AMAZING
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this robot. It’s super easy to set up. The robot makes a map of your house. Each room you want cleaned and the ones you don’t. It takes pictures of the obstacles each cleaning session and sends them to you. The one drawback is bags. But it’s self emptying and self contained. I’d give it 10 stars if I could! It is a little loud but not any louder then an upright vacuum.

Obstacles beware
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first robot vacuum and I got it for a great deal. The obstacle avoidance feature still leaves a lot to be desired. It'll either avoid the obstacle or plow right through it without a 2nd thought. I'm hoping the more I run it, the more it will learn. If not, then I'll get an ecovacs next time. It does a decent job on lvp flooring and the fact that it sounds like a jet engine taking off every time it empties the bin honestly makes me laugh.

Roomba over Shark
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Previously had the Shark AI and wasn’t doing a good job with vacuuming. Decided to return it and order this bad boy. Immediately saw a difference when I opened the app, UI is friendly and gave more options than Shark. When it came to vacuuming, it picked up a lot of our dogs hair (German Shepherd & Border Collie/Husky) with ease. It gets stuck from time to time but that’s due to our chairs having a small metal frame at the bottom. Once it finishes the job, it gets pretty loud when it gets put into the “diapers”. It sounds like an aircrafts APU running. Overall: great robot vacuum for your cleaning needs.

Roomba
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No complaints. I have two large short haired dogs and this Roomba effortlessly keeps my carpet clean. After 3 full cleans the device successfully mapped my 2nd floor and identified any obstacles/ troubled areas. I set the device to clean M-F when I leave the house via an app IFTTT. The device is somewhat quiet however, the emptying into the base is loud. I would highly recommend this purchase to anyone who needs a automatic vacuum.

Good to keep floors clean
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great option for cleaning in between deeper cleanings! The only issue I have run into this far is it sometimes gets stuck for a while underneath the table and chairs. It’s a little louder than I thought it would be but quieter than regular vacuums. Recommend if you have pets or live in an area with lots of dust.

How To Train Your Roomba
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally, finally, finally. It’s a Roomba that actually checks to see what is in front of it before it runs it over. I think every Roomba I’ve owned while caring for two cats have succumbed to the inevitable random hairball attacks in the wee hours of the night. This has traumatized me enough to stop running the automated schedule feature; I always have to do a sanity check before I run any Roomba nowadays. The j7+ hopefully solves this problem. Having owned the i7+ for a few years now, it was easy to get to know the j7+. The “i” and “s” series of Roombas are smart enough to map your entire home’s floor plan so that you can decide what areas of home need cleaning, and the newest “j” series are no exception. Once your map has been created, you can take advantage of automated cleaning via schedules and the amount of passes for a particular room (maybe a high traffic area needs more than one pass). They all remain methodical in their cleaning paths, minimizing clean times and maximizing both square footage cleaned and battery life. That’s all there is to it. But let me tell you what the “j” offers that it’s siblings do not. The j Series offers something called PrecisionVision Navigation, but I like to call it Obstacle Avoidance. Using cameras and some sleek software engineering, the j7 can identify obstacles and ask you if you think it should avoid the obstacle or area. With the magical powers of the internet and image databases, the j7 has tons of examples to reference when determining if something is out of place. Only two things come to mind: cords and pet waste. Now, all this decision making happens from the iRobot app, so owning a Roomba like this is catered toward the tech-savvy. It has to be used in conjunction with the iRobot app (setting up WiFi, adding a Roomba product, etc). After each run, the app will give you statistics on it’s last run (sq cleaned, clean time, etc) as well as pictures of potential obstacles in its way during that run. You then have the ability to tell your own Roomba if it's (1) a temporary obstacle like a sock that never made it to the washing machine , (2) a permanent obstacle like a cluster of wires underneath a desk, or (3) not an obstacle at all. If you deem the observation either a temporary or permanent obstacle, you have the option of sharing your photo with Roomba to build their image database further to help other j7 and future models identify trouble. For me, that trouble is cat hairballs. Choosing permanent will mark the area on the map as a Do-Not-Clean area. So essentially, Roomba is saying that I should not be afraid to start using the scheduling feature once again. They are so confident in their product that they are giving me the Pet Owner’s Official Promise (POOP). If my j7 decides to run over the nasty hairballs that may manifest itself in the middle of the night, Roomba will replace it for free. The promise is only valid to the original owner for up to one year from the purchase date. And so I now run the j7 every night, waiting for the hairballs to manifest themselves. So far, no hairballs, and no stinky j7. Summer is ending, and the hairballs are waning. Still waiting. Let’s talk about the quirks with this machine. Allowing the j7 to learn your home’s floor plan can be a bit difficult, especially if you have small children or if you live a not-so-organized lifestyle. The j7 needs to run a few passes through your home to establish a map. These passes can be either a normal cleaning or a mapping run (no cleaning involved). If there is a slight change in the environment (like a chair is misplaced or toys are scattered), the j7 will think it’s a new floor plan and create a second map. Add another misplaced chair or clutter, and it might make a third! You’re going to have to be diligent for the first few runs, ensuring that it can establish a baseline for your home. This is key to getting all the other features of this unit to come alive. I was about ready to give up on this unit, but I realized that I may have made it difficult for the j7 to learn the floor plan. Another quirk that I’m kind of on the fence with is its flashlight. It now has a flashlight to illuminate its path and aid in picture taking. The thing is, at 1AM-2AM in the morning, it’s lighting up everything in a dark room. I don’t have blinds or window treatment on some windows, and it’s putting my goods on full display during the late hours of the night! One honorable mention is the very loud self-emptying bin. Up in our 2nd floor, we don’t hear it as loud when we’re asleep, but imagine it going off if you live in a studio or smaller apartment. Another honorable mention is the scratches and scrapes the Roomba inflicts on itself. After one run, it will look like it is 6 months old. Last quirk that still bothers me today is the “Vacuuming cancelled”, or Error 17. This does happen from time to time, and unfortunately the app doesn’t tell you exactly why Error 17 happened. What you will find is at least 9 different reasons why it may be happening and leaving it up to you to decide which one may be triggering it to happen. Yeah, no thanks. Lastly, for those considering any Roomba vacuum cleaner, please remember that these units need general maintenance too. This includes removing hair and dust that might collect in the front wheel as well as the spin rollers. There is a small high-efficiency particulate filter that needs to be replaced every few months to keep the Roomba running at 100% suction. Eventually the spin rollers will become dull and worn and you’ll have to replace those too. These accessories will also add to the total cost of ownership down the line.

Simply the Best!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgrading from the iRobot i3 (3150) to the iRobot j7 self-emptying (7550). To be direct, I love the i3 and it is an outstanding vacuum for the price point. But the j7 really is a game changer with the onboard camera and self-emptying base station and individual room set up!! First off the basics…Set up could not be easier, unless there was a person that came with it to remove it from the box. I mean you literally just pull it out of the box, plug in the base station, down load the app and set the vacuum on the charging station. Press the button on it to sync with the app and you’re done!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the simplicity. That is a theme I really love about this vacuum… set it up and forget about it. It simply does a fantastic job vacuuming then cleans itself and charges it-self along the way as needed. Amazing!!! Now, I do want to add that to really squeeze all the tech out of this you do need to get the app and take a few minutes to name rooms and place virtual borders to designate rooms. It took me about 20 minutes to get all that laid out and learn how to move the virtual barriers and name the map of your house and then name all the rooms. But it is so worth the investment of time. I guess you could just skip all that and just vacuum your whole house everytime but that takes a lot of time if you have a mid size house. I have done a full house vacuum a couple of times now. My house is about 2600 sq ft. and the vacuum say’s it’s about 2100 sq ft. That’s sounds about right with the garage and closets and a bathroom I closed off that our dog stays in during the day. It takes it about 8 hours to complete the job with the charging ect. What’s great about that though is I have not had to attend to it ONCE!!!! It does not get stuck, It does not need to be emptied, it just works and works and does a fantastic job at that!!! It is soooo smart…so is the i3 but the j7 has something the i3 can never have that really shines….VISION!!! It literally sees. One of the things that in hind sight was really kind of a pain in the butt with the i3 was that (depending on how big your house is) the vacuum would need to return to the base station to charge. That’s expected but then you also have to keep an eye on it to make sure to empty it. If you forget to empty and its charged it will just sit there and blink. It has spent hours for me to notice…hey …why is it not vacuuming….oh yeah it’s probably full. I didn’t really know looking back but now with the self-emptying feature of the j7, I can’t imagine not having the self-emptying feature. It’s the ying to the yang and having both the vacuuming and emptying really makes this unit a self-reliant and highly capable robot maid!!! I noticed it as it navigates throughout the house….it moves with more confidence , speed and easily navigates quickly through the house. Much better than the i3. It seems like the i3 used mapping like a blind person that uses a walking stick. Effective… It touches everything and learns how to move but the j7 doesn’t have to do that. Now the j7 still is somewhat tactile as it learns the house, but I watched it stop when it came up to a pair of shoes and go around it without banging into them. It also flawlessly navigated a laptop power cord and (ironically) a stick vacuum battery that I had charging on the ground. Truly remarkable. They say it can ID pet poop as well and prevent a poo smearing catastrophe!!! We should not have that problem as we keep out pet in the bathroom when we are at work but it’s nice to know it should not happen…what a nightmare. I really do like the fact that it can spot trouble like shoes, pet toys, table legs, power chords and some laundry in the floor. Very impressive. The i3 would have had to been rescued a few times with those obstacles. I also noticed how much quieter the j7 is from the i3. Not night and day different but the j7’s motor is either quieter or at a lower pitch than the i3 and that is easier on the ears. What is not easier on the ears and startled me just a bit is when that base station sucks out the dust from the actual vacuum…it sounded like a 747 taking off!!! Scared the dog a bit… but it needs to get the dirt, right? But it’s loud…no joke but effective. The app is amazing and after a few full runs through the house you can name the rooms and adjust the room dividers with the app and be specific with your clean up request…vacuum just the guest bedroom ect. You can also select zones and add stay away zones as well. This is a big deal. As I noted earlier it took about 8 hours to clean my whole house from start to finish (that includes charging times). Being able to tell it to clean the bedroom when I leave the house Or even better, I opened a box and it had small, tiny pieces of Styrofoam that was all over the kitchen. I told the Roomba to just vacuum the kitchen and boom…done! Imagine trying to be that specific with any other vacuum that does not have that kind of smarts???? Something to consider. I also like the small footprint of the base station and the unit. Doesn’t take up a ton of space and it looks sleek. This is what great tech looks and acts like. It’s smart, self sufficient and effective!!! Consider hiring a cleaning lady just to vacuum…100 bucks a month for a clean vacuumed house 2 times a month? This vacuum will pay for itself in no time. Vacuum every other day, or when you leave for work or on the weekends? It’s that smart. I love coming back to a dust bunny free wood floors and clean vacuum tracks on all the carpets!!! What an awesome product!!! Highly recommend. Wish I could give it 6 stars.

Upgraded and haven't looked back
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded from a budget robot vacuum to the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite, and I am so glad I did! The Roomba j7+ is a night and day difference from my old vacuum. It is much more powerful, it cleans my floors much more thoroughly, and it is much more intelligent. One of the things I love most about the Roomba j7+ is its ability to avoid obstacles. My old vacuum would constantly get stuck on things like cords and furniture, but the Roomba j7+ has a camera and sensors that allow it to see and avoid obstacles. This means that I never have to worry about it getting stuck, and I can be sure that my floors are getting cleaned thoroughly. Another thing I love about the Roomba j7+ is its automatic dirt disposal. My old vacuum had a small dustbin that I had to empty every day or two. The Roomba j7+ has a much larger dustbin that can hold up to 60 days of dirt and debris. This means that I can go weeks without having to empty the dustbin, which is a huge time saver. Overall, I am very impressed with the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite. It is a powerful, intelligent, and convenient vacuum that has made my life much easier. If you are looking for a robot vacuum that will do a great job of cleaning your floors, I highly recommend the Roomba j7+. Here are some of the pros and cons of the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite: Pros: Powerful suction Thorough cleaning Intelligent obstacle avoidance Automatic dirt disposal Long battery life Easy to use Cons: Expensive Can be noisy May not be suitable for homes with pets Overall, I think the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite is a great robot vacuum. It's powerful, intelligent, and convenient. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a robot vacuum that will do a great job of cleaning their floors.

little cleaning buddy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.first I didn’t think i’d ever need one of these robot vacuum, but after I finally had the chance I love this little robot roaming around my house and collecting dust I didn’t think I had. unboxing experience was fairly simple it’s labeled by number to kinda of guide of what to open first, doesn’t have much, you will have the power cord and an extra small filter. not sure if it’s just my packaging but the box came with two manuals but none of the paper came with instructions manual to tell me what’s in side of the device to give me an over view or to teach me of how to install or disassembled the roomba vacuum, no instructions to guide the user to download the app either, but those are some useful things that other people might not be aware of what to do after finally decided that the box really didn’t come with some kind of instructions I just went ahead and downloaded the irobot app to setup the irobot j7+. the setup experience was also an issues, the app wasn’t recognizing the device or it will lose connection, I know it’s not my wifi I have great internet at my home with zero problems on other devices. speaking of the app the experience is great, it’s easy to use from creating setting to set which day you want the roomba to clean to or just to see how roomba is doing as well. I enjoy the app it gives you so much information about the vacuum from battery life to starting the job, the app will also keep you posted if anything wrong with the roomba, but the biggest highlight about irobot app was mapping the environment this could take some time, since the roomba will have to move and scan around the floor of your home, specially by having a bigger home this could take a little while, irobot app also have an option to do mapping run, it’s main purpose is to cover more ground in less time, once it’s done you will be able to even name certain section of your map so you can program the roomba to which section you want the device to clean. amazing stuff right there! seeing the map of my home after cleaning cycle helps me understand which area the roomba been, you also have the ability to create zones on the app once you have the layout of your home, you can pick specific location where you can close so the roomba won’t bother going at all. or how much in the space you want the device to clean. roomba definitely collected a good amount of dirt/ dust than I expected to, just some area that usually put out of reach for me, or sometimes feeling lazy going down to vacuum some lower area, i’m satisfied of what i’m experiencing so far. instructions did say that it’s recommended to have a great amount of lighting when using the device, so if suggest to stick with that, and to help the roomba to read your floor layout a lot faster. at the end of each run the roomba will return to its base station when the battery is low or done cleaning. the j7 have the ability to empty the container to transfer it to base station, this process can get pretty loud when it’s extracting dirt off the roomba itself. issues that you might encounter with the roomba are having too much hair stuck in the bottom, but no worries it’s such an easy way to uninstall and install back the parts when cleaning the device. overall i’m very satisfied with irobot j7+ the issue of not having manual instructions for setup right at the box wasn’t as great. issues of getting disconnected through the app also not a great thing to encounter, but when it works irobot j7+ is an amazing piece of tech to have in your home.

Love the Self-Emptying base
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THE BREAKDOWN: The iRobot Roomba j7+ is the latest in the lineup of robot vacuums with self-emptying capabilities. While the self-emptying feature is not new it is certainly a feature that I would not do without. The overall design and shape are very similar to other robot vacuums on the market. This one is controlled by the iRobot companion app. The design is very sleek and stylish with the traditional rounded shape which measures 13.4” Length by 13.3 Width and 3.4” in height and weights around 7.49 lbs. There is a long-bristled brush on the side that helps sweep the debris into the middle. The middle roller is rubber and is around 6.75 inches long. On the top of the robot is a single button that has led lights. The led changes colors to let you know the status. You get a white spiral while charging, a red light is a problem or indication that the battery is low. The button can also be used to start, stop and abort cleaning. The docking station had a bin on the back that you lift to access the debris collection bag. This is also where the spare bag, filter and this is also where I stored my extra long-bristled brush head. The app is where most of the magic happens. This is where you name your robot vacuum, see all the settings, features and where you set schedules. Once you set up your map by running your vacuum a few times you can even section parts off and give them names. This allows you to only clean certain areas if you wish. This did an excellent job of cleaning. I have 2 dogs and the hair can get everywhere fast and with this I can just run the vacuum twice a day it and it keeps the dog hair in check. This does a great job of not sucking up my charging cables like my other robot vacuum will do. For obstacle avoidance this thing was a champ. PRO’s: - Very stylish looking - Good navigation and avoids obstacles - Voice assistance - Schedule cleanings - Self-emptying base CON’s: - Still have to clean my kids hair from the rollers - Can be loud on wood floors - The self-emptying base can be loud SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this that is portable and gets the job done.

Super Smart Robo Vacuum!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.J7+ is their newest Roomba model that was released in Aug 2021. I had it for 2 weeks and had an opportunity to compare its features and performance with two other brands (one has self-emptying base) that are in the same price range and with two older generation models of Roomba (960 and 780). This is a major upgrade compared to the older Roomba models I have. I had the older Roomba models for over 5 years and the only things I had to change on those are the batteries and the brushes and they still run a like a champ. The model comes with a self-emptying base, 2 dirt disposal bags for the self-emptying base, a set of side brushes, and an additional high efficiency filter. Set-up and App Functions Set-up was breeze, took about 5 minutes to have it connected to my Wi-Fi and set it up on a cleaning schedule using the iRobot app. It took 3 runs for it to confiture the home map. The app is user friendly and has ton of features and information related to its performance. You can allow this app to integrate with your smart home (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.) app, if you choose to. The app provides you with several customizable options: 1) You can set rooms on your home map once its mapped and schedule cleaning plan for individual rooms. The cleaning history map also shows the location of obstacles identified during that cleaning session. 2) Customize schedule, locate your Roomba with a chime, look at the cleaning history, monitor Roomba health, job status during cleaning, etc. 3) Has a cleaning preferences menu that allows you to customize additional options - what you want your Roomba to do in events such as bin full, number of cleaning passes, extra clean, obstacle detection on/off, etc. 4) Also has an option if you want to participate in their Beta program to test new features. Performance 1) It's notable feature is the obstacle detection and avoidance which is not offered by any other brand that I am aware off. I tested the feature and works great. I have several power cords, charging cables on the floor and under my bed, etc. that often got stuck in the rollers or the vacuum stops cleaning when get stuck among cords with my older models and j7+ plus does an amazing job avoiding those. I also tossed few items in front of it while it was cleaning and it avoided those and went around to clean rest of the room. This is a must buy robot vacuum if you are concerned about pet hazards and it is programmed to avoid it! The company advertised that if the robot fails to avoid solid pet waste within a year of your purchased, the company will give you a new one for free! 2) It has a learning algorithm that constantly learns and configures for high traffic areas, seasonal dusty conditions, suction settings needed for different areas that has carpet, rugs, etc. It gets smarter over time. The previous generation ones bumped against every object and it gets annoying when it keeps doing that again and again. The j7+ did that a few times during the learning process and now it recognizes the room corners and objects, slows down and navigates without bumping. This is a big improvement over the previous generations. 3) It's less noisy on carpets compared to the older generation Roomba's that I have. 4) The dirt disposal bag is big enough to last 2-4 months - might vary based on your home area and environment. A 3 pack disposal bag costs about $19. 5) Has a good suction power. I inspected the dirt bags and saw some fine dust on the first run right after I vacuumed the entire place with a dyson vacuum. 6) It follows a vertical or horizontal cleaning pattern unlike the random paths the older generation took. This one has the camera on its front instead of the top, which offers a wider view and allows it to see objects on the floor. 7) The clean base automatic dirt disposal dock (allegers trap bag) is a nice addition to the j7 and you don't have to worry about emptying the Roomba after each use. This is helpful for people suffering from allergies like me and not have to worry about emptying the Roomba dust bins. Am guessing, for my use the disposal dirt bag should last at least 3 months. Overall, I recommend j7+ for pet owners and for people worried about cords and stuff lying on the floor. It comes at a higher price point, but is well worth for the new features it offers!

Vast Improvement Over My 4-year-old Roomba
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Roomba 960 I purchased 4 years ago that is going strong. I have been looking for a second one so I can cover both floors without having to reposition it upstairs. The Roomba j7+ meets that criteria and a whole lot more. I was surprised there wasn’t a manual that came with the j7, but the setup process was a breeze. I remember with my older Roomba, I had to connect my phone to the 960’s wifi signal for the initial setup, but not with the j7. I just had to walk through the simple setup wizard in the iRobot app and I just needed to enter the password for my wifi network and somehow it was transferred to the j7. Speaking of the app, it is easy to use and is easy to switch between the two Roombas. After the second cleaning of my first floor, the app let me know that it was ready for me to set up my map. The j7 had mapped out my first floor and set up dividers between the rooms. I was able to customize them a little bit to match them to the floor plan and label each room. When I want to start a job, I can choose to clean the whole floor or select a specific room to clean. When you choose a specific room, the j7 obeys the boundaries and just does that single room. Very Cool! In addition to labeling rooms, you can label Keep Out zones or Clean zones. Keep Out zones are for places you don’t want the Roomba to go. I don’t have any at the moment, but I expect I’ll use it when I have a Christmas tree up, so that it doesn’t try to run over the tree skirt. The zones show up on the map and you specify the dimensions in feet, so you can measure the area you want to include or exclude and be pretty accurate about it. A Clean zone is just the opposite, where you want the Roomba to clean a specific area. I set one up for my front door, so I can tell the Roomba to just go clean the front door area. The Roomba itself just has a single button on top, so there isn’t much to do with it. That’s why the first part of this review revolved around the app, because that’s where you interact with the j7. I like the simple clean design on top and I love the green color scheme on the rollers and the Edge-Sweeping brush. I like how the dust bin on the Roomba swings out. The Clean Base tower is sleek as well. I don’t love that it uses a bag for the tower. It would be better if it wasn’t a disposable bag, but a bin, both from a recurring purchase perspective and an environmental perspective. I always found the area beneath the 960 was dirty, but the docking area on the Clean Base has been clean every time. After the first pass through the house, the j7 knows what the house looks like and started to determine the best direction to clean each room. My 960 will go all in one direction based on the orientation of the Roomba when it starts and will sometimes clean part of a room, then go to the next room for a little bit, and back. The j7 seems to want to focus on one room at a time, which seems more efficient. After a job, the iRobot app may notify you that there we some obstacles it encountered and wants you to review to let it know if this was a temporary obstacle or if you want to add it to a Keep Out Zone. The j7 takes a picture of the obstacle. It often found cords, but I have most of my cords in a place where it shouldn’t be an issue so I haven’t told it to add them to a Keep Out Zone. Pros: • Sleek design • Cleans more intelligently than my Roomba 960 • I can clean a single room or area of the house without having to set up a physical or virtual battier • I don’t have to set up a physical or virtual barrier for places I don’t want the j7 to clean • I don’t have to empty the dust bin every time. Cons: • The vacuum on the Clean Base tower is VERY loud, so don’t plan to run your j7 while you sleep. • Bags in the Clean Base tower are less desirable than a reusable bin, like the bin in the j7 itself I haven’t found anything I don’t like about the Roomba j7 itself. The Clean Base tower has the 2 negative qualities I noted, but that doesn’t change how I feel about the whole package of the j7+. I definitely recommend the j7+ to anyone looking for a cleaning robot. If you don’t need the Clean Base tower, you could get just the j7 and all the things I love about the j7.

Overall; Major Improvement. Replaced The 690
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2.5 months later and I am very happy to have purchased this. Replaced the 2016 Roomba 690 ArrowForce Cleaning System: I was skeptical when I purchased with pet hair and my wife's long hair as my main reason for purchase. I thought this machine would probably have issues too. The older Roombas could not handle the hair. The old bristled brush and beater bar combo took 15-30 minutes to clean the hair off, every week. Using knives, razor blades, etc. This j7 7550 machine is soooo simple. Remove the bars, slide the hair off the ends, reassemble, your done. Maybe 5 minutes. WOW! I can't express enough how much of an improvement the new ArrowForce cleaning system is on these newer machines. After careful review/research, we decided not to purchase 3rd party, cheap replacement parts for this machine. Floor Cleaning: iRobot integrated their "Imprint" smart mapping technology into this machine. This is a big, big deal too. The machine DOES NOT randomly clean and run into everything. It maps the entire home initially, room by room using a camera. Then, it methodically covers the floor area and cleans AROUND obstacles. NICE! With constant updates and AI improvements from iRobot via internet connection, this is a very nice improvement. It takes a couple of hours to complete a 1,400 sq. ft floor space. It actually thoroughly completes the entire home. It will run until it needs to recharge, recharges, then goes back out to complete. With this machine, there is no more searching your home with a flashlight to find your Roomba. Our home has hard tile and short-nap carpet surfaces. It cleans the surfaces well. We have noticed a big improvement in cleanliness around the entire home. I've noticed that it does not get stuck under recliners and on cables. You can definitely tell that the machine is not mindless. Clean Base: This is a really appreciated integration into the whole cleaning process. After the initial cleanup, we had to replace the bag after about 2 weeks because of the mess the older Roomba would leave. That was a little surprising. Since then, it's been 2 months. We haven't changed the bag yet. It lets you know if it needs to be changed. You will hear an alert in your home and get a message on your phone app. The vacuum is loud, but only lasts for about 4 seconds every time Roomba docks. It does a very good job of clearing the dust container on the machine. You won't have to empty the robot at all, unless you don't replace the bags when needed. The base takes care of this. This was a big deal to us. With our old machine, we had to keep constant track of the dust bin on the Roomba. You would find it packed and the machine not able to clean because of air flow restricting. This problem has completely been eliminated. We clean the paper filter every two weeks with our air compressor. It's a simple process, it's small and easy to do. After careful review/research, we decided not to purchase 3rd party, cheap replacement parts for this machine. Phone App: I use this app, but randomly. It doesn't require you to manage the machine much. I find myself just checking in every now and then. The nice thing is, if I need to know something, it tells me. One feature I have really taken notice of is the obstacle awareness and floor map barriers I can place. It's simple and useful. There is a lot more to it than the cheaper model Roombas. So navigation within the app is a bit more intricate, but definitely navigable.

iRobot, self empying. cable management spotter
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The iRobot Roomba J7+ is a pretty powerful little machine. This is the second automated vacuum that maps out the home, so most of my comparison will be to that rather than a traditional upright. My previous automated vacuum was from another brand, and did not have a self-emptying bin. The Roomba J7+ is slightly louder than our previous automated vacuum, but quieter than a traditional upright. The noise level overall is fine, and comparing it to my previous robotic vacuum the Roomba does a much better job at picking up the dirt. We pretty much have laminated flooring, tile and rugs throughout the house, the vacuum has no problem with the transition between any of the flooring so I don't need to baby sit or move anything off of the floor in terms of rugs or mats. The vacuum was pretty quick at mapping out the space, and you can notice areas it avoids such as cabinets, couches or litter boxes since it will not account for this space. Roomba J7+ is pretty good about finding cables, it will mark out every cable it notices on it's adventure. Most of the time I will just tell it there is a temporary obstacle here, since it usually spots the cable for a fan we have to give the dog a cool spot during the summer, being a husky in the desert. There is a little spot in the restroom that has a bench style mirror which we hide the litter box under also, the Roomba avoids the litter box, but somehow thinks it transitions from one room to the other under this space, it didn't go into the space since someone shut the door so it's not green in my screenshot, however I circled where the door is, put an oblong over where there is no entry and rectangle the counter. I need to check out if there is a way to modify, otherwise I may simply see if I can erase the map and have it start a new. The Roomba app is a little nicer than my previous vacuum app, I am able to mark dividers for rooms, label each room and create Keep out zones or clean zones. I had created a keep out zone based on the suggestion after the cleaning, however I have mostly set up the dividers and labelled the rooms. You can create cleaning schedules, which I have set for the Roomba to just clean everywhere at a time during the week when I know no one is home. I did create a new job in which I selected high traffic areas like the entry, living room and hallway to keep these clean when a everywhere cleaning is not required. The vacuum has more than enough battery to clean our place and conveniently empties the tray once completed. The emptying of the bin is the loudest portion of the cleaning, which sounds more like a traditional upright. Overall I am very happy with the Roomba J7+, it helps us keep our space clean after whatever dirt the kids or pets bring it, and it is noticeably cleaner than the competition when walking around barefoot. I would definitely recommend the iRobot brand, just need to play more with the app but happy with this vacuums ability to clean!

Really great but requires some compromise
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have an Australian shepherd and it still keeps the floors clean! Kind of loud and squeaks occasionally after only a month of use. Takes a little over an hour to clean my small first floor. The docking station holds a lot of debris! Amazed I don’t have to change the bags often. Mapping/execution needs more work I feel like it’s inefficient in its travels and could do the job in less time. Being kind of loud like a normal vacuum you’d rather not hear it for 1.25hrs unnecessarily. Overall….it keeps the floors very clean every day and requires little maintenance without me lifting a finger. Very cool. Slightly overpriced.

Roomba for a rest for you!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so great! This makes such a difference for us for our home maintenance. It is a little loud so I recommend using it either when you aren’t home or when you won’t be bothered by the noise. Easy to setup and works off of your phone. Love the programming features too.

Roomba j7+ best so far
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best botvac yet. We've had 4 botvac's in the past 7 years. This is our first iRobot brand and now I see why they charge more than everyone else. Compared to the others, it's simply amazing. We have 3 cats and in the 2 years we've been using the j7+ it's only found one pile of cat puke. All others it has avoided thanks to the camera & software. The filter & brushes last longer with this model as well. If you use an air compressor to blow out the filter it'll last 3 times as long. The dock is by far the best part. It parks itself, dumps the contents that it's picked up on the last run and charges. When done charging, it goes back to where it left off and finishes it's job. This botvac's system maps your house and allows you to create keep out zones, cleaning schedules and allows you to name each room. You can tell the system 'go clean the kitchen' and it'll do it and return to base. The only complaint I have so far is it's difficult to draw lines separating rooms. You have to do all the initial set up, scheduling, etc... on the app. It would be easier for some people if we could do it on a computer using a mouse instead of a little touch screen on our phone.

Very good, but can be loud
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Good: It vacuums very well thus far. The app is very cool, mapping works well and schedules seem to work as intended. The Bad: The emptying process into the charging station is LOUD. It only lasts a few seconds, but it's a loud few seconds.

Works great for homes w/ fluffy dogs
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been a great little vacuum. I have 3 dogs, including a Great Pyrenees and a corgi (HUGE shedders). I needed help keeping up with all the fur, and this vacuum has performed much better than I expected. I run it every day due to the large amount of fluff. Hair does get wrapped around things, but it’s really easy to clean compared to other vacuums I’ve used. The bag also fills much more slowly than I was anticipating. My only complaint is that when it’s emptying into the bag, it sounds like an airplane taking off and is very loud. It’s only a few seconds thankfully, but something to keep in mind since I wasn’t prepared for it and thought it was imploding.

Great machine but needs lots of attention.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this machine, but getting it to map my house has been complicated. I’ve moved furniture so that helps, but to get a really good clean you need to plan ahead. Pick up everything from the floor. Put chairs on the table. Keep lights on in your house. The robot has trouble docking, especially when it completes a full cleaning schedule. You have to keep both the base and the robot clean. Wipe off any dust. Make sure it sets snug against a wall so the base can’t move when it’s docking. However, it has picked up stuff from under baseboards that must have been stuck under there from the previous owners. It’s loud when emptying the bin so make sure you set the schedule when you’re not home and especially when you’re not sleeping. It will pick up large items, and when it does, it will damage the roller. Do a walk-thru before it runs a schedule. My floors get dirty so I’ve got it on a 3-days per week schedule. I do love that it really keeps pet hair picked up. Just watch large items.
