Upgrade from XP Home Media Center 32b to Windows 7 Pro 64b was simple and easy. After 154 updates peripherals installed with Windows 7 finding latest drivers immediately. Difference between XP and 7 might be described as Smart Car to Ferrari. Awesome operating system fully supported by Microsoft with critical updates for years. This was much cheaper than buying a new computer because XP support had ended, beats the heck out of Windows 8.

    Almost as good as XP

Ok.. I have installed my Win 7 and it was a pretty easy installation. I guess I say almost as good as XP since I am still learning 7. Still has some bad habits left over from XP, ( I say XP since I didn't go with any others like Vista). One bad habit that I find annoying is that when I press Cntr-Alt-Delete, I want my task manager to shut the program down right away, not wait 60 sec. or so. But, I am on an old computer that's about 6 yrs old and Win 7 Pro 64 bit runs decently. There isn't too bad a learning curve, but back up your work as I did a clean install, it doesn't do it for you.

i would recommend window 7 professional to a friend, as it is efficient, can run all your old programs. You can use the administrator setting an operate programs designed for XP without buying or downloading extra drivers. A feature that was not carried over into windows 8!

I was running windows XP but with the discontinued support coming I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade. I was going to get a new computer since my system is old but every new computer has Windows 8 which is a joke. My computer met the requirments for windows 7 so I did a clean install. It's like a brand new faster computer now. EVERYTHING is much faster since I'm able to use the dual core and other hardware to it's maximum potential. This was a very good move.

I bought this to upgrade motion computing J3500 tablet. This 64bit system utilized all 8 gigs of RAM and really improved the performance of the machine. Being that the machine had to be connect to the net for all the updates took some time but after that this machine was ready to go! So far I have not had any issues with lag on the stylus so I am very satisfied with the results.

Windows Pro 7 is a very good product espectially for the price I paid for it. I had already laid the foundational work and was prepped to load on product arrival. After prod. arrival it took 45 minutes to load, longer for the updates to-date. I couldn't understand why it took shorter to order from ohio than to pick it up at the store 5 miles away, (if they had it). I was happy with the purchase, it worked as advertised.

64 bit Professional gives you the option of tons of RAM! This is very helpful for beefy programs like video editing. I am using 32G of RAM! Older Windows versions caused headaches with video editing. Windows 7 is much better.

From a business standpoint, Windows 7 is highly preferred over Windows 8. Less issues with other software compatibility, more known layout for business activities where social media is not a focus and is actually frowned upon from a productivity view of most workers whose job isn't marketing.

I've assembled various gaming computers over the years with various Mcrosoft operating systems. I skipped a couple but I'm very satisfied with Windows 7. The Best Buy price was reasonable and the pick up was easy. I continue to buy computer products from Best Buy.

Windows 7 Professional is a pretty reliable operating system. I went from windowsXP Professional to 7 professional. 7 runs XP virtually if you needed for older programs.

I have used Windows 7 at work for several years now and have just upgraded my personal laptop from Vista to Windows 7. I won't go for Windows 8 until (if) they get all the bugs worked out.

    Gaming computer build

I re-built an old aluminum gaming computer and choose Windows 7 Pro because not only is it more stable than Windows 8, the Pro version allows you to download and run a Pro version of XP for all my older games which do not run on Vista and on up through Windows 8.1. Unless you a a member of Microsofts Partner program, you will not receive any tech support. Joining is free, however, when I tried to re-new my membership, I could not because I did not have a business website address.. If you do have a web address, you can become a Microsoft partner and download an installation kit which will then give you tech support. You still get all the Windows updates and security fixes free though.. Overall the best choice for a high end gaming computer.

Windows 7 is a very nice transition from Windows XP, there will be a learning curve for some information, such as "System Information", but it wasn't that steep of a learning curve.

Elements of my original OEM Windows Pro 7 somehow went missing in my computer. It blocked the loading of some programs and since the computer came pre-loaded without a backup copy I was in trouble. I preferred to stay with Windows Pro 7 because the system was setup with that as the nucleus. No copies were in the stores but Best Buy came through for me with just the OEM copy I needed. Miracle Workers!!!

Windows 7 is not intuitive, but does seem to work faster than Windows XP. I need to learn some of the shortcuts that would make it easier to use.
