A Great Washer You Should Buy With Some Quirks
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an outstanding appliance. It's fun to watch it sense the water level it needs, and to get texts and status via the LG app. If you find out that you selected the wrong mode, you can turn it off through the app. Any quirks or tips listed in this review should not detract you from buying this washer. They are just FYI. The Blue Ball, or as I call it, the Magic Blue Ball, is for the rinse cycle. It allows targeting that the general rinse cannot do. It is not used on all cycles. Be careful with towels. The sensing will pick a low water level which makes sense, but the towels will absorb all the water. LG recommends, and I agree that you should use the pre-rinse + normal mode, which fills up the tub. When you turn on the machine, a bizarre bug to look out for is that it appears to go into normal mode, which is probably true, but the control panel is blank. If you move the dial to the left, it stays in normal mode without the indicator changing, and the control panel comes on so you can modify the cycle. Both this and the matching dryer are skimpy on choices for the modifiers and inconsistent. You can select the cold wash option in normal mode but not in pre-rinse normal. You can change it to cold manually in that mode, but it seems a bit stern. THE THING IS A BEAST as far as load size. I'm single and wash less because I feel embarrassed with how much room is left for more clothes. I am 5' 7," and I have to rotate the drum by hand because I can't grab clothes that are on the other side to take them out after the cycle. So I feel that this is a plus, but if you are shorter, you may need a grabber and maybe a stool. I have been so excited about this washer that people have told me to stop talking about it. That's a pretty big endorsement from me. A Great Washer You Should Buy With Some Quirks

Great washing machine!!lots of options!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent washing machine very quite ! Lots of options! Quick wash and long washing for husband dirty mechanic clothes! First time they come out clean n smelling fresh! Holds a lot of clothes . I’m 5’2 but can reach to the bottom of the machine. I wanted a machine to handle any size of loads ! I highly recommend getting this washing machine!! Also the lid does not just fall it is a slow closing lid very quite.

Big loads. Flexibility. Lacks documentation.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had it about a week. So far, so good. Price was right (on sale), ordered online, delivery was quick and on time, Delivery guys were competent, respectful, professional. 5.5 cubic feet is giant inside. Quiet enough operation. Plays jaunty 8bit chiptunes, my kids think the ice cream man is coming. Wash cycles seem long but might be my imagination. Washer came with a generic manual for all machines in the series, wasn't much use. Found the model-specific one here, much more info about cycles, icons, sounds, etc: https://manualsfile.com/download/j2aaaszfl.html

Great machine, almost perfect!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washing machine really does the job. This is my first washer without an agitator, and I was worried soiled clothing wouldn't get clean. So much so, that I tested the capability by intentionally soiling a few wash rags with liberal amounts of dust/grime from around my patio furniture and ran the "normal" cycle with a modest amount of detergent. The items came out perfectly clean. The bottom of the wash drum spins independently from the walls, which does agitate the items in the drum very well. Additionally, the bottom portion of the drum features holes or perforations that seem to be directly coupled to a pump that forces "jets" of water upward as the bottom of the drum spins in the opposite direction as the rest of the drum, further agitating the items being washed. The result is a somewhat magical twist of the items that are at the bottom of the drum and most likely explains why the items are cleaned so well. For extremely bulky items like comforters or large blankets, I do notice that the machine struggles to get the fabric circulating so the top is forced to the bottom, where the mechanical "magic" happens. I would suggest smaller loads, as the machine is able to "toss" the items around more effectively. The larger the load, the more risk there is that some items may not spend enough time at the bottom of the drum where the agitation is the most effective. The auto-sensing features seem to work well. I've never seen the machine fail to apply the necessary amount of water like some cheaper options do, and the rinse cycle uses a special nozzle that sprays the clothing as it spins in the drum, forcing rinse water through the fabrics before it's spun outward and through the drain holes in the side of the drum - a really well thought-out design feature that makes perfect sense, as compared to filling the drum with a large amount of water and simply draining it after more agitation. The final spin cycle is also impressive. The drum spins so fast the clothing is almost completely dry when the cycle is complete. I'm sure this helps LG achieve "High Efficiency" standards, because the dryer doesn't need to apply much effort to finish drying the clothes after being washed - they're barely damp afterwards. The only drawback I've noticed is the loudness of the "transmission" changing "gears" when the drum needs to spin at a higher RPM (like for a rinse cycle, for example). Because the sides and the bottom of the drum twist and turn at different times and speeds, the machine uses a sort of "transmission" that "locks" the drum sides and bottom together so they spin at the same speed when necessary. When this "locking" procedure happens, it sound like a metal pin is being forced against a solid metal drum to lock the two pieces together, and is pretty loud compared to the rest of the mechanical sounds you'd find typical in a washing machine. It hasn't caused any problems, and is probably just the result of low-cost mechanical tolerances typical of any consumer grade washing machine, but it does strike me as noticeable and does worry me about longevity. If that pin or the hole it's being mated to are being jammed together, one of them is bound to wear out eventually - I'm just worried it might happen sooner than anything else would fail, but have no way of knowing. Overall, I'm very pleased with this machine's capability. I've used it daily for just about a year now and have never had any issues or questionable success.

Love it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love our washer. It’s much more efficient than our old model that we had for 12 years. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars are: It’s big which we wanted, but it’s so tall that I can hardly reach inside to get the laundry out. I’m 5’4” so if you’re taller I’m sure you’ll be fine. Last is the app. I can’t seem to get it correct to setup for remote start etc. Honesty I haven’t tried again & calling customer service would probably help.

Best Buy Outlet is a Life Saver
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washer is incredible. Even more incredible since I got it at the Best Buy Outlet for 1/4 of the price! The drum is large enough for even our largest comforter and the monthly report that it sends is actually really helpful. It tracks the number of cycles and whether there are any issues. Plus I can start and track the washer from anywhere with the app. Great build quality and it is easy to understand. We'll see how it holds up since the last washer I bought (Samsung from Best Buy) lasted only 3 years before it up and died.

I had my reservation about not having an agitator but all my concerns went away one I did a load. Any hesitation…. Don’t. It’s truly a great buy. Not to mention the app is convenient too.

Washer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am enjoying my top load washer. The many features are great. I like the options for washing bedding. It runs guilty and very efficient. It determines the amount of water to use based on the amount of clothes. The tub is huge. The softener dandy detergent dispenser are convenient and the Clorox dispenser is large enough so liquid want spill on to the metal and cause it to corrode like older models.

Soooo Very Happy!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s been a couple of weeks and I have to say I am so pleasantly surprised by this machine! I of course read a ridiculous amount of info on washers and dryers before deciding on this one and the matching dryer! So I’ll break down the pros and cons IMO- Pros- Capacity - WOW - seriously you can double the loads amount from a standard size - so for our family of 6 this has drastically reduced the amount of washing from our previous 4.2 cubic ft Functions- SO MANY there are many options to choose from- My favorite so far are the turbo, soak and whites - each is different and I can say each cycle cleans well! I was super nervous coming from a front loader and switching to top with no agitator! The technology seems to be there though! Stainless drum- the washer has NO SMELL- it’s so nice to have all metal and it’s so clean! I come from a broken LG front loader that lasted close to 13 years! That gasket was constantly grossing me out- it was reason enough to switch to top loader! No more cleaning that ring! Cons- I wish LG had the tap button to manually add water like the whirlpools- but the whirlpools ratings were half that of the LG and my last LG lasted so long I feel like this feature was worth giving up! I do wish the detergent dispenser was a little easier- I don’t know where they could move it I guess, but it is like all of the top loaders right under the door and it’s just a little tight to me! Total 1st world stupid - not even really a con- That’s it for me- and I have to say the install through Best Buy was perfect! The guys were polite and respectful! They did a stellar job and were so quick but super efficient and detailed! Ooh one last thing- I’m super short at 5’ and have NO trouble getting clothes out! Some said it was too deep? I find it perfectly easy to get clothing out!

Great upgrade!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can wash all of my king size sheets and comforter with room to spare. It does have the water saver on it but you can easily change the settings for a heavy load or add the extra water feature if you feel it needs a deeper wash. It has so many extra features I will probably never use but I am so happy with the set I bought!

Great new washer
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't planning to purchase a new washer until my older one quit working. Now I'm so happy to have this new LG washer! I definitely prefer the top loading to the front loading (no more falls out onto the floor while loading). A lot larger capacity than the last one even though it was called large. It is so large that as a very short person, I stand on a little stool to reach the bottom. I can was a very small or very large load, no problem. I love that my towels come out much more soft and fluffy now. I think the soap rinses out better. Delivery and follow up was easy and complete.

Day one - Not impressed
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We received our LG top load HE washing machine this morning. Day one: First wash was a a load of kids clothes, about a half full tub. Result was regular. No issues. Full cycle completed in about an hour. Seond wash: 3 light blankets, each just smaller than a twin size bed cover. I used the bedding cycle. Result: Finished cycle in about an hour BUT the spin cycle was automatically set to medium spin. The result was semi dry blankets and I'm having to use high heat with extra drying time in our dryer. In the end the blankets were not fully clean. Third wash: 8 bath towels using bedding cycle. The wash cycle was normal. The rinse cycle was not. This is where the machine began to struggle. The rinse cycle filled the 5.5 cubic foot tub completely a total of 2 separate times. That's alot of water for one wash! Then came the spin cycle. The spin cycle for 8 saturated bath towels was automatically set to low speed!!!. After the end of the wash the 8 towels were too wet to place in the dryer, SO I ran an additional spin cycle on high speed. The machine did not allow me to use the extra high speed option. After the end of this extra spin cycle, my 8 bath towels are still not ready for the dryer. SO, I run a third spin cycle, on high-my only allowed option other than low spin. Third cycle completes and the result is that I'm going to have to use extra drying time and high temp with our dryer because the towels are still not that much dry. I had to stand by the machine during the spin cycle to make corrections such as load balancing. The towels took over 2 hours, closer to 3 to complete the wash. As far as efficiency, this machine failed miserably with the towels wash. I replaced this new washer with a similar but older LG model.. probably about 10 years older. Comparing both machines I noticed that both have a similar tub design and both have tub parts that spin in opposite directions during the wash BUT while this new machine is sold under a Turbowash 3D label, the old machine does not label as such but spins exactly the same. My old LG was too small and I had balancing issues so I decided to upgrade to a larger LG. This newer machine has inherited the same issues as my old model. Next step: We will wash more loads and if the problems persist and we are using more than one tub full of water per wash, and heavy loads spin in low to medium speed, and if we have to stand by the machine to assist with each rinse and spin cycle, we will be returning this appliance and will look at a front loading machine instead. I'm giving it a 3 star rating, but just shy of a 2 star rating because of the similarities with issues between this new machine and my older LG.

Love it!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love our new washing machine everything smells better it comes out cleaner it is so amazing we can do the large loads stuff comes out very close to dry before it even goes into the dryer. Sometimes on the more dirty or bigger loads are use the deep wash function and add water so there’s a little more room for the clothes to agitate in water instead of just like the bare minimum but I’ve had no problems so far.

Pretty good. Current quality is disposable.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new LG washer has some of the same design issues that my old LG had and the exterior case on that one rusted out in about 5 years. You have to be super careful adding bleach, because if it splashes out of the small plastic well, it breaks down the surrounding paint and metal. Not a great design. LG is also prone to Excessive fault codes, particularly for uneven loads. I have had all of the main brands and none of them are really made to last anymore. This is one is fairly quiet.
