The camera on J7 is a game changer! Smartest roomb
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Roomba j7 is amazing. It's super smart and can dodge stuff like cables and even pet mess, which is a lifesaver. This is the first roomba that uses an actual camera for obstacles which is a game changer. When it’s done cleaning you can review pictures of obstacles and find things u lost under couch or bed. The smartphone app is easy to use. I can set cleaning schedules and tell it where not to go, all from my phone. Plus, I can just tell it to start cleaning using Alexa, which feels great. It does a good job at cleaning up everyday dust and hair. I run mine everyday and it’s amazing how it always finds dirt even though house looks spotless. If you have a huge house you might want to get the upgraded model j7+ model with a bigger battery. But honestly it’s not a problem since the j7 will dock itself if it needs a charge and resumes cleaning when it gets fully charged. Tip: this j7 model you have to empty out the trash manually from bin on the Roomba. If you have a pet or a big house, I would recommend the j7+ model because it empties the trash from robot into the bigger bin at the dock station. Super convenient since the bin on robot is usually full each time I run mine. Overall, it's a handy little robot that saves me a lot of time. A bit pricey, but worth it for the convenience

An amazing little sucker!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our last roomba sadly died after 5 years, and this model was our replacement. We have a 2,000 sqft tri-level home with carpet, hardwood, and vinyl flooring. We also have 2 large Rottweilers, a white pit bull, and a cat. This roomba outperforms it’s predecessor!!! The battery life is more than enough to vacuum our entire home on a single charge. It is a very powerful little machine and picks up a lot more dander and hair than expected. My only gripe with this model is that the debris tray is half the size of my old 7 series roomba. It’s not a major problem, it just has to be emptied more frequently. Which is not problem when you see what roomba picks up from under your bed The roomba app is also very fun to use, as your helping roomba learn the layout of your house and furniture. You can also control the roomba right from your phone. The built in camera in the front gives you the option to select if that item or person is a permanent or temporary obstacle.

My Roomba
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my irobot roomba with one exception. l wish when I dirt department gets full it would notify you. Instead it gets full and then leaves small piles of dog hair rolled up on my living room rug. Other than that m very happy with its performance.

Good overall robot
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall very nice vacuum. It does a decent job avoiding obstacles but seems to get itself stuck in places every couple of weeks. I have had mine for about a year now and it still runs well but seems to be getting louder.

Navigates a toddler home with ease
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cleans our house daily without getting hung up on things and almost always makes it back to the dock even if we don't clean up after our toddler. Its really impressive and much more capable than our previous 690 Roomba when it comes to navigation. Love the bin can be washed out and that the filters are much higher quality.

Improved Obstacle Avoidance with Excellent Suction
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roomba series of robot vacuums are absolutely incredible. iRobot does a great job at continuing to innovate and offer new features that truly make updated versions of the Roomba worth investing in. This new Roomba J7 moves the camera from the top of the vacuum down onto the front (with an added light). Now the vacuum can see what is directly in front of the device so that it can better avoid obstacles - specifically cords and pet waste (i.e. poop). iRobot is so confident that the new Roomba will avoid pet poop that it will completely replace the vacuum if it does roll over pet poop within the first year. I have found that that J7 does do a better job at avoiding cords and cables, but it still commonly sucks up shoe laces and ultimately drags a shoe around my house until eventually it powers down. Because the camera is on the front of the Roomba, it no longer needs to bump into everything before it knows that it should turn. It does continue to lightly tap obstacles such as chair legs, but it does seem to navigate more efficiently. Ultimately the Roomba is all about convenience - and iRobot has made cleaning incredibly easy. The Roomba maps out the entire floor after 2 or 3 trips around the house. You are then able to draw boundaries within the app to create rooms which you can then name. Once rooms are named, you can pair with Amazon Alexa and then simply ask her to vacuum a specific room - and off it goes - cleaning that specific space and then returning to its charging base. Or, simply set up a schedule of when you want the Roomba to run and let your house be cleaned automatically! The user is supposed to be able to control the roomba remotely from the app, but I have been having difficulty with this feature. I can log into the app and tell the Roomba to start a new job, but the app will quickly time out and tell me that the Roomba is ready to start a new job (as opposed to actually off doing the task I selected). When I return home, the Roomba has indeed attempted to complete the task, but is often stuck on a shoe or backed into a corner. Because the app didn’t know that the Roomba was working on the task, I get no error notifications like I would with my Roomba S9. Overall, I would absolutely recommend the J7 to anybody who is generally tidy. If floors are frequently cluttered, the roomba will still manage to get stuck - on kid’s clothes, toys, a towel used to wipe a pet’s feet, etc. But, the suction combined with the dual rollers does a spectacular job at cleaning both carpet and hardwood floors. I can literally walk into a room and feel how clean the floor is beneath my feet. And both the J7 and S9 impressively transition seamlessly between hardwood and carpets. Surprisingly the J7 can even clean rugs without getting caught on the corners. To roomba is mostly about convenience, but it truly does a good job and you will be amazed at how much gathers in the dust bin. Also worth noting, I believe that it is absolutely worth the extra money to get the Clean Base that can empty the dustbin on its own. The onboard dust bin is quite small and fills incredibly quickly. Roomba cleaning can be fully automated, but if the dust bin is full (which it will be after nearly every job) then it will not actually be able to clean to its full potential. With the Clean Base, the onboard dustbin will be sucked empty allowing the Roomba to continually clean without any intervention needed.

Excellent purchase
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are good things about roomba j7 over j7+ because it can be under stereo cabinet. I set the schedule for every day clean. I check the trash tray every few days. First thing first, I mapping entire house real precise. I removed the brush, removed small furniture, and cleaned up before mapping. My first floor is about 1000 sqf with hardwood floor, and irobot did a good job. Take a little over than one hour every day and go back to base no problem. I will buy the second one for the basement soon.

3 dogs and a cat
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this little machine! I have 3 French bulldogs and a oriental cat none have long hair but all she’d! I reuses to buy a robot vacuum for years until the animal poo issue was resolved, and finally they have! It cleans enough that I don’t feel I have to sweep every day all day and it gets the dust fur under dressers and things! I wish the bitty bin didn’t need to be emptied every day but I have a small zoo!

Powerful. Efficient. Smart.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.iRobot Roomba j7 (7150) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum, Identifies and avoids obstacles like pet waste & cords - Graphite Summary: Powerful. Efficient. Smart. Pros: * Powerful. Among the most important features of a vacuum is its ability to clean. This vacuum has the power for tough jobs. I have a miniature schnauzer that is velcro for outdoor stuff. I have a corgi that sheds like Niagara Falls. This vacuum makes a full pass of my second floor inside of an hour and packs the dirt, dust, and hair away. I usually have to clean my older robot vacuum once peruse. The j7, despite having a physically smaller tray, only filled about its capacity. How? The vacuum provides so much suction that the mass is almost compressed inside of the collection tray. I could probably get two or three days out of this if I needed to. * Efficient. Due to the power described above, and the smart capabilities described next, the j7 can efficiently clean your home possibly multiple times depending on the schedule and room list you provide. Clearly, square footage ultimately determines the mileage you'll get out of this robot. But I quite love that I can direct the unit to clean a single spot once or multiple times without having it roll all over crisscrossing. * Smart. The bread and butter of this robot are its smarts. Being able to map out your home, apply boundaries and no-go zones, and detect obstacles like cords and edges, make this robot a winner. Try telling your kid to vacuum the living room and have the whole living room actually vacuumed ;), try getting them to do it on a precise schedule, or only when you're away, or some other condition (working in tandem with your Smart Home). * Smart Home Capable. This thing has integration with Alexa. Yes, you can quite literally do the above with this robot "Alexa, tell Roomba to clean the office." * Great App. While the app did crash when it was working on rendering the map, it has performed well since. It shows charge status, allows you to perform an unscheduled clean job, allows you to perform map-only mode, it allows you to configure the map and spaces and boundaries with ease. SETUP of the Roomba j7 was also a snap. The built-in WiFi is for the 5Ghz spectrum. This means no fiddling with your router because a device only supports 2.4Ghz (*cough* my Orbi!). The setup worked smoothly and my robot was up and charging in no time. Just follow the included brief instructions (don't look for a power switch like I did!). * Avoid the void. Something you don't think you need and so far I haven't (ever), but this unit is capable of avoiding your pet's poop. I assume it would do this with regurgitated food, which sadly I have experienced. So this is a nifty perk. * Clever Bin Release. The bin release on this is quite easy to use. Remove bin. Press another button to empty. Return to the robot. * Easy Replacement Parts. Serving this unit for depleted consumables or hardware is easy. Also, being iRobot, you'll have access to branded replacement components as well as a host of other licensed products. Cons: * No Support for Large Bin. I was hoping this unit would feature support for the large bin/ dock. Alas, it doesn't. * Heft. This might be simply a technology limitation, but there is definitely some heft. Someone might find this off-putting if they're having to relocate the unit physically (to a different floor, etc). * No other real cons. Use: I ran my former vacuum (Ecobot DeeBot) daily. The problem? None of real consequence, more really those of inconvenience. It did lose its programming quite often, though. The app is also a bit clumsy as is the setup process. Did you misplace your remote? Need to reconfigure it to new Wifi? Your router better offers the ability to disable 5Ghz. The Roomba j7 doesn't have any of these headaches. My Deebot will be rehomed to another floor. It was actually a replacement for a Roomba that died several years ago. I STILL KEEP THE DEAD ROOMBA because I thought I was going to return it to service - I loved it that much! The Deebot was on a super promotion and it made more sense at the time to try something new. I'm glad I get to use a Roomba again. I would have taken a video of the Roomba j7 working from my third floor. But I can't upload videos for review. The unit really does move in the way they do in the product demonstrations. Pretty cool!

Okay but not so good for pet owners
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to supplement my upright vacuum and to use in between cleanings. After one use the wheel on the bottom was knotted with dog hair so tightly I cannot cut it off. Works well but not as easy to set up the mapping of the house. In the store it shows this paired with a dirt holder. Made it seem like this was included and it is not.

Excellent robot vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have used a Deebot robot vacuum in our house for over a year. It was our introduction to robot vacuums. The Roomba j7 is an improvement. Unpackaging the Roomba j7 is very easy. An extra filter and brush head are included. Just plug the charger into the wall and align the Roomba j7 to charge. Make sure it is fully charged before beginning. You will need to download the iRobot app and connect to your network. You can rename your vacuum for a personalized feel. Then you will need to prepare your area so that it can clean without too many obstructions. It is recommended to move cords out of the way, which I already have tied up with little Velcro fasteners. After running the Roomba j7 a few times it will map your area and you can name rooms. Room naming is important if you would like to be able to clean just one area or use Alexa to start a clean. The mapping was good but I had to add a divider in the app to separate a bathroom. Setting up integration with Alexa took a few tries. Setup through the iRobot app under Menu – Smart Home and NOT the Alexa app which has a broken link. Once setup you can just tell Alexa what to have the Roomba j7 clean. In our basement we have a coated floor and several new wool rugs. Some of these rugs are textured and have some valleys. I was worried that might cause an issue with the Roomba j7 getting hung up on the larger rugs. That was not an issue at all. It actually cleaned the rugs very well and they shed a lot because they are new. BUT the bin filled up too quickly and I had piles of rug lint everywhere. After emptying the bin and running a new cycle I still had lint piles. Underneath the Roomba j7 is a compartment with 2 rollers. You lift up the latch and you can pop out the rollers and clean the lint that is caught inside the machine. It is easy to do. I did find that you can change the vacuum to stop cleaning when the bin is full under Settings – Cleaning Preferences. That helped but means I have to manually empty the vacuum a lot. The rugs will eventually stop the shedding. The Roomba j7 became stuck a few times. Once it was stuck on the base of the fan that I use for workouts. It only happened once but it was like a beached whale on the fan base. We have a rocking recliner and it became stuck under one corner a few times in the same spot. Cleaning was excellent by the amount of lint it picked up. I also ran it on flat carpet and the cleaning was excellent. It didn’t tangle any cords and it doesn’t bump into items hard. I perched some papers on the rim of a trash can and they never fell off. We don’t have pets but it probably is excellent on pet hair with how it handled our rug lint. It takes 90 minutes to clean our basement and I was able to run twice before the battery was really low. Scheduling cleaning is very easy and you can setup for whatever days / times you would like. It also has a Do Not Disturb mode where you can set the hours to never operate. I was really impressed at how well it handled the taller rugs and how it picked up the dust on the coated flooring. It handled cords well. In cleaning history, it takes pictures of concerns and there were pictures of one corded area several times – I think it was chiding me for the cords. This vacuum is recommended. A larger bin would be a bonus. NOTE: I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.

Finally no more running over stuff
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.iRobot is the go to standard, this j7 will avoid obstacle such as toys or pet poop in the path, no more worrying the vacuum destroys toy, the floor or itself. It does this with camera and light mounted at the front and AI machine learning. It is so fun watching it avoids obstacle. Small crumbs get picked up well and does not get scatter around by the sweeper brush. The initial learning run does not avoid obstacle and got stuck behind my recliner as it climbed up the feet but after mapping and learning my house, it works perfectly. Also it is better to charge it overnight before the first cleaning and mapping run otherwise it will pause and return home. After it mapped your house, it prompts you to customize the house map into rooms, it is pretty easy except deleting room divider is slow. With rooms defined, it becomes more efficient because you can choose which rooms to clean based on needs. I wish the bumper is more scratch resistance, after first run, it is all scuffed up.

Best robotic vacuum I've used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've utilized several different robotic vacuums and each did the job, but I've never felt like my flooring was perfectly addressed each time. The mapping system on the j7 is insane and I can only imagine how they will improve upon this. So initial setup is fairly easy, download the standard Roomba app (iRobot), and get everything connected and charged. Then tell it to do its thing and it'll go about the standard, back and forth lines while detecting obstacles and noticing when it's too dark (it'll turn on its little flashlight). Now after a couple of cycles is when things get really fun because you will literally have a map of your house in your app. That's when you can assign rooms and interact with Alexa to say, "Tell Roomba to clean living room" and because you have it mapped, off it goes. I'm imagining this being perfect for when people are coming over, have it do the kitchen and living room real fast because you don't want it running for hours doing the whole house. Suction was A+ and I was surprised how much extra it was able to pick up running it fairly shortly after running my normal older robotic vacuum. The quick release for the catch bin was fairly easy to use (and easily operated even if you forgot to read the instructions for that part). I was surprised that the catch bin had such a large lip around the edges of the hole for emptying, but due to the high level of suction the dust and hair gets compacted so it was much easier to empty than I expected. I did learn later on that it's faster for it to do a mapping run as it won't actually vacuum but just run around making a map of the house. If I was redoing the process, I'd probably start with that first as it's great to be able to use those features right away.

Great product
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely love my Roomba. Great product, cleans well and easy to set up. Love the app allows me to map out my house and set boundaries. It's crazy how well this vacuum can identify areas throughout my home where it may need to clean more. I did buy the separate self-emptying dock, which is wonderful for not having to empty the bin as often. I have cats, so the bin does fill up quickly with cat hair.
