Glitched way too much for streaming!

Honestly, super disappointed with how this camera performed for me. It was fine for recording but as soon as I tried to live stream, no matter the platform, it had the WORST unfixable glitch and no matter how many videos I watched, I could not figure out how to fix it and I'm pretty technically savvy... Great quality but did not work for what I primarily need it for.

Evidently this is a few years old because it was for Windows 8. After I figured out where and how to download what I needed to get started in Windows 10 I found that the controls for zoom, focus, exposure, etc. are all "grayed-out" and cannot be changed. The picture does not seem any better than the old Logitech camera that I've used for years until the microphone had issues. I will be returning this.

Great camera, broken on Windows 11

This camera is of high quality works great on my Windows 10 PC but I bought it for my elderly FIL on his Windows 11 PC. The camera itself is great but the method for getting to work is convoluted af. I didn't want to return if I could find a fix, which is what I did. Instruction are as follows: Plug in the webcam. Enable it in Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers. Open Windows Services. Press Win+R keys Type services.msc Press Enter or click Ok 4. Locate Windows Audio. 5. Double-click on Windows Audio to open its Properties. 6. Go to the Log On tab. 7. Select Local System account and click OK. Sound will not work on the computer with this particular setting, but we will be able at least to bring the "Windows Audio" service up, with Webcam/Mic connected. 8. Go back to Services windows. 9. Single-click on Windows Audio. 10. Click Restart on the left pane to restart the service. You should see the "Windows audio" service UP (little speaker in taskbar), and computer won't produce any sound (Again, this is normal, sound will come back after rollback later) 11. Open Windows Settings > System > Sound. 12. In the Input devices list, click the webcam mic and disable the Audio enhancement. 13. Then to re-enable Audio, open Windows Audio Properties. Refer to Steps 3, 4 and 5. 14. Select This Account. 15. Click Browse… and a Select User window will appear. 16. Select Advanced... and a new window will pop up. 17. Click Find Now. 18. Choose LOCAL SERVICE at the bottom pane and then click OK. 19. Once you're back to the Select User window and make sure LOCAL SERVICE is showing in the box field, click OK. 20. Back to the Log On tab, empty the Password and Confirm Password fields, then click OK. 21. A pop up will appear saying that the settings applied will take effect after restarting the service. Click OK. 22. To restart Windows Audio service to get the sounds back, follow Steps 3, 4, 9 and 10. This fixed it for me until they find a way to fix it with an update. Hence 2 stars. Instructions found on Reddit.

    Logitech Software Support is Worthless

I had no issues connecting the camera to my Mac, but the picture quality was a grainy, over exposed mess. The 1 page insert said to download the G-HUB software from Logitech's site. But when I went to their site, I was greeted with a message that there are no downloads available for this camera. I had a chat session started in the background, but after 6 hours of no response, I started looking for other solutions. I finally stumbled on the Logi-Tune software, and I was able to successfully install it. Many of the camera settings that were supposed to be in G-HUB don't exist in Logi-Tube, but I still managed to get an acceptable image from the camera. Bottom line, Logitech's support sucks. I would not recommend this or any other product until they get their act together.

This cam does not come with very good software, as you cannot adjust the cam at all with it! I had to do some research and find the software to download to make it work properly. And after the cam has been working for about an hour or so in a zoom video chat, it starts getting blurry and I have to reboot it. Pretty annoying, actually! I have a Fios connection, so it is not the connection speed; it is simply a poorly made camera. Also, the 5' cord is TOO SHORT! The cord needs to be at LEAST 6' long, since it sits on top of a monitor [mine is 24" diag] and then the cord has to go down to my PC tower which is underneath my desk. Pretty strange that LOGITECH has to be so stingy on the length of their cord! I am sure there are better cameras out there that are more user-friendly.

Hi dangramm, thanks for letting us know about your experience. I want to make sure you are using "Logitech Capture" https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/capture?crid=1701 - This will allow you full control of the camera and advanced FX. It should stay consistent in performance. Not sure why you are getting blurry image. Maybe adjust your room lighting or auto-focus settings. All of our webcams have 5' cables, although we do appreciate your feedback. If needed, you can use an extension cable. - Will, Logitech.

Doesn't Seem to Work with Skype

I was expecting better quality from Logitech. The tint is too blue, the face is washed out and overexposed. I experimented with the settings and downloaded the software. It also seems incompatible with Skype. Even though Skype recognizes the camera, the camera icon is crossed out, so I can't run a video test. I was expecting this to be better quality than my internal camera. I like the small size and the lense cap.

      Hello TRaptor,
Thank you for choosing Logitech and for taking the time to share your experience with the C920s Webcam. I am sorry that you have experienced difficulties with getting your webcam set up to your preferences. I would like to help. If you are using the "Capture" software, you will want to select "Capture" as in input device in Skype. Your C920s will also work with Logitech "G Hub" for customizations. You can make appropriate adjustments through the Logitech software, and I also recommend checking your computer for system updates and driver updates. Please check your “Device manager” for driver updates. In the “Device Manager” please check the pull-down menu under “Imaging Devices”, please right click on the “c920s” option and check for driver updates. If there are updates please run them, if you see “The best drivers for your device are already installed” please select “search for updated drivers on Windows update”. On the “Windows Update” screen, you may see a “You’re up-to-date”, message (you may see an option to “view optional updates”. If you see this option, please select “view optional updates”, where you will find the optional updates in a pull-down menu. If you do not see this option, please select “check for updates”. This likely will reveal the “view optional updates” option. I have attached a link to the support page for your C920s webcam. Please visit the Logitech website for further support.
      Best regards,

Over the past several years, I've relied on the built-in camera of my iPad Pro 11" (2018) or my MacBook Air 13" (2015) or my 27" Thunderbolt Display (2012) for all of my video conferences, FaceTime video calls, etc. The cameras and microphones built into each of those devices have worked flawlessly and provided good audio and video quality on the other end of the calls. But after upgrading to a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro 13" and a new 4k external display, I shopped for a highly-rated but affordable webcam: the C920s consistently ranked high in many reviews and promised clear, quality HD video plus mics. However, after using this webcam for about a week, I am returning it to BestBuy and would suggest that others who are shopping for a new webcam consider other options. The video quality of the C920s is indeed pretty sharp (HD) but this camera absolutely struggles with lighting – video footage always appears too dark – and absolutely fails with audio quality – it sounds like I'm speaking through a PVC tube. My office setup includes significant overhead lighting plus a front-facing LED diffused light source for videos, so the subject (me) is very well-lighted. I even added a second front-facing light to see if that could help with the lighting challenges this camera struggled with, but even the additional light source my video continued to be significantly darker than it should (none of the other devices listed above ever had trouble with the lighting in my office.) I generally like Logitech products, but the C920s fell wayyyyy short.

Looking for a nice new camera? You are paying way too much for this camera that was created in 2012 and has no new technology in it. The quality is downright poor. Ignore the “HD”. It can’t handle any lighting situation well, you will look pale and washed out and with a bluish tint. I regret this purchase and feel it’s only worth about 20 bucks.

Hey there MJHouston, I'm sorry to hear that you had some issues with your C920s. I thought you would be able to control the lens so you can move in and out of the subject(me) for others whom I am having a video chat with to see. This model is not as good as my old one even though it has a privacy cover(which is cheap plastic cover). I would not have bought this one except my old one is no longer working. The reviews should mention you do not control the lens!! A real shame.
