Harmony remotes have really improved and this remote is a good example. The set up is done through an app that is easy to use and nicely designed. All you have to do is enter your devices and then enter your activities. Super easy and from there it works every time. I also like that this remote is simpler, with no need to charge and no touchscreen. Overall, a great product.

I have a mixed configuration of devices in my home entertainment system: LG TV, Bose sound, Apple TV, Samsung Blu-ray and Samsung Cable Box (Spectrum). I had managed to get down to just the Bose remote, however, there were still a number of steps to change between viewing modes. This was clear to me but not others in the household.
Setting up the Logitech took a bit of patience and planning. Needed to collect model number for each of the devices and take an inventory of inputs to the TV and Bose. The Logitech setup App is reasonable and once all of the devices have been entered, the App suggests some possible routines such as "Watch TV" or "Watch DVD".
The next trick is to make sure that you set both the base station and the auxiliary IR blaster in the correct position. I had all my components in a cabinet and place the base station in this cabinet and had little problem controlling these devices. The trick was positioning the auxiliary IR blaster in a position that the TV responded as expected. Took a bit of trial and error but now working.
Overall, well worth the effort to setup. Now have single button on/off and control of my TV, Apple TV, Blu-ray, and cable box.

Like everyone said it's a basic universal remote. I wish it had more buttons because sometimes things don't go like it should. So I would like to be able to change the inputs from my receiver or tv etc.
Also the setup is not that easy. It took me a while to figure it out and I'm still adjusting since settings
Only reason I bought it is because I got this on sale.

Best bang for the buck...

The Harmony Home control is the best bang for the buck of the Logitech Universal control offerings, currently. Only reason not to get this, as supposed to the Smart control, would be for home automation. For some, that might not be important, but if you're looking for something that will perfectly integrate with home automation later down the line, this should be your choice. Only drawback on this is, it requires additional sign in when accessing through your Harmony phone app (the smart control doesn't require that, if you're already logged into the home network). Why get this over the Harmony Ultimate Control? Simple...battery life. If the Smart and Home control both allow one access to touchscreen controls, which if set up correctly have all the detailed controls that a person would need for each device, then the touch on the Ultimate home is not worth the additional money that would have to be spent. To add to that, Best Buy had a trade in program that gave me an additional 50 bucks to put towards purchasing this remote and I'm extremely happy I made the choice, as my Harmony 700 was on its last legs. If you're worried about battery life on the basic remote, replacement is super simple, but shouldn't be a concern as it should last a long time due to its not having touchscreen. Lastly, for those that have family members that aren't exactly tech savvy, the Harmony Home control is such a simple remote and the layout is much better than the Smart controls layout, as far as button positioning is concerned. I highly recommend this remote for everyone. I didn't really touch base on Logitech's MyHarmony update site, but even that is much improved from what one had to do before, with multiple Harmony devices! I think this remote (or multiple Harmony Home Controls) is a must have in every household.

Having owned previous Harmony remotes, I was very comfortable trying this new hub-based remote.
Works smoothly, although some of the macros seem a little slower than they should. Could just be powering on devices.
Wish the buttons were back-lit, or glowed in the dark. Otherwise the remote is comfortable in your hand, well laid out, and easy to use.

I have had high expectations for this remote. It may be that my wi-fi router is older, but after setup, will sometimes have problems with the signal properly activating or deactivating devices. It is improving when I adjust the position of the IR blaster, and my wife enjoys only having one remote. I appreciated the easy setup even using my phone.

Upgraded from a Logitech 650 and I have to say this is a great remote! Gives more control over a home theater system with the added home automation features. Love the fact that you no longer need to point and aim to control all your devices, the included hub and addional ir repeater takes care of that. My wife and daughter love this compared to the old 650. Also smart app enabled with smartphones, but please add windows universal app. Only wish it had backlit buttons, but knew this before purchase. Great job Logitech!

The installation process was a nightmare, mainly due to really poor instructions. It took over an hour to do something that could have been done in 15 minutes. Otherwise, the remote has really good features like pressing one button to simultaneously turn on (and off) multiple devices with preferred settings. It's ergonomic, has a good feel, and elegant.

Setup was easy using my android app on my smartphone. I was able to replace all the remotes for my Denon AVR, Samsung plasma, Oppo 103d bluray player, and Roku 3. App is very intuitive (besides being unable to copy and paste inputs from the devices to other activities). The activity function allows guests who are not familiar with my home theater setup to power everything on with one button press instead of fumbling around with 4 remotes and figuring out which input works with which device. I wish I had purchased this sooner.

Had Geek Squad set it up for TV, sound bar, DVD player , and computer. This took 1/2 hour, so that would mean I couldn’t go it alone, based on my technical skill level which admittedly is low. Service rep was great. The reason I gave the remote 4 stars is it is slow to respond to typing , so I end up putting in wrong numbers for channel selection. I need to type slower. I still need to use my Comcast remote for voice command. It did eliminate need for use of sound bar and dvd remotes. Went from 3 to 2 remotes. Still would recommend to a friend, only need the one remote to turn everything on and off.

We've been using Harmony remotes for years and when our family room remote started to have issues with sticky keys, we picked up the Harmony Home on sale.
Setup was a breeze for a receiver, PS3, Kodi computer, and TV.
It's nearly perfect for our use, but it would be nice if the keys were back-lit and the number buttons were larger.

I finally got frustrated with four different remotes and the Home Theater (HT) remote was barely responding when the buttons were pushed. I always had my eye on the Logitech Harmony remotes and finally went large, purchasing the Harmony Home Control. Now I wondered why I waited so long.
Setup was simple and got it about 85% right the first time. It had all of my devices including the WD Live TV media player. I did have to go in and tweak some of the settings like delays to ensure a unit was fully powered up and ready to receive the next command. The activities as they call them are sequences of commands so with a single button push my entertainment system powers up the right devices, selects the correct inputs and in the case of music even starts a playlist.
The surprise benefit was that the included remote is RF so the remote doesn't have to be line of sight with the receiver. I can control everything from any location, the kitchen to the eat-in nook to sitting on the couch.
The only down sides are some of my devices don't have discreet on/off commands so if for some reason the device didn't turn on or off, the next time the activity does the opposite of what you want. Can't blame the Harmony for this as the manufacturers should give one command for on and a different command for off, instead of a simple toggle.
The other down side is there is no discreet device control. So you won't find a TV or CBL button with which you can take direct control with the included remote. This can be accomplished on the app versions of the remote for Androd/iOS but that requires having your phone or iPad and multiple button pushing. You can program unassigned buttons on the remote but the labels no longer depict the action.
Definitely paid a premium for all this value, but have now virtually eliminated my spouse complaining about not being able to turn on the entertainment system. Compared prices all around and it became clear the price controls by Logitech meant no discounts to be found.
I look forward to figuring out how to use the Harmony to replace my barely functioning X-10 home automation system.

I was hesitant to buy another Harmony remote after previous experiences, but this one is great. Setting up the remote is a million times easier, and the Hub allows me to control lights and my thermostat as well (you have to buy separate equipment that can communicate wirelessly). The remote itself seems way more sturdy and probably won't break like my others did. The phone app that also allows you to control your devices is very good. My only complaint is that the PS4 controls don't really work.

The remote works brilliantly, hitting devices inside my glass fronted cupboards, my projector in front and my screen behind. The setup initially is a bit laborious and not always logical, but once you're past that it makes using complex home theater setups a breeze. The new home-automation functionality is just icing on the cake.

Bought this to replace an old Harmony 890. This remote has less customizable buttons, but certainly simplifies usage and is smaller and easier to handle. All my day-to-day requirements work from the remote, and anything else I can do from the iPad app. Works well with my Sony TV, Yamaha receiver, DirecTV, PS3, and Amazon FireTV. All behind cabinet doors. Haven't tried any of the home automation stuff yet.

I love this device, and I owned the gen 1 hub which was bigger and not this convenient. This one has better remote than previous gen as well as controls the devices almost smoothly. The only issue I have is when you put sequences of start and end for activities you get only a few sequences to add and end but not as many as you wish. Also you cannot switch the starting sequences to be switched with ending sequences. For example, I want to watch my set top box on the tv but my sequences for this activity as ‘switch soundbar device on, switch tv on, switch set top box on, cannot be moved below these three. Only these events can be interchanged among each other. So 1, 2, 3 can be interchanged to 1,3,2 or 2,1,3 or 3,2,1, etc. but if I want 3 below 4,5,6 then it wouldn’t allow me that. Which is very annoying because some of my devices such as my smart TV takes about 5 to 8 seconds to bring the HDMI input on or the .channel I wish to watch. So if I have my tv on sequences close to chose TV source then I cannot give it a delay by putting more events in between those to sequence activities. So more I play with it, more I realize the app’s short coming. And since this is only 1 device that I know that does this I’m stuck to it. Please look around for more options or alternate solutions.

Great and not-so-great

The RF (radio frequency) feature is almost worth the price alone - NOT having to point the remote at the TV (and hold it steady for a few seconds) is GREAT. Especially when hitting the mute button - I usually have the remote on the kitchen table, with a half-wall between the table and the TV/receiver/cable box in the living room. Wonderful to leave the remote on the table and push Mute.
NOT-SO-GREAT: No way for newbies to set this up WITHOUT calling customer support. I had to call three times, but got through to a rep right away who helped out immensely. The printed instructions are misleading - it is not clear that the hub has to FIRST be plugged into the computer. Also, the buttons on the remote are NOT backlit and are TOO SMALL. I do like the textured feel of the remote, i.e., not slick plastic. Hopefully we will like the longer-life battery - hope it is not too hard to change the battery. Will know in a year.
The GOOD: I did Initial set up and follow-up modifications via the DESKTOP app which I prefer to the mobile app. Much easier to work on the desktop computer. This was a big selling point to me - not having to point remotes at each other, pressing and holding, etc. etc.
The OK: I installed the mobile app on my phone and use it occasionally for muting/volume control. We use the rewind a lot for live TV (cable), but if I change channels using the phone, the rewind feature for live TV is disabled. I'm not sure why that is, and I wish Logitech could fix that because we need two remotes - we were willing to buy a second remote but were told by Logitech that wouldn't work. So using the app on my phone is the only solution. We've always had two remotes, so this is kind of a big deal. But as long as I can control volume from my cell phone, it's minimally acceptable. DEVICES CONTROLLED: Samsung LED TV, Motorola cable box, Yamaha receiver, Sony DVD player. No problems or conflicts operating these devices. We bought this model mostly because of the RF, and had to pay for the features we won't be using - remote controlling lights and thermostat. Seems we can never get EXACTLY what we want despite manufacturers producing umpteen models.

The harmony remote works as advertised. I have it controlling my home theater (4K HDR TV, Bose Sound System, Receiver and Blu Ray). I have hooked it up to Google Home using the Android app. That syncing was a bit of challenge due to Google's connectivity, not Logitech.
