Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Elite Series 2 Core Wireless Controller's high-quality build, excellent battery life, and comfortable grip. Many appreciate the customization options and the controller's overall feel and weight. However, customers are negative about the prevalence of stick drift issues reported by some users, as well as concerns about the durability of certain buttons and bumpers. The positive feedback on features like customization and feel is frequently offset by negative experiences with controller longevity.

*If you want to risk it with this controller DO BUY the Geek Squad Warranty.. Because if it does out last the return period it will eventually fail.* Pros: - Swappable thumbsticks & D-Pad - Grip - Paddle Ready - First Party Wireless Capability - 10 foot Cable - Very Sleek Looking - Swappable Profiles Cons: - Terrible QC - Same tired components - No Case - Terrible buttons - Terrible buttons - DId I mention terrible buttons? Microsoft claims there are new components in these controllers but they are literally the same as previous Elites of years past. Don't get me wrong there are many people that say they have had zero problems with their controllers but I myself have had quite the opposite experience. Out of the box this controller's A button would not register every press. As a heavy Rocket League player this literally spelt disaster. I would not hit my flip or I would double jump into the air looking like a Plat I... The grip and sticks were nice but I feel the face buttons and bumpers/triggers are ALWAYS the down fall of the Elite controllers. I have had 4 different Elites over the last 5-6 years and no longer have any of them due to defects. I have had double/triple pressing RB, stick drift, Face buttons ( Such as the A button with this one) not pressing or double pressing and Paddle buttons not registering as well... For this to be labeled a premium controller yet still be plagued with issues from 5+ years ago is INSANE. There are other alternatives out there both cheaper and more expensive that I would usher you towards instead of this.. PowerA Fusion Pro 2 (still ahs its issues) or the Scuf Instinct Pro (pricier than this).

Don’t buy the care plan on open-box! So I finally make it to a store 3hrs away. And was blown off by the in-store rep when i explained the situation. Forced to get blue one aaand pay the difference!! TRASH CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I returned 3 of this same color in white to Best Buy with multiple problems with the buttons. They have many faults. Please test your control and if not, return it.

    Stick Drift Quality Control Nightmare

Exchanged for a total of 3 times, first one the select button intermittently worked, other 2 had stick drift right out of the box and 2 days into using it...finally exchanged the 4th time for a black elite (the more expensive one) and now this one has stick drift after 4 days of usage...i cannot understand WHY Xbox has such poor quality control and products for as much as they cost! Absolutely ridiculous. Other than these issues the controllers feel great, have a good weight to them, and are very user friendly...but i cannot overlook the blatant issues!

    My Third Defective Controller

This is my 3rd defective controller. My first one lasted 5 months and the right trigger started grinding and not pressing correctly, I had that one sent to microsoft since I purchased my first one through them, and am waiting for it to be fixed. I just bought another one through best buy, and when I recieved it in the mail, the controller sounded like it had broken bits of plastic inside moving around, So today it was exchanged but they only had red, so I had to pay 11+ dollars extra for the difference just to get an exchange. Geek squad checked the new controller to confirm it was a good one without problems. When I tried it at home the joysticks sound like there is sticky residue inside them, and when I press down on the joysticks and rotate them, they get stopped in rotation by some internal defect that doesn't allow them to rotate as they should, and when I use the left one and aim to the bottom left side and try to click in, it simply will not press in. These controllers are plagued with defects right out of the box, with zero quality control what so ever, and even geek squad missed this defect and said it was a good controller. I will be returning this product plus the 2 year extended warranty I bought for it, which is needed for these controllers because they WILL break eventually if not already defective right out of the box. $130 for the white one, $140 for the colored ones. an xbox series s is 250$ This controller is half the cost of a CONSOLE, yet has the worst quality control I have ever seen at 37 years old, and gaming since I was a kid. If you get a defective controller, don't let Microsoft get away with it, return it immediatly. It is the only way Microsoft will learn that all these returns will push Microsoft to want better quality control.

Im very sad to wright this i have owned many controllers over time and i purchased an elite series 2 last year and it was amazing one of the best rollers i have had but ive always been a play station controller person so i sold it to a friends when the ps5 edge controller came out and man that was a mistake that thing broke with in 2 months so i went back to my astro controller for a while and figured id buy another elite 2 controller when i had the money so i purchased the red core controller about a week ago cause im a sucker for red haha but was sadly disapointed when it arrived and i plugged it in to my pc the ads trigger was bugged out of the box every time i had tbe trigger stop on and would ads in game if i moved my joy stick to the left it would un ads me in the middle of fights and also one of the back buttons/paddles was kinda mushy it worked but it didnt really click so do to these corcumstances i am returning the controller right away and i purchased my self a scuf envision and man is this thing sweet tops all the controllers i have had so far so if your a pc gamer ger the scuf envision for sure for the price you cant beat it but if your a x box console gamer save your money on these thing youll just be returning it i would just spend the extra 50 bucks or so and get the black elite 2 package combo the cores are trash

I have now had 4 pro controllers and each one has a peice that stops working after 2-3 months of gaming. The first 2 were the original elite series and the second 2 were the elite series 2. Each controller has had a button stop working and to make things worse they’re different buttons EVERY TIME. DO NOT buy without a protection plan I made that mistake on the first 2.

    Great Feel, Terrible Functionality

After owning the elite series 1 controller for 4 years, I decided to give this controller a shot. Its clear to me that Microsoft has since stopped caring about product quality and placed the emphasis on marketing. I was initially impressed by the build quality of this product (it feels very high quality and well built in the hands), but actually using the controller is another story. Right out of the box, the Y button would consistently not register my button presses. This basically made the controller unusable as I need that button for the games I play. I thought I had got a defective controller, so I returned it for another one. To my surprise, the second controller not only had the same issue, but was also doing it on the A button. This product is straight up unusable, no matter how good it looks or feels. It’s sad that paying more than double the price of a regular controller, only gets you a nice paper weight. I cannot recommend this product to anyone. I returned the second controller and got the Razer Wolverine, which has exceeded my expectations.

Terrible QA Shipped Broken and Mislabeled

For the record I bought two of these things both “Open-Box Excellent” which is a complete and total lie. Both controllers were shipped with issues. The first, the right trigger didn’t work properly and the second controller the left thumbstick didn’t press down and was jammed. This is beyond disappointing. The fact that these items were “checked”, returned, and labeled without even verifying that they FUNCTION properly. Is so incompetent it borders on fraud. I’m returning these and will never buy anything gaming wise from Best Buy again. As much as I hate Amazon, I’d rather buy from them than deal with the constant scamming from Best Buy, because they’re too lazy to do their jobs properly.

This was my favorite controller for years until I needed a replacement recently. They obviously changed their manufacturing because I exchanged it 6 different times and every single time each controller had the exact same issue. The left thumbstick is completely chalked. Can’t even move it in a circle smoothly, it gets stuck and sometimes it doesn’t even detect movement at all. Again, 6 different controllers from two different locations had this exact same issue. It’s like they know they are pushing out broken controllers but just don’t care lol

I bought this after having to Elite Series 2 controllers fail on me in less than 3 years and decided to try the cheaper Core version to save some money. It didn't go well. The right joystick was loose, and the cap not screwed on tightly and the stick spun freely. I was able to hand tighten it but didn't exactly feel confident at that point. I connected the controller and discovered the right stick was drifting badly out of the box, over 17% percent on input tester. Beyond that, the sticks just didn't feel nearly as good as a standard Elite Series 2, the right stick felt like it was grinding on the shell, not the smooth feel of the original, and the joysticks just overall felt cheaper. The whole controller just felt cheaper in general, and I decided not to pick up another one upon returning it. I'm just going for a cheaper controller at this point. I'm sick of having such bad build quality on $130+ controllers.

Bought one that had stick drift after less than a month. Returned it and got a new one thinking maybe it was me being too harsh on the sticks or it was faulty but had the same issue a few weeks later with this one. Save yourself some money and the headache and just get a 8bit pro.

Xbox Elite Series 2 - Open Box Scam

Ordered the elite controller as an open box item in “excellent” condition. Upon opening the box, the first thing I noticed was how filthy the controller was. There was dirt and skin particles on the triggers and in the grooves of the controller. This controller had been well used prior to being resold by Best Buy. Not only was it disgusting, but the right bumper was broken. I took it back to the counter and asked for another open box they had. Upon opening the box, the same story. A dirty controller, but this time the left trigger was broken. I again returned the item, and was told by the store clerk: “Yeah, don’t ever buy open box items from Best Buy, especially controllers. There’s a reason they were returned”. So, Best Buy is knowingly reselling broken items. Buyer beware.

Purchased this for my son’s birthday while it was on sale before christmas. his birthday is the second week of January, and the controller was nicely priced at around $104 or something like that. The controller worked great, out of the box, but come back a week later and it is dead. No biggie, but long story short, after trying to charge it for a few days, still not working, so go to take it back and was denied by Best Buy. They said I should have purchased the $50 extended warranty or some such. Disappointed to say the least. Wont be purchasing from Best Buy again. That same day, purchased new washer (not from BB though)…

Bought the white one first then a stick froze working the first 3 hours. Exchanged and paid more for this one and got stick drift on the right stick within a week. Typical Microsoft trash that promises a lot delivers very little. Built a bonfire with the Xbox (after 17 years of playing Xbox exclusively) and bought a PS5, won’t be back to Microsoft’s garbage they’re the inferior trash now and it’s not even close.

It is currently June 2024 and I purchased the controller in October of 2023. Very early on I noticed stick drift on one of the analog sticks. Now the RB button has to be pushed extremely hard to register, and even then it sometimes doesn't work. I take very good care of my things and the controller has never been dropped or damaged in any way. I play anywhere from 5-10 hours a week.
