Before you buy this movie keep in mind that they will talk in Shakespirian language, so it will be kinda hard to actually understand if you are not familiarized with it. Having said that, I believe this is the mist faithful adaptation to the source material that I have seen, with an excellent performance by Michael Fassbender. If you enjoy slow-burn films and Shakespeare, then you will enjoy this one.

If you're looking for a modernized version or one with highly stylized music/production, you might be a bit bored by this version which is a little quiet and slow going but it has a great ending which makes it more than worth seeing. I think it could have used a bit more music for evoking emotion-it was very stripped down, but that was obviously the director's choice to make it seem more stark (like Macbeth needs help with that). It did make it seem more medieval as opposed to some other films in the same genre which are a bit too modernized to be realistic. I don't want to give away the ending, but suffice it say, you've never seen Birnam wood come to Dunsinane quite like this, very inventive if not true to Shakespeare's intentions but I think he would approve.

A faithful and memorable Shakespeare adaptation

Stellar performances from Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard help bring Justin Kurzel's retelling of Shakespeare's classic tale to life. While remaining mostly faithful to it's source materials orgins, "Macbeth" still delivers its own visual style and flair in this dark tale of ambition, passion and self destruction amongst the horror and carnage of war torn Scottland. Fassbender sizzles as the lead and Cotillard brings her protrayal of the iconic Lady MacBeth to new heights. This bloody and cold retelling carries the weight of the story-line's unspeakable deed to the forefront, forever changing its protagonists to the point of madness. This excellent adaptation is a wonderful homage to Shakespeare's original work and is well worth the watch.

    Magneto does Shakespeare

This is probably the only Shakespeare play I enjoy after Hamlet. It's imagery is very raw and brutal I felt, which is a good thing. The battle scenes are well coordinated and the costumes are nice as well. Macbeth is played by magneto aka Micheal Fassbender and his wife is played by Talia from the dark knight rises. But be aware that the dialogue is "ye olde english" as Shakespeare wrote, that might be off putting for some.

For those that like 300, Game of Thrones AND Shakespeare, this is the adaptation for you. For everyone else, you will find equal emphasis on text and violence, however that suits you. There is real anguish and savagery here, some strong performances and good use of location. Best film adaptation since Polanski's version, to which it bears resemblance.

This movie is a gripping interpretation of Shakespeare's Macbeth and was played perfectly by Michael Fassbender. The acting and cinematography are absolutely brilliant and they couldn't have chosen a better actor than Fassbender. Marion Cottilard who played Lady Macbeth did a great job as well. I've watched different versions of this movie from different directors but I can honestly say that this is the best and that says a lot about this movie!

This film is a great adaptation of a great play. Fassbender and Cotillard are both great as is the supporting cast. The only gripe I have with the film is that I feel that it uses slow motion too many times. Other than that, if you enjoy Shakespeare or Medieval epics, you will enjoy this film.

This is the film adaptation that Macbeth deserves. The acting is superb and the cinematography is gorgeous from opening scene to credits. The film is very subdued in a good way. The scenery, battle scenes, and even the acting is reserved and pays homage to its theatrical roots.

A solid and fast moving adaptation of the Scottish play. The acting and set pieces are all very well done and the movie moves swiftly through its plot points. Some of the more famous speeches are performed in unexpected and sometimes surprisingly refreshing ways. It's worth watching.

Visually stunning. This movie is like a work of art. Story of Macbeth. Great cast. Great director. Michael Fassbender is everywhere and kills it in this movie. Marion Cotillard kills it as well. I also believe Michael, Marion and the director are all working on the new Assassins Creed movie. So you can see them all work together before that releases in the end of the year. Try this movie out. You won't regret it.

MACBETH is not for the faint at heart. The performances of Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard are brilliant. If you are looking for something fast paced, this may not be your cup of tea. This is a very thought provoking drama with intense moments and subtle passages.

Kurzel's take on Macbeth is one that explores the toll on a man who's never over war, suffering or loss and seeks yet another fight in which only one can come out on top. Fassbender and Cotillard lead the way but also backed by some surpringly standout supporting work.

A great movie with a fantastic ensemble cast, a play that has been done many times over on film but yet never seen solutions touch when it's in the right hands and a film that has touches of Kurasawa and Kubrick make for another great talent of a timeless story.

If you understand old Shakespearean English , then continue. This latest adaptation of MACBETH brings a new twist that's relatable to modern warfare. Post traumatic syndrome caused by war fatigue is a major subplot. Both Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, fantastic.

The Macbeth is one of Shakespeare's most famous play's. Although it was written in about 1600-1602, it could be apply to men desire in absolute power nowadays without any doubt. Michael Fassbender (Macbeth) and Marion Cottilard (Lady Macbeth) are absolutely fantastic in their performance. I have seen a number of different versions in theaters and movies but this movie did impress me most so far.

If you're a fan of Shakespeare's work, this film is for you. If you're not a fan, but are open to something different and thought-provoking, you should check it out. Filled with superb acting, great sounds and a brutal, visually enthralling cinematography, 'Macbeth' is nothing short of amazing and one of the best adaptations to date. To put it simple, Fassbender owns the role.
