Great keyboard. The pen is cool.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think the keyboard is the most important feature of any laptop. If you can't type the rest of the features are useless. The keyboard is really good for touch typing, there is a lot of 'travel' when you press a key. There are separate keys for page up/down and the arrows. A lot of keyboards now combine them and you need to use the function keys. This is my second Yoga and after 6+ years it was time for an upgrade. The other unit is still working I just needed more power. I love the pen. It is a good tool for some stuff. I actually didn't know there was a pen until I read a review. It is not in any of the BB photos. The sales reps in the store didn't mention it when I first went in checking out the current keyboards. The next time I was there I showed them. There is a reported problem of the unit shutting off when moved. It happened once and after 3 weeks it has not happened again.

Great all around laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great all around 2-in-1 with very little video or written reviews available online. That's probably because it's not the flashiest or sexiest laptop out there, an is easily overshadowed by other more expensive Thinkpads. I own a Macbook Pro 16" and use that as my main computer at home (32-inch monitor and peripherals), but I was looking for something smaller, less expensive, and mobile for my work. I also have an LTE iPad Air 3 with the new Logitech trackpad keyboard, but as much as I want to love that device for taking to work sites, iPadOS just makes it unusable for me because it doesn't run full Microsoft Office. I need to be able to lock/unlock spreadsheets among other small but mandatory tasks for my workflow that are just not available on the mobile versions. Quickly adding multiple attachments to an email in outlook just challenges your patience. Until an iPad can run full desktop MS Office (for those of us that need all the functionality of full MS Office), it's still just an oversized iPhone. A few things that were must-haves in my search where: 1) Windows tablet or 2-in-1 with stylus support (in-site note taking), at least 8GB of RAM (need to multitask), preferably 256 GB SSD, USB-C charging (for mobile charger), under $1000. I have always loved (and owned) surface pro devices. I first bought a Surface Go 2 (M3 version) and thought that would be the perfect device, but once I got my hands on it I realized the form factor did not justify the near $1,000 cost with keyboard and stylus for the amount of power. My first few Zoom calls were a bit frustrating with multi-tasking and screen sharing. I did love the form factor and portability, just not the cost that went with it when you added the keyboard and stylus. I then found an open-box 256GB surface pro 7 with type cover for $798 and I thought that would be the best device for me. Like the Surface Go, I have always loved the Surface Pro but reliability had been an issue for me in the past. So I thought maybe now my luck may have changed, but the Surface Pro 7 suffered from issues with the processor throttling under minor load with excel, staying below 1GHz and stuttering severely. As nice as the passive cooling is for being quiet, that also makes it slow down during sustained loads. All updates installed and I even refreshed the device but nothing, the Pro had to go back. Then I found the L13 Yoga on sale and went for it. This device has everything I was looking for. No, it's not as portable as the Surface Go 2, or as light and portable as the Surface Pro 7, or is the screen also not as high resolution and bright (+400 nits) as both of those devices. BUT, for around $600 on sale, it has better battery life, charges via USB-C, better performance on sustained loads due to active cooling, has an included stylus that docks and charges in the device, and meets military specifications for durability. All this for just north of 3lbs. Yes, as others have noted it gets hot, particularly in one spot near the processor, but I rarely use a laptop on my lap so it's not an issue for me. Also, the fan is not very loud. For a mobile professional like me, this has an HDMI port for presentations, two USB-A, two USB-C, and a micro SD card slot. The built-in pen is small and not the most comfortable size for taking notes for a long time, but it's built-in and charges in the device so hard to lose it. I can always buy a larger Wacom pen and still be substantially less costly than the other two devices. The Thinkpad trackpoint and physical mouse buttons are an added bonus but have to get used to using them. Battery life has been about 6.5 hours with brightness at 50% and better performance setting on windows (running email and office programs and occasional Zoom call and online videos). I got about 6 hours on the Surface Go 2 and 4.5 hours on the Surface Pro 7 with similar settings and similar work loads. The Surface Pro 7 had terrible battery life. The fast charging works, getting to about 80% in less than an hour. It charges from my powerbank with 30watt USB-C PD. The screen is bright enough for me, though I wish it was brighter, but again, it's ok given other things it brings to the table for the cost. At 125% scaling for the 1080p display, I get about the same workspace as the Surface Pro at a comfortable scaling setting. Also has instant-on similar to the surface devices. I highly recommend this product at the full price of 899 over the other two products I compared. At 699 or better with a student discount, it's a no brainer.

After a long search...this is the winner!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been searching for a laptop to use for work and personal use. I tried everything from Dell Inspiron and XPS, HP Spectre x360, Lenovo c930 and surface laptop 3. I finally decided to give the Thinkpad a try even though I initially did not love the looks of a Thinkpad. Well, that has changed! I enjoy using this laptop and is amazing to use. I have the ports I need, the screen is great and does not have a ton of glare (c930, surface, and HP were bad with screen glare). The battery is great for my needs, I am able to get 6-8 hours of screen time and the fact that I can charge via USB-C is fantastic as I can use a power charging brick. The new i5 10th gen processor is fast, snappy and perfect for productivity work and anything that I have thrown at it has worked perfectly. The laptop can probably handle more than I have thrown at it and makes it future proof to me. The RAM for my needs is enough as I do not use this laptop for gaming or photo or video editing. The best part of this laptop is the keyboard! It is an absolute joy to type on this machine. That was my biggest pain point with all of the other laptops. The ultrabook laptops just had inadequate keyboard for anyone that types papers, spreadsheets, word docs or sends tons of emails. While the laptop does not have Windows hello, the fingerprint reader is more than adequate for logging in. My one complaint and it is very minor would be the chin that the laptop has. I would like to see that reduced in future models. However, I know that they leave a chin that size when using it as a tablet. Overall, this is an amazing laptop and would recommend to anyone wanting a laptop that just gets work done. It's not fancy, it's not glamourous but it gets the job done amazingly perfect. I will now use ThinkPads from now on and not look at any other model or brand of laptop.,

It's a ThinkPad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Less expensive and better than the X1. I bought an X1 a year ago. The screen became damaged and the touch screen no longer works. Given the price of repair, buying a new laptop a more viable option. I weighed many options and almost bought them online, but after two visits to Best Buy and the support of the sales people decided on this. There really is something to be said about seeing things in person. I absolutely love how the pen on this has a little nesting place, and unlike other products the pen comes with it (as well as the keyboard). This feels like the good old ThinkPad that I used 20 years ago with all the functionality of the best computers on the market. It's a bit thicker (AKA more solid) than some other options. When my X1 screen broke I took it to a local shop and they said "most people only buy one touch screen" That is because they break and are not worth the extra expense. You really need to ask yourself what you need. If you need a touch screen and are going to annotate with a stylus then this is a great choice (I'm a teacher and need the stylus when I teach math.) It is better (in my humble opinion) than the X1 (Thinner, slightly larger, and more fragile, fingerprint ID also broke). BUT I think it might be best to also purchase the insurance on this. I purchased an open box saving $150 and the Best Buy Service for $250. I think that is a bargain. It is good to know that I will have a working laptop 3 years from now. To conclude this feels like a good old ThinkPad solid, mayb a bit clunky, and you can see the smudges of oils of the user. But it is a personal computer after all.

Everything I Needed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being recently displaced by work and all things professional and personal being tied to my work laptop I needed a personal laptop to start the next chapter of my life. I opted for a system that I was familiar with so thought I would try the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 and thus far have not been disappointed. Especially with snazzy feature of 2 in 1 (although I'll be honest, haven't tried the touchscreen feature much yet . . . guess I'm a bit old fashioned.) Quick speed and some great new features that I'm still exploring. Wish it had a little more storage but have only used half so far and know that I can add more if I absolutely need to. Would recommend.

Great 2-in1 Laptop for Me
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great 2-in-1 laptop for me. First let me start out with one single con for me...I enabled Ctrl-Alt-Del but the physical keys are swapped. The "Fn" is placed first then the "Ctrl". Even though there is the "Lenovo Keyboard Manager" app to virtually swap their places, it will take sometime to get used to. Speaking about Ctrl-Alt-Del, it would be nice if Lenovo put the volume keys on the side so when the laptop is in the tablet mode, Ctrl-Alt-Del can be done by pressing the power button and either the volume up or down key. Beside one con I have above, I really like the laptop. Battery: I mainly use MS Office, web browser and Sling, it lasts between 6 to 7 hours. A/C adapter: USB-C and it charges pretty fast. Keyboard: great travel speed and I have no issue. Plus it's lighted. Trackpad/trackpoint: great size and accurate. I don't use the trackpoint but it's a plus. Ports: plenty of ports but do wish they include the "normal" ethernet port. Stylus/pen: this is one of the main reason I went for this. It's rechargeable and garaged in its dedicated slot. When not in use, it's tucked away nicely. I'm not an artist. I use the pen mainly to sign pdfs, etc... One little nice touch, when the laptop is on, the dot above the i on the ThinkPad emblem on the lid lights up.

Newer Model is Better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a legit workhorse, but the ram is not upgradable and the processor is the older of the i5 versions. The newer version with Iris Xe graphics and i5 11 is much faster and brighter. The shell is also a fingerprint magnet and I didn't like the glowing ibm logo on the lid. For a thinkpad this was a good price with lots of ports and i loved the idea of a garaged pen. I also heard the battery doesn't hold charge long so I returned it.

Good for online learning
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for virtual learning. Quick to boot up and load programs. Easy to use. Durable enough to survive an elementary student. Touch screen a good option, with storable stylus pen. Folds flat open, though no protection of the keyboard on the back when used as a 'tablet'. On the expensive side.

Posted .Once again, thank you for choosing the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga for your sister. This computer can continue running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. Lenovo ThinkPad is a great laptop
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchasing a computer can be a trying experience. I wanted a big computer then I found out it was too heavy so I got a smaller one. I liked the silver keyboard, but then I had a hard time reading the keys. A black keyboard with backlights ended up working out better. Why did I need a touchscreen? I found out that was a very handy thing to have. Kids often need to use a touchscreen too when doing their homework. Needless to say, I bought one computer but took it back because of these concerns. When I went back to the store for take two, I got a sharp young salesman who really knew his computers. While I thought Thinkpads were a thing of the past, this Lenovo fit exactly what I needed. With the Geek Squad setting it up I was good to go and never looked back.

Buy this if you want to get things done!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An outstanding all-around computer! This thing is a productivity beast. The i5 processor performs like a champ, the 8GB RAM might sound slight on paper but it never feels like this computer is struggling to process things. I've only had the computer for a few days, but I can already tell this is going to be one of my all-time favorites. The 256 GB hard drive seems like it will be ample to get things done, and you can always add to your storage thanks to the Micro SD slot. I honestly am not sure if the hard drive is swappable. This thing is built very well. The metal display back and plastic body both feel very durable and sturdy, and the keyboard is EXCELLENT. Great key travel and just the right amount of resistance, it just feels great on the fingertips. The track pad is great, very responsive, and having the classic Thinkpad nub is a great touch because it is much more enjoyable to use when scrolling documents or the Web, it's much more accurate and you can scroll smoothly and continuously without having to move your hand much. The included active stylus is a VERY NICE touch, and while it may not have quite the finesse of a Surface Pen, after the firmware upgrade (don't neglect to do it!) it is extremely accurate and functional. It's a plus that the computer charges the stylus so you don't have to worry about replacing any batteries. There are more than enough ports, 2 USB A and 2 USB C, and it charges very quickly through USB C. It also has a full HDMI port and even LAN connectivity if you get the adapter. The fingerprint sensor is cool, I actually prefer it to the camera-based Windows Hello, which tends to be glitchy even on Surface devices if the lighting is not right. Everything about this laptop just works if you need your computer for your job or even just to do light productivity tasks for yourself. It has more than enough power to do photo editing or light video editing even without dedicated graphics, too. I highly recommend this device. It's just a joy to use and you don't feel like you have to baby it.

Good Starter Lenovo Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice laptop and good for general use. It’s a good intro into Lenovo 2-in-1 laptops. However, I did decide to return it for an upgraded X1 model after using it for 1 day. The screen size was a little smaller than I anticipated, and when using the laptop in your lap the device gets a little hot and becomes uncomfortable (other reviewers mentioned this issue but I was hoping it was an isolated problem in a few devices). I am not sure if it heats up the same on an actual surface, but having to sit the device on something to keep your thighs from burning can be slightly annoying. Some good qualities are the pre-installed webcam cover and stylus. It is flexible and lightweight, and loads fast. With coupons or on sale, it is a decent purchase/investment and you can rarely go wrong with Lenovo products.

Having the stylus makes it easy to use when my hands are not clean enough to touch the screen or keyboard. Going to buy another just for the shop.
