I purchased this keyboard to replace a Microsoft Natural 4000 Keyboard. Initially, I had connectivity issues when setting up and while using the keyboard. The keyboard would sleep often and wouldn't wake up. It wasn't until a co-worker recommended that I try purchasing a separate Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) dongle. Once I did, I was golden. The keyboard was a lot more responsive. What I especially like about this keyboard is how comfortable it is to type on. Personally, I prefer soft keys. However, if you're a keyboard masher who prefers stiff (mechanical) keys, then this keyboard won't be for you. There are a several things I dislike about this keyboard, which prevented me from giving this 5 stars: * It would have been nice if Microsoft included a Bluetooth LE dongle so that I wouldn't have had to purchase one on my own. * I know this keyboard was really intended for the Surface; however, it would be nice if this keyboard came in multiple colors, especially black, so that I would match the rest of my system. * I'm not a fan of the Fn (function) key. As an application developer who relies heavily on keyboard shortcuts, I use my function keys often as well as the shortcut keys for things like adjusting the volume. I hate having to toggle the Fn button just to perform certain tasks. I feel that Microsoft should have kept those buttons separate. * I feel that there should have been more spacing for the keys on the right side of the keyboard similar to the Natural 4000. I use the Insert, Home, Delete, End, arrow keys, and 10-key very often. Although I don't seem to experience issues with the positioning of the 10-key, I do tend to press the wrong key when reaching for the Insert, Home, Delete, End, and arrow keys. Before, I could press any of them without looking at the keyboard. Now, I actually have to look down just to make sure I'm pressing the correct key since the keys are so close to the Backpace, Right-shift, and Right-Ctrl keys. If it weren't for these shortcomings, which are all based on my personal opinions, I would have given this keyboard the 5 stars it truly deserves. If the issues I experienced are non-issues for you, then I highly recommend this keyboard. The moment Microsoft releases a black version of this keyboard (if they do), I won't hesitate to buy that as a replacement.

This keyboard is awesome! I get complimented every day on it! The force of the buttons make it real smooth and very quite! If you bang your keys this keyboard will make it seem like you are typing on clouds. The only design flaw is that the arrow keys are too close the the 10key pad and the CTRL key! Sometimes i press ZERO when pressing the right arrow or CTRL when pressing the left arrow key. Other than that it is an awesome!!

    A Wonderful Keyboard

The Surface Ergonomic Keyboard is interesting. Even though the body is made from plastic the materials look and feel nice. The cloth material on the wrist rest is soft and smooth. I have seen pictures of some keyboards that look like they have been discolored by dirt and sweat. I haven't had mine that long but have not noticed any discoloration. Surface Ergonomic Keyboard is easy to type on. I have found that I type better because of the way the keys are separated and how my wrists rest on it. Key travel is excellent and relatively quiet. I use this keyboard with an HO Omen, and it synced easily. I would recommend the Surface Ergonomic Keyboard to anyone.

Starting with the good here, the keyboard is just as good looking in real life as it is in the pictures. Connecting it to my laptop (not a Surface) was painless. The Alcantara material is nice to the touch and comfortable. Battery life seems good and the ergonomic design has alleviated some of the pain I was experiencing from tendonitis caused by overwork with heavy lifting. Now for the bad, there was a manufacturing issue (I think) with my keyboard. The space bars, there are two separate buttons on this keyboard, both seem to have never had their springs working. From box opening, the keys have laid nearly flat against the surface and are extremely sensitive. Even a light brush of piece of paper being drawn across them will set it off. In the picture, you can see the comparatively low profile of the space bar key. I have compensated for this, but it's really annoying, especially for a $130.00 product. Further, the keyboard occasionally shuts down and restarts itself, right in the middle of me using it. I can confirm that the product shuts down because the Bluetooth connection stops with the PC and the lights on the device, such as the numlock device, turn off as well. All in all, I cannot recommend this unit to another person.

I had stains on the ALCANTARA material on the keyboard after month and a half. I went back no help. Now its been a little more than 5 months and the keyboard looks disgusting. NOTE: the stains are from resting wrist on it only. I use it at work only and now I feel bad because it looks bad. please fix or change.

The only real issue with this item, is that its expensive for a keyboard (Bluetooth or otherwise). The keyboard is incredibly well designed, looks great, feels extremely comfortable. The key travel is perfect, no issues of it going too far or too shallow to where you're not certain if you've pressed the key. It goes to sleep fairly quickly when not being used or you've delayed touching the keyboard due to using only the mouse for a period of time. This is great for saving on battery and doesn't bother me at all, as once you actively start touching it again, the lag to wake-up and actually process the entry you entered does connect within 1-2 seconds. I've been very happy with this and I love using this every day for work.

I own two of this same keyboard. It is easy to use and comfortable when typing. I bought this as an open box ($60ish) and think it’s well worth the money. The downside of this keyboard is that it still uses a couple AAA battery to power it. Lasts for a while, but actual batteries (over a chargeable device) is somewhat archaic. When typing, there is a good button “feel” and more sophisticated sound made by the keystrokes.

Purchased this keyboard for my Surface Book 2...Excellent Key travel, great looking, nice ergonomics. The only reason not to get 5 stars is price and no backlighting. How a keyboard can be so super expensive and not have backlighting is beyond me!!!

    An Ergonomic Keyboard I love

I love this Keyboard. It was easy to setup. It came with batteries already installed so all I had to do was pull the plastic tab out of the battery compartment and it connected quickly to may computer. Super easy. Oh, the Batter cover is held in place by magnets so its easy to open. I like using an ergonomic keyboard because it is so my more comfortable for me. Not only does this keyboard look great but I love the low profile keys that feel more like my laptop. I like the action of the keys as far as how the response feels when I type. It is stiff light action, meaning it doesn't take a lot of pressure to press the key down and it returns back to the top very quickly. The keystrokes are shallow making it easier to type faster with slight movements rather than pressing a key deep down into the board. This keyboard works well and feels great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great ergonomic Bluetooth keyboard.

First, the good: The key travel is very nice. And obviously it's ergonomic, which I always appreciate in a keyboard - I use the Microsoft something-or-other 5000 ergonomic keyboard and mouse mostly. Second, the bad: It's bluetooth, and it kept dropping the connection and some letters. It was random - it would work for an hour, then have a fit, then work for two more hours. Maybe it was the bluetooth on my computer, but I didn't care enough about the keyboard to try and figure it out. Also, the standard Microsoft keyboard software won't control this keyboard, so you can't override any of the F keys or really do anything at all other than whatever the standard keys do. I do like the "favorite" buttons on the MS 5000 keyboard so I kind of miss those. Lastly, the F keys are spaced oddly. Being a programmer, I use all the F keys a lot and I like having them in clusters of four... I know, that's pretty picky. In the end, I returned it mostly due to the dropped connection. But maybe you won't have that problem. If I hadn't, I would be typing on it right now!

I have used this every day since I got it. Fast, you would never imagine its wireless. its easy on batteries too, just cant get over how nice it is to type on here. you get used to the lay out and you can really jam at 100 wpm if you are fast enough on any keyboard. you get faster with this one. love it!!!!

I bought this to use with my Surface Book and find it very comfortable and easy to use. The layout is easy to adjust to so I had no issue typing on it like normal. The keyboard shortcuts are also handy. I've been using for about a month and have not had to change batteries yet.

Great looking keyboard. BUT...I haven't gotten comfortable using the ergonomic layout. I spend in excess of 8 hours a day using a keyboard and I know this is just a function of using the keyboard over and over to feel comfortable. The more I use it I feel more comfortable, my 43 star rating is more User issue than product. The features, connection and battery life are easily everything I expect in a top keyboard. It is great using Bluetooth - I hate wires and taking up USB/C ports for non-essentials. I like the stylish different minimal look - so it is exactly what I wanted.

This keyboard works well enough; I give it only two stars because every time my laptop goes to sleep, I can't just press a key on the keyboard and wake it up like I should be able to. There may be a fix out there for this, I didn't find it, but I literally had to delete it from my Bluetooth paired-device list and then pair it again to get it to reconnect to my laptop every time my computer went to sleep. That was very frustrating, so I bought the corded version and this one is no longer being used.

It has a lower profile, less drastic design than the 'natural' keyboards in the past. However it turned out to be just right. Keys don't stick up as far. I find myself typing better with it. At one point it didn't work, though the computer said it was paired. But I returned the (competing) bluetooth mouse, and have had no trouble since.

I have always used the Microsoft ergonomic keyboards. They have an amazing sculpt design that fits my hands and arms perfectly. when my wired one broke after 10 years of service being used every single day and surviving 3 moves including a cross country move. I decided it was time to upgrade to a wireless peripheral to help clean up the desk. I love the clean sleek look of the silver. The wrist pads are smooth and soft and much higher end feeling than my old one. This would literally be perfect except for one flaw. The keyboard is not backlit, which wouldn't be a problem, but since the keys are printed with very thin white lettering, they are VERY hard to see, even in bright lighting. Now, I've been typing for 35 years and don't need to look at the keyboard very often unless i';m using function keys or some ofthe less used keys, so it doesn't effect it too much, but even if it had a charcoal grey font printed on the keys i think it would still look good but be a lot easier to see. I realize backlighting would probably drain the battery too much but if they could either change the color of the key font or add backlighting this would be a perfect 5 star.

Great keyboard. Ergonomic shapes accommodates my hand perfectly. Only issue would be the speed at which it reconnects after going into standby mode. A little slower than I would prefer. But it does save battery power
