A solid powerhouse for everything you throw at it. I bought this to replace an Asus ROG that I’d bought a month back as a desktop replacement and the 2 weeks I’ve had this unit I’ve been very impressed. Now with specs like this: i9, 64GB RAM and an A5000 Quadro + 1TB SSD it’s important to realize this isn’t the fastest computer you could buy (at least it doesn’t feel like it). Other units will load a tiny bit quicker and maybe have a crazy screen refresh rate. But this unit feels like it could handle anything and that’s what makes its special. Pros: 1) 17.3” making it useful as a desktop replacement 2) 64GB of RAM means you can run everything at once and you don’t notice performance issues 3) Quadro runs literally everything that is out right now flawlessly and can handle my CAD programs without lag. Cons: 1) Screen is 1920x1080. If you want more you can pay for it I believe - I’m not really interested in 4K though. 2) Speed. This unit is fast but there are gaming laptops designed for faster refresh rates and load times. I didn’t need it so I didn’t care. 3) Cost. $4200 for a laptop is stupid expensive. I have the means to afford it and the job to use it but for the average businessperson/gamer combination most 3080 laptops at $2500 could suffice. Note: I’ve noticed this unit get to 90+ degrees under a heavy load (107F was a max) and the fans didn’t kick in heavy until 100+. The good news is I didn’t really experience any thermal throttling and if you need to the Cooler Boost is easy to select in the MSi menu. I found going from 110 to 75 (Fahrenheit) at max fan boost took 10-15 minutes in tests. I love this system and it’s perhaps one of my best large purchases I’ve made in my 30 years of existence.
