohibitive consideration. However, I can attest that iRobot is known for being one of the best brands for this type of technology, and for good reason. They are built to last and are consistently innovating to improve upon what works, as well as, what could be done better.

Great Combo Cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Roomba Combo 10 Max robot with an AutoWash dock is a remarkable product that is a great combo cleaner for mopping and vacuuming the floors. I had my first experience with the brand with a different combo cleaner and when I saw what this one had to offer, I was intrigued. I was impressed with the big AutoWash dock which holds the clean water bin, a dirty water bin, and a vacuum bag compartment. I really like the fact that via the iRobot app you can take advantage of many features with the new model to choose from 3 different modes: mop only, vacuum only, or mop and vacuum simultaneously. The new model had plenty of instructions included and references to use the iRobot app for step-by-step directions to get the combo up and running. The only items that had to be installed after arrival were the ramp for the AutoWash dock and the roller brush that is also a fundamental part of the internal cleaning process for the new model. The great part of the new dock is that it washes and dries the mop pad. It also refills the mopping tank, empties debris into the vacuum bag, and has its own self-cleaning cycle to keep everything running smoothly. I have used the new Roomba Combo 10 many times and it is still collecting data to set up its dirt detective feature which basically tracks the areas of your home that are usually in need of the most cleaning. It can prioritize the cleaning schedule for you once enough data has been collected in the application. I did notice that for the first couple of mapping runs that Roomba Combo 10 was able to identify the areas better as far as whether I had carpet or tile flooring in the map. It made it easier to set up my home map and identify the various rooms so it could know where it was ok to use the mopping feature. I am impressed with the technology in the new Combo and really like how clean my tile floors feel after it mops and cleans them. It has been a noticeable difference from the prior model but the fact that it can mop and vacuum without having to change out the bin on it is more convenient for me. I also like that it takes care of keeping the mop pad clean by washing and drying it so that I do not have to take care of it. This new iRobot Combo 10 Max robot has been a positive addition to keep my home clean and saving me time in the process. I am very happy with the improvements the company made with the new combo and that they provide great product support as well.

Improves on earlier models
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Roombas are my preferred robot vacuums. We had some earlier models and tried other brands which I did not like. The initial setup using the iRobot app is very well accomplished. Packaging is all recyclable and setting it up tool very little time. Because this is replacing an older model that I plan on using elsewhere, I was able to import the floor map, so got to use it right away. One of the things I like about Roombas is how it connects to Alexa (As well as Google Home) so I can tell it to "Mop the kitchen" or "Vacuum around the dinning room table", as well as several other integrations.. This model is currently the top of the line for Roombas, that includes a mop which can raise when not needed and the base station is capable of emptying the trash receptacle on the vacuum and store in a much larger dust bin. The charging station is also able to refill the vacuum with either water or cleaning solution and also wash and dry its mop, which is new for this model. Opening the front door on the base reveals a clean water/solution tank, a slightly smaller dirty water tank (for when cleaning the mop) and the trash bag. All is serviced through the front door so the top of the base station is intentionally flat so one can use the space to put things like plants or decorative items on it. Suction is quite good, and it auto adjusts the level depending on dirt detected. Mopping works by moistening the floor with water or cleaning solution, and then dragging the mop on the back of the vacuum. Note that the mop itself does not spin. The mop is made with bacteria resistant fabric. If the vacuum's internal trash container gets full or runs out of liquid, it can go back to its base to resupply and then continue where it left off. I did have an issue where the vacuum ran out of battery in a room which should've had an easy and short access back to its base, and because the mop was extended, had much trouble charging it again. This happened the first time I let it clean the whole floor, but so far it did not re-occur. Another time it got stuck with gym equipment on the floor, where it climbed into it and lost traction. Unlike old Roombas, all new models use cameras to navigate (learning 'landmarks' within the house) and detect trouble areas and other things on its way. The problem with this is that if the room is dark or even not well lit, it might not work as expected. This is meant to require little maintenance but the rollers do get a good amount of dirt on them, but have the good design of usually not getting tangled in hair. However the side brush gets quite a lot of hair tangled on it that has to be cleaned manually. Parts that are meant to be changed on a given schedule are the side brush, rollers, HEPA filter (on the vacuum, attached to its dust bin). As for supplies, the mop lasts for a long while, and also needs vacuum trash bags for its base. Cleaning solution can be either water or one of the recommended Bona floor cleaners that are pre-mixed and ready to use. When the vacuum returns to its base, it will empty its internal bin into the base, and it does this by using a very powerful and very loud vacuum within the base. This can be startling, although it's quieter than on previous models. If it needs to clean its mop, the noise level is not too bad, but then it will run a loud fan for several hours. Overall it's a great vacuum and it's room map I think is the best system. My main issue is that it doesn't work at night with the lights off.

Ultimate Robot Vacuum & Mop for Spotless Floors
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot Vacuum and Mop is 'la crème de la crème'. It sits at the top of the automated tools available today that are designed to maintain well swept & mopped floors. This is my 7th robotic vacuum & my 3rd robotic mop. The Roomba Combo 10 is a serious tool that effectively cleans the floors. It makes all prior models seem like toys. The robot weighs 11 pounds & measures 13.3"L X 13.3"W X 3.4"H. The 14.4 Volt Lithium Ion Battery life is 2 Hours. Included with the Combo are: - Mop Pad - Filter - Dirt Disposal Bag - Docking Station INITIAL SETUP: Remove the vacuum & the base from the fully recyclable cardboard shipping container, remove a couple pieces of tape that hold the vacuum securely during shipping. Choose a location, place the base & plug it in. Press the ramp onto the front of the base. Fill the clear container with either water or a floor cleaning liquid (I prefer the blue Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner). Install the iRobot app on your phone. Follow the instructions to connect to WiFi 2.4 Ghz. MAP YOUR HOUSE: Clear obstacles, such as wires, clutter, etc. from your floors. Open the app on your phone & select "Map it". The robot will go from room to room, discovering your house layout & will produce a whole house map. Next, identify the rooms with labels & move walls as necessary on the map for clarity. BUT HOW DOES IT CLEAN? In a word, AMAZING!! My wife walks barefoot throughout the house (we remove shoes in the house). She immediately noticed the hardwood floors felt smoother than ever after the robot had vacuumed! After it mopped & vacuumed, the floors had a beautiful sheen. You can start the cleaning process by Alexa, Google, or the app. It cleaned the areas I selected (about 80% of the 3200 square foot main floor) in 4 hours (it went back to the charging station after 2 hours & returned to finish). It pulled the dirt collected from the vacuum to the base massive dust collector with a cyclone blower. When finished, it cleaned the mop & air dried it! CONCLUSION: iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot Vacuum and Mop is a serious cleaning tool that has found its permanent home. Best cleaning tool we own!

Added a Robot to the family.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second robo vacuum. This robo vac comes in a box ready to go with very minimal physical adjustments to get started. There is very few written instructions to get started. Everything is online and can be found with a QR code. I struggled for a good while to get the robot to sync with the wifi. After watching alot of videos I found that this robo vac is not compatible with 5GHz wifi. I had to do research on how to downgrade my wifi to 2.4GHz to connect it. An electronic this advanced shouldnt be that hard to connect to wifi. Now about the robot itself, it cleans and mops like it's supposed to. It first wonders around the rooms to "map" out it's work area. The app adds more features like clean intensity, and even schedule work times. The home unit does all the hard work of refilling the robo unit with water and collecting dirty water and vacuumed dirt. It's very interesting to watch the robo vac work. You can hear the suction of the dirty water and vacuumed dirt. You even get to name your robo vac. This gives it a personal touch. Overall the robo vac does what it's intended to do once you go through the trouble of connecting it to Wi-Fi.

Superb cleaning and easy maintenance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned and used many robot vacuums over the years. iRobot seems to be the best working robots that I've used. The Combo 10 Max is replacing my Roomba i6 that I've had for a couple of years now. The i6 will likely be moved upstairs, as it's still a great vacuum. The 10 Max does so many things to improve on the previous experiences I've had with all robot vacuums. From ease of maintenance to the quality of cleaning that it does. - Setup - The initial setup of the 10 Max was pretty painless and straightforward. I would say the only thing that was difficult was the first initial steps. I wasn't quite sure where to start. I think the reason that it was slightly confusing at first was since I already owned an iRobot vacuum. If I didn't, I'm positive the setup process would have guided me better. In my case, when opening the box and scanning the QR code, it opened the iRobot app to get me started, but since I already had a robot setup in the app, I wasn't really walked through the process. I had to sort of figure out how to get the robot and dock setup before I was instructed on how to do so through the app. Again, this was not difficult, and there is a printed manual further in the box that helps get you started. Once I had the dock and robot on the dock, then began the process of adding the robot to the app, the app walked me through the rest of the process, and it was very easy to get up and running. The app will guide you through how to fill the water tank, install the ramp and cleaning roller and removing any stickers that were put in place for shipping purposes. - App - While some of this is technically part of the setup process, I the app itself is excellent. Coming from owning another iRobot product, the features and helpful tips in the app are useful and very welcome without ever feeling overwhelming. As part of the initial setup, you're asked to do a scan of your house for the robot to discover where it will be able to go, and what surfaces it will detect (flooring or carpet). I had a map with my previous robot, but I wanted to create a new one with the Max to see how it would do, and to make sure it was as accurate as possible. The mapping run did an excellent job of finding rooms and the different surface types, whether they be carpet, rugs or flooring. It also did a good job of attempting to name the rooms appropriately. Editing the map afterwards was easy too. Allowing you to more easily name and section off areas you don't want the robot to go to. This room naming is also useful for working with your preferred smart home setup. In my case, I use Google Home and being able to tell the Max to "clean the kitchen" if there is a spill or something is very easy to do, and very useful. The app is also useful for showing what the robot is doing at any given time. You can see what room it is currently in, if it's returning to the dock, charging, or drying the mop. - Cleaning - While all the vacuums I've owned have done a decent job of cleaning, they often would have trouble navigating my house. The previous iRobot that I had did the best job of never getting stuck. The 10 Max takes this even further. Along with the map and the smarts that iRobot has given the Max, the new camera on the front for further obstacle avoidance is a great addition. It will take pictures of obstacles during its cleaning run and ask you if they're temporary obstacles and lets you review any potential items that may hinder its ability to clean. It really helps to further improve the quality of the clean that the robot is able to do. Then, the probably headlining feature of the 10 Max is the mopping. It does an excellent job of mopping the floors and will even take extra time on a spot if it feels like it needs additional cleaning time. I also really like that the mop is stored on the top of the robot when it's not in use. This gives further confidence that it won't track any dirt or anything onto carpet from the mop head. The robot has done an excellent job cleaning our hard wood floors, tile, and carpet throughout our house. In fact, there hasn't been a single issue so far. It vacuums, mops where appropriate, empties the bin, cleans the mop head and does it all without any assistance from me. - The Dock - I thought I'd take a moment to talk about the dock itself too. It is a bit larger than you may expect, but it has a sleek design and looks nice. It has a nice cable management spot on the back, so you can wind up the cord to keep it butted up against the wall without any trouble. It has indicators for clean and dirty water levels, as well as the dust bin. It is easy to identify any maintenance you need to perform. There's a little leather pull strap that is used to open the door to remove the bins as necessary. A couple things of note though, when the vacuum is emptying itself in the bin, it can be fairly loud. It only takes a moment, but it's something to be mindful of. After mopping, the dock will dry the mop head. There will be a continuous humming noise coming from the dock for a while as it dries the mop. It's not overly loud, but if you're close to it, it may be something to be mindful of as well. - Pros - Excellent cleaning capabilities, very easy to maintain and use, great app and smart home features - Cons - The dock is a decent-sized footprint, mop drying takes some time and has an audible humming as it dries

Functional, But Frustrating
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[PROS] Thorough Learning Process: The initial setup with any robotic vacuum is to learn the surroundings. The Roomba Combo 10 Max did a good job at covering all of the areas and staying away from the barriers I purposely created for doorless rooms. Great Suction Power: As a vacuum, the Roomba gets the job done. There were several areas that contained tiny particles and dirt that were cleaned efficiently. Decent mopping ability: I tempered my expectations since this is not traditional mop or even a steam mop. It's been best for light to moderately light messes. Fresh stains are the easiest to the work with, but I have seen it at least loosen a few set it stains when using a solution. Convenient Design: I'm a fan of the compartments within the the base and how easily accessible different sections are. Refilling the tank, emptying bins, or cleaning different areas are simple tasks to do. Flexibility: Despite my setup experience, the app did give me a variety of control over how I cleaned. I'm able to do such things such as designate cleaning certain rooms along with utilizing commands through an assistant. [CONS] Poor Setup Experience with App: It took over an hour to get my Roomba connected to the iRobot app. As a 10+ yr IT professional, I did everything under the sun to troubleshoot the problem. I used different phones, reinstalled the app, changed Wi-Fi networks, re-docked the Roomba, and etc. During a few instances, it would recognize the Roomba, but would fail to complete the setup process when it came to the "verify" password stage during setup even though the password was correct. On one occasion, it would start moving and navigating on its own. I finally got it to connect during after another attempt of unplugging and re-plugging the base station power cable. I was hindered again once it came to the software update. I didn't want to use the product without the latest firmware so I opted to install it as soon as the it connected to the iRobot app. Sadly, this software seemed to have taken over an hour to install or at least stayed hung up for most it. [MIXED BAG] Auto Wash: The base station did a good job of removing debris, but the pad doesn't dry effectively. Although it's thin, air drying wasn't that effective. Intelligence Feature: The app is quick to inform me of actions I need to take. However, there's missing AI capabilities that I would have loved for it to have like identifying specific objects. Fortunately, it does have some features built in like dirt detection which works well in most cases. [CONCLUSION] When it's working, the Roomba 10 Combo Max is a fine piece of equipment. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it due to my experience and value received. The terrible setup process and app quirks overshadowed the good.

iRobot Playing Catchup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic robot vacuum if you are upgrading from another iRobot Roomba model. With the addition of the AutoWash dock, iRobot has finally caught up to the competition in some key areas. However, I wish I could say I was impressed with all of the features. When compared to what other brands are offering at or below this price point, iRobot still lags behind. That said, the Roomba Combo 10 Max performs well overall, and I believe most people would be highly satisfied with its features. The best feature of the Combo 10 Max, in my opinion, is its obstacle avoidance. Over the past six years, I've owned several robot vacuums, and it's clear that iRobot has put significant effort into this aspect. It’s the best I've encountered. The primary reason I rated it 4 stars is because I prioritize this feature above almost everything else. As a parent of three, I don’t always have time to pick up every toy, and even when I do, there’s always something left behind under the furniture. You could have the most advanced robot vacuum in the world, but if it constantly gets stuck on a book or a small toy, it's essentially useless to me. I've used the Combo 10 Max for a few weeks now, and it hasn't gotten stuck once or sucked up anything it shouldn't have. The mopping performance of the Combo 10 Max is also impressive. However, there’s room for improvement in its water management. It tends to oversaturate the mop pad, especially if you send it for a second mopping session after already cleaning another room. This could pose a long-term issue, as the vacuum tends to suck up that excess water, leading to more frequent cleanings of the rollers and bin. In fact, this is why I had to exchange my first unit. There was excess water pooling on the floor, but iRobot’s excellent customer service resolved the issue swiftly. They sent me a replacement unit within a few days, and the second one has been great so far. iRobot’s commitment to standing behind their products and going above and beyond for the customer is something you don’t see much of these days, and it gives me peace of mind. While the Combo 10 Max has many strong points, there are a few issues that could be deal breakers for some users. Firstly, the mop dryer built into the dock is incredibly loud. After the vacuum is emptied, the mop is washed, and the dryer kicks in. The noise is nearly as loud as the vacuum itself when it's on its lowest setting. If the Combo 10 Max is in a common area of your home, you will definitely notice it. I find myself turning the dryer off 90% of the time, which only worsens its water management issues. I can’t let it run for the recommended 3 hours to fully dry the mop pad because of the noise. This is the most disappointing feature of the Combo 10 Max. Secondly, the lack of LiDAR severely limits the robot’s ability to navigate efficiently, especially in low-light conditions. It often appears confused, cleaning the same areas multiple times, which increases the overall cleaning time, even for smaller rooms. I think iRobot should explore additional sensors to help with room positioning. Lastly, the bump sensor on the front is quite aggressive. It sometimes hits furniture harder than I'd like. You can adjust the sensitivity in the settings, but then the robot might avoid tighter spaces, potentially missing key areas like the space under a kitchen table. Despite these drawbacks, I would still recommend the Combo 10 Max, especially if you're looking to upgrade. Be prepared to adjust its settings to find what works best for your space. While iRobot still has room for improvement—such as adding heated drying, better sensors, or more robust app features—the obstacle avoidance, build quality, and exceptional customer service make the Combo 10 Max a standout flagship vacuum from iRobot.
