    Great washing machine

Great Washing machine!! Got this with the matching dryer when they were on sale for just a little more $$ than buying new cheap units. Coming from a cheap 10 year old GE set these are faster, quieter and smart! Well worth stepping up in cost. I connected to the LG ThinQ app and get notifications on my phone when laundry is done. Although I mostly use the normal settings, they are customizable and you can even download different settings to the unit through the app. You can even customize the built in settings if you choose to make them a little different. For example Normal is defaulted to use warm water but my wife prefers cold so I was able to change the normal setting to use cold instead without needing to change this setting every wash. It is connected to the dryer for an AI feature where it can supposedly detect the fabric type, use appropriate settings then give a recommended settings to the dryer but I have not tried it out yet. It is very good at sensing, measuring and monitoring the load to use the correct amount of water and soap without you needing to select that yourself. It is ridiculous quiet, so much so you can barely hear it spinning yet it spins so fast the clothes are barely damp when ready for the dryer. Very efficient. Even though it’s almost the same size as the old cheap washer it holds A LOT more. For size, style, price, performance and features these were in our sweet spot vs other brands. I have been a fan of LG for a long time for TVs and other electronics so had no reservation giving their appliances a try. We have been so impressed we will be looking at LG appliances for our kitchen renovation too.

    Poor installation

Just had both washer and dryer installed. Unfortunately the dryer vent hose kit was not secured to the dryer, but just placed in position. Also the vent was smashed a bit due to them placing it into position. The power cord to the dryer was not secured properly to the dryer and was free hanging. Only noticed because it got warm in the washroom while the tech said to run it for the first time to burn off any oils, by than they had left.

Great top loader. Been doing loads for 4 days laundry stacking up. Easy to use like the ai that usually adjusted time down after starting. Once it's added time. Also very quiet even at the high spin end.

Coming from a front load washer I was nervous of what I heard about top loaders being harsh on clothes and whatnot but I can say this has been a great purchase! The ease of use with the app feature is amazing and being able to track when to clean and schedule washes has been great. The look and style is nice and haven’t had an issue yet. It does suck with energy saving washers that most cycles automatically use the least amount of water but there are features to make sure you get the right amount and can really get those dirty clothes clean. I’ve slowly been switching my appliances over to LG and life is good.

After using a front loader for years, this washer was a welcomed change. We felt the front loader wasn’t quite getting clothes clean, this proved us right! Cleans extremely well and can handle extra large loads.

My old Samsung front loader broke and would not balance properly. The estimate to fix is not cost effective based on the age of the washer. My experience with Samsung appliances has not been a good one over the years and the washer is the last to go. Luckily it is Black Friday. After researching and reviews I purchased the LG WT8405CB washer and matching dryer from BB. I decided no more front load washers and went back to a top load agitator. So far so good. BB installation was on time and no issues. The two man crew are professional and took care with the install not to damage the product or walls and floors. I ran the first load empty with detergent as instructed to remove any manufacturing residue. Some have complained about top loaders not balancing the loads as well as front loaders. This is not the case for me. My first full load of towels on Normal went well. On this setting the washer will adjust time + or - as well as water level based on the detected load amount. This is the setting I used on my front loader and wanted to compare. At first I saw the water fill, stop, and washing started and the water didn't seem enough to cover the towels. Then in a few minutes the washer started adding more water submerging the towels. I assume this process is to get the towels wet sinking them down so it knows how much more water to add without over adding. The spin cycle went well with no more vibration than a properly functioning front loader. The spin was not "noisy" and did not "walk" the washer across the floor. Keep in mind that a front loader is about 70-80 pounds heavier than a top loader. This extra weight helps with noise and vibration. The LG did not vibrate any more than my front loader before it broke. As for the washing, the top loader is somewhat noisier, due to the different sounds of the back and forth of the agitator sloshing and motor. The most noise is from the drain pump while draining. I sit in my front room about 20 feet from the washer with the laundry room door open. I could not hear the laundry washing while watching TV, but can hear the end of wash tone playing. The end result was the wash completed in about the same time as the front loader (55 to 60 min). The towels came out as dry and just as clean as the front loader. One other point of note; the detergent tray. Some say its cheap. Meh! It is no worse than others and it functions. My only complaint, I got the black model as I do not like the "Orca" look of the white model. With the black model, the detergent tray is ALL matte black. This makes it hard to see to pour the right amounts without overfilling. Also, being all black will makes it hard to detect any mold over time. LG, if you are monitoring, the dispenser tray should be white like the white model, but with a black face. Mold will grow in the bottom recesses of these dispensers over time and will require brush cleaning with bleach. Luckily the tray is smaller, flatter, and less complicated than the front loader setup. This will make it more easy to just soak the entire tray in a small container or sink. I also found the shelf that the tray inserts into, holds water. For some reason the bottom of the shelf is level not angled down so water will roll off. At least it is white. LG says it is normal for some water to be left in the tray. This is the same with front loaders. However, I do find the amount is more than it should be compared to my front loader. I just wipe the shelf with a dish wash cloth so not to dump water into the drum and dry before putting the tray back in. If water does spill into the drum, just run the Spin Only Cycle for about 2-3 min, as that will drain the excess water out. I leave the tray partially open and the lid up until the next wash to let the washer completely air dry. This is habit from the front loader, as front loaders always have sitting water left behind internally; hence the need for a drain tube. What they don't tell you is you should drain these front loaders every wash day, not just when the filter needs cleaning. Standing water promotes mold and smell, hence the con for front loaders. I have not tried out the features via Wi-Fi. I will try it out at some point to see what options I can change, but Wi-Fi is not needed just to do the wash. I am security conscious with some IT background and NO "IoT" devices are secure if connected to the internet. If you use the Wi-Fi of these devices, at least put them on your guest network and not your main network. Overall, both the washer and dryer are smart looking and fit well in my small laundry room. So far (1 month), quality appears to be there; time will tell. The pair do its job well and I am satisfied with the performance. I'm off to a good start, so at this time I do recommend this product. If trouble occurs in the future, I will update this review.

Very user friendly but still offers a variety of high tech options. Very sleek appearance. I had a lot of issues with sensing issues with my previous top loading washer and so far I have had no issues with this one! Seems to clean clothes great and dry clothes in efficient manner. Received an excellent deal during Memorial Day promotion. The Geek squad installers were also excellent! Super friendly and showed us how to use it before leaving!

This washer got excellent ratings by Consumer Reports. That is what led me to purchase this. Although the washer has an agitator, it is still huge and can accommodate large amounts of laundry. The price was very competitive. I was thinking of this model with the agitator or the nearly identical model with the impeller. Both were top picks by CR.

I have been a Maytag washer and dryer owner for 30 years. Unfortunately we gave our original Maytag’s away when the home we moved into had a newer model Maytags. When we moved again the new destination included appliances but we replaced the washer and dryer with new Maytags about 3 years ago. However, this time the Maytag washer was a real dog. We had service out twice and despite their efforts the washer continued to display a LoFlo error. These errors occurred every week and we found that we could reset the washer by unplugging and plugging again. This was faster than having service come out and do nothing. Even though we had 2 more years of warranty left our frustration with Maytag and service peaked and we decided to replace with a LG. I read reviews which indicated they appear to be the most reliable brand. Best Buy had a sale and I purchased a new washer and dryer from the website which included installation. We favored a top load because bending for the front load was a source of complaint from my wife and kids. The LG top load is easy to operate and the 5.3 cu ft is large enough for our huge amounts of laundry. The only pain point and it is minor, is the washer is loud. Really loud. We had not had an agitator for many years and had forgotten that agitators back and forth movement is associated with more noise. However, I am not convinced that a top load without an agitator can really clean soiled clothes so the noise on laundry day is acceptable. It is strange that the unit does not have a delicate cycle on the dial of options. The manual states that delicate cycle can be accessed from the Downloaded option on the unit. To me that is simply weird. Why do that? The Wi-Fi functionality is something that is not really necessary. We have used it but still wondering what real value is found in that. Seems like a novelty looking for a real reason. We have used the AI cycle and so far that seems easy as it self determines which cycle to use on it own. So far so good. After a few weeks no problems encountered which is something I could not say about the Maytag experience. By this time we were already waiting for service call. Let’s hope the hype over positive LG reliability holds true At this point the family is comfortable with the new machine, clothes are clean and no errors.

I haven't had it very long, but so far I love it. It gets my clothes clean, runs quietly (much quieter than my previous machine), and uses minimal water (unless I select the option for filling the tub). It is larger than I thought it would be, which is great. I'll update down the road after it's been used for a while.

I had lots of problems with previous washers where the machine almost walked out the door and the rinsing was horrible. This machine is fabulous! It balances automatically to avoid me chasing the machine when it spins and the center mechanism does a great job in ensuring it is properly washing the clothes. The machine is deep so if you're short like me, you will have to get on your toes to get the stuff out but otherwise, I LOVE IT!
