seems decent, looks weird
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They work, on & off the tablet part of the device, but they look a bit different than the picture on the box? Not sure if my son knows they look like this.

Weird to use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They work fine, as intended. Best Buys service was great. But these controllers just are not fun to use. Maybe as a kid with tiny kid hands it might be easier. As a gown person who identifies as a man, with big manly hands these are a nightmare to use.

Good when they work
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I run through these things like crazy. The stick drift sucks. When they work, they work. But after a month or so you either take the time to go back to bestbuy for an exchange or you just hang up the switch and kick back for a long time. Oh and these little things are outrageously expensive. Plus, only ugly colors are in stock when I pull up for an exchange.

Mixed Review - Joy-Con misfunctioned w/in 2 weeks
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a mixed review of these Joy-Cons. On one hand, they are a great engineering concept (and obviously they're a necessity to use with the Switch). However, the only reason we bought these replacements is because one of the Joy-Cons on my son's Switch (which we just bought 6 months ago) began to malfunction. On his games, the joystick would just move in one direction. We tried blowing air into it, cleaning it, and recalibrating it. Finally, I figured it was time to take it apart and figure out what was wrong with it. However, Nintendo has some proprietary tri-screws on the back of these Joy-Cons, which I had no luck finding at Best Buy, Home Depot, MicroCenter, nor GameStop. Rather than ordering a screwdriver from Nintendo, I relinquished and bought these $70 replacements. Within 2 weeks, one of these Joy-Cons began to malfunction in the same manner, although not as bad (YET!). We have engrained into my son's head that if he ever breaks the Switch, there is no replacement. Hence, he is very careful with it and doesn't play rough, doesn't toss the controllers, doesn't spill drinks on them, etc. So I'm not really sure why this is occuring. Regardless, you can't really play the Switch without these controllers, so not much I can do. I'll probably eventually take one apart and see what's going on beneath the surface. Just be forewarned that this is the 2nd occurrence of this issue for us within 6 months. I already found the $70 price point to be a bit excessive for a game controller, so I will definitely not be buying a 3rd set and will have to deal with fixing these on my own.

Switch joycon controller
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These controllers are expensive considering how many times I've had to buy new ones. The analogs end up drifting and trigger buttons are inconsistent. Had these for a week and left trigger seems like it's already failing. By comparison, my ps5 controller gets more use and lasts far longer. They are convenient in hand but you should get the pro Controller if playing on a TV.

Four Set Bought Out Of Necessity
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plays the games well and love the colors, however, the Joy-Con Drift issue causes a need to buy a new set of these multiple times since my ownership of a Switch. At the price STILL being roughly $60, it's already cost me the cost of the switch itself.

Nintendo's Least Durable Controller
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third set of joy-con controllers that I've owned over 3 years of owning a Switch. Each set was replaced or exchanged due to the low durability of the joy sticks, the first two sets each lasted about a year before showing issues. This set, supposedly made after Nintendo made improvements to their build quality, started to have issues with joysticks after only 2 months of use! Fortunately Nintendo repaired the controllers free of charge, but still required shipping items and waiting for repair center to ship controllers back. Since these controllers are practically necessary for the Switch, I have a few suggestions for maintaining and protecting these controllers: avoid playing games that require aggressive use of joysticks (Smash Bros), consider purchasing Pro controller for use in docked or table top mode, and consider purchasing Geek Squad protection in case Nintendo does not honor manufacturers warranty.

Nah
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These things are overpriced. They start drifting after a while. It would be better if they came with chargers and continued to work well after 10 uses.

It doesn’t last that long
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Moderate use and already one of the controllers doesn’t work. They should lower the cost if they aren’t going to make it more durable. Paying around $70 each time doesn’t make sense.

Nice controllers...for the first year and a half
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these as replacements for the ones that came with my unit. The first set lasted about a year and a half, then the left joystick started drifting (very annoying when you can't control your character correctly). I looked up online how to fix it. Calibrating didn't work. Cleaning under the stick boot didn't work. So Nintendo makes you spend a lot of money (I think these are overpriced) to replace them every couple of years. When they work though, they are great.

Not recommended due to ergonomics and reliability
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Joycons in general do not have a very good design. Ergonomics are horrible, even when attached to the console. When they are detached, they are downright infuriating. Even for people with tiny hands. Not to mention that these controllers suffer from drift. Yes, even the new and improved versions. Nintendo will fix them for you, but you have to send them in and it takes at least a week. Then they can drift again after a while. My recommendation is to just get a pro controller.

They break too easily
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a love/hate relationship with Nintendo joy cons. They are quick and easy to break, this set was not working correctly so we had to bring it back to replace them. We have other sets that drift or do not hold a battery charge so we will not keep buying this item. Nintendo needs to get better with these, and they need to provide some sort of way of fixing these items

Not good, but options are sparse.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First set drifted fresh from the box. Joycons are by far the worst controllers I've ever used, but there isnt really alternatives for motion games.

You have to have them but hate to need them
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have to jave joy cons right? I own 6 nintendo switches. Every single pair of joy cons have went out. My sons joys cons and my additonally bought model they all get stick drift. So you have to buy another pair when you send out a pair so you can play all your consoles portably. It sucks because they cost more than a pro controller and they never function right. Power as controllwr work much better however to have it in portable mode you need these. I have paid so mich for joy cons. I have bought some from target, bestbuy, and wal mart. They all have stick drift. The product links up and plays right out of the box it is so easy a child can do it. However thats of they work, every pair i have ever owned has messed up EVERY PAIR.

Great Product, Too Frequent issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the joycon concept for the Nintendo Switch. They are much smaller yet so much more powerful than the wiimotes of yesteryear. the addition of a second joystick is something that nintendo has needed to do for years to their default controllers. Using each joycon alone in landscape mode is a little bit cramped. I prefer using the right joycon. My biggest gripe is the reliability issues. Nintendo has addressed this, but it was months ago. When I bought this, they should have fixed the issue a while ago. I stood only about 15 feet from the console, and putting some obstacle between the console and the controllers (as in there isn't a direct line of sight), they would disconnect. Even if they didn't, control became erratic. Overall, my problem isn't with the product itself. If they were to fix this issue like they said they would, they would receive 5 stars. Until that happens, however, I stick behind my 2 stars

Good, but will break easily
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son loves to play with his switch, but he is now on his third set of joy con controllers because after a while they develop joystick drift and so he cannot control his games adequately. I would go with a different option for joystick heavy gaming such as Zelda or Pokemon sword and shield or Super smash bro’s.
