avoid 6E
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.unfortunately, this has been quite probably the most disappointing purchase of my adult life. There are though two things I can mark as positives. The first is that when you (finally) are actually able to get connected to your network via these hideous plastic blocks? you can be assured that whatever theoretical top speed your ISP said you'd get when you signed up? And that you've never got close to in real life? You'll get it with these... The other positive worth mentioning is that you will be provided with an outstanding opportunity to learn more about wifi and modern mesh wifi systems and wired vs wireless connectivity and and access points vs repeaters vs extenders as well as the capabilities of the various frequencies of radio waves currently available for use by wifi networks because you will need to know all of that and more to even have a shot at setting up your network and getting connected using these g++da+ned things. (there was so much I was disappointed by with these that I'm not going to go into it except to say thisa one next thing). I strongly advise to stay well clear of anything advertising wifi 6E...the "E" being the part to avoid. Several reasons, but primarily due to the fact that you may have noticed that other than the several various mesh routers boasting 6E capabilities? Nothing else uses the supposedly lightning fast 6 GHz bandwidth. Well...it IS lightning fast....but it doesn't matter here on Earth because unless you have a huge warehouse with no walls maybe, or live on the 50 yard line of a football field, it has a real world range of about 4 feet. after that, if it hits any obstacle at all, like a curve in you hallway or a window with a curtain...its just not hardy enough to maintain any usable, readable shape....and even in times when it does connect, just cant stay that way long...so while yes, its theoretical speeds are pretty major advances? In reality, it comes in as something somewhat less that that. not that any of that matters because 99% of people don';t have a device thats even able to detect a 6 GHz network anyway

Easy to set up... Still waiting
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, I still don't know. Setup was easy. The system works well when connected everything is fine. However, my kids & wife keep telling me the service keeps going out. I reboot & everything starts to work. Trying to determine what to do next. I have both the tri-band router and this. I'm expecting for everything to work fine. I'm not seeing the 6G band available for any of my devices. I'm assuming it's not available for these devices. I'm researching this now. I love Linksys products. Easy to use & set up. I also wish I had FIOS to fully test how effective my setup is with the best service available.

Great speed. Range so-so. Setup a problem.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WiFi is fast. Can get 1Gbps+ if close. Setup was fair. Main node setup was easy. Got 2nd node connected easily. 3rd note had problems and had to spend hours on Linksys support trying all sorts of things to finally get it up and running. 3rd node loses connection to main node fairly often though it is somewhat remote. Still like the product but YMMV.

Easy setup and great speed wifi6E
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this velop mesh system. Setup using the app was easy to follow. Setup all 3 nodes and also updated the firmware. Setup of 1st node was easy and the 2nd node. The nodes had to be close or else will drop connection The 3rd node was sporadicly droping the connection and reconnect.Using the app it told to move the nodes closer which i did for the 3rd node and now works great. Had issue with old surface 3 could not connect to SSID and tech support was great fixed the issue. Speed is fast and consistent . So far it is a great buy despite the high cost of the 3 pack.

Non-Stop Issues
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always disconnects from each other have to constantly change channels on network. As of today the entire thing doesnt work hard wired into my spectrum Modem i get 1033 mbps down and 36 mbps up. Through the mesh tower hard wired and wireless i get 23 mbps down and 2.3 mbps up. This was a great system when it worked now its a brick. Hopefully the protection plan from bestbuy allows me to swap it out for a replacement.

Posted .Hi ErikC,
It's uncommon for the Linksys Atlas Max to exhibit this behavior. Our Escalation Engineers are keen to delve deeper into this for a lasting solution. Feel free to reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com, providing your contact information and referencing this review.
In the meantime, we suggest the following steps that might help address the problem:
1) Confirm that all nodes are using the latest firmware and are positioned away from any physical obstructions.
2) Test with an alternative ethernet cable.

Atlas Max AXE84 has Critical Manufacturing Issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 3 years of almost flawless usage of my Orbi mesh system, I decided to take the 6E plunge. Over the last 120 days, I've installed two different sets of Atlas Max 6E 3 pack in my home. At the time, Orbi 6E was unavailable, so I decided to try the AXE8400s. My experience in the past 25 years with Linksys has been up and down (mostly down), but I thought with some of the positive reviews I would give these a try. I've been in networking and security for over 30 years with a Masters in Network Engineering and 18 industry certifications. I've installed and configured hundreds of networks from friends homes to (mostly) Fortune 100 and 500 companies. Unfortunately, the units kept dropping connections indiscriminately and with a host of different IOT devices ( 85 smart devices - Mac, iPhone, iPad, Tivo, Apple TV, Hue devices, Samsung Refrigerator, Arlo cams, MyQ garage doors, Ring cams, Logi Cams, PS5s, Wemo plugs, Alexa units, etc.). This happened about 1 or 2 times per day on the first set of routers I bought. After troubleshooting using various tools and packet analyzers (i.e. Wireshark and others), it seemed there was something wrong with the router itself but tried to rule out some things none the less. All of the obvious suspects. Good cables - check, latest firmware - check, direct line of site - check, interference - check, distance - check, device configuration - check, good connection blue light - check, check, and check. After tiring of rebooting these twice a day and hearing my sons complaining about their Playstation dropping, I re-installed my old Orbi's and for a blessed week, had no issues. A gluten for punishment, I was determined to get these to work, so I returned to BestBuy and got a fresh new trio. BTW.. BestBuys Elite Plus membership is great. You get 3 times the return period than normal customers. Also, Total Tech Support is Total Worth the Price. I don’t use the tech support as I'm in the business, but the included extended warrantee is worth the cost alone (especially for apple products). In any event, after buying a second round of routers, I installed once again. I have to say, the installation process on these are really easy and intuitive (hence my 4 starts on "Ease of Use"). They seem pretty solid constructions as well. Unfortunately, these are their two best and only qualities since ultimately these too had dropping issues... at least 4 times a day - worse than the first ones. Very odd behavior as sometimes the guest wifi would work and the primary wifi segment wouldn't and vice versa. After testing another several weeks and contact with LInksys support, I once again hooked up my Orbi's and haven't had a problem since. My guess is these units have manufacturing issues as some reviewers are having a great experience while other are having the dropped connection issue. Covid has played havoc on the manufacturing of many goods and more than likely this is the root cause. My guess is that's what is happening to a large segment of these routers since I purchased one online and the other at a store. My suggestion would be to not purchase these until Linksys corrects the problem. I dont think these can be fixed with with firmware. I would consider Orbi's which are better engineered, manufactured, perform higher and more reliable. The Asus Zenwifi are pretty good also. I'd like to be able to tell you that one particular company has better support than the others, but they all have horrible support since offshoring. As mentioned before, Linksys has not been a favorite of networking professionals and it seems like they still hold that stigma. Orbi might we the way to go until Linksys addresses their problem.

Compatibility issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to this device from my v1 linksys velop wifi 5 setup. Let me say that the velop worked nearly flawlessly always being fast and not dropping. Both the 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies. So let's talk about this product. I returned this and swapped it out for another because I thought I had an issue. As long as I connect using the 2.4GHz frequency, my devices stay connected and everything works well. The speeds aren't as fast because 2.4 can't reach the faster speeds like the 5GHz frequency. On the 5GHz setup, it constantly disconnects or connects at very low speeds. It starts off fast but then gets slower than the 2,4 and then might bounce back up in speed. Very unstable. This is happening on all my devices on 5Ghz. I phones, iPad, MacBook, Asus laptops (multiple), surface pro 8, surface Duo 2, etc... I list all these because linksys thought it was just one device that was having issues when it's my entire site. Again this is the second set of devices I've had. This is also happening even if the connection is 802.11 ac or ax. I had to separate the frequencies in order to keep a stable connection on the 2.4 until linksys can come out with a fix. While I'm sure they will come out with a fix, I just hope it is soon. I think the reason most people don't know they are having a problem is because they aren't separating the frequencies and their devices are failing on the 5,and auto reconnecting on the 2,4. I have no devices to test the 6GHz frequency so I can't tell you if that one is having a problem too. The admin interface and options are essentially the same as they were on the velop. So not much has changed there. Would really love it if linksys would give advanced users the option to have more advanced features and settings.

Linksys WiFi 6E mesh system
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These were very easy to set up, you can use their app, or the default IP address. 6E performance was excellent, however I have about 30 IOT devices, a server, 4 computers, and about 25 wifi devices (laptops, tablets, phones, TVs) on the network, and it would drop connection with all of them about 4 times a day. I really liked the performance, but reconnecting my devices gets old quick. I will be returning them.

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great replaced a old linksys EA9500 router and RE7000 and Re9000 extenders which worked good and had seamless roaming. The AXE8400 works great I no longer need a extender on the top floor of my home because this 8400 has wi-fi upstairs and all of devices work great .I do some times need to reboot my 8400 when I lose connection to some devices and works great again after reboot .

Excited and then disappointed!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No improvement in speed over Arris Surfboard Max Pro. I moved away from a Wifi 5 Velop mesh network due to intermittent connection drops at nodes and sometimes with node that is the main router after one of their updates. I would have thought fixed in the new AXE8400 system. it is not. Several intermittent disconnects at nodes or routers during the day, then they come right back up. There is no rhyme or reason with the disconnects as it just happens. Linksys touts that this will work with older Velop systems. Well, it will but only if you dumb down to level of the old nodes.

Not worth the $1200
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had issues with nodes randomly losing connectivity, in a layout and home size where EERO pro never had issues for 4 years. Exchanged for another of the same system, and the same issue occurs. I've tried resetting, upgrading firmware, renaming ssid and password and manually reconnecting each device one at a time to verify there are no ip issues. Very disappointing that a system this expensive is this unreliable when a 4 year old, 2nd gen EERO PRO system at less than half the price never experienced stability and connectivity issues. This $1200 mesh will probably get returned before the return policy ends.

A hiccup at the beginning, but then wow!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Opening the Linksys Atlas Max 6E Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 3 pack and I find 3 Wi-Fi Routers, 1 ethernet cable, 3 power adapters, legal documents, and a quick start guide. I need to expand on a few of the included items. The routers are self-explanatory except that they each have 4 Gigabit LAN ports on the back…nice! The cable is, well a cable, I think about 3 feet long. The brick on the end of the power adapter is huge. I plugged it in a power block, and it covers the left bottom and center bottom sockets. The legal docs are something nobody reads, but they are such a small font, I couldn’t read them if I wanted to. Lastly, the quick start guide is nothing but 3 steps. If you were looking for anything else, good luck. Now starting with the last part. This is my 3rd Velop setup, so not my first rodeo. I knew from the first two that connecting the nodes is a pain. I connected one of them between my Surfboard Modem/Wi-Fi Router. I downloaded the Linksys app to my Moto G7Play and started the setup. It did great until the last step, and it stalled. The bar was fully blue, and it was well over 10 minutes, so stupid me not remembering how bad it gets when you turn the app off, did just that. I fired up the app again and it asked if I wanted to continue. I tried that a few times, but the software couldn’t find the node. I then did a reset on it and started over. This time I got the periscope looking for the node and after 3-4 tries, I got it to work. If you find yourself here, make sure to do the 3 steps and check each box after you do so. Once you do that, a blue rectangle button will appear at the bottom of your phone and allow the node to turn blinking purple again. Then it’s back to trying to connect to your network. This time I had patience in mind, but it only took about 5 minutes and it asked to finalize the node. From there it asked if I wanted to finish or install another. I did the other two and they both connected easily. You do need patience though. Also, it’s a good idea to turn your phone screen on for about 10-15 minutes so it doesn’t keep going dark. You can set it back when you’re done. Now the system is set up. I already have a Linksys account and a bridged router in the den, so security was already done. I first connected my desktop to the network, which worked great. The PC is about 5’ away from the main node, lol. Then I went to my problem child, my bedroom tv. I have an Insignia 1080p tv that’s about 4 years old. It’s been great, but lately, the network has kept cutting out or taking a bit of time to connect. I was blaming the tv because it’s just down 15’ down the hall from my office. Even so, I was hoping this mesh network would help. I installed a node in my master bedroom and when I connected the tv to that network, I got an excellent connection. I’ve always had good, but never full bars. I fired up the YouTube app and on this tv, the thumbnails were fixed. On my den 4k tv, they play a snippet of the video as you move from one to the next. Well, now this tv does too! The lag is gone firing up the app and loading all the window panes/video choices. I gotta say I’m impressed with the new network. Once you’re fully connected, you get a Linksys dashboard on the phone app. It shows you the status of each node and has parental lock options should you need those. The app also asks if I want phone notifications if the network goes down. For me, that’s a good feature since I have one network with the Surfboard router, this new network as well as the network from the bridged Linksys router in the den. In between that, I have 3 switches for the garage, my printers, and the entertainment center. Now that these nodes have Gigabit ports in them, I may try deleting a switch or two depending on location and how many I have plugged into the switch. What else? Oh yeah, each node has one USB 3.0 port for direct storage access on the network. You do need an Android or Apple device to download the app from the appropriate store for install. And that’s about it. I think I’m going to be happy with the setup for years to come, as it has the latest Wi-Fi 6E and speeds of up to 8.4Gbps. Lastly, I know it sounds like it started a bit rocky and maybe it did, but once that first one was installed, it was a breeze. The system works great and I’d recommend it to anyone that needs the latest for gaming or in my case, streaming.
