Overexposed!

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture quality, but the software available from Logitech to adjust camera settings is a bit of a mess. They have two different apps available, Logitech G Hub and Logitech Capture, which have very different interfaces and unique settings that make setting up the camera difficult. One of the biggest issues I’ve encountered with the camera is the exposure. My desk is very well lit, but I have a relatively dark background, so unless I change my background or fight with the software to adjust exposure manually, I end up VERY overexposed. Once I get the camera to stop making me look like a ghost, it looks great, but I’d rather use my MacBooks built in 720p webcam instead because it just works without the setup process and troubleshooting.

What has happened to Logitech?

Plastic parts and bracket, and customer service from Logitech are terrible. I purchased this camera in March to immediately deploy virtual learning solutions for my students. I relied on the logitech reputation for quality and customer service. While the camera's performance was everything I wanted it to be, the plastic bracket, which is proprietary and not shared by other camera equipment, cracked to pieces in just a few months. After searching on line I discovered that this is a known issue with this camera. Nevertheless Logitech does not seem to be able to send replacement brackets. Therefore customers are left with a 170 dollar camera that is unable to mount on its tripod and endless runaround from Logitech. I have had a service ticket in the works for more than a month and it takes weeks in between communication from them to get answer to the ticket and this morning I received a request from them that is as if the request just started today, asking for all the same information over again. I'm frustrated, disappointed, and angry. It is the first week of school and this camera is what I rely on to provide virtual contact with my students. Meanwhile I'm wasting valuable time in an endless loop of unhelpful emails from Logitech. I will not buy another Logitech product based on the customer service alone.

Not MAC BOOK PRO Friendly

Sadly with in 36 hours I returned the stream cam back to bestbuy as it is NOT MAC friendly!!! It kept wanting to rotate 90 degrees on me when I know I had it correctly mounted and laying flat on a desk, and on top of that the software Xsplit doesn’t work at all on my MAC

When it works it looks good...

It takes me several times of re-plugging to get this to be recognized by the computer. After about 3 mo of use, the image started doing awful flickering, as if it was struggling to capture an image. This is a bad design all the way around. They force you to use a USB C port, adaptors will lower the quality, and they have a really short cord. So unless you are using it close to your computer AND you have a USB C 3.1 port, you may be okay, assuming you do not have a defective one. When I contacted support for a replacement, after a month of lack of responses, they told me to return it to the store. I'd say bad support, but it was more like no support. I'd upgrade this to a 4 star if their support was more on the ball and gave me a working cam.

Device stops working after a year.

It stopped working after 1.5 years and it only has one year of warranty. The price is not worth the durability of the product. So steer clear of the product.

The camera will now no longer record. It only makes a repetitive staticky sound. Up until the update it was a nice camera. I am working with Logitech for hopefully a warranty replacement.

Remote Office test with Zoom

Maybe I got a bad one, but the video quality was horrible. Not clear or sharp whatsoever. The color was better and more natural than others I tested, and I liked the framing options. Audio was solid. But I could not get past the low resolution. Seemed very out of character given its capabilities and reviews. I returned this unit and did not exchange it.

If you haven't already, I would recommend downloading our Capture software here https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025141614 to change the settings on the StreamCam. The StreamCam does come out of the box set to 720p at 30 frames per second. This software will allow you to change the quality to 1080p at 60 frames per second. However, since you're using this on Zoom, Zoom does cap its quality at 720p unless your work is paying for the higher quality video. Thank you so much for the feedback on the video quality! Unfortunately couldn't get it to stop screen teari

I tried just about everything I could think of. I imagine its a driver issue or a Windows 10 issue, or something with my laptop just not liking this particular unit. Whatever the case, I did like how it was a pretty simple set up, and really smooth looking picture when the picture wasn't tearing itself to pieces. I mean the picture was really something to behold even in low light, and the Logitech Capture software was really great to play around with, but no matter what settings I adjusted, the picture just kept tearing. I imagine that when this product works, its a great product.

mine could be defective

Apparently, I planned too far in advance because once given, the recipient found that her computer wouldn't recognize the camera, but since I'm outside of the return/exchange window, Best Buy will not allow me to return or exchange the item. Not sure whether the camera is defective or not. Just be sure to purchase and try it out immediately in case your camera, like mine, doesn't work!

Issues with customer service

Great Video Quality; Has Some Issues

I don't believe it's a hardware issue, yet a software issue. Logitech has been useless in helping to solve the issue.

Main feature doesn't work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Logi StreamCam used to work very nicely before Macs with Apple M chips. Now it does NOT rotate to portrait mode anymore and the software that's supposed to control it and provide configuration options does not work on MacOS. They've released other software (LogiTune and G Hub) but there's still no option to fix the rotation issue. I gave it 2 stars because it still works but only in landscape mode. This is an issue that has been reported to Logitech for about 3 years now on both Macs and Windows 10 machines and they haven't fixed it yet. At this point, it is false advertisement for them to claim that it rotates automatically between landscape and portrait modes.

Great little cam but very short, fixed cord

But it has a permanently attached and truly dinky (maybe 4'?) cord. If it's going anywhere other than right on top of your monitor, this one probably won't work for you.
