Perfect work and play laptop for my teen

I bought this laptop for my daughter as a Christmas gift. She is using it for light gaming and for schoolwork. It is running Minecraft and Sims4 perfectly. The track/touchpad is customizable and works well. The backlit keyboard works very well and is very responsive and easy to operate. She had been using an iPad for distance learning during the pandemic so this is a big upgrade and she’s finding it incredibly more efficient to using Word to do schoolwork. Of course she could use our desktop before but she likes to be able to work on the couch and in her room. The screen size is nice and large for such a light and slender machine, making working around the house or odd locations no problem at all. It is also a nice touch do you have the touchscreen and it works very well. With the 12 GB of RAM it has enough memory for lighter gaming applications, and definitely enough memory to multitask with several different programs open. All in all, for the price paid, it was a very good deal on an extremely competent machine. We got it during a cyber Monday promotion, and an open box return which made the deal even better, but I don’t see any reason why this laptop isn’t worth the regular retail price. She’s dropped it a few times already and it’s obtained a few scratches in the plastic, but it’s going to be a canvas for stickers anyway, and seems to be a very durable machine thus far.

This laptop is absolutely amazing. I bought this for my wife for Christmas and I liked it so much, I decided to buy one for myself lol. this is our 2nd & 3rd lenovo laptops, my 1st one still works great just decided to upgrade since these were on sale. note- take it out of S mode! that way you can download whatever program you want on it. also, make sure you do all of the updates BEFORE you take it out of S mode for a smooth transition. overall this is a great fast laptop with a ton of features. touchscreen, backlit keyboard, and SSD are a must now a days and they all work great. the screen is crystal clear also.

Overall seems to be a decent computer for my 6th grader’s eLearning. HOWEVER I cannot stand the power cord! It is the most poorly designed thing I’ve seen in a very long time! LENOVO PLEASE FIX IT! First, it is way too short. You have to be practically on top of the outlet. Now, if you are like most of us and have 5 people in the house on computers, you are using a dining room table for someone. This does not even reach the wall outlet from my dining room table, which is close to the wall. I need an extension cord. Ridiculous! Also, instead of a slim rectangular shape in the middle of the cord, they chose to use a large square shape and stick it on the very end so it has to be plugged into the wall. The darn thing is so heavy it weighs down and pulls the plug out of the outlet. And it’s hard to use the 2nd outlet when this monster is plugged in! Now, I could buy a different power cord for say $50 but why should I have to? FIX THE POWER CORD LENOVO!

Got tired of my son having to use a crappy chrome book provided by his school. Also, my wife needed a laptop for work and we didn’t want her to have to mix any of her work o to my gaming rig...... I’ve never been found of laptops, but I’m definitely glad I bought her this one. Only thing I disliked has nothing to do with the laptop itself ( oh wait! battery life not so great, but that doesn’t bother me) The OS windows S mode. Had to remove that. Other thank that, I absolutely enjoy looking at this dark navy blue-ish finish on this laptop. P.S : the mouse is something my son prefers to use

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad S340-15 Laptop, model number 81QG000DUS. We are pleased to hear that the IdeaPad S340-15 is working out so well for your wife and your son. This model ships with a 3CELL_52.5WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, which within this configuration, has a battery life of up to 8 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, first, set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

Great computer. Very sleek and definitely a work horse. I have worked from home for many years and am on my computers 12 hours a day almost 7 days a week. I spilled my coffee on my last computer a few months ago and I was devastated. I thought about upgrading to an even better one but I realized in all the time I had my computer I never had any complaints, so I purchased it again - this one! 2nd Lenovo Ideal Pad and I am hooked! Affordable, great computer.

Got this laptop for my wife as a college graduation gift. Looked super nice but I opened up the laptop to set it up and there was a crack on the base where the keypad is. Not sure if it got damaged in shipping or if the “new” item was really a refurb but $619.99 is a good chunk of money to have on a damaged item.

I love everything about this AMD Ryzen Lenovo Laptop except one thing that may not bother you I write about at the end. But I am keeping it. It's a great value. I am typing this review on it now. I subjected this laptop to a battery of tests in the 1st 2 weeks to make sure it was a keeper: 1. NovaBench read and write speed: Pass. AMD Was significantly faster than my Lenovo I7 Laptop. 2. Color and Animation Generation: This laptop maintained better true color than Intel and my 2020 MacBook Pro. Macbook Pro had slightly sharper contrast but MacBook Pro was 2x+ the cost of this Laptop. 3. Reading screen sharpness--Sharper than Lenovo Intel and same sharpness as MacBook. 4. Startup--Instantaneous SSD Harddrive. 5. Keyboard: Lights up--you can turn lights on and off. Love the lights and the keyboard feel! 6. Audio: Excellent--you won't get better on a laptop. 7. Speed over Wifi opening unique website pages. I cleared the cache and opened up over 1000 different websites (cleaning up my bookmarks folder.) over 3 days of reviewing. It opens fast with no stall. Just one time it dropped the WiFi and I had to sign in again, but not sure why that happened? 8. Battery power retention. Overnight on standby for 12 hours--loss of max 4% of battery. I did not conduct a battery only usage test. That will depend on too many factors different for everyone. 9. Longevity and Reliability: Don't know--only had 2 weeks. 10. Touchpad: It is fine--not the best I have used--not the worst. I prefer to have separate click tabs and not built into the pad--too confusing but no new laptops have that anymore. I use an Logitech M317 optical Mouse most of the time--best Mouse ever made. 10a: Touchscreen: Excellent--best I have seen--use it all the time. Perfect tracking. 11. USB's: Super fast data transfer. 12. Date of Manufacture: November 2020--so fairly current. Country of Manufacture: China Overall Quality: Fine--On it's own its Fine. There are some little quality things I don't like but its a cheap laptop. If you compare it to a $1800 MacBook Pro--the Mac is far superior in build quality. (but Mac is much heavier). 13. Overall Value: Excellent. I don't see how you can go wrong with this laptop. What I did not like but still keeping it: DOES NOT HAVE A SECURITY LOCK HOLE. There is no way to lock it. I live in an area that is Very high theft and I always locked my laptop when I left home. Can't do it with this computer! Only thing I hate about it. Every other Laptop I owned had a security lock hole--this one does not.

This computer was a great improvement over my old one. Although I think my old one has its better points. Like the speakers are weak in comparison to my old computer. Most of the reviews on this computer were very good, I agree with them. I don't have any complaints other than it takes me a week to turn off all the special features I'm suppost to be exited about in the software. But i'm old fashioned I prefer to do thing for myself, if I want to do them at all. That's the world we live in, the developers think they know what people want. I'm not a gamer or a number cruncher but I think this computer could do those jobs. The quality seems to be fine. I love the backlit KB in low light. I'm not a geek but for the price i think you can do alot worse than this computer.

    Great machine, terrible webcam

I have mixed feelings about this laptop. First, the pros: Performance. This thing can multitask like a pro! Display. It's gorgeous! Weight. For the size, it's pretty light! Battery. This thing lasts what feels like forever on a single charge. Startup. Even once I moved all my files over and installed a bunch of apps, startup is still blazing fast. Cons: - The speakers are quite weak. If you want loud sound, you will have to use headphones. (And I'm not talking about "holding a rock concert" loud, rather "understand the soft-spoken person I'm talking to" loud.) - The trackpad. This is a nitpick and is totally subjective, but the trackpad feels flimsy to me, like it will stop responding to clicks in six months. (Note that I've had it for nearly four months with no issues. It's purely that it *feels* cheap.) - The webcam. This is the biggie. The quality is nothing to write home about, but it's fine. Better than my MacBook Air's was. The problem is that my webcam stopped functioning correctly after about six weeks of using it for a couple hours a day. The computer will simply stop recognizing the webcam in the middle of a call. It won't work on any app, and nothing helps until you completely restart the computer. Occasionally, even that doesn't work. After trying many fixes I found suggested online, I wound up doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of Windows 10. The camera worked...for a day. Then, back to the same problem. Essentially, what it boils down to is: know you may need to use an external webcam. That shouldn't be necessary with an $800 laptop, but at least it's a fixable situation.

The Lenovo S340-15 ships with a 720p (HD) webcam with manual Privacy Shutter and Dual Array Microphones built in. If the webcam is not performing correctly, try recording audio/video offline using the Windows 10 video recorder. Here is a link to instructions for doing this:  https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-use-camera-app-windows-10-your-webcam/. If you can record video and audio offline, check the settings for both audio and video within the video conferencing APP you are using. Be sure your computer's video and audio are selected and enabled both on the computer and at the APP as well. If you can not record audio and video offline, now check to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. Then update all BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

This is a phenomenal laptop, especially at the under $700 price point I got it at. It is fast, only seconds slower from cold start to ready than my Chromebook. I upgraded it to Windows 10 Pro and the stability and performance are phenomenal. The laptop is lighter than my ASUS 13" and the case is very durable. My only quibble is with the placement of the touchpad. Being offset a bit to the left, a righty like me tends to hit the right button when I want the left. This is pretty common, though, so it's a small thing. I am usually using a mouse in any case.

I've been using this laptop for about 5 months now and I'm extremely happy with it. Blazing fast, nice crisp colors on the screen, awesome touch screen, and super well made. Coming from an older laptop that had more memory, I was concerned this would not feel as chipper (max memory is 12 GB as comes), however - this notebook performs better than the other one - partially to the amazing processor and hard drive. One thing I'm not too fond with, though, is the amount of fingerprints that easily show up everytime the case is picked up, opened etc. If you're on the fence with this one - you'll not be disappointed one bit - go for it!

We've only had this laptop for just under 2 months, but it has been a very good buy. We were shopping hard and long for weeks for something that would allow some gaming, but mostly for work with Photoshop and Premiere, as well as simple, everyday tasks. It performs tasks fast, runs the above software fast and perfectly, and has all of the boxes checked for what we were looking for. This laptop is also very nice looking. The abyss blue color is sweet. The backlit keyboard is really a nice touch too. We all love the touchscreen option, and the option to close the webcam when we want to. Sometimes, it's the little things that give all of the extra feels to something like this. We bought this Lenovo because we also have a desktop Lenovo that has performed amazingly over the past 5 years, without fail. Hopefully, this laptop will, too.

I bought this Laptop about 2.5 years ago and at first it was awesome. There are things I like and things I don't. Pros: -First off its built well with fairly decent specs for the price -Lenovo's software and lenovo hub is very helpful and innovative (more so than other companies I have used in the past) -Nice keyboard and definetly not the worst track pad that i've used on a laptop -Very good laptop for school, work, light editing and light gaming etc... Cons: -This laptop gets bogged down if you ket it fall behind even one system update or driver update (as long as it's up to date it shouldn't pose a prolem) -If you are looking for a gaming laptop, this is not it. There are far better ones near or in this price point if thats the route your looking for. -Components are not future proof and not very upgradeable unless you know how to work on laptops. Even if you do for the money youd have to put into it, your better off buying a new one Overall: It's a solid laptop that will do what you need it to do if you are realistic about it's capabilities. Its not the fatest or the slowest laptop in the word but it works well, it has a nice interface and is backed by a good companies reputation and build quality.
