Customers are saying
Customers love the Legion Pro 5i 16" Gaming Laptop's performance, graphics, and ample RAM and storage. Many appreciate the display and find the price reasonable for the specifications. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and the fan noise and heat generation are potential drawbacks for certain users. The weight may also be a concern for those who need a highly portable laptop.

Sweet deal
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.More reliably a gaming laptop, it runs the newest B06 at around 100-150fps, fortnite most of the time at 165 (near medium) settings. Runs a bit hot during intensive games. Battery will get test your ability to do any productivity tasks w/o being plugged in. Overall, great laptop for gaming, battery is sub-par buts its a gaming laptop....

Good gaming laptop
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great gaming laptop but I think for the price the only problem is the battery life it needs to be plugged up to play most games if not it will lag which is common with gaming laptops.

Posted .Hi EmmaB, thanks for choosing Lenovo! If you want to squeeze out more battery life and are completing non-intensive graphics tasks, we recommend utilizing the MUX switch built into this model to turn off the GPU to greatly decrease power draw. This can be done in the Lenovo Vantage app > top right box > GPU working mode, then choosing your preferred method. Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words, along with custom settings configurable in Lenovo Vantage. You could also press the Fn + R key combo to toggle to a lower refresh rate for even more power conservation. We're thrilled to hear that your Legion Pro 5i has been great for you overall, and we really appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback with us.

Misleading Storage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The item said 2TB SSD, but the laptop came with a 1TB SSD and a separate 1TB drive. I don’t like having my programs and data on two separate hard drives.

Great luggable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a 'less portable' station, and it has worked well in that role. I replace my old desktop and laptop, and there are a few things that I really like about this model. The first is the keyboard is as close to a traditional layout on the keyboard as I've seen on a recent laptop. It has a full size inverted T, and a 10key with a very traditional layout. All of the important ports are at the back of the machine, allowing for a very efficient layout. I appreciate the space afforded with the 1600p display. It performs very well, and while it is loud under load, the sound lacks the grating/piercing pitches of other machines I've used. On the other hand, I have found the wifi chipset to be lacking, with random drops and stutters when pulling down a lot of data- it has a full size ethernet port and I would recommend using it for large transfers. Expected with a machine for this size, but it is neither light nor compact, and the battery life is so-so. I appreciate that it has USC-PD as an option, but it can not pull the wattage needed to sustain heavy load from the port. Overall, the designers made mostly the same tradeoffs I would choose. For linux users, be aware that the device is only mostly supported, via open source projects.

solid laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.works perfectly and specs are decent. real world performance seems to be a little lacking compared to reviews and hardware specs, but is good enough for the price point. my only complaints are battery life. 1hr even without the video card engaged. the other issue is under load the fans are LOUD, you can hear them from across the room.

Best Buy Online Salespeople Lie
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop has good speed. I don't use it for gaming, I use it with Adobe products like Photoshop. Some video editing as well. I did think it would be slightly faster, but for the money it is unbeatable. On a separate note, be careful with Best Buy sales people online. I was told in the chat that I could get a price match if the price went down during Black Friday. Sure enough, it did go on sale and when I went to the store to get the price match, I was told open box items don't qualify for that even though I showed them a screenshot and the email of the Best Buy sales associate telling me I could. They do lie to get a sale. I no longer trust Best Buy. I even spoke to a supervisor over the phone and didn't care to even send me a token gift card, just something to make up for the misinformation I was given. I paid $188 more than if I waited a few more days. I did not include this in the rating since that does not have to do with the laptop itself.

Decent gaming laptop, or workstation if you prefer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Performs fairly well overall. V-RAM could be more robust, as only 8GB seems bottleneck performance pretty hard and lock you out of some high resolution texture packs and more advanced graphics features. 32GB of RAM is a big bonus, and this machine may become my audio editing rig sooner rather than later as it runs ProTools better than my MacBook M1 Pro w/ 16GB of RAM, purchased at the same price point. TL;DR - Decent gaming laptop with a good CPU and RAM upgrade that makes it an even better contender as a workstation for Audio or Video editing.

Thank you for choosing Lenovo and for sharing your feedback with us!
Regarding your issue with battery – as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery and in gaming laptops that can increase even more due to their high-powered processors and graphics cards. If you want to squeeze out more battery life and are completing non-intensive graphics tasks, you can utilize the MUX switch built into this model to turn off the GPU to greatly decrease power draw. This can be done in the Lenovo Vantage app > top right box > GPU working mode, then choosing your preferred method. We are glad to hear that your experience with your Legion Pro 5i has been good otherwise.

Don't Use Geek Squad
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product is excellent. However I paid Geek squad to transfer my data from existing computer to the new computer and although they claimed to have succeeded they did not. I had to take the computer to an independent computer shop to accomplish the relatively simple task of transferring data between computers. Don't waste money on Geek Squad. The price of the computer was competitive with Lenovo website.

Posted .Hi, AnthonyM. While we are thankful that you chose us, we are sorry to hear that you are having trouble. Regarding battery life, as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery life. Thankfully, many of those variables can be adjusted. By default, the system will tend to give more speed when needed, which can sacrifice battery life. If you want to squeeze out more battery life, we recommend users utilize the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled to adjust settings related to power and battery performance. Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words. This model also features a MUX switch that can be easily toggled in that same application to become even more efficient for when your RTX GPU is not needed. Your feedback has been noted and we will make the proper adjustments should it be necessary. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.

Happy with my Decision
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a fast laptop and was a good deal for it's price. Battery life is not great, but no gaming laptop really has a great battery. Compared to my previous laptop though, the battery life is doubled. It has a nice keybind allowing you to put it into a thermal/cooling/battery life mode vs a balanced mode vs an overclock mode, making it super easy to throttle it to just what you need. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and don't have any regrets yet.

Amazing!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy this laptop! The only draw back is the battery life but as someone who’s usually plugged in, it wasn’t too much of a problem for me. Such a great upgrade from my 6-year old HP Envy

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its a good computer, I use it for rendering and it does a grrst job with it. If you look at the specs its great for that price, only thing the battery can last some hours but with a gaming laptop its normal.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Admittedly a lot for gaming laptop whose GPU only has 8gb of VRAM. As long as you’re not running newer game’s at max settings, it really is a good gaming laptop.

Good Buy at a Discount, Iffier at Full Price
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Somewhat clumsy interface, and not quite the speed demon I would have imagined, but it does the trick mostly. That said, battery is useless if you use it in high performance mode and I don't think I have ever been able to take it off quiet mode because the fans just kick in for anything.
