Defective; and J5 is ignorant of its own products

After functioning for five months, the device suddenly stopped delivering power to, and audio from, an iPhone. J5's response to a support request revealed that their reps don't even understand the purpose of this product or how it works. For example, one told me that it needs 100 watts to function, and that it's not designed for phones (but only for computers and tablets). This is absurd, and directly contradicts what J5's Web site says. 100 watts is the MAXIMUM power that the device can pass through. Also, its primary use is for mobile devices that have only one port, and thus need it to charge and deliver audio at the same time. Why would you even use it for a computer, when computers typically have headphone jacks and don't typically charge with USB-C? When the device functioned, it did so just well enough to be acceptable. Its audio output level is very low compared to other sources, so you need to turn your amplifier up quite high. It also suffers from buzz when you disconnect your phone; this isn't a huge deal because typically you will then switch to another source. Audio quality was acceptable, without the automatic-gain problem that cripples Belkin audio adapters with profound noise.

The C input was for power only. It didn't do what I needed it to do.

Host device must have an available USB Power Delivery over USB-C to support charging to a mobile device. j5create
