Customers are saying

Customers love the Legion Pro 5i 16" Gaming Laptop's performance, graphics, and ample RAM and storage. Many appreciate the display and find the price reasonable for the specifications. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and the fan noise and heat generation are potential drawbacks for certain users. The weight may also be a concern for those who need a highly portable laptop.

Keyboard colors are out of control

I really haven't been able to do much with this. I have spent 3 weeks trying to get the keyboard background colors to work right and they don't. They have special Lenovo Vantage software that use a program called Spectrum to customize keyboard background colors. Well, it doesn't work. My keyboard defaults to the keys changing colors from right to left in waves. The spectrum software will work 1 time only and then not work if you try to use it again. The colors that you are able to set with Spectrum last until you reboot the computer, then they go back to the original default colors. I called Lenovo and they have not been able to fix it. It has done this since I bought the laptop. Lenovo support reinstalled windows and deleted all of my apps that I spent 3 weeks getting installed. Now I have to start all over from scratch and the keyboard still does not work. I have not been able to do much more than install apps and try to get my keyboard to work right. I tried to ignore the keyboard but flashing colors like strobe light is not what I would call a pleasing working environment. I wish Lenovo could fix their keyboard. I might have to take it back to bestbuy. I have not been able to check it out to see if it can do anything cool yet. So sad and frustrating.

Good laptop if you keep it plugged in

Battery life is pretty poor. I get between 90-120 minutes of work done before needing to get plugged in. The lenovo bloatware that comes on the fresh install is annoying to get rid of. Plenty of processing power and pretty good gaming quality. Overall I like the laptop, just wish I didn’t have to carry around the 300w charger everywhere.

      Hey Dadvibes,

Thank you for choosing Lenovo and for sharing your feedback with us. Although, we apologize that your Legion Pro 5i has missed your expectations with battery life. We'd like to work with you to resolve this.

We believe that by finding ways to increase battery life that your experience should improve. First, for context, as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery and in gaming laptops that can increase even more due to their high-powered processors and graphics cards.

Now, if you want to squeeze out more battery life and are completing non-intensive graphics tasks, you can utilize the MUX switch built into this model to turn off the GPU to greatly decrease power draw. This can be done in the Lenovo Vantage app > top right box > GPU working mode, then choosing your preferred method. Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words, along with custom settings configurable in Lenovo Vantage. You could also press the Fn + R key combo to toggle to a lower refresh rate for even more power conservation.

Please feel free to reach out to us should you have any questions or need further assistance.

A decent laptop, especially catching it on sale. Best Buy's terrible customer service did diminish my overall impression of the product.

Its nice i like it so far its just the fact that i have to stay close to an outlet in order to ensure it doesnt die fast. I need it for the justice system and dealing with allot of files and editing i needed something that could handle the request. But i didnt know it came with such a limitation. But it works for what i need i did upgrade ram.

The first laptop died during use. I took it back but it could not be repaired. Best Buy replaced it with new one. So far it is working well.
