I work with electronic security, and have for the last 30 years. The market has changed and consumers can get access to products that only distributors and dealers used to be able to get. And it's being made in a way that many could install this on their own. This is one system that you won't want to pass up. I have to say, there isn't much that Lorex left out of the equation with this. Initially, with any electronic security, I worry about the use of the chips from China, as has been broadcast around the security industry. In fact, the US Government has forbidden use of products that have the chips. Look up the John McCain National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Why is this an issue? Because they could be used to spy on people from a foreign Country. If that is your concern, you can set this up to be used as a "local" system, meaning it never gets connected to the internet. Wow! So you can set this up and not be hacked through the internet. Someone finally decided to do the right thing, and provide a solution for people who have concerns such as these! Most will end the setup if you don't connect to the internet. That isn't fair, what if you don't have internet and still want/need this kind of system? Lorex thought this through properly! As for me? I'm past worrying about it at my house. You want to check on my neighborhood or my back porch for me, or even my dogs, go for it. You might even get a glimpse of me in my underwear once in awhile, and if you do, you'll regret it. Trust me on that one! Because of this cybersecurity concern, Lorex built into the app, the ability to do two factor authentication. Very smart! If a device signs in as me, and it isn't my previously used device(s), it asks me to confirm. Bravo! Problem solved! This system might get hacked, but if I don't confirm them as me, they won't get in. Since video is stored on the control center, not the cloud, they can't get to it without getting into my system, right? So this ends this discussion. Since the storage occurs locally, and not in the cloud, there are no monthly fees! Thank you for that, I'm so tired of being bugged for $3/month, $9/month, etc. It isn't something I need or want, Lorex gives you the chance to get storage locally (more secure) without paying for it. Now that we are past that, let me tell you this thing is feature packed! You get a base station, which is what always puzzled me why nobody else did this, with it's own monitor, and own radio receivers to talk to the cameras. So your cameras are NOT on your wifi, they are wirelessly connected to this base station and the base station is a monitor that CAN BE connected to the internet, if you want to. Or not. Your choice. But the base station is the biggest feature this thing offers. A security control center means no smartphone is even needed to get this running. Just plug in, learn in the cameras, and boom, you are recording and viewing video. The cameras are very decent quality. They contain a light that is used for deterrence if desired, a mini-floodlight if you will, they also have an infrared light source for when low light occurs, they switch to black and white, and the infrared light makes it look like daytime. They are WIRELESS and BATTERY OPERATED! Woohoo! Truly wireless. Just charge them up periodically, hang them or sit them somewhere, and you are monitoring and recording video. Nothing to it. It took longer to unpack everything than it did to program the cameras to the system. These cameras are not waterproof, but are damp resistant. Can put them in places whereas they don't get flooded out by rain - under an eave, on your porch, etc. outside and can be anywhere inside. Many programming options on these cameras via the setup. 2K images out of this are amazing if you are used to anything less, you'll be impressed. The control center is the main center for everything. It records video to a small Micro SD card that comes with the system (64GB in my unit), displays video, receives the signal from the cameras, and has a microphone and speaker so you can communicate through the camera. See a punk outside causing trouble or looking out of place, tell them to move on without leaving your home. Sound a siren to scare them off - the siren is in the camera. Or turn on the deterrent mini-floodlight. You can see the weather forecast, or the current weather conditions. Review video from the night before. Be alerted to activity seen in the cameras between the hours of XXXXX-XXXXX on certain days or all days, or not at all. I could go on for quite some time about this system, one of the most advanced home security camera systems a consumer can buy over the counter (not from a dealer), can install themselves, and get full featured security cameras at a fraction of the price. This one is the right one to get, the control center is the be all, end all because you can view things, control things, etc. from there without even using a smartphone. Oh, before I forget, there is a range extender to extend the wireless signal from the cameras to the control center/base station. Plug it in and sync it, it will fill in the wireless gap between the two. Amazing little invention and so glad Lorex thought to make this available. Range won't be an issue with this in play. I would not only recommend this to a friend, I'd highly recommend this to a friend!!!

THE BREAKDOWN: The Lorex Home center with 2K Smart Deterrence Outdoor Wire-Free cameras performed as you would think they would. I found the build to build and quality to be excellent and be very user friendly. The setup was really fast and easy. I think it took me 10 min at most to get up and running. One exception being charging the camera batteries for over 4 hours before use (more on this topic later). You can use the hub itself to get started or use it in conjunction with the app. Either way the process was easy and simple. The camera mounting was simple and easy as it was two screws, and everything clicked into place. The touchscreen video hub has a very familiar feel to it, as it is like an iPad or touchscreen tablet. The hub even supports Alexa enabled voice recognition and Face-ID. Another great feature of the hub is that it has physical switches to turn off the mic and the lens shutter. This feature is good for those like to take the extra step in locking down their privacy. There are so many ways to configure the hub. You can put it to sleep and make the screen dark, I find this very helpful especially if you have this next to your bed. You can even load your own pictures on it and have them display like digital picture frame. You can have your cameras displayed or the weather. There are many ways in which to customize the hub. The system comes with a 64GB microSD card for local storage and is expandable up to 1TB. There is also a handy USB port on the back of the hub that allows you to import or export images fast and easy. There is also an extender that comes with this unit. It takes about a minute to link up and start working. I found that I never had any issues with connectivity before or after installation of this device. The 2K cameras performed well and I love the fact that there are no wires to mess with. The two-way audio did work but was laggy in my opinion. I had to hit the mic button a few times before it finally connected and worked. The camera batteries took over 4 hours to fully charge and I had to actually charge the battery while out of the camera. This is because there is a light indicator on the actual battery but when I tried to charge the battery while in the camera there was no light indicating it was charging. I felt as if the quality and face recognition worked well. You can even set it up to where a spotlight comes on when motion is detected. PRO’s: -No wires -No monthly fees -2K resolution -Touch screen hub -Face ID CON’s: -Battery charging -Lag in the 2 way talk SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked well and as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this.

The Lorex Home Center is a pretty cool way to help monitor your home security on your own. Included you get a smart hub with touch screen, range extender hub, a micro SD card, and two 2K QHD wire free cameras. The cameras are rechargeable battery operated and can be mounted with the provided equipment or be standing on a shelf for example. The cameras are pretty nice as they have person detection, 2-way talk capability, warning light w/ siren, and are meant for indoor and outdoor use. 2K resolution on these cameras looks pretty sharp and detailed. Color night vision, and a nice wide 140 degree field of view. So you get 2 cameras with this and you can always add more as you choose to. Both the app and the smarthub are easy to operate and installation is quick and easy. The smart hub is comparable to a small video screen that informs you of any alerts or activity that occur on the cameras. The clarity is nice and the video quality is pretty good. Captures all activity at once so you can be in the know of what's happening on your cameras. Voice interaction is what really makes this a nice camera system. Speaking to Lorex, you get it to show you all your cameras at once, or you can specifically ask for a certain camera to be shown on the screen. Also the Lorex Home Center can be partnered with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to make it more interwoven into your home's daily routine. The Lorex app is also convenient and easy to use. I have liked using it on my iPhone XR as it allows me to monitor activity easily when I'm not home. Great clarity on the video content and easy to adapt to learning the interface and layout of the app. What I like best about this is that the system allows me to not have to pay for monthly fees. I want to be able to have my own internal home security without paying monthly or annual charges just to continue the service. The micro SD card included helps to keep things in house and I can monitor footage and activity at my own choosing and keep what I want. Overall a pretty nice system that sets itself apart from others due to having the Home Center smart hub. I get the flexibility of watching activity alerts on my phone or my smart hub. Priced aggressively for getting two 2K cameras, range extender, and a touchscreen hub. And since you're not paying monthly fees this is a big win for me and my peace of mind. PRO: Two 2K QHD cameras Smart hub Home Center touchscreen No monthly fees CON: None

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: If Apple were to make an eminently usable security system that took its styling cues from the rest of its sleek, white, modern-looking electronics lineup, this is about as close to what I would envision them making as humanly possible. We found the Lorex Home Center security system to be surprisingly excellent--it is stylish, compact, super simple to install, dead-simple to configure and operate, and offers just about everything you might want for home surveillance and security with still more room to grow. The touchscreen smart video hub will feel instantly familiar to anyone who has used an iPad, Google, or Alexa-enabled smart product, and the unit becomes something like a little command center for your fledgling security system in less than 5 minutes--no joke, I was up and running in less than 5 minutes! The hub supports voice recognition, Face ID-style security unlocking, touch and gesture capabilities, and a crisp, hi-def display that will make the hub look right at home on a shelf or countertop that neatly complements the modern, connected home. Those of you in the Amazon smart home ecosystem will be happy to know there is an Alexa skill for integrating the Home Center with your existing Alexa-enabled equipment (the same is apparently true for Google Home users). But for those of you who loathe the idea of contending with yet another cloud-based, voice-enabled digital assistant, or are concerned about the Home Center's camera spying on YOU instead of its own camera feeds, the Lorex's smart voice assistant actually doesn't require cloud access/storage to operate properly--it can function on its own by using touch/gesture controls alone; and it gives you a handy mute switch for the microphone and a physical slider to open/close the lens shutter. Both of those mechanical switches are accented by a bright red outline to clearly indicate when the mic mute or camera off functions are enabled, and they are accompanied by on-screen confirmations to the same effect--very nice usability touches for those of you who value your security but don't want to invite yet another corporation into your home to eavesdrop on everything you might say or do. Yet despite the inherently "always-on" nature of home security, the hub isn't intrusive by keeping its video screen, you know, always on...you can customize it with your own photos to turn the Lorex into a digital photo frame, put it to sleep so the screen remains dark when not in use, or even bring up a handy weather forecast page just to spice things up and add a bit of utility beyond the confines of its primary monitoring and security duties. The Home Center comes with a pre-installed 64GB microSD card for all-local video storage (you can also snap and store static image captures from the video feeds)--there are no cloud uploads or monthly service/storage fees to contend with. You can upgrade the microSD storage to 256GB, and you can even add a M.2 SATA SSD for up to 1TB of additional high-speed storage--this eliminates the need for a noisy "surveillance-rated" hard drive constantly spinning away in the background for DVR/NVR purposes. The handy USB port on the back of the unit also allows you to export or import video and image files via USB flash drive. Setup on the hub itself can be accomplished completely via on-screen data entry, or you can streamline things by working with, what I'm happy to say, is a very powerful yet amazingly easy-to-use Lorex smart-phone app. You can hook the system into your home network wired (there's an Ethernet cable in the box) or wirelessly (tough the latter requires a dual-band router with 2.4 and 5Ghz channels). Once the hub is online, it generates its own little wireless network for the included 2K wireless cameras. We especially liked this design feature because it meant we weren't going to be bogging down our Netflix streams or telework connectivity with a bunch of high-bandwidth 2K security feeds. BUT, there is also an option to use the system in a completely "offline mode." This method of operation still allows remote monitoring/operation from the Home Center's video screen, but you won't get real-time updates of motion/human detection on your phone, nor can you remotely operate the hub in this mode. We did notice that the wireless signal the Lorex Home Center pumps out isn't quite as robust as that provided by a decent wireless router...one of our cameras couldn't be reached once we added it to the system and then moved it to the side of the house. That's where the included extender comes into play. Clocking in at about the size of a small oil diffuser, the cylindrical extender required all of 45 seconds of setup to sync to the Home Center hub...then the feed from our driveway camera sprang back into view. A small LED on the front of the extender helpfully indicates device status and flashes when activity is detected (or when you're dealing with something like a weak WiFi signal)--and is really the only complaint we have about the entire system. The status LED on the extender unit is bright, like nearly laser-pointer bright; if you have the extender in a bedroom, the LED is bright enough to be intrusive, so plan your placement accordingly. Of course, the other big draws for this particular system are the compact yet high-quality 2K video, 2-way audio, indoor/outdoor, auto-night vision cameras that require ABSOLUTELY no wires to install or operate. This was honestly the biggest reason we picked the Lorex Home Center kit--you don't need to run coax or Ethernet cables to the cameras to carry a signal back to the hub, and you don't have to drill any holes in walls, wood, or masonry to run a camera's power cable to the nearest outlet. The battery packs are supposedly rated for about 9 months--they can be charged via micro-USB through the weatherized rubber cap at the back of the camera, or they can be removed with a simple twist of the weatherproof bottom panel and charged separately so you don't have to take the cameras down from their mounts at all. Unlike the extender unit's accessory pack, these cameras do not include a USB wall charger despite the lengthy micro-USB cables in the box. Though some might grouse at this omission, my suspicion is that anyone eyeballing a wireless home security system probably has at least one empty USB charger port somewhere in their home that can be used once or twice a year to juice up the batteries. Each camera features a built-in LED spotlight that can be set to activate when motion is detected, or turned on/off manually from the Home Center hub or Lorex app. There is also a siren that can sound automatically for intruder deterrence when unwanted motion/people are detected, or you can activate it manually to--I don't know--get the attention of some rambunctious kids who are starting to get a little carried away in the back yard or pool. Like any good video security system, you can define "motion zones" that ignore some areas within a camera's field of view (about 140 degrees wide) while focusing in on others. Finally, we also really liked the selectable "privacy mode"--this turns off a camera's live view, notifications, and recording capabilities for those times when we just didn't need/care to hear/receive EVERY notification of motion at the door or in the back yard. Speaking of notifications--the Home Center hub (AND the extender!) alert you to any camera's person/motion detection with a pleasant little chime from the onboard speaker (as well as a push notification to your phone if it's enabled)...but those notifications can also be silenced individually or en masse via the Home Center hub or app...nice! For all of these features, and still more system customization/options we're discovering, you'd think the Lorex Home Center would be absurdly complex; but it turned out to be very intuitive, flexible, and powerful, yet still incredibly easy to use. With the capacity to add another two cameras operating at 2K QHD resolution, or up to six more when all are operating at 1080p; simultaneous display of 4 video feeds at a time in the app and on the Home Center hub; and support for up to 32 more wireless sensors, the Lorex Home Center has a lot to offer now and for future system expansion--DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED for your DIY home security and surveillance needs!

I received the Lorex Home Center, two 2K QHD Wire-free cameras and a range extender for review. I fired up the Home Center and configured it -- Hub name, password, Wifi network (can be hard-wired too) and then held off for a bit while I clicked through the menus. I don’t have any complaints from a touch-screen perspective -- a common swipe from left edge to the right is the way to go back from every page. Right off the bat, I noticed that there was no AC Adapter to charge the cameras, so I had to locate a few - which was somewhat annoying. The MicroUSB cables are quite long, which is nice and the connection to the camera is quite snug; no way water is getting in there. While charging on my desk (where there was a MicroUSB cable attached to a USB Hub), I added one camera at a time and then proceeded to play with the customizations. At first, I messed around with the activity zones, which just about every system with motion detection has. No concerns there, drag to un-blue the areas you want to “not” trip the sensor. There are a ton of features and the best bet for you would be to click through each of them & see how they may help you. For example, how bright the spotlight can be, if you want it to activate during option & how loud the alarm can sound; each one fits people’s lifestyles differently. There’s a “camera” on the Home Center that has a sliding cover to turn the camera off, or at least that’s what the screen says. What the camera does, or how to use it is unknown. I’m led to believe that the home center can be a camera itself, but I don’t think so. I run one camera off battery & another off continuous power outside. My “Front Door” camera was charged to 75% 5 days prior to writing this review and the battery life is at 71% with intermittent /low motion detection and I find that to be great. You’re able to record and take ‘snapshot’ photos on the fly as well save files locally to your Phone/Tablet, or use the included MicroSD card in the Home Center to transfer recordings. I’ve used other security devices before and being able to save a copy locally to my phone was a lifesaver. A solid quality of the photo snapshots are great in day or night and the same goes with the video. Lastly, in the bundle I got a Range Extender / Repeater (AX62TR-Z) for cameras that are further from the Home Center, stretching the wireless range. I did have a tech support contact in case I ran into issues, but that email bounced saying I wasn’t allowed to email them - so here’s my experience as of July, 2021 … it doesn’t work with the new Home Center & there’s nothing on their website about it. Seriously, try to find it. The repeater blinks blue for pairing mode ** until the home center _or_ app try to add an extender ** -- then it blinks red permanently (lost communication with the Home Center), until it’s reset by holding the button on the bottom for 10 seconds. I even went as far as to add the ID on the sticker underneath, but there was no repeater in the menus to tie it to. I guess the alternative is, mine is faulty. Not good. Now, here’s a breakdown of the good, the meh, and some things that caught me by surprise … The Good: Physical: -Size of the Home Center -Size of the 2K UQHD cameras -Water-tight power cable -Wireless coverage -Battery Life Software: -Motion Zones -Snoozing Alerts -Adding new Cameras The Meh: - Lorex voice assistant - Both the App and Home center allow for a 1 or 4 camera view, not customizable for say, 2 cameras The surprising: - No AC Adapter for the charging cables - MicroUSB cables (vs USB-C) - Intermittent Google Home Hub connectivity (once connected to Google Assistant) - My repeater doesn’t work Overall, I recommend this system, especially if you want a little camera station that doesn’t involve a TV or your phone. This may be great for an older couple that’s hesitant to get into technology but still wants a bit of ‘visual’ piece of mind.

First and foremost I really really like Lorex. I have found them to be more superior in build, quality, and user friendliness with their interface compared to other competitors. Setup: Easy took about 10 mins Charging on 2 camera batteries took over night App setup was quick. I already had app so just scanned QR code and walked through process and I was in. Use: Easy app on Android use Easy console use Voice commands were easy to use Lag on Wifi was about 3 seconds Lag on 4G LTE was about 2 seconds. So lag was almost negligent WiFi extender was good. Was able to use to pass through 3 walls into my backyard Touch screen was nice and easy to use Home center was easy to navigate Resolution Home screen was nice and easy on the eyes 2K camera resolution was nice. Zoom and clarity with zoom was good too. Field of view was good both horizontal and vertical. It was a bit more than competitor that rhymes with bling. Nigh vision was ok. LED light on and switch to nigh color mode was a little slow. Over all design Cameras are slightly big. All necessary mounting hardware is included. Only ding on this is if you want to mount on a high shelf I wish you could adjust angle downward. Storage came with 64 GB purple micro SD card. With 2 cameras on full resolution.of 2k I used about 1GB in 1 day so do the math if you have 4 cameras that would be about 4 GB a day which will last you about 16 days worth. Expandable up to 1 TB with a solid state drive. Which I might do. Voice and speaker was easy to use and clear with minimal lag or distortion Siren was ok. Not too loud. Light use was decent and lit up during night use. Snap and video record was easy to use and save on your phone easy. I do wish I was able to get the compatible doorbell so I can replace my existing one and not have to pay for storage. I also wish I could access my fusion system so that I can tie everything together into 1 system. I don't think that will happen because the NVR platform is much more different than this a d would be a nightmare integration effort. Which leads me into the big plus. NO fees to access or store video. Like I said above I might buy a solid state drive and just dump my existing payment doorbell system. Base on my previous experience and the experience with Lorex Home I would highly recommend this with the functions it provides. Good job Lorex. Like I said only ding was the shelve mount and being able to point it don from high and the 64 GB of storage. Would recommend bigger micro SD card or a solid state drive.

A fun family of tech to install, seriously. I was actually really excited to set this up and the jump start is the Home Center which itself is slim, and a mini sculpture on my key drop table (pictured). The extender and cameras easily synch up with the Home Center through the setup and I added my other Lorex camera I had before. My favorite aspect of this product family is that it can grow with me from the two cameras to other security features (like the wired camera I already had). The picture quality is pristine and clear, the sound from the microphones is great, and on the Home Center you can watch all cameras at the same time! I felt like I was sitting in a security room watching my three cameras (in a fun way). The only cons I foresee are how easy an intruder might be able to pull the cameras off their mount and how easy it would be to unscrew the battery pack to disarm the devices outside. We are already loving that it can really detect pets and people so our bulldogs can play outside while we watch if we step away. Last but not least, no contracts to be able to watch my footage like other systems and I can extend the memory to each device with an SD card as an added bonus. I love my Lorex Home Center and hope to add the doorbell soon!

    Fusion Confusion

Don’t think just because two camera systems made by Lorex that are listed in the Fusion Collection will work with each other. There are very specific cameras that will work with each type of system between wired and wireless. Check their website beforehand if you intend to mix and match their cameras. With that aside, this Lorex Smart Home Security Center (LSHSC) has good potential. A self contained security system that doesn’t need a separate monitor. It can work offline, wired LAN or through 5Ghz WiFi. A system that works like the Lorex Home app on your mobile device, but on it’s own tablet-like stand. It is simple to set up, connect cameras, sensors or the wireless extender. It has PIN security or facial recognition with it’s own camera that has no other purpose, seems like missing potential of a camera that could be used for internal security. It has a built-in smart speaker that responds to “Lorex” commands. Both the microphone and facial camera can be blocked for added privacy. The cameras are fairly simple and look like small bookshelf speakers. They come with a removable battery pack, 6.6ft micro-USB cable, mounting bracket and hardware. You have to have your own regulated 5V 2A DC power supply and use of a non-regulated non-conforming power supply could damage the battery or camera and void the warranty. The nice thing though is that you can charge the battery on it’s own without having to remove and reposition the camera. The included quick start guides are odd as the LSHSC guide has different details on the individual cameras than the actual quick start guide for the cameras do. You have to look through each manual if you want the full picture and neither of them mention that micro-sd slot that is taped off inside the camera. Video quality of the camera is decent and defaults at 1080p, but can be changed to 2K(2560x1440). The recommendation for this higher resolution is to have it plugged in though, as it will consume more battery life. To view the higher quality recordings you have to back them up onto a USB or view the events through another device. Viewing live is much lower resolution and pixelated while using the record or snapshot option through the app remains at that low resolution. The wireless range is surprising and with the extender makes it even better. The biggest issue I have with this system is its lack of capturing activity and very short capture times. This is an issue with many wireless systems but found it really unreliable with this system. Even with the motion sensitivity and person detection set to their highest settings, there were times that it missed people walking to and from my front door. If it did catch someone it only showed 4 seconds in which you don’t even see what they are doing. The LSHSC guide shows the camera should be 7ft high and viewing range of 6.5ft to 32ft, but even in that zone it would barely catch a glimpse of the motion. I’ve had other cameras that would trigger on nonsense when set to this high of a sensitivity but this one doesn’t even catch me walking up to the house 75% of the time. The other camera is focused on the back of the house and not once noticed my dog walking around on my deck. There were even a few occasions where the LSHSC would show 1 event after walking in and out of the house 2 times, but when viewing playback through the Lorex Home App there were 4 separate, yet really short, clips of me leaving and returning. The point of a security camera is to be able to capture the moments of someone or something happening and if that is not happening the majority of the time, what is the point of even having the system. I have wired cameras and being able to catch everything, regardless of the system noticing motion, is the type of security I like to have. But, I know not everyone can run wires through a house for a complicated install, so a wireless system like this would be preferred. However, at the rate and duration this one has captured at, I can’t recommend it, even as simple and nice as it looks.

This is truly a great home security solution which delivers peace of mind. It has all the right features - great viewing angle, good motion detection, wireless, internet and LAN mode, expandable storage, and excellent battery life. The initial setup is super easy (except that the camera batteries take a fair amount of time to charge fully and there is no USB adapter in the box, so find those). The hub itself has a pretty simple setup wizard to walk you through the first installation. Install the Lorex Home app on your phone, create a Lorex account and follow the steps on screen. There is even a camera on the hub to setup face unlock along with a PIN. Linking the cameras to the hub is quick and simple - just press the sync button on the bottom of the camera, and add the device in the hub, it takes a few seconds for the camera to show up. Then you can name the camera - this is how you will be able to use voice control as well, so remember that in your choice of the name. The connection to Alexa is super simple as well, simply add the skill "Lorex Home", and login using your Lorex account. That's it, then you can start using voice commands on your Alexa like - "Alexa show me <camera name>". So now you have access to your camera feeds on the hub, on an Alexa device and your phone on the go. Now that you are setup with the default settings the motion detection settings and person detection settings are on too. They work really well, except don't repeat the same mistake as me, these do not work through double pane glass windows. Next step mounting the cameras - again Lorex has made it as easy as possible. There is a sticker for the mounting template, and they provide extra screws for when, well, you screw up. Once you hook up the camera to the mounting plate though, I wish that there was a bit more manoeuvrability. Although since the viewing angles are pretty great its not a big deal. One of my cameras was just about out of range from my hub, would lose connection intermittently, which gave me an excuse to use the WiFi extender. Again the easiest setup you could imagine, plug it in, press the sync button and add device on the hub, its found and added in a few seconds. If installed outside, you might want to turn off motion detection for some zones - perhaps on the public street - if you don't want it firing every single time a car or a person walks by. The more the motion detection wakes the camera up, the more battery gets consumed. I have the 2 cameras installed for exactly a week now, and they are at 90% and 85%, and that's after I played around with them for the first couple of days. I am pretty happy with that kind of battery life for normal use. Now down to the cons - 1. Wish it took longer videos when it does detect people, often the video cuts off as soon as the person is coming closer to the camera. boo hoo! 2. Also, there should have been car/vehicle detection as well (not just people detection) - for the camera over my garage, I would like for it to send me notifications if a car rolls into my driveway or somehow enters my garage somehow. Really hoping Lorex looks at these and is able to introduce this as software updates. I am definitely going to buy a couple more cameras for my home and perhaps a few sensors. Lastly, I love that Lorex is one of the solutions out there that does not require any subscription at all. But I really wish there was an option for some kind of monitoring, since I would need that for my home at some point, and that means I now have to have 2 separate security systems.

I’ve enjoyed using Lorex cameras but I was hoping they would eventually make a system that didn’t require me to run cables. I wasn’t sure what to except with setting up the unit, but it was fairly easy. The main hub has a touch screen which walked me through the entire setup process. Everything was simple and easy during the setup process except for one hiccup. I had to try several times to sync the first camera. The second camera synced with no problems. It also includes an extender which boosts the signal to cameras that are far from the base station. The extender was easy to pair and setup as well. The battery life has been pretty good so far, but not great. I assume I might have to charge the batteries one a month or every other month depending on how much activity is recorded. It would have been nice if the camera had a port on the outside which would have allowed me to plug the camera up and keep it plugged up if I wanted to go that route. The only way to charge the camera is by taking the battery pack out and charging the battery itself since the port to plug in is on the battery itself. The touch screen on the base unit is very responsive, has little to no lag, and is easy to navigate. The cameras do a good job of person detection and has not triggered false alarms like other security cameras I’ve owned. The cameras also have very good night vision. When viewing the cameras at night it looks as though someone turned on outside lights. The night vision is black and white and not color. The cameras also produce a very clear image during daylight hours. The only thing I would suggest they fix is the Play Button on the hub that allows you to view all cameras at the same time. The Play Button is fairly small. I also had problems with not receiving notifications on the mobile app. I disabled the notifications on the main hub and enabled them again. Notifications on my mobile device begging to work properly afterwards. Overall, I’m pleased with the unit and what it offers.

Thank you for the positive review as well as sharing your concern regarding the battery and keeping it charged. There is actually a way to do this. On the back of the camera there is a power port which allows you to plug in a power adapter. This will keep the battery charged and prevent you from having to remove the battery to charge it. I like what Lorex has been putting out lately. This is a smart hub that connects the 2 included wireless battery operated cameras. This allows for you to pull up the footage easily in say the kitchen. Also I have not connected it but there is a video doorbell, outdoor camera's and flood lights that all connect. There is an easy to use app for when your not home. Also you can connect Apple TV's and download the app for viewing around the house or elsewhere. Really a great setup that does not require any monthly fee's. The setup was pretty simple. Charge the batteries, install then plug in the smart hub and follow the prompts. Really simple. I did not end up needing the included hub since I have strong wireless but this is very valuable to be able to add to an outside camera that may keep falling offline. Operation: IT has a pretty good field of view and clear. I find the compression from the wireless to be more choppy and delayed at times. I am also concerned if I forget to charge the batteries they will just stop working. Luckily there is a pretty long and standard usb cable so I may wire them up long term. The night mode is pretty clear. Not as clear as their outdoor wired cameras but pretty good for home security. The notifications were pretty accurate in picking up when a person entered the room. The sound ended up getting muted on the hub since it can be annoying. Cons: I think the older Lorex NVR system should be compatible and they should integrate with a smart thermostat to really make the hub more useful. Also beyond footage all I can display is the weather. Would be nice if you could have more app's or slideshow's to look nicer in the kitchen. Finally the price is pretty steep for what you get but competing products are priced similar.

First off, No Monthly subscription is a growing and much welcomed companion for home security. This Lorex setup is a wonderful choice for any household and could offer more than just home security options. Honestly, I used it more to watch my son and daughter play basketball and whatever else in the driveway. I have even put it in the kitchen facing the stove so we can keep an eye on dinner cooking while watching our favorite shows. But yes, it also works great for home surveillance. The system is super easy to setup however, if you want to use the Wireless feature for the Home Center you must have a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection available. The touch screen menu features are quite user friendly and even have swipe gestures. The cameras are very well built and offer an external port to allow you to plug them in lieu of using the batteries and having to charge them. The batteries do last a good while but if the camera is in a high activity area you will need to be mindful to charge regularly, so mounting high up is maybe not the best plan. The camera quality is exquisite, and you are able to pick out good details in the stills such as a license plate. The app works much like the Home Center allowing and was easy to setup by just pairing your device via the displayed QRL code. The Lorex is a cool conversational piece, deterrent device, and home monitoring system all in one aesthetically pleasing little hub.

This system is simple to set up and my initial use has shown it to be rock solid. It came with 2 wireless 1080p cameras, however you can add more. The package comes with the base unit already having a 64 GB micro SD card. I like the SD card method so that you can remove the card and insert a different card each month or whenever you like. This preserves the data so it is not overwritten inadvertantly. Of course this means no monthly fees to store data and no potential exposure from storing data in the cloud. The base unit contains a very clear 7” touch screen that is wonderful – sharp and has vibrant colors. The setup uses the base unit and your cell phone. You download the ‘Lorex Home’ app and this gives you another display which is also mobile. You can play prior videos or display the live views of either camera on the base unit or your cell phone. You can decide on notifications and other parameters, it's easy to do. This system also includes a WiFi extender. I have found with prior wireless cameras, the farthest units will have trouble connecting sometimes. Lorex removes this exposure by providing a nice WiFi extender with this system. Again it is simple to add the extender to your system with a few steps after everything is already set up. I should note that the cameras did reach the base unit from my garage without the extender, however with the extender it appeared the live feed came up a little quicker. Also you can check that the cameras are using the extender or are using the base. The cameras did switch ‘automagically’ to the WiFi extender after I configured it – nice. The quality of the devices, software and videos is excellent. The instructions are clear and guide you to get everything installed with no troubles. I noticed on the Lorex website that Lorex is very sharp in terms of clarity and I did make a call on a minor question and got an answer in minutes, very little wait time and excellent knowledge from the technician – tip of my cap to Lorex. You will need to charge the batteries in the cameras. They are lithium, your amount of usage will dictate when you need to re-charge the batteries. The amount of charge is shown on your Lorex Home Center base screen for each camera; so it is easy to know when to charge them. You can remove the battery to charge or charge with the batteries installed in the cameras. There are always tradeoffs between wired, fully wireless and wireless with power connections to the cameras. This type of unit requires no wiring – no power to run and no signal wiring to run. I find that this is a very easy way to get your security system setup. The sophistication of the Lorex system takes the installation complexity and virtually removes it. I do recommend this great system for its quality, ease of install, crystal clear videos and functionality.

    Outstanding Home Monitoring System

This Lorex Home Center security camera system is well above average for your home security camera needs. In the box you get the Home Center, two 2k weatherproof cameras, and a range extender. When you first open the box you may be intimidated by all that's there but take the time to read the guides with each piece of equipment so you get it up and running right. Trust me on this! Setup is fairly straightforward. I charged the camera batteries, located just where I wanted my cameras outside of my house, drilled some holes, mounted the cameras, and was off to the races. Next up I placed the Home Center on one of my home office desks, plugged it in, and proceeded to set that up. One nice thing Lorex did was include a 64GB microSD card already inserted in the unit. If you'd like you could also attach an external SSD drive which I'll be doing once I find my USB to USB-C adaptor. This way I'll have plenty of storage space. Setup here is fairly easy. I plugged in the unit, connected it via Ethernet to a hub in my office, connected to my Wi-Fi network and got the cameras connected. This you can do on the Home Center if you don't want to deal with using a phone app. You're going to want to use a phone app (iOS in my case) if you want to monitor the cameras on the go or pull up recorded video. To me the beauty of this system is I have full control and access to recordings on the go without paying for features like with my Arlo camera setup. With Arlo I do have local copies stored to a microSD card inserted into the hub but cannot access them short of pulling the card. This Lorex system is the superior product just this feature alone! Now the Home Center, or hub as I call it, has several features. You can tell it to show you a camera, bring up your local weather, unlock via your face, and other things I haven't even explored yet. Me, personally I skip that stuff. I'll just unlock with a pass code at my desk. I've got the privacy cover over the camera and have muted the mic. The iOS app is easy to use to access your cameras remotely or to view recordings. The included range extender seems to work ok but I don't think I really need it as the cameras are mounted fairly close to the hub. Image quality is above average and night mode is a step above the competition in this category, in my opinion. The light is incredibly bright when engaged and the two way speakers is, well, it's ok. Battery life ont the cameras so far seem all right but it's only been installed a few days so we'll see how they hold up. Overall I am very happy with this system and already see myself adding more cameras in the near future.

I have been using this camera system for a little while. It does have a fish eye appearance, but, very clear and crisp Images. Great wide angle captures good width and distance. Both cameras linked to base with no trouble. I installed the range Extender and worked fine, but found I really don’t need it as both Cameras are working good without it. I do find using the Lorex Home Center base has a more cumbersome interface than When using the app, so, I prefer the App. Features include: Performance mode which include Powe-Save, Optimized, Hi Performance and Custom. Battery Status, Audio Recording, Status Led and Image Rotation. Auto Night Vision and Privacy Mode. You can set Detection Sensitivity. I have Person Detection turned On (Off by default) so now I only have alerts for people, not cars and Such. There are light settings and motion zones. Images are saved on a Micro SD card. You can also add a internal SSD for additional storage. Has Google/Alexa voice and can even Check weather conditions. The Big Plus here; is this system is singular, meaning no service Fees. Just uses your internet connection. Packed with a bunch of User options. The Price is very reasonable.

I must admit, I did not have a lot of hope being impressed for the Lorex Home Center. Sure , Lorex has been a name in home security cameras for years. But, in my mind, they were always about clunky hard wired systems and not in the arena of the Arlo, Samsung, Nest or even Dlink ( all of which I own.) I was totally wrong. The Lorex Home Center is simply fantastic. In review: Set up- I was shocked at how fast and easy this was to set up. Compared to all the other systems I own, this was the fastest and easiest by far. I was able to set up the hub and two cameras in less than 10 minutes. I even screwed up the set up and must have made an error in my password. I could not link the hub to the Lorex Home app because of the password error so I reset and start over. The second time set up was done in only a few minutes. I’ve never had another system that sets up so fast. Control and range– The Lorex Home Center comes with hub and range extender. The kit I received came with two cameras. The hub itself is responsive, clear and well built. It can be unlocked with facial id or a passcode. Once unlocked, you can live view your camera, play back videos, device settings and more. Additional functions can be accessed with voice prompts. I have not had great success with the voice commands but everything else works well. I’m not saying something is wrong, I just have not got the hang of it yet. There is an option for a SD card and a SSD. The SSD option is amazing, you literally can put a large SSD into the home center to store video. There are limitations to which SSD you can use but what an amazing feature. Since the Lorex Smart Hub is basically a smart screen, I would made it a Google Home to be a true home run. On the downside, it is only 5 GZ device so you are out of luck if you only have a 2.4 Ghz network if you want a wireless only option. But not all is lost, the hub actually has a Cat 5 connector on the back. Nice. As mentioned, the Lorex Home Center comes with a range extender. I installed that as part of the setup and it was up and running in a minute. I live in 800 sq ft apartment and had no connectivity issues. Now since my apartment is not large, I cannot say how much of a difference it makes. However, I can say that I have better video connection than the Arlo I have in the same spot as the Lorex on the outside of my window. Video cams – The Lorex cameras are 2K QHD, battery-operated cameras that are designed for both outdoors and indoors. Video is relatively sharp video but not as good as the Arlo. The video cameras have night vision, and intelligent motion detection. When the cameras detect a person, you will get an alert on your mobile device. They also have light, but I found it too small to be effective except in the smallest of areas. At 2K, the video was not as good as some of the 4K devices but is still very clear. The reality is , for bandwidth concerns, you probably do not want much more than that. Once thing I did notice is the batteries are huge in comparison compared to Arlo – like more than twice the size . I have owned Lorex Home Center and cameras for about week and the battery is still at nearly 100%. On the downside, the cameras are larger than the competition. I will take battery life any day over size, so this does not bother me. I will be mounting one of cameras on an Arlo mount for outside. It does come with mounts but I need an Arlo type of design with a 90 degree angle. The app – I installed the Lorex Home App on my Samsung Note Ultra 20. No issues and easy to sign up. I like the app – it is basic, streamlined and does the job. You can view all your devices and liver stream. Other companies should take note that sometimes a clean, simple interface is best. The Lorex Home Center with 2K QHD cameras hits all the marks and sells itself on the merits of the hardware. With that in mind, it doesn’t require a cloud subscription. That is correct, they stand out from nearly all the rest by not charging you for storage or functions. Competitors like Nest even charge you for full functionality (leading me to not recommend it.) It’s hard to really define any negatives other than things I would like to have seen - battery back up in the hub, direct Google Home in the hub, brighter light in the camera. All of those barely knock down this great product. When people see the $400 retail price they might balk but you get a lot of great equipment up front for no additional cost. Quick set up, quality hardware, variety of sensors and accessories, no cloud subscription – this is an easy recommendation. In fact, I think this is this the best system out there when you weigh in what you get for the money. 5 stars Lorex, great job.

So after seeing this pop up I really wanted to test this system out from Lorex as I've received other security camera products before from Lorex and was thoroughly impressed with those. So going into this I had high hopes for this bundle with 2 included 2K Smart Deterrence Outdoor Wireless Cameras. Unpacking the box, you will find 4 separate boxes inside: Box 1 (Main Box): Lorex Smart Home Security Center, Power Adapter, Ethernet Cable, and a Pre-Installed Memory Card. Box 2 (Camera 1): Wire-Free Camera, Battery Pack, Power Cable, Mounting Bracket, Anchors & Screws, Mounting Template, and Mounting Plate. Missing or purposely not included is a Power Adapter to charge Battery Pack (I'll speak on this later). Box 3 (Camera 2): Wire-Free Camera, Battery Pack, Power Cable, Mounting Bracket, Anchors & Screws, Mounting Template, and Mounting Plate. Missing or purposely not included is a Power Adapter to charge Battery Pack (I'll speak on this later). Box 4 (Extender Box): Extender, Power Adapter, and Power Cable. Upon unboxing everything and getting ready to setup the system, right away from the get-go I noticed that there was no Power Adapters for either camera. I double and triple checked to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I contacted Lorex via email and was not happy with their response. I informed them that as I went to setup the system, that I noticed there was no Power Adapters included in the packaging for the cameras. I sent a picture of the manual which clearly states, "May include one or more, depending on the package purchased." To me that says that depending on what package you have, you should have at least the number of chargers based on the number of cameras you have. Seeing as how this bundle comes with 2 cameras, one would expect to have 2 Power Adapters included. The next response that I received from Lorex was, "the manual, may be incorrect." Now I've dealt with other manufacturers in the past, and if/when a customer contacts them over missing parts, most will without hesitation send out the missing parts to the customer immediately no questions asked. Lorex wanted me to take pictures of everything I had so that they could verify whether or not I had everything. Well based on other reviews here, I was not the only one with missing Power Adapters from their package. Now considering the day and age we all live in, most consumers like myself may have an extra couple of Power Adapters lying around the house from other various tech products we own i.e. cell phones, tablets, or other electronic devices, that we could easily use to charge the battery packs for this camera system. However, if I walk into Best Buy to purchase this system at $599.99, I would expect it to have all parts included in the system when I get home to set it up. I would be highly upset that I'd have to either purchase additional Power Adapters or hunt for some around the house. Ok, so after finding a couple of chargers that I could use to charge both cameras simultaneously, I sat and waited as instructed by the manual for about 4.5 to 5 hours waiting for the cameras to be fully charged. Once the cameras were fully charge, I was able to setup system and get it running. You will need to download the Lorex app from the iOS App Store for iPhone or Google Play Store for Android. After downloading the app and setting up an account, the Home Center will guide you through the rest of the process of adding your cameras to the Home Center. Once I got my cameras added, I was blown away with the video quality. Very stunning HD. The Home Center display is touch screen and has a ton of different settings and options for you to tweak however you see fit. I will say that this is a nice camera system that brings everything to one spot with the Home Center. If the powers that be at Lorex can get their act together and make sure all parts are included in the packaging I would be more inclined to recommend this to others. Especially with it being stated in the manual that that Power Adapters are to be included; and not give the one the response that the manual was incorrect.

    nice camera security system

I have tried out many different camera security systems and this is one of my favorites so far. there are a couple things that I would like to mention. first one being that for some reason, and I have tried to go thru the settings and also have contacted Lorex and still no answer, but the cameras seem to go to sleep after 30 seconds to a minute. they still work, they still record activity and all but as far as viewing them, I have to keep waking them up. I have them plugged in so at times I would like to keep watching a camera. for instance, if I am expecting a delivery, I like the camera to stay on. this would bother me more if the cameras turned off but because they still record when they detect movements etc. then for now ill put up with having to tap to wake up when I want to look at the camera. another thing, is that each camera and the extender comes with a micro usb that plugs into the device and a regular usb on the other end. however it only comes with 1 wall outlet. so you will have to provide your own usb wall outlet plugs. also just the fact of using a micro usb now. would prefer to see a usb c into the device. and the cords are decent size but not that long. so you would need to be close to a outlet if you want to keep it plugged in. last thing, a little disappointed that the cable is not that long. I would not mind if they provided extra batteries so that if one goes dead you can replace the battery and still have a camera working in the location you want. however this was not the case. so you have to either keep it close to a outlet. I want to say within 10-15 feet. or you can use without a cord but then if you want to recharge, you then have to move it close to a outlet so you can still use the camera, or take battery out and have no camera. on that note, I do like that it can be used without being plugged in. this is great if you have a main location that you can keep it plugged in at, but then want to maybe move it to a different spot temporarily. I enjoy that it comes with a extender and monitor. with the monitor you can view both cameras at the same time, or you can click on a camera and view just that camera using the whole monitor screen. you can listen and talk thru each camera as well. and set alarms. great for times my kids are playing a game and cant hear us call. we just hit the alarm button that flashes the lights and is loud. gets there attention lol. over all like I said, a great system to have. just a few things and hoping that the one with the cameras going to sleep, can be fixed and just for some reason me. but if not, maybe they can update the software.

    Good wireless system

Let me begin by saying that I have a wired Lorex system that has 8 4K cameras and have been using it for the past two years. I understand that there will be a difference between wired and wireless so I had already reset my expectations. As for the Home center, I love the concept of being able to see my cameras on a dedicated screen rather than just my phone or computer. This system has a lot of very nice features in it that make it simple to setup and use. Once you have everything out of the box, follow the simple on-screen instruction and you should be connected and seeing images in the cameras in a matter of a few minutes (once you have charged the camera batteries). The touchscreen is very intuitive for anyone who has used a tablet or smartphone. It has its own built in voice control so you can issue a number of requests without touching the unit. It can also connect to your home network wired or wirelessly. It you want to connect the unit wirelessly your wifi network must support both 2.4 and 5Ghz bandwidth. The cameras are 2K and do provide a nice clear picture. Setting up viewing access on the Lorex app is also pretty simple. I use the same app for both the Home Center and my wired cams. Overall a pretty good system. Now there were a few quirks that I had to adjust for. First, the unit would beep every time a camera detected motion. I'm sure there are cases where this would be helpful but for me it was downright annoying. Luckily you can turn this off in the options. My setup came with a range extender and although I don't have to use it I did connect it to see if there was any difference. None that I could tell other than it does beep when one of the cameras connected to it detects motion. Again, you can turn the volume to zero in settings. One of the bigger items I was not use to is that the cameras are not persistent like my wired cameras are. It makes sense to conserve battery life but it does mean that when you access your camera there is a slight delay before you get the image. Other than that, I have had the system up and running for the past week and it has done well. After a week of me playing with the system, the cameras batteries are down only 15%. This includes me turning the lights on on the cameras, trying the siren (yes each camera has a siren) and taking pictures. Since the cameras are close to outlets I may see if having them plugged in is an option.

Included in this set are two wireless (rechargeable) indoor/outdoor cameras and a small but surprisingly responsive touch-screen monitor which is also the control center. There was also a compact range extender included that I did not need. All cables and adapters are included. Mounting hardware for the cameras is included but it is a little fussy and strangely designed for my taste. The home center appears to be capable of monitoring two additional inputs (doorbell cameras, various additional forms of cameras, sensors, etc.). Setup is very simple. I chose my setup with wi-fi so that I could receive motion alerts over my smart phone. However, it also possible to establish this system fully locally without remote access. Imaging is incredibly clear, even at the lowest resolution setting. Color rendering and adaptability based on problems with back lighting are surprisingly good. This is not designed to be a continuously recording system - it records based on motion detection. And while I found the defaults to be well chosen, the menu options allow for refinements in area lighting, in sensitivity of motion detection, and in person detection. Most impressively, though, for the field of view of each camera, it is also possible to restrict sensitivity to user-defined rectangular motion zones (like if you want to monitor your front porch but don't want to be alerted by every car passing your house on the street beyond your porch). Most important of all: this is a fully self-contained system - meaning that Lorex isn't trying to sell you something with limited functionality in the interest of selling you a subscription to some larger functionality or service. There is no additional expense expected or required here for full functionality (unless you want to add a couple extra devices). This is a very desirable starter security system.

I would recommend this to a friend
