Love and Monsters may not be the most original spin on the post-apocalyptic genre, but combined within the framework of a coming to age movie and some really inventive world design work, it's a worthwhile adventure. The cast is great with Dylan O'Brien leading most of the show on his own. The visual effects are solid and the creatures really inventive with fun energy. It's low-key entertainment that plays with a lot of conventions and has a great time doing it. Not the greatest film ever made, but if you've been stuck indoors for a long time it provides some much-needed escapism. Paramount Pictures delivers Love and Monsters to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray with excellent results for both discs. While the 4K UHD Blu-ray is the superior presentation thanks to Dolby Vision HDR, the 1080p SDR Blu-ray holds its own offering up a strong A/V presence as well. If you're rocking 4K, that's the best way to go, but if you're happy with standard Blu-ray, you should be happy with the results here as well. It's a fun movie well worth checking out. The trailers didn't wow me but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Put a big smile on my face when I needed it most. Recommended.

This was not a bad movie. The effects were adequate the story engaging and it was better than I expected. I would give it around 3.5 stars but I cant do that here and I thought it was better than a 3 so 4 it is. The sound and visuals were good but not really reference quality. For me this made a good streaming movie that would find a way to do well in a theater in a non- pandemic world. The YA crowd it is aimed at may like it more than this curmudgeon but it still falls short of blockbuster material. I think it falls a little short in the acting... everyone is trying but it just doesn't quite get there. This sounds like a bad review but it isn't- you won't find that you are angry you spent time in this world, you might even like it and watch it a few times but I think most may find it pleasant but ultimately forgettable. I th iij nk it's because the main characters and their relationship is not compelling enough and that is really important to this story. Also Michael Rooker needs more screen time. So kn short- wanted to love it... just ended up thinking it was ok. Your mileage may vary.

    Love and Monsters 4k

I really enjoyed this movie, especially in colorful high definition 4k, lots of monsters and special effects, and enjoyed funny moments and sad times with the robot. It is different than other apocalyptic films similar to the tom hanks apple movie, though not as realistic because of the big bug monsters. If Starship Sroopers and the movie Finch had a baby it would be Love and Monsters. If you like offbeat monster movies witth great scenery get this.

One of the more enjoyable movies in recent years. As a child of the 80s and 90s, I struggle to find modern movies that I really enjoy. This is one that is a fun watch. The idea is a young guy who is trying to reach his girls friend living in a different city after a disaster. The writing and acting are all very good. The monsters are interesting and just scary enough without being gory and bloody. The video quality of the HDR 4K is excellent, especially when watching on a good quality tv and player. Soundtrack does go from really quiet to really loud in a few spots where the differences are distracting and you might either have to turn volume up or down depending on your setup.

I'm a big action/ monster movie/ creature feature fan. And this movie was on point!! Dylan O'Brien is one of my top fav actors, because he does a really good job of pulling you into whatever role he's playing. The 'Maze Runner' movie series had me sold on his acting. So this movie was a must watch for me. Really hope they make a part 2 to this, because they need to show more monsters the next time. ...Oh yeah!! The creatures were AWESOME!!! Great special effects!!

Blind purchase based on Rotten Tomatoes fresh rating. Very enjoyable little film with a PG-13 rating so just about the entire family except maybe the youngest members could watch it together. Mostly narrated by the main character Dylan Obrien, has great opening but does slow down in the middle before the action pack conclusion. I have a 4K television and blu-ray player so I opted for this version. However, like any movie heavy with CGI it's a personal preference as to whether or not the sharper image improves the picture. Regardless, the HDR boosts the lush outdoor sets. I would recommend this movie to a friend.

What originally drew my attention to this fun flick was that it was about a journey from Fairfield, CA to Jenner, Ca on a quest for love. I live in between these locations in Sonoma County. Sure, it was filmed in Australia, but they tried to put in local objects, like Six Flags in Vallejo and the windmills not to far from Fairfield. Original story and great monsters. The CG is great. There's a great dog, and interesting people along the way. But, most of all, it has a BIG HEART!

I am a Science Fiction fan for many years. I am a great fan of The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. This movie is a totally different perspective on the Apocalypse story. We are used to the zombies and the fight for survival as seen in so many films and shows. This tale centers on the survival of the characters while fighting mutated insects and such. It includes a great story, actors and special effects. I really enjoyed it !
