Excellent LCD TV.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I followed the Consumer Reports calibration guide for the TV, although turned off all motion smoothing, and I have to say it's pretty awesome. The picture is vibrant and the only regret I have is I may have gone a little too big for a bedroom (although the wife did say "go big or go home" :) ). The local dimming takes a little while to get used to compared to my older 55" LG 4K that doesn't have it, but I may turn that off down the road. The only ding I will give the TV, and it's not enough to warrant losing a star, is the sound is very hard to get consistent. I have been through every menu and tried lots of combinations of options (turnign stabaliazation or whatever they call it on and off, etc...) and I still have an issue where voices are very quiet but music is very loud. This is a problem as we have this in our bedroom, and I'm usualy trying to watch it when my wife is sleeping. I haven't given up hope I will figure it out, but worse case scenario is I ditch the integrated sound and go with something external (I shouldn't have to though).

Great TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ended up taking it back and exchanging for the 65” model with the same specs. Love that it supports both formats of HDR Incase one of them goes away (ala Beta and HD DVD). Use my new Apple TV 4K and get outstanding picture quality with it in 4K. The only negative is the remote input configuration doesn’t work well with most cable boxes, a small nuisance, but something I’m willing to deal with. Got the 240 refresh rate for sports and gaming.

Amazing TV BUT....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV i had my eye on for a year. After lots of research, i found a better price on Amazon and bestbuy matched it. I was stoked. I was happy. I couldn't wait to get home and show my wife and kids. We opened the box and put everything together. Set it on the entertainment center and plugged it in. Then the horror. A nice thin GREEN LINE running down the middle of the beautiful 55' screen. I could've cried. My wife could've cried. I called LG and they were going to send out a technician. The next day I thought, "Niw my NEW TV becomes REFURBISHED and if you replace an engine, its just a matter of time when something else goes. Make sure to test product before you buy. Has best picture I've ever seen. Best sound on a tv I've ever heard. I'm heartbroken.

Auto Programing Made Easy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture as I was coming from a very dated Plasm TV. The black and white levels are close to OLED and if you are looking to save money I would go with this TV. You will need help to set it up at the 55 model but it’s not heavy. Updating the software over Wi-Fi was easy. I like that it found my cable box and provider on its own and then programed itself to my cable remote control.

Amazing tv without breaking the bank
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Without a doubt this Tv is definitely one of LG's best models to be made giving you instant access to a beautiful 4K picture and outstanding Active HDR with Dolby Vision to give an overall amazing performance. The blacks on this tv are top notch without going with an OLED and I would definitely recommend this to a friend or family member.

LG-SJ8500 series TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had no Issues with this TV until about 3 years in when it started to get these small lines running through the screen. It gradually got worse and by year 4i had BB come out to assess it as I bought a 5 year full coverage protection plan with the TV. They determined they weren't going to fix it and they wind up giving me $750 towers a new TV &v that was already in the 4th year of the 5 year protection plan. I got that TV for a steal on black Fri new (open box) so having gotten $759 towards a new TV was great and i wound up buying a top of the line Sony Master Series OLED TV. Once again i got the new TV for a crazy cheap price and had the $759 to it towards it. It was online for $2299.00 but it was on a flash 1 time 8 hr sale for 8 hours sight unseen, but i couldn't refuse the discounted price of $1299.00 minus the $750 credit i got from this Lg SJ8500. The new TV i bought is a Sony master series A9j. So you could say i got it for a steal given the quality of the new TV and the credit applied towards it.

Outstanding Picture Quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality, and sound from the Harman Kardon speaker system are outstanding... This isn’t just a television, it’s a complete media center. The setup was very easy, and using the settings menu to manage this media center are very intuitive. All the media sources (via the internet connection) and inputs (satellite, blu Ray, etc.) make this television a complete stand alone multi source media center. I’m very impressed overall, and completely satisfied with the quality and performance of this LG product. I’ve owned two LG televisions now, and both have met my expectations. I would totally recommend this addition to my media room to my friends and family, however I won’t have to as they’ve seen it for themselves... Even my cat has become immersed in our new media experience...

Ok tv, great clarity, colors didnt pop like I had
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression of this TV is wow, very clear pictures and great resolution, no blur. After adjusting settings the colors are ok, a little dark, blacks are very good. Sound again is ok, not great as expected with they hype about the speakers. The multi-zone diming is disappointing, yes it is there but very clunky. Over all I do like the web interface and it is a good T.V. for the sale price. It just lacked the mind blowing awesomeness I had hoped for. At full price I might look at other options. One negative the screen has bad reflection of light from the room in dark settings.

WOW,
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got this today and love it so far pciture quality is amazing and sound is right up there as well. Watching content on 4k is insanely good and extremely lifelike, very easy set up and use as well. best bang for the buck when it comes to the amount i paid for this, I know its not an OLED tv but this by far is the best LED tv out there today. I Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a 4ktv. I cant wait to play Xbox one X on this. Will be well worth it in the end.

Super 4K TV pic & many apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought a long while about upgrading my older LG4700 tv. It worked well, still the best chassis design I’ve ever had, better even than this model. But with no future software updates the apps were starting to fail. Along comes this little gem. 55” is bigger than I needed, but it would barely fit the space. After getting it home, setup was super simple. Apps for nearly every imaginable streaming app. Incredible picture. And integrated DirecTV interface from a single smart remote that functions more like a wireless mouse than just a standard tv remote. Tons of useful feature settings in the built-in WebOS. Takes a little getting used to compared to older models but once you learn them, you don’t want to go back. The only improvement I would suggest is built-in FF/REW buttons on the smart remote instead of just play/pause.

Must Have
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Jaws dropping colors, design, and sound. Although I purchase this with LG SJ9 sound bar, tv stero is nice with it's own version of Theater vibe. See this tv on the store or YouTube doesn't do this tv justice. My wife Loves the magic remote.

Beautiful picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has an incredible picture quality. I had no idea that by missing HDR in my old TV, it was possible to experience this huge of an upgrade. The only problems that I would note are that there is some white bleeding on dark screens, for example when playing Xbox One X, if there is a black screen with white text in the center, there is an aura of white that bleeds down the center of the screen. Its noticeable, but really not a big deal. That and the stand was surprisingly difficult to set up, and it is a little bit wobbly when you touch the TV. I would have much preferred leg stands on the left and right side than this wobbly center stand. All in all, it is a fantastic TV with only minor issues which you will soon forget about.

LOVE this TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a new 4K HDR TV, and I decided I wanted to go w/ an LG because of their support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Ideally, I wanted an OLED, but I wasn't able to afford it. I bought the SJ8500 and have been very happy with it.

Quality
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't think I can buy a different branded TV. Everyone that has used our TV is amazed by the remote and all the tvs functions. Have not ran into any major issues. We do have a hard time casting from our devices to the TV but it's not hard to just hook up to hdmi. My watch is also hit and miss when it wants to connect so I can use it as the controller. Overall just a great TV. (bought it off the shelf so we got a deal too)

Amazing detail and quality 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv is amazing! The only regret is not getting a 65" tv over the 55". The color on the TV is very satisfactory. Surprisingly, the sound on the TV is better that expected coming out of the box. I would suggest at least having a sound bar to go with it. It would not take long for the speakers to blow since they are small. The webOS is actually very easy to use as well as the microphone to speak into. Bravo LG for another great product!

Great 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this LG 4K tv on recommendation of Best Buy sales rep. He felt the internal speaker system was the best available. The sound is good, but it is still too early to decide if I will add a sound bar. The colors are stunning and vivid. It will take a few weeks for me to learn all the various settings, but so far I feel this LG tv was an excellent choice.

Great All Around TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After doing quite a bit a research on what I wanted to by, I ultimately chose this model over a comparable Samsung. I'm so happy I did. The picture on this model is outstanding. I was concerned about the audio output on such a thin tv. The Harmon Kardon speakers in this tv are absolutely awesome for a average sized living/family room atmosphere.

Integrates well with my home audio system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We use the tv as a display for the many different media devices and our sound goes through our denon receiver. It integrates easily. It all works well and the images are crisp, clear and definitely a noticeable improvement over our plasma 1080p 50" tv it replaced. This is a manufacturers warranty replacement for the previous year's model that developed an intermittent vertical magenta line. It was a little unwieldy trying to navigate LG's help/support system. LG agreed to swap the unit, and had BestBuy fulfilled the warranty. They were fantastic. I selected the model I wanted, they scheduled the swap, brought and installed the replacement and took away the faulty unit. No fuss, no muss. I do recommend adjusting the default picture settings to better suit your room conditions. Our room's lighting changes significantly during the day and have adjusted the settings to get the best quality for bright, dark, cinema and gaming use. I used https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/sk8000/settings as my reference and found a noticeable improvement in picture quality over the default settings.
