Nice machine, a bit bumpy to get setup.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well what can I say, the machine is nice and works well. I still wonder if this is indeed the roomba as it is completely black without any markings. Also the box doesn’t have a manual or even a sticker with a QR code. There is an iRobot app that you can install on the phone and then link to the machine. From there there are videos and instructions but it all is a bit of an escape room experience. So far my wife love the fact the house gets clean without any work on her side. In the beginning it was fighting with some on ants that were hanging on the floor but that is now resolved.

Good enough. Not Great.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a laminate floor. It cleans it up well enough, which is the most important part. There are quite few things about it that bother me, though. It's quite noisy while it works. The battery doesn't last long enough - it needs to take charging breaks. It has great difficulty getting back on to the dock, such that, many times it gives up, sits outside the base, and loses its charge and connection to the wifi. Out of the box, I got a warning that, upon emptying, it has a "sealing problem". The dogs' hair often gets tangled up in the rollers and wheels. For a name brand, I expected better.

A little slow
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a great product. I like how clean my house look after I use my roomba however I can tell you that it takes a long time to vacuum anything. Most of the times it has a hard time returning back to the charging station by itself. It has died a couple of times on me trying to return to its home.

A good product with a flaw, needs more suction...
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, but stuggles with heavy dog hair. I have two huskys and a shepard and the vacuum brushes pick up the hair but the suction is not strong enough to get it into the Roomba. I have been vacuuming the room with the dog kennels daily for nearly two weeks and still regularly fund clumps of fur that were rolled together by the brushes but fell out when they became too heavy or the Roomba stops and needs the hair to be removed. Attached pictures of dog hair are from a single room vacuumed daily with Roomba j7. Navigation is great, battery is too short, camera works well, bin always empties even with large amounts of dog hair...

Cool product but average with pet hair on carpet
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After owning a few robot vacuums, this did a great job mapping my home on the first try. The app has alot of cool features and I like that I can start it from the Google home app. The main drawback is its ability to pick up cat hair on carpet. The rollers don't get all the cat hair up so it frequently leaves small rolled up tubes of cat hair. It also stutters when going against the grain off my carpet and leaves ridges. [A picture has been provided] Overall, it is better than my previous robot vacuums but I wish it had traditional rollers that can easily pick up cat hair on carpet.

5 reasons why I dislike J7
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although best rumba thus far. 5 reasons why i can't give it 5 stars. When I send it to a cleaning zone to vacuum the J7 doesn't have the ability to simply navigate its way using the fastest route. In fact it bounces around as if it hasn't a clue like a drunk looking for his bed in the middle of the night. Half the time it just gives up! 2nd the suction power seems to be subpar compared to the S9 3RD we need the ability to train it on items on the floor and obstacles. It won't run over dog food! It has major issues with rugs with fringes. Wish it would just push through vs giving up. Should allow us to program for rugs. 4th why not give us the ability to give it routes to speed up navigation. 5th it randomly stops saying bin is full... why not just empty? Sometimes i find it dead because something is stuck. Why not just go back to base so it can be charging and i don't have to search for a dead rumba under a couch. I will say it's amazing considering it has run consistently for days.

Not great with pet hair
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product not great with pet hair. I purchased this product and initially seemed to do ok. It tangles pet hair and leaves behind even on hard surfaces after pulling out of carpets. Customer support was great and actually sent replacements. Unfortunately They didn’t do any better and missed my return window. Easy to use and set up. Would recommend to homes without long hair dogs.

NOT for Pet Hair
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The J7 has many nice features - can run from app on your phone, can run from Alexa (works so-so), can set up keep out zones, takes photos of obstacles and lets you review, self emptying, etc. It does a great job with picking up most surface things that are tracked in on shoes, spills, etc. But if you plan to use it for pet hair.....this is not the one. This was an upgrade for my very old Roomba 650. When it comes to dog hair, there is NO comparison....my old Roomba 650 picks up a LOT more pet hair than the new J7. The features are nice but I would prefer that it pick up pet hair as well as the 650. Spent a lot of money and I use the 650 to pick up what the J7 misses. The attached photo is one run with my old roomba 650 after a month of the J7 running every day and sometimes more often.

Overengineered robot sucks up time, some dirt
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.iRobot is innovating again. The company which had become synonymous with robot vacuums has added a twist with their latest J7 cleaning machine: object detection and avoidance. Unfortunately, in focusing on innovation, they may have left some of the conveniences for which they were known for behind. The app will let you set boundaries which the cleaner should not cross. Before you can do this, a map is created. It took 3 runs and 10 hours to complete the initial map. An early version of the map looked like a house the PIcasso might have designed with no right angles anywhere! The instructions aren’t clear that this version of the vacuum uses visible light to identify walls and objects to avoid. This accounted for much of the 6 hours that the first run took, as I started it overnight, before going to sleep. There is a small LED “headlight” which allows Steve (we renamed him) to see where he’s going in the dark. However, it was not sufficient to identify the objects he wanted to avoid. This meant he was bumping into things all night and redirecting. This was especially true in the kitchen, when navigating around the chairs. Cleaning convenience is very good. Once the map was completed, Steve was able to clear the kitchen and two adjacent rooms in under an hour. He was also emptied his dustbin into the base, so he was ready to clean again the next day. The automatic emptying from the base is what separates the J7 and J7+. The automatic bin emptying is not perfect and left some larger, heavier particles in the vacuum’s dirt bin. However, it certainly made room so I don’t have to worry about it daily. It’s nice to have, but I’m unsure if it’s worth the extra cost. The kit came with 2 bags. The manual claims that each bag will hold dirt from 6 weeks worth of vacuuming. From what I could see, it could even be more, even with the 2 cats I have shedding everywhere! Unfortunately, the speed has not improved over time. In rooms with furniture (like our dining room with it's chairs), Steve is constantly bumping into things, looking around, then going back to the same place. It took so long to clean, that he had to go back to his home base and re-charge just to finish the job. All told, it was 2:20 minutes to clean 570 sq ft. This included 30 minutes of charging time. Cleaning power was good. I ran my regular vacuum over the same carpet that Steve cleaned in the morning. It came away with hardly any dust in the bin. That suggests that Steve is picking up what’s there, leaving me with clean carpets and floors. In the end, that’s all you can ask for from a robot vac.

Great vacuum UNLESS you have pets
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 3 story house and 4 dogs. It's hard to keep everything clean so I've been a big user of robotic vacuums for a long time. I have one on each floor of the house. They run 3x a week and I follow up with a more thorough vacuuming about once a month. The system works well. I had Neato vacuums for a long time, but they got bought out and the quality went out the window. I think they are out of business at this point. I made the switch to iRobot Roomba J7+ units about a year ago. I have 3 of them. Things to like about the J7+ includes the mapping function, camera avoidance system, and the docking stations. The vacuums are amazing when it comes to the tech involved. It takes a few runs, it it maps the house incredibly well. The app works nicely with maps allowing you to selcect areas to vacuum and areas to stay out of. The debris avoidance cameras are great too. If there is something in it's path, it moves out of the way instead of charging over it and getting stuck. This is great for dog toys, socks or anything else of a detectable size. The units vacuum pretty well and empty themselves in into the central bin when done. It's a nice system. The downsides? The replacement parts- batteries, brushes, filters, and bags are ridiculously expensive. I gave up buying the iRobot branded accessories due to cost. You can get the generic versions for 10% of the cost in some cases. Performance wise, they advertise the J7+ as pet friendly and able to clean up pet hair that gets everywhere. This is completely false. It does great on everything-carpets, hardwood, vinyl, etc- but it does NOT do even a halfway decent job with pet hair. It picks up the hair, wraps it into little 'rat tails' and leaves them all over your carpet. On your carpet if you're lucky. Twisted into your carpet if you're unlucky. The vacuum finished it's job and my carpet is covered with pet hair rat tails. I then have to get the larger vacuum and vacuum them all up. Or get on my hands and knees to untwist them fromt he carpet fibers. It's a pain. Do I recommend the J7+? Sure, only if you have no pets. If you have pets, run far away.

This was not for us.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to help the wife. We tried using this and its loud and takes forever to clean just a small section of the room. I attempted to send it home to shutdown but took almost 15 minutes trying to find its way back. I had to go and pick it up manually to take it the the home. We have not used it since. We just went back to using a cordless vacuum. I wish we did not buy this.

works alright, wish it had lidar
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded to this from a eufy robovac x8 hybrid The bad: Oversimplified controls & app interface ironically make the whole experience interacting with this robot less intuitive, more time consuming, and more cumbersome to help it recover from an error. There’s a singular button on the device and the long-press to send home doesn’t always seem to register. I found the audible errors from our previous uefy robovac a little annoying, until I realized that the lack of audible errors on this model mean you have to rely on your phone to know what’s going on with the vacuum. The lack of audible errors & the singular button (that almost feels useless) really make you feel “disconnected” from this vacuum (lol). The lack of lidar on this model means it ONLY works in daylight or with the lights on. We used to run our previous model overnight so we had to adapt to running the vacuum during the day. It occasionally drives itself onto the dock at angle, getting it stuck and unable to charge. It still somehow gets stuck on curtains from time-to-time, even with the visual navigation. The good: The auto empty dock means i only even have to interact with the app or the vacuum when there’s an error. It doesn’t run over our cats’ toys and get itself tangled.

Cleans well, base makes high pitch noise
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cleans carpet and tile pretty well. Doesn't like to pick up any string or hair. The base makes a high pitched noise almost all the time, not sure if mine is defective. Find myself having to unplug it when not in use. The app is easy to use and has good functionality. Sounds like a shop vac when emptying.

Vacuums well but takes hours to complete
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works pretty well. It just takes about 8 hours to vacuum our 1500 sq. ft home with two recharges. Goes over the same areas over and over again while many times missing others completely. Manufacturer replaced it for free when it was doing this the first time. But the replacement one has had mapping issues as well now.

Good cleaning but not so great map
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Automap generation and navigation is not that great, does clean well to the path it travels. But the coverage of the entire home is limited.

Sensitive little robot
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. That little robot is kind of cute, does a decent job WHEN it's actually able to do the job....It is very finicky, loses wi-fi signal easily (although we have a mesh around the house), and will keep getting stuck on a sliding door edge even if you made a "no access" zone for it in the software program. Very sensitive.

iRobot
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say that it cleans better than most of the ones I’ve had. But it will die before returning home a lot and there seems to be an issue with the smart mapping system. Overall good product.

It would be easier just to vacuum
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It get stuck really often and has yet to map correctly. Seems to be confused and can not empty correctly most of the time. I would have purchased a different less expensive brand had I know it was going to have difficulty every time. A
