Awesome Receiver very powerful with great features
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing unit and I got at a steal (open box/clerance) since this particular model is about 5 years old. Not sure why it's showing up priced more than the newer model (SR8015) but hopefully this review will help others. The biggest differences from the 8012 and the 8015 are in the video features. The newer model is more compatible with newer TV's that supports E-ARC and HDMI 2.2. This 8012 unit doesn't, so again not sure why it's being priced more than the 8015. If you are like me and can get this at a great price and are more concerned with the power output then go for it. You can find products on Amazon like a E-ARC HDMI extractor that will help you with connecting to newer TV's.

Amazing receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned many of marantz receivers, but this one by far has been the best one I have owned so far. The set up was very easy, even for a beginner it would be easy, the 11 channels of power are amazing with the new sound formats or even with old sound formats. The receiver is a little bit on the pricey side, but well worth it in my opinion.

OLD SCHOOL BUILD QUALITY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Growing up in the 70s and 80s,I was spoiled by the receivers that Japan was producing for the American audio market. They were of solid construction and were made to rock. Come the 90s,most audio/video equipment manufacturers have gone to cheaper factories in China and Vietnam to produce their products and it shows in how light their models have become in weight and the sound is not as rich due to using IC chips in the sound path instead of capacitors. BEHOLD....Marantz is producing some of its models in Japan again and the SR8012 (The Beast) is one of them. It has a HUGE toroidal transformer and not the cheap U shaped ones. Well laid out separate power supplies for all functions and good sized aluminum heat sinks. Set up is a breeze once you connect it to your tv (Menu functions) as it allows you to custom tailor your speaker settings(frequency response on the fronts and surrounds and not just small, medium, large). Uncluttered front just like the rest of the Marantz family with the extras hidden behind a front 'Drawbridge Door". So when shopping for an Old School Quality AV receiver, consider the Marantz SR8012. I doubt that you will be disappointed.

What a Difference
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from a Yamaha RX A3030 that went out on me. WOW what a difference. I am hearing things in all speakers I have not heard in a long time. Sound is crisp and accurate. FLAC music files sound amazing. And I had never heard Dolby Atmos before and it is amazing. Currently running a 7.2.2 setup and will be upgrading to full 7.2.4 soon. I am not disappointed with this system. Marantz support is great. I received one unit that was not working right and Marantz tech went through everything before we determined that it was defective and advised that I return it to Best Buy. BTW Best Buy Tacoma was amazing in dealing with me and expedited my replacement. The store manager and the Magnolia HIFI person were fantastic. I do like the way Yamaha does internet radio and such better, but I don't use that feature that often so the Marantz version is more than adequate for me. Heos support is a nice feature as I have Heos speakers in my house. So far I have no complaints or regrets. Well worth the price, in my opinion.

Too Much, and great for it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was planning on waiting a little while longer on this; hope to come back later on with more. First off, if you're honestly looking at it and can afford the price, I cannot imagine how you would ever be sorry for this purchase. It's as future proof as they can make it right now and supplies a LOT of power to all the speakers, with that warm Marantz sound, excellent Odyssey processing and several ceiling-speaker configurations and processing modes to choose from. I still have not played with the Auro-3D, although I configured my speakers in the manner suggested for that. DTS X: Neuro and Dolby Atmos are great, and the receiver itself helps you find things you haven't heard before in even the most familiar material (I didn't think there was anything else RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK could sound like, and I was wrong). A truly great receiver. Look into getting a cooling unit for it; I got one and life is great. Be prepared to spend time going through the manual and really listening to what this has to offer, on all settings and at every input. Oh, also beautiful and huge.

Great A/V Receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this A/V receiver to power the Dolby Atmos system in my new home. No regrets! This receiver has excellent power and clarity to make my system sound better than the theater! I'm not a big fan of the HEOS setup, but it's only a minor nuisance. Once you get the settings the way you want them, LOOKOUT! I even have it simultaneously sending video and sound to a second television in my outdoor living area! With all the power, this thing generates a lot of heat, though. Make sure it is in a well-ventilated area.

Exceptional quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best receiver i have ever owned . Very easy to access control functions . Plenty of power to drive my 5.1 set up. There is a lot more left for future addons. I can truly hear the difference in sound quality compared to my last set up. I combined this system with the panasonic dp9000 and used hdmi cables to separate the the audio and video WOW! Made in Japan Not china.

Marantz SR 8012 Awsome!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have waited 3 yrs to buy a Marantz. The SR 8012 is the "bees knees!" Not cheap, but we'll worth the wait! Nothing compares to the warmth Marantz sound puts out! All future proofed!! The only issue is the settings on the video application. Between the bluray player and the tv. Something gets lost when using the full screen 16:9. Keep getting the bars. All in 4K still, but just keep getting the bars top and bottom, or on sides and tv and everything is set to stretch full screen. I am still looking into it. Also when playing a normal DVD on a 4k player, it does not recognize it, and won't turn on. 4K Blurays and regular blurays, no problem. Will not see dvd's on same player. All in all, very happy with the investment!!

Great piece of equipment!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The marantz sr8012 is by far one of the best sounding av receivers I’ve listened to. This piece of equipment can take your plan setup and use its correction software to get the most out of what you have. I would recommend to anyone in the market for a receiver.
